Arrival Story: Violet was a neighbor's cat who really didn't care whether they had him or not. He spent a lot of time at our house because he liked our bird feeder. I didn't like seeing him outside in the winter, so he became an inside cat in the winter. I've tried to make Violet an inside cat entirely, but he still loves to go out just for a few minutes each day if the weather is nice. He has never gone back to his original home, and they have never inquired about him. That was several years ago, so he is officially our cat now!
Bio: When I realized where Violet lived, I called and asked why the cat was named Violet if he was a male. The previous owners didn't know when they got the cat that she was a he - and named her Violet. Violet is a very vocal cat. Different cries mean different things. The cry for "I want to go outside" is hilarious - long, drawn out, and so pitiful! If he doesn't get his way, he heads straight for one particular chair to show Mawmee that the claws need sharpening. That is about all it takes for him to go outside. Violet is also a very affectionate cat. He loves to have his face stroked, and likes to knead on your lap. Unlike his sister, Samoa, Violet is loud and walks down the stairs like a herd of elephants! He also likes to play with and groom Calvin. They are so funny to watch. It doesn't take long for a grooming session to turn into a wrestling match!

All I wanted to do was go outside on the front porch and see the kids when they came trick or treating.
I escaped twice when Daddy opened the door to join Mawmee on the front porch. Either I've slowed down, or she is quick, because she grabbed me both times and shoved me back inside the house!
And I didn't even have a chance to say trick or treat, smell my paws, give me catnip, just because!
When Calvin left to make his journey to the bridge, he gave each of us something to do for him. He asked me to write about Onyx - his Pal of the Week this week. He was very sad that he wasn't going to be around to tell you about her. Onyx is special because she is the last pal of the week Calvin had while he was on earth. I'm sure going to miss my best friend.
Calvin picked Onyx this week because she is a beautiful black kitty - purrfect for Halloween week! She is three years old and has lived with her family since she was just a kitten.
Onyx rules her house and isn't afraid to bop a cat if they need it. She must have gone to the same school Samoa did! MOL! She is known as a bug slayer too.
The funniest thing about Onyx is that she likes to be rubbed by her Mommy's foot. She isn't too crazy about being picked up, so she knows getting a rubdown with a foot is not going to get her picked up!
She has a super furry body, and the kind of fur that must get tangled easily because there are several pictures of her with a lion's cut. I'm sure she doesn't like it when that happens, but it probably feels better than getting all matted. I'm glad I've got short hair!
Onyx has a Mommy just like ours. She feeds a bunch of outside cats and then brings them in the house once they trust her. That is how I got here!
Be sure to stop by and invite Halloween Cat Onyx to be your pal! Thanks for being Calvin's Pal of the Week, Onyx! If you read Calvin's diary, you'll see that when he gets settled in at the bridge, he is going to start an Angel Pal of the Week, so be on the lookout!
For those of you who guessed chipmunk, you are right - that was the present that Vivien left on the front porch! Mawmee told her thank you, but we don't need any more presents!
