Likes: Sleeping, sleeping, and more sleeping. Loves string, ribbon, and plastic bags (mainly for eating, which is a major problem) Sammy will eat anything, as a matter of fact.

Favorite Toy: String, ribbon, and his little brother.
Favorite Nap Spot: On his tiger-striped pillow, next to his brother on the bed, or between mommy's legs at night.
Favorite Food: He's indifferent to types...as long as it's food it's ok by him.
Skills: Barfing up things he shouldn't have eaten in the first place and having mesmerizing eyes. He also occassionally misses when he tries to jump up on the couch or bed. Don't tell him I told you.

Arrival Story: My sister and I had heard about a kitty needing a home in Jefferson City, MO. The owners were horrible to the cat and were wanting to "dispose" of it, so we were going to take it. We traveled all that way and couldn't track down the owner at all, although she knew we were coming for the cat. Dejected, we decided that the 3-hour trip shouldn't be for nothing. We went to the local humane society to adopt "a" cat. We wanted an adult. At the end of the hallway in a room by himself was a big moon-eyed 2-year old named Sampson. I fell in love immediately as he stared at me through the glass. When we entered the room to pet him he immediately perked up and stood to greet us. He stood on the ledge and returned our affection as we stroked his furr. It took me less than a minute to decide to take him. He's been my best buddy ever since! Of course, we ended up leaving with 2 kitties that day, and it was the best decision we've ever made! Sammy took the drive a little hard. He was a fragile little guy at first. He cried the whole way, ended up busting out of the cardboard carrier we'd had to put him in (we hadn't anticipated 2!) and then pooped and puked in the car before reaching the destination. But I think that one was harder on us than him. Before it was all said and done Sammy had an outbreak of collitis caused by stress. But after some medical care and lots of love he was good as new!
Bio: Sampson came from a bad place, but we don't know any details about what he's really been through. He has a scar on his back that is very clear due to the scattered patches of white furr. Our vet told us that due to the pattern on the skin and the way the furr has grown back it would appear to be a burn caused by acid or some harsh chemical. There had also been a botched de-claw job done on his front paws. By the time he came to us the claws were growing back in and causing him a lot of pain. We had to have the procedure done again for his own benefit, and he didn't take this well. I hated seeing the pain that these bad previous owners had caused him! He hated both the sight of a man and the sound of a man's voice when he first came to us. But after 4 years of passing time and being adopted by a loving daddy upon my marriage 8 months ago, he's no longer plagued by these fears and bad memories. Now he has definite "catitude" and he isn't afraid of anything, not even the vaccuum! I'm so proud of him, because he's seen how cruel people can be but he doesn't hold it against us. He knows that he has a mommy and daddy who love him and would never hurt him (except for the occassional accidental step-on!). He's been made stronger and smarter by his experiences.

I don't know what's wrong with that crazy Nigel since he came back from the hospital. He's acting all weird! He keeps trying to stand on top of me (YES, he really DOES!). He bites the scruff of my neck and won't let go (but he doesn't have many teeth!) He does this several times a day, especially at night, and I'm getting really sick of it. I keep yelling at him telling him to stop but he keeps doing it. He'll actually stand over me straddling my entire body. Can't a boy just get some rest! Doesn't he know how hard my life is???? Never thought I'd say this, but I think I want the OLD Nigel back!
