Arrival Story: Jasmine was the pet of some kids across the street. She would run across the street to see me when I was out gardening. I tried to discourage her because it was dangerous to cross the street, but she was determined. Meanwhile, this family kept losing their animals to horrible accidents that were the result of leaving them out in the front yard. A beautiful little pug was killed in the street, and when the children told me about it they sounded casual and offhand about it. A few weeks later Jasmine darted in through our front door and settled on a cushion. We looked at each other and understood right away - time to get a litter box. We would have given her back if they'd even bothered to look for her, but alas, they forgot about her instantly. She's been with us ever since!

Bio: Jasmine is very attached to our two labradors and she gives them kisses. She forgives them every time they trample her by accident, although she rules the other two kitties, Maddie and Meaghan, with an iron fist. She beats Maddie up and then grooms her. Meaghan she mostly just beats up if Meaghan oversteps her bounds.

Jasmine's week has consisted of a few wonderful things - naps with her humans, her "salad bar" (kitty grass), and a newfound love of canned food.
I just got back in town after seeing Mom for a few days, and Jasmine is very pleased about having me back! She took a nap in my suitcase as soon as I unpacked it. Then she took a nap with me.
Her appetite has been good because all three ladies are on a little diet. Feeding time for canned food is 5:30 p.m., and she is rarin to go, an unusual trait for her. She had previously said she only liked dry cat food. Also, she loves her kitty salad more than ever.

Jasmine finally had to go get vaccinations - her owner could put it off no longer! So Daddy packed up Jasmine and Maddie and they went to 15th St. Vet Group. Jasmine didn't try to bite the vet this time! She didn't even hiss. She was a very good girl but her leg was sore afterwards, as always. Maddie was totally oblivious, as usual. The vet says they both need their teeth cleaned. In fact, all five babies need it this year. Major investment, but will be worth it. Mommy couldn't come along to the vet because she was in Florida, but when she came back she was proud that her girls had been good.

Jasmine has been enjoying all the visitors we've had lately. Instead of hiding in a bedroom, she often comes right out to investigate. Last night, we had a large party and one of our guests picked her up, and she looked like she was in heaven.
She's also been more social than ever with her dogs, Dante and Sophy. Dante loves to sleep on the futon, especially when Daddy can be persuaded to cover him with a blanket. Well, this looked inviting to Jasmine, so she settled in right on top of the dog! He didn't seem to mind at all - see the picture on this page. Very amusing.
Jasmine is about 8 years old now and she's in her prime. All the cats are about that age, and the dogs are 6 and 5 years old. The household is settling down and everybody is becoming great friends.
