Oh, purrs! Mom entered a couple pictures of me in the Coolest Cat Contest! She put in a few of my brothers and uncle Spot too... But clearly, you don't need to vote for them. Just ME! Purrrrrs! I gotta go vote for my buddies now.
Did you see the pictures?! It's been snowing here! Saturday morning we all woke up to a dusting over the green grass, and green growing garden... It was a shocker! And since then it's been flurrying everyday. The humans let us outside on our leashes while they are winterizing the gardens. (I think the snow came early and caught them off guard.) My favorite project to supervise was the draining of the fish pond out back. They keep gold fish out there (Or as Captain calls them the "Pieces of eight fish!"). I sat calmly watching them scooping out all the water out of the pond. Every now and then they'd get excited and grab this little net and transfer something to a bucket filled with water... Right at the end I figured it out: they weren't just emptying the water, they were catching fish! Oh!!!
I ran over to Mom while Dad went in with the bucket of gold fish. She looked away for a moment to fiddle with the pump they'd been using, and I jumped right into the mostly empty pond! I say mostly, because there was just this thin layer of black stinky goo at the bottom. I'd seen Mom sifting through it looking for fish, so many she'd missed a few! I nosed around in it, purred, batted my little toes around in it. Just as I was about to sit down and get serious about this fishing business, Mom saw me. She groaned and said, "SPARKMAN! Don't play with that stinky pond goop!" I looked up at her and huffed. Why does SHE get to play with reeking pond gunk and not me!?! I just stayed in the pond. Dad came back outside and the two of them mumbled human gibberish to each other. Then I heard Dad say very clearly, "Let's just leave him outside a bit longer and hope he cleans off!"
Here's my new plan: if I get messy and stinky outside, I get to stay out longer! So from now on, it's good bye wood pile vole hunting and hello pond scum fishing! Whoo hoo! But boy, do my feet smell bad now.
I was Halloween tagged by Autumn Amelia and Dewey! I'm supposed to list five things I love about Halloween, and then tag a few kitties... But those of you who've read my diary before know that while I love playing tag games; I don't love tagging my friends. So if you're reading this and have a diary; consider yourself tagged by Sparkman! And feel free to go play along too, it's fun!
Purrs
1) I eat raw pumpkin. It's slimey and fun and such a yummy snack!
2) I like jumping in all the piles of leaves the humans make this time of year.
3) Mom often makes hers and Dad's costumes. And I love any sewing projects; as Mom's often too distracted to notice me stealing a few cloth scraps to chew on! Purrrs!
4) Mom often gets a bunch of apples from my Auntie this time of year. Sometimes to wash them off, she just makes a puddle in the sink and floats them around in there... So my favorite thing is bobbing for apples while her head is turned!
5) Everybody seems to wear more orange and black. Which means they match me and my Captain Morgan! And what's better than color coordinated humans to sit on?!
