Arrival Story:
I found Booger alongside the road early one morning 7 years ago. At first I thought it was trash blowing around in the road lane, but with a curious movement to it, I decided to stop and see exactly what the little black object was. It turned out to be a tiny, frail, flea-infested kitten whose face was completely encrusted in snot. I brought him home and immediately called the vet, and took him in. She was skeptical that he would live, as he was infested with worms, fleas , had a massive respiratory infection, and was severely anemic. I actually didn't bother taking pictures of him because I thought he wouldn't live week. As it turned out his health rapidly improved, although his runny nose did not. We named him Booger and tried to live with him. As he probably came from a long line of feral cats , he was nearly impossible to handle as he matured. There were point in time when we thought we would have to just make him live outside. Then one day I picked him up by the scruff of his neck and he just curled into a submissive ball. That was the answer and the reason why Booger enjoys a comfy winter by the woodstove and lazy summer days in the A/C. Cats taken from their mothers too early need to be told who is "momma" and by scruffing him like momma cat from time to time he has learned who is to be respected. He is the ultimate yard-panther, with all the bad habits of outdoor cats...bringing home half-dead little critters as gifts. He has many friends in the neighborhood , comes home smelling like someone elses cologne, and leaves his collar on neighbors porches. A true man of mystery.
