My Blood Test Results Are In!

First of all, on behalf of my family and me, we would like to take this moment to wish each and everyone of you a purrry Happy and safe Halloween, tomorrow.

Meowmy had to work this morning until 2:30 pm. As soon as she walked in, she saw that I was eating some of my dry food and then some of the canned as well. I began eating on my own last night which made meowmy so happy. You see, on Sunday, mom noticed that I wasn't eating much at all so she thought it was probably a tummy ache. Monday was basically the same until I didn't want to eat at all early that night so she made an appointment with the Dr Wray fur next available appointment which was on Tuesday morning. He had no idea what was going on so he took blood to get a better idea. He thought that it may have been my kidneys but come to find out, they're fine. Since I wasn't eating, mom chose to hand feed me which I was purry cooperative. I always listen to my meowmy *giggles* It seemed like furever that mom was waiting fur the results but finally they did come in today. All of my readings came out good except fur my white cell count is purry high. The normal reading is 16,000 and mine is 64,000! That's 3x the normal level. Doc is thinking that pawsibly I may have an infection (he saw that I have a loose tooth) and a slight infection in my mouth. They can't use any anesthesia since I have Cardiomyopathy. I also have the sneezies which I just started this afternoon *hisssss* Doc Wray put me on Orbax 22.7 mg (1/2 tab fur 10 day). After I have completed my medication, I will then have another blood test done to check my cell count. Doc did tell mom that another reason fur high white cell counts could be cancer which mom became so upset. We will see if I do have an infection first which if I do, the antibiotics should help. If it ends up being something more serious, my pawrents will do whatever needs to be done to help make me better. Please purray that it's not the "C" word and that whatever it is will be cured *crosses paws* I have eaten more than I did yesterday and with lots of love and purrayers, I hope to continue eating even more with each passing day. It could also be that my mouth is irritated.

Meowmy and I would like to thank each of you once again fur all of your purrrs & purrayers are fur being such pawsome and caring furiends. She has been so tired and stressed this week since she's been worrying about me. She's hardly sleeping as she wants to check on me every few hours. I sleep next to her throughout the night... always have because I love my mom so much. Mom did check with the vet about my sudden sneezing and they said that the Orbax will help with that as well since it's a broad spectrum antibiotic. Now I think I'll take another nap so that I can feel better soon 8blows kisses*

Today I Had A Vet Appointment With Doc Wray!

October 27th 2009 3:22 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 4 people already have ]

Today, I had my appointment with Dr, Wray as I am not feeling well. Mom noticed that I wasn't eating as much as I usually do and I haven't been all that active which means sleeping even more... This all started on Sunday late afternoon and mom thought that I just was feeling under the weather because wasn't up to eating all that much. When Monday came, I still wasn't eating too much but did pick at some turkey, treats and low sodium imported ham. Dad came home early so that he could keep an eye on me while mom had to work. I ate some more turkey but only a few bites. Dad stayed home to watch the football game instead of going out with his buddy since I wasn't feeling well. Mom called on her break to check on me and when dad explained that my eating habits haven't changed, she called the vet to make the next available appointment, which was this morning. I have been drinking, walking around, going into bed to take naps and sleeping with mom (all on my own) but I still feel more tired than usual. It takes me some time to walk up and down the steps since I am an old fella and do have bad arthritis. Mom also carries me up and down.

Well Cannoli and I went to see Doc together today since Cannoli was due fur his rabies. His heart sounds good is responding well to his heart medication. Cannoli went first and then it was my turn. Well... I lost a little over 1-1/2 pounds since my visit in January which has mom and Dr, Wray quite concerned. I am a 14-1/2 senior with Cardiomyopathy and arthritis, which a has mom worried and she always makes sure that I get my medications. Doc listened to my heart, took my temp and felt all over my body. He did noticed that one of my kidneys felt smaller which could indicate kidney problems. As fur the weight loss, we are not sure what is going on so Doc Wray took a series of blood tests (Complete Senior Comprehensive Custom Profile) which will be back either tomorrow or Thursday. Some of my weight loss is also muscle loss and may even have something to do with my Cardiomyopathy, as well as age. He had mention that I may have issues with either my kidneys (early failure), diabetes or even hyperthyroidism. We'll know soon enough and hopefully be able to take care of the issue. I wasn't given the shot to encourage my eating only because Doc wants to see that's going on first before giving me anything. By the way, I have been classified a "Platinum" Senior. Wow, that means that I'm no longer a silver or gold Senior *giggles*

Please keep me in your purrrs & purrayers that my results will be good. Whatever the outcome, my pawrents will do whatever needs to be to help make me better. As fur eating, I'm still not showing interest but I am going to the bathroom fine and drinking. Getting ready to take a nap since it was an exhausting day fur me. I would like to send a big catgrats to my beautiful sister, Angel Kashmere fur being chosen Catster's Daily Diary Pick 2 days in a row (yesterday & today)... She will always be purrry special to all of us and we miss her every day.

On behalf of my family and me, we would like to send out catdolences and purrayers to Calvin's family. As most of you may have heard, our dear furiend, Calvin made his journey into Heaven, yesterday.

Sending a warm thanks to my furiends fur their Get Well wishes rosettes: My Fam (paw power), Soc & Fam (shrimpie), Ele & Fam (paw power), Charlie & Fam (paw power), Angel Sammie & Fam (paw power).

Kashmere Celebrates Her 6th Month Annifursary In Heaven!

I would like to take this special moment to let everyone know that today marks the 6th month Annifursary since our beloved sister, KASHMERE* made her journey into Heaven. Mom has a candle lit to let her know that we're thinking of her and love & miss her purrry much *wipes eyes* It has been a purrry difficult 6 months fur all of us but we know that she's in a wonderful place with her beloved brother, Angel Picasso. Mom always says that time may help heal the heart but it will never take away the pain that we endure when losing a pet, as they are a member of the family...

This morning, meowmy had to be in work at 7:30 am - 12:30, which is purry early fur her. Dad had to leave fur his work at 4:15 am so it was a bit too early to feed us breakfast at that time. Mom fed us as soon as she got up at 5:45 am. We also get dinner at 5:00 pm along with an evening snackie between 10:00-10:30 pm. This isn't to mention that 3 bowls of dry is also out fur us to eat at all times.

Well, first of all, I would like to meow how beautiful the weather was today, especially fur being the month of October. Before mom left fur work, she opened the windows, knowing that it would be getting warmer. As soon as she came home, there we were, hogging the windows and enjoying the fresh springlike weather... We heard mom talking was she was coming into the home, but we had no idea to who she was conversing with??? OMC... you'll never believe who she was talking to *giggles* Are you ready fur this one? Mom was actually talking to the ladybugs that were sitting on the glass Storm Door. The sudden weather change brought out so many cute little ladybuggies and mom just loves those as well as purrty butterflies. I wonder if the ladybugs answered her back *shakes head* She hopes to see them again, tomorrow...

Tomorrow is mom's off day so she'll be spending the day doing laundry, cleaning the hardwood floors and of course, taking my siblings out fur a stroll. As fur me, I'll pass on that insane AT3 contraption as I prefer the windows instead. DON'T like the stroller at all and never will.

Have a wonderful week my dear furiends and be sure to enjoy this pawsome weather while it lasts. Not sure when it will be getting colder again but we do know that it's suppose to last all week long, Mom may even take her car to get a bubble bath at the car wash, tomorrow!

Sending a warm thank you to Catster fur the cool Halloween Skull giftie!
