Arrival Story:
We looked at many rescue organizations for months for a young cat for Raven. Raven is a dominant cat, so a younger cat seemed the best bet for them to get along. There were very few kittens and when there were, people were lined up outside waiting to adopt one. We weren't interested in racing people to get our hands on a kitten, so we waited and Raven kept hauling her stuffed dog around the house for company. Finally Cat City run by PAWS had some kittens. I got there before they opened and watched the kittens in the viewing room for 45 min. By the time they opened, I was pretty sure Sage was the kitty for us. She had been wonderful at dealing with all the kittens and the adult cat in the viewing room--unflappable, friendly, not pushy. She seemed pretty wise--hence her name. So I brought her home. We expected it to take days for Raven and Sage to start getting along, but it took less than 12 hrs.

Bio:
Sage is the most sweet tempered cat I've known. She loves Raven and us and she was the first of the two cats to accept Saffron the dog. She loves to snuggle and crawl up on my shoulder to nestle in my neck. She's in the habit of expecting to be held when I brush my teeth, which was easy when she was a kitten, but isn't as easy now. When she was a kitten, her favorite toy was a blue plastic pom-pom I made. She'd grab it and run around the house even though she couldn't see around it. She also loves to leap in the air for the toy mice we throw for her. Sage has a huge vocabulary and talks a lot. Her meows sound like a tiny kitten's and she also squeals, chirps, yodels, trills, murmurs, peeps, barks, squeaks, and grunts. She will sometimes purr if you just say her name. She loves lounging in their windowbox watching the birds. She likes me to "fly" her around the house after flying bugs, but she lunges and swings with such abandon it's hard to keep a hold of her. She thoughtfully eats the moths Raven catches and then discards when they're dead. She is a pretty good guard kitty and will growl at strange noises outside. When she first did that, I couldn't believe that sound was coming from her. She also patrols our yard from inside the house keeping an eye on any intruders--feline or raccoon. She follows their movement by going from window to window in a very serious and officious manner until they're off her property. She got the nickname "Stampy" because at times when she's feeling very social, she stamps around the house--loudly enough that we can hear her when she's upstairs. Poor Sage was very jumpy for several weeks after a large earthquake and Raven took every opportunity to startle her and make her "foof" her tail. Sometimes I think she just pretends to be startled to make Raven happy. Sage puts up with the dog licking her and herding her in slow motion--she just squeals and walks under Saffron's stomach when she's had enough. I know the day she discovers how much heat the dog gives off will be the beginning of a snuggly friendship with both of them in heaven. Sage sets a good example for us all--enjoy yourself, don't hold grudges, tell your family you love them. She's the sweetest.

The rules: Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write on their own blog about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

1. Sage loves to yodel and gurgle when she's feeling fruity.

2. She has to be tucked up tight against me at night to sleep.

3. When she was a kitten she needed me to be with her when she ate.

4. Sage loves to catch treats in the air and eat them. Treats that don't get tossed to her are boring.

5. Sage tried to nurse on Raven when we brought her home. Raven was NOT amused.

6. She thinks my hairbrush is her and should be used on her cheeks, before I get to use it.

7. Sage patrols our yard from inside the house by going from window to window to window around the house to make sure any trespassers get out of her yard.
