Arrival Story:
I volunteer for the Michigan Cat Rescue and was asked to foster little Milagro, which stand for Miracle. You see, Milargro is the runt o fhis litter weighin gonly 8 oz. at 6 weekss old and half the size of his littermates. His mother rejected him and is also ill with pneumonia. Little Milagro's problems don't stop there, he also suffers from some abnormalities of his heart, lungs and trachea. Although his lungs are clear, his heart is in the wrong place and oushing one of his lungs. He also wheezes with every breath and is so tiny and thin that it tires him out just to breathe. He is all fur and bones and until you touch him, you don't notice how thin he is, just how small. We are hoping and praying that we can pull him thru and get him to grow and thrive, perhaps this will help his heart and lungs. As for the trachea, he will be getting a scope next week (8-9-07) to see what is going on, we just hope he survives the anesthesia. Someitimes he will eat on his own, but alot of times he must be force-fed, it is the only way to get him to grow. And feeding him this way does not seem to make his breathing worse or bother him to swallow.

Bio:
He and his mother and littermates were found as starving strays in Detroit. His siblings are ready for adoption, lil Milagro is not and won't be for some time if he survives. It will take a special person to adopt him, for he is a miracle.

Getting Nervous...

Well, my follow-up (6 weeks) appointment is coming up this Monday afternoon with Dr. Degner. I'm not sure what he is gonna say but momma sez I'm worse now, not any better as we had all hoped. Momma keeps tellin' me to slow down, stop running around the house chasing L'il Bear cuz I get so tuckered out so fast! Momma worries about me everyday and prays I'll live a good long life. All the time she starts with her story about how she fostered me when I was 7 weeks old and weighed 7 ounces....yadda, yadda, yadda...She gets all nostalgic on me and all I wanna do is PLAY! mmmeeeEEEOOOOW!

I am having more trouble breathing than ever! Momma is so sad and frightened for me. She wants me to live furrever...well a LONG time anyway. I want to also! I'll see what Dr. Degnar sez on 7-21-08 wehn I see him again.


6-23-08 Hangin' In There!

My 6 week surgery ck up is 7-21-08. Although I'm not breathing as well as before the surgery that was supposed to help me breathe better...I'm getting around, jsut get tired sooner and momma sez I sound worse than before, Momma really just wanted to help me breathe easier and she's sorry she put me through all this only to make it worse...
I will keep you posted on my recovery. I'm doing okay for now.
