Arrival Story: Bubba was originally rescued along with his brother out of a shelter. They were skinny and were about 7 weeks old. They were not weaned from their mommy kitty and didn't know how to eat on their own. My then husband and I were doing cat adoptions at a Pet Smart, and for two days we watched how Bubba and his brother were just left all day in a cage in the cat room by the people who got them out of the pound. They were left with dry food, but they didn't know how to eat it. Bubba tried to eat some, but his brother after the second day just laid there looking very ill. He was starved and dehydrated. After the second day of seeing this, we offered to foster them and took them home. We were there trying to adopt our fosters out..... not bring home two more! I bottle fed both kitties and soon they were eating on their own and their health improved greatly. Then the ones who originally rescued them came over and insisted that they needed to have booster shots!! You cannot give booster shots to kitties who are not completely well! I tried to reason with them, but they gave them anyways! I asked if these were at least 'killed virus' shots and was told that they were 'live virus shots'. I was left with the aftermath and cost of their health going straight back down hill. I paid and took them to my vet. Bubba finally recovered but his brother never did. Neither did Mystique, another kitty I had 'fostered' for them and they gave shots to while she too was sick. :(

Bio: Bubba is an absolute love. He purrs so hard he chirps. He's quick to be the first one to play, and also quick to be the first one relaxed in a lap. He can entertain anybody. After he was neutered and got his clean bill of health, a family quickly adopted him and loved him so much. One month later they returned him in tears. Although he loved his new family and they adored him, they claimed he never stopped crying and looking for 'something.' They guessed that he missed his brother and that they should be adopted together. His brother was still not well and was not adoptable. Bubba was glad to be back with us and I never heard a peep out of him so I assumed it was his brother he had missed. Within a few months Bubba was adopted again. Everybody falls in love with this little guy, and a family was offering him a good home. Despite our best efforts, his brother was still not well, and I didn't want to hold Bubba back any longer. Off he went to his new home only to be returned with the same story. He never stopped crying and appeared to be looking for 'something.' This time though, the family told me that they knew it was me, not his brother that Bubba was attached to. They said that he was broken hearted because he was attached to ME!! (Yikes! Our four cats were two more than we ever planned to have, and now Bubba too? Ha!) We have not adopted him out again, although if the perfect family comes along we will try one more time. The first family was much more chaotic than he's used to, and the second family was very quiet and didn't play with him much. I do believe he will attach to the right people, not just me. He doesn't get all the attention and play time here, like I believe he needs. But for now and possibly forever Bubba has a loving home with us. ...... ( After almost one year and a very long struggle with everything, and from vet care to holistic care, his brother sadly lost his battle. He will never be forgotten. I miss him! ................................. Update: 01-17-08 ~ Bubba was adpoted today into a very good home. Say a prayer with us that the third time is a charm for our precious little guy. :)
