Arrival Story: I rescued Muppet from a huge cat sanctuary where the cats had been left to starve. Several hundred did not make it and many more were critical when we arrived to try and help the end of May 2007. Muppet and precious Beannie Baby were among the most critical too and the heartbreaking day when Beannie Baby died from kidney failure I scooped up Muppet and brought her home. I didn't want to let her out of my sight. She weighed only 4 pounds, she was emaciated and dehydrated. She could barely walk and she looked like a puppet on strings when she tried. It's been over 3 months now, and Muppet weighs in at 6 pounds. Still needs to gain a couple more pounds. Her kidneys are thankfully hanging in there, but she's still having some problems with her ears. For the first month after we brought her home, she slept by the food and water bowls. She didn't want her food and water to ever get 'lost' again. She's learned to trust again that the food and water will always be there, so now she likes to sleep on a bed or by a window. Her personality is starting to come out and she is such a sweet little character. We love her so much.
Bio: Later, in mid July, Best Friends thankfully took over the sanctuary thanks to my pleading phone calls, and they've already adopted out over 100 cats. About 550 cats still need to find homes. We have now officially adopted Muppet!! Yeah! I named her Cassidy in June when I first took her to the vet, but 'Muppet' seems to fit her better. On Catsters, Best Friends has posted some of the beautiful cats from the sanctuary for adoption. They accidentally put my Cassidy/Muppet's picture on another cat's story. They do have another Tortie that they named Cassidy also who is up for adoption. But that adorable little kitty that I'm holding in their photo is our precious baby. :) The photo I added where's she's sitting on a chair I took the end of May 2007 out at the sanctuary. Muppet, as most of the cats, was emaciated and almost bald from malnutrition, mange and ringworm. There will be justice for the cats in this horrible animal cruelty and neglect case at this sanctuary. I will be one of the many to testify to make sure the persons responsible hopefully get what they deserve. .......................... UPDATE 12-02-07 - What can one say about Best Friends Animal Society? After they arrived, 748 cats were recovered and 684 of those survived thanks to BF's at this nightmare animal place. (They were awarded by the court another 114 animals, that they flew to Utah, when the former owner's home was raided by Animal Control.) In all, over 300 sadly did not survive due to neglect, and in the end starvation and dehydration, by the previous owners. But as of today, out of the 684 cats that BF's endlessly and diligently worked to save, only 200 or so remain that need to be adopted in to their forever new homes. That's close to 500 cats saved, at times to the tune of $50,000 a week in vet care expenses, and placed into fantastic new homes!! This horrible, so called sanctuary, known as F.L.O.C.K., For Love Of Cats & Kittens (Now rightfully renamed 'For Lack Of Care & Kindness') is now known as among the worst ever recorded hoarding, animal neglect and cruelty cases ever discovered in our Nation's history. We are STILL WAITING for the D.A. to press charges................ As for Little Muppet, she's doing better. Her right ear still bothers her a bit from time to time, but other than that her health has greatly improved. Her newest thing is that she's discovered how to play and that it's fun. She still will freeze and stare at her feet if another cat comes close to her. She has recently warmed up enough to trust one kitty, Armani, a huge breakthrough for her. (Thank you Armani for being so gentle and patient with her) She's such a doll and we love her so much. :) (Further updates are in her diary )

We want to congratulate all of the finalists in the World’s Coolest Contest! There were so many pawsome photos this year and we had a blast viewing them and voting. I think every fur who entered in this contest is a winner!!
We were very surprised this afternoon when Lucy’s mom phoned us and said “Congratulations!!” Huh? For what? Our foster kitty’s ‘lamp photo’ was voted as one of the finalists in the Naughtiest category! Wow was meomy surprised! That picture contains five of her beloved foster kitties and it felt great to have them receive such an honor, even though they smashed her lamp! Mol!! Thank you & big hugs to everyone who voted for them! Spunky if you read this, I still love and miss you a lot! I'm so glad that you are doing fantastic in your new home!
SWEET LIL‘ GAIA ROSE posted her answers to a tag game she played and asked us Catster’s to please play along. How could any fur say ‘no’ to such a courageous and cute kitten? *purrs & love to sweet lil’Gaia* If you haven't followed or read her story, please find the time to do so! Below are my answers and I hope many others will play along too!
What is your name? Muppet
What other nicknames do you have? Puppet & Muppet-My-Puppet. My human Sissy C calls me Precious. When meomy first brought me home I had a bedroom all to myself. One evening, she brought home another emergency rescue kitty. He needed my bedroom so meomy asked Sissy C if I could sleep with her for a few nights. Sissy C kept coming up with names for me, but I didn’t really respond to them. Then she called me ‘Precious!’ and I immediately head bonked her and started purring! My other nicknames are very special to me and were given to me by my Catster friends. I respond to each one of them. Some of these nick-names are Mupps, Muppsters, Muppers, Muppy and Lil‘ Mupp, but I have to admit that there is one that I respond the most to and is Muppet-ini! I love and cherish ALL of my nicknames because each one was given to me out of love! *big hugs*
What breed are you? Not that it matters, but I am a Domestic Long Hair, Tortie.
Where were you born? I believe that I was born in Pahrump, NV but I really don’t remember. FLOCK was advertising to the United States that they would take mama’s and their babies, so I just can’t be certain.
Where do you live now? Pahrump, Nevada
What is your favorite toy? My big brown mousie and my mousie from my good friend ALFIE.
I also now love my lil’ mousie that’s attached to a feather wand.
What is your favorite store? I don’t have one because I don‘t personally shop. If I did have one though, I would have to say MISS HAZEL LUCY‘S store. ANGEL KILA and her kind Family sent me a beautiful blanket & scarf from there, and Miss Hazel Lucy herself has sent me several items to help keep me warm before, during, and after my surgeries. All of these precious gifts are well worn, traveled and laundered, yet still look the same as the day I received them. I cherish them and all of my gifts!!
How many toys do you have? All I can gratefully say is ‘an abundance!’ Thank you and grateful hugs to all who sent me so many fantastic and fun toys!
Wet or dry food? Meomy wants me to eat only wet food, but I love to crunch on the dry stuff too!
What is your favorite color? Blue, red & pink!
Are you bad when nobody's looking? Sorry, that’s a well kept secret! Mol!
Are you friendly? YES!
Are you overweight? NO!
Do you eat people food? Yep! I love anything that the humans eat that is a bird or a fish. I also love hamburger.
Do you eat bugs? Meomy never wanted me to tell, but once a pretty white butterfly landed next to me and right before meomy was going to snap a shot of it, …. well….
I ate it! Mol!
Do you live with other animals? Believe it or not, I used to live with over 1000 of them! Now I live with a feline sister, a foster sister, two feline brothers and a foster brother.
Do you like to exercise? Yes, when I’m having a good day I love to zoom around the house. I also like to zoom around in the outback on occasion.
Do you like car rides? Undecided! I like to go wherever meomy goes, but usually it means the icky doc’s office!
Do you get into stuff? Yes! I keep meomy in an utter state of shock with that! Mol!
Do you like to swim? Because of my past, I am terrified of water!
What is your favorite treat? Tiki sardine food and Soulistic chicken and pumpkin dinner
Do you shed? No, but I do, on occasion, pull my fur out in clumps. Allergies!
What's the funniest thing you ever did? I climbed up the screen door to the very top, somehow unlatched it at the top, and went for a ‘whooshing’ ride down to the ground, screen door and all!! Not funny to meomy then, but she LOL’s about it now!
What's the bravest thing you ever did? I went on a road trip to California with meomy, and with MY DOC driving! I was freaked out, but was a very brave and tolerant girl!
Are you neutered? Boys get neutered, I am a girl and I am spayed. *giggles*
Are you a social animal? Yes, I am known as the ‘social butterfly,’ except at the icky surgeon’s place in Las Vegas! There, and only there, because of their abuse I have become an anti-social nightmare!
Collar or harness? Don’t go there!!! But I am micro-chipped!
Retractable or regular leash? No collar…. no leash! Again, don’t go there!!!
Ceramic, Metal or Plastic bowls? Ceramic for dry food and porcelain and glass for wet food and water.
Do you sleep in a crate? No!! I sleep on meomy’s pillow! (A crate?)
Do you have a dog bed? I have several CAT beds. I’m quite sure if meomy’s doggies were still alive that they would have shared with me though.
Do you have a doghouse? Mol! I have a cat house! It sits up on top of meomy’s bed-wall unit. Krikit mostly sleeps in it now though.
Do you belong to any dog clubs? Yes! Many kind Dogster groups have asked me to join in with their fun doggie groups! Is that what you mean? Mol!
How does your owner describe you Tolerant, loving, silly, independent, grateful and an ‘angel on earth.’
