Arrival Story:
Sid was born in a barn and my aunt found him there all alone and still a wee kitten. She nursed him back to health and because he was deaf and she lived in the country he came to live with me and be an indoor cat. Sid is very friendly and goofy and hasn't really ever spent time arond other cats so he defines cat for himself. He likes things most cats don't like traveling in cars. He loves to sit on top of the backseat and take in the countryside. This is a good thing because Sid and I have travelled and lived many places together in three states.

Bio:
Sid likes to live on the edge and I fear may have used up many of his 9 lives. When he was a kitten he escaped while I was out and I came home and could not find him anywhere. An hour later witht he aid of a flashlight we found him up in a tree about two stories up. Even worse this tree was in out neighboor's dog pen! The dogs were pretty shifty and had killed a few wild rabbits who got into their pen and bitten neighboors. I was terrified but had to wait until morning, when it was light to try and save him. Long, long, terrible story short- in the morning while the dogs were sleeping in their doghouse Sid tried to come down the tree but ended up falling and when he stood up his front leg was bent at a weird ange pointing up toward his face, instead of down. He ran over and tried to climb under the fence to me but the dogs saw him and grabbed him. It was horrrible! Anyway our neighboor who owned the dogs and was very ill and could not really help finally called them off but could not get them out of the pen. Just when I thought it was going to be OK Sid launched his attack. He flew through the air, spread eagle, like a tiny, white ninja and landed on one of the dogs heads! Even with a front leg that we soon learned had shattered and dislocated bones, he tore at the dogs head with all his tiny little self had! No I screamed! I thought for sure he was a goner now. The dog shook him off and Sid launched himself at the second dog. This gave them a run for their money and their owner finally got them out of the pen and accused Sid of attacking her dogs! I guess that wasn't really a short version but there are so many details! Sid was OK but has a metal pin in his front leg today were the bone was broken. He has had many other misadventures but now has asthma and has had to take it down a notch.

Funny Sid Stories

November 5th 2006 6:49 pm   [link to this entry]

We lived in Washington, DC where we would take walks past the embassies and enjoy their beautiful gardens. I trained Sid to walk on a leash attached to a bright blue harness when he was young and he has since been happy to walk on a leash whenever the oppurtunity arises. This way he can enjoy the utdoors and stay safe, especialy since he is deaf and wouldn't be able to hear dangers like a car, etc. On one of these walks a woman pushes her baby stroller at Sid very quickly & aggressively so her baby could see him. It was very rude and scary ! I picked up Sid because he was frightened and he took one look at that baby and hissed like crazy. venomous, evil hissing even after the woman had wheeled the stroller to the end of the block in alarm! It was very funny! Sid may look all cute and fluffy but he hates babies and things on wheels!
