Arrival Story:
I adopted Lacey in 1984 from Anti-Cruelty here in Chicago. Actually, she picked me. As I walked among the cages looking at the kittens, her paw reached out and snagged my jacket. 'Nuff said. I took her home and she was the first pet I ever had. I was never allowed to have any when I was a kid.
Bio:
When I moved, I left Lacey and her 'brother' with my friend. It was They were getting up in age and it wouldn't have been fair to uproot them from the home they had so long . So, Lacey and Cagney were loved and cared for very much since '99 by their second mom. Lacey helped her second mom through so many surgeries and sicknesses. Always remaining by her side throughout. I had raised such a good loving kitty and was proud of her.
I was fortunate to move back to another apartment in the building 4 yrs ago and be able to be a small part of Lacey's life once again in her old age. I took care of her when her second mom was in the hospital. And, I cried for her when I saw how she was deteriorating. She got so skinny and eventually tired of grooming herself. She went into renal failure at the end.
Unfortunately we had to help Lacey to the Rainbow Bridge on Aug 12, 2007, after 23 yrs of love, laughter and many warm memories. She will be greatly missed, but remembered in our hearts always. She was one of a kind.
