Arrival Story:
I saw Violet (then named Dixie) online at a Minnesota pet adoption site. At first, I thought she would be perfect for my boyfriend, who was looking to adopt a cat. She had been originally found by the group Last Hope after being hit by a car they helped her recover from her broken hip (I have also been hit by a car and have sustained a chronic injury). After seeing how pretty she was and how she reminded me of my sister's cat (same sarcastic snarl), I decided that if he wasn't going to adopt her, I was. We drove south of Minneapolis to Apple Valley, where she was living in one of those plastic display cages in a pet store. It was love at first sight. I took her home that day, and my boyfriend took home another cat from the same organization from a different store. We are now all very happy together!

Bio:
She is listed as an orange and white tabby, but I think of her tabby coloring more as a red; therefore, she is my "red hat cat". She spends about 20 hours a day sleeping, but when she is awake she is an adventurous mischief-maker. Unfortunately, she has a VERY sensetive stomach, and a love for houseplants. She loves to sit on newspapers and magazines (the more people looking at it the better) and bum-rush the front door when I get home from class. Every night before bed she snuggles into my arm, behind my knees, or on my tummy.

That's right. I caught the mouse. It crawled around between the first and second floors for MONTHS as we (me and my sister, Zips) tracked it from mouse hole to mouse hole. One night, somewhere around 3 a.m., I heard the little bugger in the kitchen. I'm not one to get up from Mommy's warm feet, but then it made a mistake- it came into the bedroom. We were on it. I pounced on it in Mommy's closet (her sactuary, really) and caught it behind her sweater rack. After a couple of bites, it was actually a pretty fun toy. We got to play with it for about 15 minutes before our parents got up to see what was going on. Mommy came up to me, and since I didn't meow (or grunt, rather) she turned on the light to see what was up and took the mouse out of my mouth to show Daddy. Daddy was not as impressed as she was. After that, they took my toy away and gave me sooo many treats!! I am still struting around the house.

Everything outside is white, like me. I must try extra hard to sneak out the door so that I can go see exactly what it is. It looks like it might taste good.
My sister has been downstairs all morning with one paw behind the bookcase. She'll never catch the mouse that way. And purring like that gave her away hours ago. Maybe later I'll show her how it's done. Right now though, I'm too busy sitting on the back of the big blue couch. The heater is on full blast, and I am LOVING it. I can even stick my face down between the wall and the couch and warm up my whiskers.
It's going to be a good day.

It's been a year since I've been with my new Mommy. She told me that is was a cause to celebrate, and bought me a new sock toy and a catnip bouquet! My sister and I got a HUGE cat tree too!!! We are very excited. I am already making Mom and Dad nervous by climbing up to the top and leaning over the edges. It's a great way to observe my territory. Zips is too scared to go past the third level, but she has taken over the blue cat condo on level 3. That's cool, I heard Mom talking about making me a cushion for my bed on level 5:)
