Arrival Story:
When we were living in Detroit, this cat showed up on our patio doorstep. He was in bad shape and I didn't think he would survive. He had a huge gash across his throat, his eye was swollen shut and infected with pus, and his ear was torn. We started feeding him, but he wouldn't let us near him to catch him or take care of him. So after nearly 3 months of letting him inside to eat and carefully treating as many wounds as he would allow, he started to really depend on us. When he would show up on our doorstep, we would say, "There's our little buddy." It stuck. One day we opened the patio door as usual and he just decided he didn't want to leave. He's been ours ever since.

Bio:
When we first took Buddy in for shots and a spay, we learned he was FIV positive. Initially, we were worried that he wouldn't be happy unless he could go outside again, but we gave him his own space in the basement and he adapted very well. He is still very grateful for our hospitality. Over the years he has only gotten healthier. Our vet refers to him as 'The Magic Johnson of Cats.' Currently, he's living in my mom's farmhouse in the country and enjoying all of that new fresh air and freedom... and he gets to keep all the mice he catches as a nice little reward. He doesn't live with us, but he is still one of our absolute favorites.
