Arrival Story: After Mommy lost her beloved friend Sinead and she had finished her acute grieving and felt like it was OK to get another kitty, she found me in a cage with my brothers at a copy shop. The lady who owns the copy shop was fostering us for the Humane Society, and she hoped that her customers would adore us and give us Forever Homes. Well, the magic worked with Mommy! She thought I was a boy when she first got me, because that's what the shelter said. But then I presented her with my beautiful bum and she knew right away that I'm a girl kitty. She says I'm the spittin' image of Sinead...with some very special differences like the golden-dahlia-colored eyes that made her think that Dahlia should be my name.
When I first got here, the vet said I was really small for my age, and she didn't want to spay me until I was big and healthy enough. Mama and the vet were a little worried because I haven't gained weight even though I was eating a lot. I had to take worm pills (yuck!) and have a blood test to make sure the shelter was right that I didn't have FIV or Feline Leukemia (eeew!), but I turned out OK. I got spayed when I was 8 months old and I weighed just over 5 pounds.
I love my Mommy and my big brother Thomas--he's my shelter-cat buddy and he welcomed me right away when I came to my new forever-home. Siouxsie's been kind of grumpy and growly, but Thomas says she's a big old curmudgeon anyway.
Now I'm a giant, HUGE kitty! I weigh 7 pounds, and you'd just better watch out. I'm big and bad and tough ... except when I'm not.

Bio: I'm helping to write Paws and Effect now, and I'm doing a very good job if I do say so myself!

Mommy and Siouxsie and Thomas let me help with this week's Paws and Effect column! I'm so excited! I feel so grown-up and big and strong (even though I'm still pretty tiny). I'm gonna ask Doctor Sarah, my vet, if I can interview her sometime for the column. I hope she says yes....

Mommy's only had my profile on here for two hours now and already I've got 20 new friends and three treats! I'm the luckiest kitten in the world! Thanks, everyone, for being so welcoming to me. *purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*
