Arrival Story:
jeremy and i had been thinking about getting a companion for ole since he had seemed a little depressed lately and we though a friend might give him some motivation. we went to the east bay humane society to show our support for the no kill shelter. the cats were crying in their cages. as i passed by, a paw reached out and grabbed me by the hair. i turned around to see charlotte, an all black kitty who's brothers had already been adopted, leaving her alone. i later learned that is more difficult to find homes for black cats because of stupid supertstition. i had the volunteer open her door and charlotte immediately leapt out onto my shoulder. she proceded to lay on her back like a baby in my arms and lick my face profusely. i had always heard that you should let your pets choose you and it was obvious that charlotte wanted to be mine. and then she was.

Bio:
after living with us for only a month, charlotte was playing in the bathtub when she decided to put her paw down the drain and eat everything she could pull up. she then wandered around the house and ate other strange things she could find. she started vomiting memorial day weekend. we brought her to an emergeny clinic , but after taking x-rays, they couldn't find a blockage and sent her home. she continued to vomit the next day so we went back to the clinic for an abdominal ultrasound, where the blockage was eventually discovered. she was transferred to the pet hospital for urgent surgery. during the operation, they found peices of rubber band and plastic, as well as hair tangeled in her bowel. in another day she was allowed to leave with us, but she was required to wear an elizabethian collar until her stiches came out. charlotte had a quick and complete recovery- it's like this never happened and she's still mischevious as ever. because this occured on a holiday and involved extensive treatment, we had to pay an expensive vet bill. we now affectionately refer to her as our "$3,000 kitty"!
