Arrival Story: I moved to New York in June of 2005 and missed my cats fiercely. I had left them in Wisconsin with my dad because I wasn't sure how long I would be here, but once I decided I wanted to stay my first thought was to send for them. Unfortunately my dad had fallen in love with them and we are currently locked in a custody battle.
Anyway, on a particularly cat-missing day, I dragged my then-boyfriend to PetCo, where I knew there was an adoption center. We were subletting for the summer so getting a cat wasn't an option, but I thought perhaps they would let me hold one. I saw Kismet, all big man parts of him, in a small cage on a table and immediately fell in love with his hugeness and his square face. I asked an adoption rep if I could hold him and he told me they try not to do that, so then I asked if I could volunteer.
When I started volunteering, Kismet was gone. I asked a few people but nobody had seen him so I just assumed he'd been adopted and stopped asking. But then, almost 3 months later, I got an email saying he had been in foster care and was now available for adoption. I immediately responded and now he is all mine :)

Bio: No one knows Kismet's background, exactly. The adoption rep doesn't remember how or when he was surrounded (although he speculates that Kismet was just left at the pet store). I like to think he ran with a gang of chihuahuas. And that it was KISMET that he came to me! :)
