Arrival Story:
When I moved into my apartment in 1991, it was the first time I had ever lived somewhere without a cat. The lady in the apartment above had Samantha and was looking to get rid of her. The maintenance man knew that I was looking for a cat so he came to me and asked me if I wanted her...he even went to the apartment manager and had the pet deposit and additional rent waived (I had just graduated college and was broker than broke). Her original name was Rothko but it didn't really fit her and since she looked like the cat from the opening credits of Bewitched, I named her Samantha.

Bio:
Samantha and I moved in with my husband in February of 2003. We started to notice that she just wasn't herself and took her to the vet. Because of her disposition (difficult to say the least), I didn't take her to the vet often. She was very mean and the vets always had to sedate her to even do a basic checkup and give her shots. Since she was completely indoors, I was told that the shots were absolutely necessary. Anyway, the tests results came back and her liver levels were 4 times the normal limit. After talking to the vet, we decided that any further testing or treatment was too difficult. We didn't want to put her under any more than necessary because her compromised liver couldn't process toxins very well. So, I was told to love her and watch for signs. The signs probably started showing up in February 2004 but I was student teaching and couldn't handle the emotions of putting her down during a stressful time (very selfish I know). The final signs came in May when she was constantly throwing up undigested food and had lost complete control of her bladder. Her eyes and gums had also turned yellow so we knew how sick she had really become. We made the very painful decision to end her suffering on May 29, 2004. It was quick and painless and I know she is now in a better place enjoying all of the chicken she wants. She was one of the meanest cats I had ever seen, but she was mine and I loved her dearly. She is still missed to this day.

My View From The Bridge

Wow!

Wow! Kitties can type! I knew I was smart when I was with Mommy but I never knew I was this brilliant. Life here over the bridge is a lot of fun. I still miss my Mommy and Daddy. I didn't get to have a lot of time with Daddy before I left but I really liked him...he gave me chicken and called me "Pretty Girl". I even miss my little brother Mack.

Mommy told me that she found some pictures of me before I got sick and she's going to try to put them on my page. I can't wait! I want everyone to see what I looked like before I started feeling so yucky. I was really quite beautiful. Everyone said so even if I wasn't the nicest of kitties. I didn't mean to be mean...it was just my nature. I was always nice to Mommy though...I used to sleep with her and sit next to her on the couch.

Well, it's time to go play with all of my new friends. Now that I don't hurt anymore, I love to play. Don't tell Mommy but I hurt a long time before the vet told her I was so sick. I just wanted to stay around because I knew how much she loved me. But, then she met the man who became my Daddy and I knew I could come here.

Ooooh....there's a big field of catnip. See ya later.
Sami
