Life after Liver failure

February 3rd 2007 8:58 pm   [link to this entry]

It's been nearly a month since I was admitted to the vet with severe liver failure and pancreatitis, and I gotta tell ya, things are looking up.

I've readjusted to life at home, with my masters, my brother, and that thing they refer to as "my sister." I was hoping she'd be gone when I got back, but no such luck.

Ever since I came home, my owners have been giving me a lot more attention, which I could definately get used to. I'm still a lazy bum, but those freakin' vets shaved me, so now I hang out near the heat vents and under lights.

I used to eat all the time, before they took me to the vet, and it was no big deal. Heck, they even told me to not each so much, or to at least chew the stuff instead of just swallowing. For 8 years, I had the same food day in and day out, with some nice people food on the side, of course.

But now, they get all excited every time I eat and drink, even when I pee. I swear I live on a funny farm! I've never seen them so happy just because I eat. "Good job, Cookie!" they say, "You're such a good girl. You did so good." Not that I mind the extra attention, of course. It's great.

The best thing is the 24 hour buffet I get. Everytime one of them goes into the kitchen, I'm right there too, to see what they'll give me. I get all kinds of stuff! Tuna, chicken, turkey, ham, kitten food, two new kinds of cat food, canned cat food, milk, chicken brooth, you name, they've given it too me. When I first came home, all I ate was baby food (turkey, ham, and beef flavors) and all I drank was milk.

Man, I've got it made now. All it cost me was some fur and spending a few nights in a cage. Why didn't I think of this sooner? They shove one pill down my throat, and in exchange, I get hand fed, all kinds of neat stuff.

Oh, gotta go! The buffet is opening. Looks like... oh, yes! It's chicken! My favorite.
