Socks, she loves to play "sock babies." "Sock babies" entails carrying around a sock like it's a kitten and then meowing loudly. Carmaletta has never had kittens, but if she had, I bet she would have been a good momma kitty.

Arrival Story:
I went to the Animal Rescue League just to look at the cats. I then fell in love with a beautiful long haired white cat. I resisted the temptation to adopt her because I thought it would be an impulse adoption, and I already had 5 cats and a dog. I told myself if I still wanted her in a week that I would go back and adopt her. A week passed and I still wanted that gorgeous white cat. So I went to the shelter and looked in the cage where the white cat had been on my last visit, but she was no longer there. Instead, there was this striking tortoiseshell unlike any I had ever seen. I took her to a play room and she just sat on my lap. I therefore decided to adopt this girl and called her Carmaletta.

Bio:
Carmaletta has had a lot of illness and surgery in her short little life. She had an upper respiratory infection when I first got her. Then she was spayed but not completely. She had ovarian remnant syndrome - this is where a piece of ovary is left inside. This wasn't that big of a deal except she still went into heat every Spring - Fall. She had a surgery to remove the ovary which was attached to her kidney. Then she got a urinary tract infection and six months later was diagnosed with stones in her bladder. She had surgery to remove the stones and about 10 days after this surgery she got an abscess at the surgical site. She is doing well currently.
