Arrival Story:
L'il Bear was found in an Ann Arbor alley with her 8 brothers and sisters, next to her dead momma. Not sure what killed momma but they were all only 2-3 weeks old, on their own in the cold and full of roundworms. They all had to be bottle fed. I personally fostered 5 of them, but fell in LOVE with L'il Bear from the moment I had her. All her siblings have been adopted out now through the Michigan Cat Rescue (whom I volunteer for), but I'm keeping her. Seems I adopt a cat a year...at this rate by the time I'm 50 I'll have 10 cats! LOL!

Bio:
L'il Bear has no idea how trying it's going to be in this househild, but there is NEVER a shortage of love and care. Lots of friends, good food and excellent medical benefits!

2-1-10 Vet Appt Sunday

Mommy took me ot the vet early Sunday morning as scheduled because the vet was worried my liver was bad too. And to ck my blood pressure. On my first ultrasound 1-25-10 the vet thought my liver was bad, alond with my bad kidneys. The second ultrasound on 1-31-10 revealed that my liver is OK!!!!! And my phosphorous levels are normal which with Chronic Renal Failure, is a good thing. My blood pressure wa a little high (180). The vet started me on Enalapril amd ,pmmy requested Sub Q fluids. I felt so much beter SUnday afternoon!

Now that we know my liver is OK mommy is exploring the possibility of a kidney transplant for me! Scary and happy thoughts all at the same time.

Say Prayers

It is with astonishment and great grief that I say Lil Bear has just been diagnosed with CRF (Chronic Renal Failure) and well as some liver damage. She is only 2 years old this week. She is also the runt of a litter and very petite. She is 4.2 lbs.

Her kidneys never formed correctly and she never showed any signs of problems until December 2009 when she seemed dehydrated. I got her bloodwork done and then in January got a second opinion and another set of blood work done.

She is the love of my life, my princess, my little tater tot. I do perhaps think I will die with her.

I've been through death of my pets before, however, this one is going to kill me. I never dreamed that I would only have her for 2 years. The only one I ever "mothered" from the very beginning. At 2 weeks (Februsry 2008) she was bottle-fed I helped her elimiate, loved her and knew of the 9 in the litter she was very special. So I fostered her family and adopted her.

I will die without her.

My Lil Bear Angel

My Lil Bear is so small and dainty! I sometimes call her Tinkerbell or Thumbelina or One Hand cuz she's so small! (pick her up with one hand still) She was the runt of her litter, but I really didn't expect her to stay so small! She's still only 5 lbs. and she turns 1 year old in two weeks! AND she is exceptionally healthy! Quite a few of her siblings have eye ailments that are chronic and they will never be 100% although they are all doing well. LB seems to be the healthiest of them all, boy did I get lucky! She's my sweet angel and is the true lap cat I always wanted one of my "girls" to be!
