Arrival Story:
Baby is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen. At least in my eyes she is the most beautiful although she may just be a stray that loves being outdoors rather than home kept. My experience with her has been good so far. She waits for me every morning under the apartment where we live. Sometimes she is so sharp that she catches sight of me and runs towards me before I know it. I feed her whenever I see her. Her favorite food is salmon and she is getting very picky with food ever since she has a taste of it. She loves to be scratched and cuddled. Sometimes she will block our walkpath by laying down and pretending to play dead just to attract our attention. We see her almost every Saturday morning whenever we bring Yogi out for his morning walk. Needless to say, Baby follows us relentlessly (much to the irritation of Yogi). But she doesn't seem to care whether he likes it or not and we walk together like one big family. The thought of it warms my heart every time I think of it. Baby reminds me of a pregnant cat that I used to take care of many years ago. Coincidentally, she is a tri-color cat too. The only difference was that this cat wanted to be owned and wanted a home. There was once she followed me home wanting to be let in but I changed my mind for fear that my folks may reject the idea. Strange enough, I found her dead the very next day and her kittens were no where to be found. I regretted not letting her in and showing enough that I cared because I know inside me I really do. When I see Baby, it reminds me so much of this pregnant cat that I knew briefly. Sometimes I wondered whether she was sent to me from above and giving me another opportunity to show I care and I love her the way she should be loved and deserved. I love seeing Baby. I love taking care of her daily needs. My love for her grows stronger with each day as our contact time increases. I know that Baby wants to lead an outdoor life and she really shows it. This Christmas, I bought her a red cat collar but it was ripped off before even it was a day old on her. I was a little broken hearted and disappointed to find the red collar on the ground when I happened to walk past her favorite resting spot. But it is also her way to convey to me the message that she doesn't like it and possibly not wanting to be owned the way Yogi loves. I never tried putting it on her again and today it is sitting on my writing table. I hope it will find its way to a willing owner soon. Although staying indoors will mean that she will have her regular meals, bath and shelter, I know in my heart that she will never entertain the idea so I have never attempted to bring her home. Because I care about her happiness. I care about her feelings. I will never bring her home if I feel that she is going to be unhappy and prefer to live a life outdoor. For now, I cannot ask for more, I am just happy seeing her almost everyday, running around, looking healthy and most importantly - feeling happy. :)
