Arrival Story:
This is a long, but sweet, story of Fate... It was a chilly groundhog's day in 1992, my mom had just picked me up from school and we when to the 7/11 to get an after school snack. As we're heading into the store I spot an orange and white striped cat on the side (I was about 7 at the time) and I call to my mother. We walk around the back of the store and see empty cans of cat food and assume the cat is a stray. After heading inside we purchase a can of cat food for the stray and nickname it "Wiskers" after the cat food brand we purchased. Later that evening it's becoming particularly cold and Mom and I begin to worry about the stray cat, Wiskers, so we gather up our neighbor with their cat carrier and go back to the store. The cat, Alas, is gone. Seeing her disappointed 7-year-old, though, my mom has a suddenly realization. She recently got a temporary job as a nurse aid for an elderly lady. In the apartment complex many stray cats hang around and my mom actually recalls seeing what she believes was Wiskers there. We head over to the apartment complex and see a mob of cats. We spot-- amazingly enough-- Wiskers and in the process of scooping up the cat we actually get two. Later that night, in the basement, as I'm changing the food and water bowls in a rather large dog cage we were keeping the cats in, Wiskers makes a quick get away when I open the door. (We see him in later years around the neighbor, a cat no one should ever tame..) but the other cat-- the young gray one we scooped up) doesn't move. Perhaps intrigued by the food or the warmth... the cat remains. And almost 14 years later, Muffin is still my special lil guy.

Bio:
Muffin has a BeBe pellet permenantly lodged in his ear in an incident when he was a stray. The son of the woman my mom got a job care-taking HATED cats (Jerk...) and at times came around with a BeBe gun and shot at the cats that hung around the complex. We assume that's where Muffin obtained his battle scar. Muffin is an all gray cat, except for 3 white toes on his back feet! So cute! ^_^ Muffin used to start fights in the neighborhood (and Mom thought other cats were picking on him) and think he was Mr. Bad-Ass cat, but since he got older he's mellowed out. Muffin has always been aware of when any of us our sick. Even in his younger years when he was not very cuddly, he would come and cuddle and comforter a member of the family whenever they were sick in bed. Aww.
