Arrival Story:
My previous cat, Pounce, had been put down due to cancer, and after about two months, I decided that I was ready for a new friend. I visited the San Francisco SPCA and Animal Control a few times, and on one visit heard that some feral kitties had just come back from fostering. Scoop (at the time, "Patches") danced and rolled on his back, waiting to be taken out of his cage for play. He latched his little claws around the neck of my sweater, burrowing under my hair, and didn't want to come back out. Later, as I was filling out the adoption paperwork at the front desk, another prospective mom came downstairs, wanting to take Scoop home. I was there in the nick of time! After bringing our pretty tuxedo cat home, it took a *long* time for him to tell us his name. In fact, so many weeks passed, some of our friends call him "Mr. X" to this day. We ended up naming him Scoop because he couldn't get enough of lying on my chest and licking my nose like it was an ice cream cone.

Bio:
Life #1: Lost when Scoop launched himself out of an upstairs windows in order to catch the birds eating from a neighbor's bird feeder. Fortunately, the realization that he could not fly was quickly followed by a lucky fall into my downstairs neighbor's arms, who happened to be outside on that hot summer day and saw the whole thing. (No kidding!) Life #2: Lost due to curiosity, when Scoop decided to personally investigate the lit candle on our nightstand one evening. The whiskers on one side of his face were shriveled husks, and his beautiful blue fur was singed. Though he tried to pretend that nothing had happened, the unsavory scent of burnt cat fur gave him away. (What is that smell?! And why is Scoop hiding under the bed?! Ohhhhh....)
