Arrival Story:
Some neighbors came to us one day, and they had a black kitten with them. It seems that the kittens family had moved, and left their animals behind to fend for themselves. Our neighbors asked us if we could take the little tyke in, as they knew that we loved animals. We figured that our tom Ebonezer had fathered the litter anyway, so we took in the little waif. We named him E.J. (short for Ebonezer Jr.) He was about 4 or 5 weeks old at the time. We instantly fell in love with him. He learned to play "fetch" early on. If you would throw a wadded up paper bag rolled into a ball, he would attack it, and eventually bring it back to you for you to throw for him again. When he was big enough, we let him go outside with George, our older grey tabby. After Muffy died in September 2004, George became the matriarch of our fur family. E.J. followed George around everywhere. George even taught the kitten to hunt. Boy, does EJ love to hunt! EJ is friends with every cat in our family. We sure do love him! He has the shiniest, silkiest coat. Mom loves to stroke him from head to toe any chance that she gets.

Bio:
Since George crossed ofur the Rainbow Bridge in January 2007 (he and I were attacked by two Pit Bulls, and George died of his injuries) I have become the matriarch of our cat furmily. I have earned the respect of my younger siblings. Since I am the only feline allowed to go outside, my sibs long to hear about my hunting skills and accomplishments, so I tell them many stories about my escapades outdoors. The love of my life is Ashley from the East Coast. She is a beautiful grey tabby whom I love dearly. I call her my little "Nature Girl." I wish that we could spend more time togefur! We spend as much time as we can togefur on Catster, so Catster is Number One in my book!

Nose To Nose...

Dear Diary,

Yep! It's high time that I wrote something in my diary mom told me. I know that Meowmy is right, but I just nefur think about putting anything down on paper. My life is purrty exciting I must admit. I get to go outside efurry day, so there really is lots to write about...I just nefur take the time to put pen to paper. I really must be more talkative in my diary. I will try to do better in the future, this I vow.

Still fresh in my mind is an encounter I had with a small animal out in the front yard the ofur night. I actually came nose to nose with the creature! It was too small to eat, so naturally, I had to let it go. And, unsightly, boy was it U G L Y! Mom and Dad call me their "handsome man", and I take pride in looking my best. This poor creature was so comely, I sort of felt sorry fur it. It truly had a face that only a mother could love!

I was walking up the sidewalk into the front yard the other night when I came eye to eye with the thing. It was slowly walking out of the garage towards the driveway. Telling you that the creature was moving "slow" is an understatement. This little mammal was barely moving. Meowmy was right behind me on the sidewalk, and it moved so slowly she thought that it might have been sickly. I gave it a good sniffing from one end to the other, but it was nothing I was interested in eating, so we passed each ofur on the sidewalk, each going our separate ways. Meowmy later told Daddy that the baby opossum was real lucky that I wasn't hungry, because she knows what an awesome hunter I am. Dad agreed with Mom, I am no slouch when it comes to hunting!

Goodbye fur now,

E.J.

A Prayer For All The Street Kitties...

Meowmie came upawn a poem today about street kitties. You know who they are, efurryone sees them out there all alone. Since I was left to wander the country side as a kitten (thanks to my original owners who moved away and left me to fend for myself as a tiny kitten) Mom thought that the poem should be posted here in my diary, because I know what it is like to be homeless. This poem is well written....PLEASE say a purrayer for the street kitties...it is not their fault that they are homeless....

A PRAYER FOR ALL THE STREET KITTIES
Copyright 1997, S L Smith

From kittenhood you lived your life upon unforgiving streets,
Tough existence for a cat, though you never asked for peace,
And now all I can offer you is the needle's final peace.

Think of a world where every litter's planned,
Where every cat is wanted in every town and land,
Why are so many homeless? It's hard to understand

Why every shelter in the land is full of surplus cats and strays,
Praying for adoption within their seven days,
Accusing us of negligence in each compelling feline gaze.

If I took you to a shelter you wouldn't stand a chance
When even cuddly kitties don't get a second glance;
And you just growl and hiss and spit while they all purr and prance.

I hope that God understands why I cannot offer more,
Than a filling bowl of cat food placed outside my door,
And a blanket in the garage so you can rest your weary paws.

You are too wild a spirit to live inside with me,
You need my protection, but you still need to be free,
To neuter and to nurture, that is my responsibility.

And now you're old the time has come to bring you final rest,
That you let me pick you up at last, I feel that I am blessed,
Though I know it's just because you're too weak to resist.

I pray that God has mercy on me and will understand,
That for his wild creature I've done the best I can,
And loved you from a distance, my wild street kitty friend.

For all the other kitties that live upon the street,
I pray someone will neuter them and give them food to eat,
And a helping hand right at the end to ease them into sleep.

If you going around town or countryside, and see a homeless cat, please say a purrayer for him...

Lucky To Be Alive,

E.J.

The REAL Creation Story...

I just walked by the catputer and saw Mom sitting in front of it. She was laughing out loud (LOL). This is what she was reading:

THE CREATION STORY

-On the first day of creation God created the cat.
-On the second day God created man to serve the cat.
-On the third day God created all the animals of earth to serve as potential food for the cat.
-On the fourth day God created honest toil so man could labor for the good of the cat.
-On the fifth day God created the sparkle ball so the cat might or might not play with it.
-On the sixth day God created veterinary science to keep the cat healthy and man broke.
-On the seventh day God tried to rest, but he had to scoop the litterbox.

I don't know WHAT she thought was so funny! I have always thought that this is the way that God created the world.....
