Arrival Story:
One Sautrday night in June, we took our dog Monty out for a walk in the late evening and heard a cat crying in the bushes. Some idiots were drinking in the complex and throwing beer cans and bottles at the noise. We decided if the kitty was still there in the morning, we were going to go rescue it. The next morning, we went back, and sure enough, she was still there. We were surprised that it was a barely 2-month old kitten! She was so loud. We took her back to the apartment and gave her a bath - she was so dirty and flea bitten. Then she was off to the vet for actual flea meds and a checkup. The vet said she was pretty malnourished and dehydrated. He doubted she would have survived the next day or two had we not scooped her up. He also speculated that, since she was so socialized to both humans and other cats, that she had been part of an unwanted litter that was dumped. Now she is healthy and sweet, if still a little jumpy.
