Arrival Story:
Johann was more dead than alive when I found him outside my house. He was tiny with eyes infected shut and a severe respiratory infection. He was badly flea-bitten with huge patches of fur missing, and he had worms and mites. His left eye was so ulcerated and infected, it was opaque with greenish/yellowish pus oozing out. Although I am not usually hesitant to euthanize an animal when I feel the prognosis is extremely bleak and they are suffering greatly, something told me he would make it. Sobe, the castle dragon (my rescued iguana), being very territorial, initially tried to lunge at Johann. I calmly told him "it's a baby and he's hurting, be gentle with him." Sobe listened to me and he and Johann (who has healed and blossomed) have become best friends! Johann, blind in the left eye, is the most loving cat in the house! He loves everybody, regardless of their species!
