Arrival Story: After adopting Maya, I wanted to rescue another cat. At the shelter, Jasmine's name was Emily, which is also mine. When I saw this skinny, cowering tabby whose little pink nose was battered with cuts and dried blood, she greeted me with a sad, low mew. I sat next to her, and she nuzzled me profusely. My heart melted; it was meant to be.
Bio: I adopted Jasmine as an adult; her age is unknown. She is a teensy bit clumsy and quite easily spooked, especially by strangers. With trusted friends, however, she is an absolute doll. She often sleeps in bed with me or on my lap and loves to be petted, during which she flops the end of her tail about like a puppy. The only sounds that Jasmine makes are inquisitive coos and high-pitched squeaks.

I've Been On Catster Since:
Jasmine refused to accompany me home for the holidays. A couple of failed attempts to get her into her carrier was all it took for her to lead me on a wild chase throughout the house, thrashing and clawing anytime I took hold of her. When once I did get her cornered, she mewed and mewed and mewed, so sadly that my heart broke and I burst into tears. I attempted to wrap her in a towel to lug her back to the carrier, but she had kicked out of my grip once more within seconds. Then she climbed into a hole in the ceiling in the spare room, and it was hopeless; I gave up.
Instead, I put myself through the nuisance of making the half-hour drive from my parents' home back into town once or twice a day to check on her until some of my housemates returned from their holiday breaks and I put them in charge. Each time I came near, Jasmine skittered off threateningly toward the spare room, even perching on the pile of junk she climbs to reach the hole and looking from it to me as if to say, "Don't come any closer; I'll do it!" Poor thing. However, I quickly earned back her trust when finally I stored the carrier back in the garage and laid out a bowl of fresh wet food for her. I was so relieved, because I am heartbroken whenever I upset either of my little dolls.
Jasmine and Maya get to travel with me home for the holidays for several days coming up soon. It will be my privilege more than theirs, I'm sure. Jasmine hates her cat carrier and Maya hates other cats: I'm predicting that there will be trouble between her and the resident cat, Foolish, who belongs to my sister. But, having them with me will make the holidays brighter because I won't have to miss them, as I do so terribly when they're not near. Plus, I am eagerly awaiting the chance to show them off to my family. I'm worse than a new mother, I swear. :)
Jasmine has tapeworms, the poor darling. She was a very good girl at the vet's yesterday; I am so proud of her. She is taking pills to kill them. She has thrown up two so far.
