Well, the diary gal thought I need to be a diary pick. So I thought I'd better write something worth reading for you. (not that saving fishes isn't worth reading)

It was fluffy-raining here yesterday. I woke up and big flakes slid down the window. I tried to catch two. Timo ran out on the Patio expecting sun to warm his fur. He turned around and ran right back inside (must not get the fur wet). Then I ran from window to window and told Mom: Mom, it's fluffy raining here too. What's fluffy rain? Well, we are not allowed to use the S-word because it's May 3rd already!! For crying out loud. Makes me wanna cry seeing all that. We got 1.1 inches. At least we broke a record. It never fluffy-rained this late in the year this far south in Iowa. One area in northern Iowa got 11 inches :(

Heck Sunday was in the 70s, Monday 86! Tues & Wedn in the 50s AND NOW THIS. Mom planted Geraniums and Petunias in two containers Sunday. It was sooooo nice, she said she HAD to plant something. What are the birds going to do? There is fluffy rain in their nests. I hope they have flood insurance. It fluffy-rained some more last night. Waiting for it to melt off my lawn :(

We are out of dishwasher detergent and that made me think of the fish and of Earth Day. Earth day was a few days ago, but you can still celebrate by saving the fish. If every household in the U.S. replaces just one 45 oz. box of regular dishwasher detergent with phosphate free detergent we could prevent 60 million pounds of phosphates from going into the rivers and lakes. And that saves fish! Please have your purrson look for this stuff next time they go shopping. It's widely available and doesn't cost much more.

Mom was wondering why there are chips on the table and on the floor. Very strange. Is the bag defective? Yes, there is a hole in the bottom. It's a paper chips bag. I wonder who chewed a hole in the bag?

I have to go and help Mom fill out her bracket. Mom knows nothing about BBall. She isn't done yet but I think she made some mistakes already. She picked Arizona to loose (hope Samoa doesn't find out), the Iowa Cyclones to loose (I can understand that, we are Hawkeye Fans). I better help with this. I hope she wins the pool and then I'm going shopping with her prize money.

Speaking of Samoa- Stop by on Samoa's Page to learn how to help Kitty. Kitty and her kitten live at Blizzard's place . Blizzard's Dad is an angel for helping them.

Please pawmail the wonderful Miss Samoa McBoa for info on how to help.
And here is the Facebook link, hope this works, we's not on Facebooky

You have to take out the space that catster will put into the link. Or just pmail Samoa. That might be easier.

Nocat has ever asked me if I wanted to be their Valentine. I think that's because I'm a wild thing and that scares the man cats away. Now finally the wonderful cute Zeke has asked me if I want to be his Valentine and I said YES! *jumping up and down for joy* Isn't it meowvelous? I am such a lucky girl. I have a Valentine!

We were sitting next to each other in one of our groups, watching a movie and that's when I first noticed how handsome he is. I love gazing into his green eyes and I like his orange floofy fur. Oh, I am so happy! Thank you, Zeke, for asking me.

And we have so much in common. We are both 11 years old. We are both Tabbies. We like to sleep on people's laps or on our Mom's. We both have asthma. Well, my vet doc says I have asthma but I've been fine ever since one episode in the summer. The doc says there are stripes on my lungs but I think those are just my Tabby stripes. I'm striped inside and out.

Mom? May I talk to you?

- Sure Mietzi. What's up.

I was thinking... Are printers very expensive?

- Well, that depends. Some are cheap. Some do a lot of stuff and cost more. Why do you ask?

I think we should buy a new one.

- Why Mietzi? Our printer still prints fine.

Well, you see I was sitting on the printer. And you know that new food you bought me? The one with the white sauce in the green can?

- Yes

Chicken Florentine is what it's called. I thought that sounds so fancy. I thought I would like it. It went down OK. But then I think the Chicken wanted to go to Florentine...I think that's in Italy... The chicken came back up and now it's on the printer. And you know the slit where you put the paper in, and then the printer goes rrreeeeet rreeeeet rrreeeeeet? There is a bit of Chicken Florentine in there now.

Oh hi. How are you doing with your holiday preparations? Are you ready for Christmas? Did you help your Mom with the tree? Did you help Pawpy carry in the gifts and arrange them under the tree? Did you snoopervise that all three Wise Men are in the Manger? Helped to write cards? Wrapped gifts? Held the ribbon in place?

The holidays are so busy. I think we finally got Mom ready.
We are going to get a winter storm tomorrow afternoon. 6 to 8 inches of snow. Our first snow of the season. Hopepurrly Mom can come home early from work and maybe stay home Purrsday too if the roads are too bad. Too bad, MOL.

Gotta go. I have some more wrapping paper to tear up.
Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

I officially declare bunny hunting season open! I was outside yesterday afternoon and I got one! See picture on my page. I brought it back to the patio and Timo was outside too. We were both so excited. Mom made us both go inside and you know what? This morning when I looked, my nice bunny was GONE. I wonder what happened to it?

Anyway, I was telling Mom Wednesday night already that Bunny hunting season is open and I need to get out there and do something about the bunny population. I was out earlier and I saw a big one but Mom picked me up and made me go inside. So I yollered and yelled and meowed until 2:30 in the morning telling Mom to let me back outside. The bunnies are waiting. Didn't work. I got a time out in the laundry room for a few minutes and after that I went to sleep in Mom's bed.

I know where the bunnies are. I'm taking orders! You can get your very own bunny! I'm charging two small cans of wet food and two mouths full of kibble (Timo said I'll HAVE TO ask for kibble for him). The bunny on my page is just an example. Each is a unique original. Actual merchandise may vary in size and color. I'll have the mail Eagle deliver them to you. Don't be surprised if your bunny looks funny. He said he'll have to charge 30% delivery fee.

OK, send your orders in. I'll start filling them tomorrow. Today is a rainy day.

Well, I woke up early to use the facilities and I see that I'm a DDP. I think I'm gonna need some purrs please friends and some prayers too.

My meow is not back. Instead Mom dragged me to the vet again yesterday after she was done shopping. She thought I felt hot (Did not. Mom, maybe you were cold. Maybe that's why I felt hot), my nose was dry (I had JUST gotten up from a nap) and I was still coughing (Yes, that is true. I was) Also, there was some stuff coming out of one eye and I was squinting it.

At the vet I got to see our favorite Dr. She is the best one there. She looked at me intently, poked and prodded. Mom said she wanted my temperature checked. (Mom, can you not keep your mouth shut?? She wasn't even going to check it until you said something). Nice vet Lady checked my temp. I was NOT happy with that procedure. Mom said for some reason I don't like coming here. Noooo, not if I'm treated like this. My temperature turned out to be just right for a cat.

So Mom told the long story of what happened to my meow, that I've lost it a week ago, and everything. Vet Lady said I'm old. WHY does every person keep saying that? And they want some blood. Wait a minute, I just gave some on Monday! This time Mom agreed with me. Oh! vet lady said, let me go get those results. Next she wanted to take a picture of my lungs. Mom let them do that. I tried to smile for the camera but I'm just not feeling like smiling at this point.

My photos were done and vet lady and Mom looked at them. Apparently there are some lines in my lungs. Those are the teeny tiny strands where the air moves thru. Deep down in the bronchi or something. Looks like that is irritated.

So now here is the bad news. It could be Asthma, it could be heart worm. I got a shot of Depo-Medrol. I ate a good lunch when I got back home, then I took a loooong nap. I think I got up around 8 pm and ate some supper. Well, bummer. I don't want worms in my heart. There is no room for worms in there. My heart is full of love for Mom and Timo and stupid guest cat too I guess, and for all of my Catster friends.

UPDATE: I'm feeling better! I got up at around 8 and meowed at Mom just like normal. Ate some breakfast too. The medicine is working :)

Oh thank catness, it all works again. I have missed meowing so much. I don't talk as much yet as I used to but some is better than nothing. Where was my meow? I don't know. I think maybe I had forgotten it outside. That's where I first got it back yesterday. My first word was Gack! when Mom said we're going inside again. That's my usual sound of strong disagreement. Mom went outside with me yesterday evening and I ate some grass. Grass is good for you if you have something stuck in your throat. I hadn't been allowed outside since Caturday, since my meow first disappeared.

Once back inside we watched 'Master Chef' and I really started to talk when the contestants were asked to cook steaks.

Mom came home and found a little present on the carpet. A nice, big hairball. Am I ever happy to finally get rid of that thing. Do you know what it feels like to have a hairball stuck in you since Caturday? Eating that grass yesterday sure helped.

There is a lot of noise going on in the condo above us. Somebody new moved in Caturday and I can hear him arrange his furniture and sometimes he drops something heavy. The condo was empty for a month. That was nice. Hey, Caturday is when I lost my meow. Do you think the neighbor moving in could have something to do with it? Did he steal my meow? I bet he did. I better send him his reward. His very own Guest Cat! Sally girl come here a minute sweetie.

(Skip to the last paragraph if you want to know about the reward)
Well, this was only one of the worst days efur! As you know I've lost my meow Friday night. So this morning I was not able to wake Mom up. Usually I meow until she wakes up. Guest Cat offered to help me. Some of you know, we have a guest cat. She's not really ours. She's just visiting. She can't be ours because we have a limit on how many kitties we can have (homeowners association crazyness). I am really NOT supposed to talk about her, so Psssst. So guest cat walked accross Mom's head once at 6:00 am. It was already an hour later than when I usually wake Mom up. I told guest cat that isn't gonna cut it.

She said, don't worry, I have a plan. A minute later Mom shot out of bed, hollering Owie, No Sally, What are you doing? Then she ripped all the sheets of the bed, ran to the laundry room, threw them in the washer. Ran back, got some shamy cloth and cleaning solution and was dabbing like mad at the mattress. Wow, so much activity so early in the morning! Guest Cat was grinning and said to me: See, I told you I can get her up. I thunk at her: Oh girl, are you in trouble. Not only did you pee on the bed, you also tried to cover it up and had your claws out and nicked Mom's leg.

Our breakfast finally got served, only an hour late. I ate a good breakfast. Then I went to lay on the bed with no sheets and no mattress pad and no little flannel sheet for the cats either. Several loads of laundry got done. I had just settled in nicely on the bed with no sheets when Mom grabbed me and stuffed me into the carrier.

Into our Cat Recreational Vehicle we went. It was my first ride in our new CRV and I did not enjoy it. They didn't do any of the cat specifications that we had ordered! No cat beds and cozy blankets, no scratch pad on the walls, no sushi bar in the glove compartment. After a short ride we walked into that dreadful place that smells like many dogs, many cats and some small critters.

So this was a new Vet Doc who we didn't know yet. The one we like was not available until Purrsday. Mom told her about my missing meow. I got checked out and we're none the wiser. Doc said I don't appear to be sick. Could be allergies, could be some bug, something that's going around, a lot of humans are sick too. Did Mom have the windows open lately. Yep, sure did. We went from like 96 down to mid 70s and it was lovely. Did the open windows bother me? Well, no. What kind of a question is that anyway. It's not like I'll go: Excuse me Mother, there is a draft coming thru. Would you mind closing the bedroom window please? Good news: I gained some weight. I'm almost 8 pounds.

Then I got my rabies shot. I needed one anyway. Next they wanted blood because I'm old ( AM NOT!!!) and it's a good idea to check old cat's blood. So Mom said yes, that's OK. They took me to the back where they keep the vampires. They're sending my blood to a Lab to check out. The humiliation to have a dog look at my blood. The Lab will call tomorrow. Back into my carrier and home, sweet home.

Once home I barfed out all my breakfast in three episodes of barfing. Most of it landed on the carpet. Mom needs a new giant bottle of Natures Miracle, MOL. Once I was done retching I hid under the bed. Oh, in the meantime Mom had emailed her boss: "I'll be in when the cat is done throwing up, MOL." Maybe I shouldn't have that rabies shot after all. Mom had lunch at home. All was quiet. I was resting under the bed. Where was guest cat? Hiding under the couch. That's right, she better hide after the pee episode. Timo had a very nice morning watching the lawn care guys mow and trim.

Mom did go to work. Came home late. We all greated her at the door, like we always do. I did meow twice today. But mostly I'm just not speaking with Mom right now. The good news is that I ate supper and I'm not hiding. I participte in the usual family life, lay in all me normal places.

Natalie the NatCat inspired me to offer a REWARD FOR THE RETURN OF MY MEOW. I'm offering one bag of natural cat treats AND your very own guest cat! Guest cats are fun to have around. This one has very unique ideas. I need to think at Mom to set her alarm clock now. We don't want a repeat of this morning.

My meow is gone. I open my mouth and nothing comes out. Well, sometimes a little croak comes out. It disappeared Friday night. Mom says I sounded like a horse Friday night. Saturday I couldn't meow at all, today I managed a little meow twice. But I've just been sleeping a lot today. I don't even bug Mom to be let out, which I usually always do - every day. I asked Mom once today to go outside and she sternly looked at me and said I have an owie and cats with owies cannot go outside.

If anypurr finds my meow, could you please send it back by expurress delivery? I miss my meow. I have such a strong voice.

I still eat and I took a cat bath too. My nose is wet, I don't think I have a fever. I'm just more quiet today. I coughed a little earlier. Where could my meow be? It's very strange not to have a meow. I talk a lot usually. Mom says it's very quiet in the house. Timo thinks I've just meowed too much lately and worn it out. Can that happen?

Mom made some kind of an appointment for me for tomorrow morning. I hope I get to do something fun.

Mom and I have an exiting weekend planed. Tomorrow Mom is invited to go to a new restaurant called The OP. Mom asked her friend if that is The Opossum Place? No, her friend said, it's The Opossum Palace! It's a new restaurant and it isn't even officially open yet. Tomorrow some people get a free entree and drink so that the serves can train how to serve opossums correctly. That Opossum will taste so good.

Then Sunday Mom and I are going to the Opera to see "La Rondine" also know as "The Swallow". Only one ticket came in the mail but that's OK because I will sit in Mom's lap so that I can see the Swallow better. Mom says there will be a lot of singing in that show. Well, yes, Swallows always sing a lot. I wonder how close to the stage we will be sitting. Maybe I could reach out a paw and ..... Whoops, where did that Swallow go?

It's been very hot here, in the 90s all week. I got to go outside yesterday evening for a few minutes. Hope you'll all have a nice weekend.

Thank you to everypaw who stopped by with birthday wishes and presents on Caturday. My birthday was okay I guess. It was raining off and on and I couldn't go outside like I had planned. I got nothing on my birthday from Mom.

Sunday, the day after my birthday, I expected lots of presents but I only got special food. A pouch of chicken and shrimp, mmmh. Sunday was super hot here and instead of celebrating my birthday, Mom went to something called the art fest. She only lasted two hours, then it good too hot. Then some neighbors and her grilled and I was NOT invited. Hmph. How rude. Mom says there was two dogs, one of them a puppy, on tie out leashed and they were wrestling and jumping and I would not have enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed the grilled chicken! Anyway, I am two years old now, 1+1 and I feel great. I run zoomies every day like a kitten.

When Mom got home today, I ran outside and something strange was going on. Somebody had left a big hairdryer on and the air was very, very hot. Mom says it's not a hairdryer, it just feels that way. Mom carried me back inside after a minit. Today it was 101 degree here with 111 heat index (whatever that is but I like that number), tomorrow will be 95 and Fryday will be 92. I am expecting more presents from Mom, I do need new mini-mouses. Mom mumbled something about it being too hot to go shopping. Monday and Tuesday flew by. Mom was very busy at work and had to work longer.

I wanted to say Thank Mew to all the furs who gave me something for my birthday. I love you all and appurreciate your thoughtfullness:

Ice Cream: Monida - Finney, Lacey and Angel Alex - Tabatha Teddy Bearz and family
Ice cold Lemonade: Pinkie, Biggles, Nonny, Buddy, Fluffy, Stripey and family

Typing a comment on a diary, the print is so small, I think I need to borrow Mom's glasses? Also, has our page gotten smaller and the background bigger? Maybe Catster just wants more space for their ads and they made our pages narrower? I don't see the ads, I use an ad blocker.
Yesterday afternoon all us cats were taking a nice nap. Mom was complaining that everything had gotten so dirty and she needed to do some cleaning. Well, it wasn't our fault that things were dirty! Everybody knows that cats are very clean animals. Mom cleaned the kitchen and the room that holds her human litter box and bath tub and sink. The whole time classical music was playing on the radio. Mom thought it was calming for us. Well, we enjoyed it. More than scrubbing the toylett anyway, MOL. Mom's gotten into classical music recently. And yesterday they played "The Magic Flute" AND they sang it in German. Now Mom grew up in Germany. So she thought she'd listen, it might be fun. Well, Mom isn't used to listening to Opera. Even tho they sang German, Mom understood very litte (maybe it was just because she was scrubbing the toylett at the same time?). Some of it was spoken dialog. That was better to understand. I was listening too, because one of the characters is a BIRDCATCHER.

Today Mom went bike riding with some friends in waterworks park. They got off to a good start, then they stopped after a mile to talk about which way to go. There was a Port-A litterbox for humans there and one of her friends went to use it. She came back out and said that she is sick. Really, really, really sick with cramps and things. Then she disappeared back into the Port-A litterbox for humans and she didn't come back out for half and hour! Really. Mom and her friends didn't want to leave her alone in case she would pass out or something, and she kept saying she'll be out in a few minits. Finally she came back out, feeling sick as a dog, and she said she texted her hubby and he's coming. Mom and her friends rode on for another six miles. They saw a cormorant bird, a bunny, a redwinged blackbird. They heard a woodpecker pecking wood. An eagle flew overhead. A helicopurr flew overhead giving rides because there was some kind of festival going on that they drove by. There were lots of humans outside, biking, walking, roller-blading. It was a purrfect day, except we didn't get to go along. And except the poor lady that got sick.

We hope you had a happy weekend. Why can't Mom have tomorrow off like last Monday? Not fair. We need more holidays.

Hi furs:

I wanted to say THANK MEW to Gleek and Tyson who sent something special on my DDP day. Thank you also to all the kitties who left comments. I love comments.

What's the Mietz up to? Not much. Our Cat Recreational Vehicle, with the name Honda, got his much needed bath and he's not stinky at all any more. We have not been allowed to ride in it yet, which I don't understand since it's our CRV. I think Mom is breaking it in for us. She mentioned that it runs for 24 miles on one gallon of milk. I'd gladly run 24 miles to get a gallon of milk. I love milk. Or maybe I could walk 12 miles and get half a gallon?

Mom got rubber floor mats for our CRV. You know what that means. When we finally take a ride in it, we can puke in it.

Mom finally got back to meeting with gym guy yesterday. She had been seriously slacking off. It was so funny. She was stepping on the elliptical steppy thingy and gym guy walks over and says: Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. Where have you been?
Mom is like: um, yeah I've been busy. Work is just crazy you know.
He's like: really? What's going on at work?
Mom says: um, we had our annual meeting and committee meetings and lots of stuff. It should slow down in the summer.
Gym guy: Well, great to have you back.

Way to go, gym guy, keeping Mom accountable.
Mom thinks it's kinda frustrating. She took 786 steps and burned 51 calories. 51? Mom gains 51 calories by just looking at food, MOL.

Have a great week, friends. The weather has been in the lower 80s but I haven't been allowed out much. grrrr

Oh, where do you think our first ride in the CRV should go? (if anypurr says Vet, I'll come over and smack you)

Wow, brofur wrote all these diary entries about the car and I end up being a diary pick today. Ladies first, right? Thank you, Diary Lady. Since I'm a diary pick, I thought I'd update you on the great car hunt.

The great car hunt is over! Mom successfully hunted us down a Cat Recreational Vehicle, also known as CRV. Mom gave our CRV a name too. It's Honda. Our CRV was born in 2010 and he has only run 6600 miles so far.

Mom got him Tuesday night from this guy named Dealer. She wasn't even planning on bringing something home, she just wanted to look. Mom was so proud of herself because she haggled successfully, got a good price for the little Pontiac we had, got good financing. Mom was happy, until she drove him home.

The new CRV stinks! Literally!

He is a smoker's CRV. Pew eee. Mom didn't notice when she did the test drive. It was 83 and humid outside and the dealer guy had the AC turned up to the max and the AC has an air filter. See, this would not have happened if I would have helped Mom hunt cars. I would have smelled it right away. Well, the dealer guy said they've only had the CRV for a week and Mom thinks they only vacuumed him out but didn't shampoo yet. Mom has been driving with the windows partly down alot and the moon roof open too. And she leaves him sitting in the garage with all the windows down and roof open. Mom talked to a detailer and next Purrsday our CRV will get a good bath on the inside. Mom already had the cabin filter changed (it was as grey as my friend Roger's fur) and the smell is much better already. Mom also keeps a half a cup of baking soda in the CRV. Bottoms up.

I hope we cats don't need to go anywhere until our CRV has had his bath.

I got to go outside yesterday a bit, Mom right by my side. We've had 91 yesterday, 83 the day before. Lovely.

Have a happy Sunday everypurr,
Mietzi

That's it. I'm putting Mom on a diet. This morning she put on her pants and *POP* the button flew right off. Mom says it's NOT because she has gained weight. No, the button was just loose. Yeah right. No more cookies, donuts or chocolate for Mom. I'm putting my paw down. Eat some mousies, Mom. They are slimming.

Today at work there was samiches left over from some event that they had. There was Roasted Beef samich and Turkey samich and Hamster samich and some fruit and cookies. Mom could only find one tupperware container. So she put two samiches in the container, together with straw-berries, grapes and cantelope. She drizzled some of that white fruit dip stuff on top and tucked a cookie into the side of the container too. Mom thinks this is fine. It all goes into one stomach.

Mom has this habit of calling me 'Mietzi Mouse'. I don't like it. I'm not a mouse. Today my answer to that name was GACK!

Then she hits me in the eye! She was holding a can of cat food and moving her hand and at the same time I jumped up on the counter and BLAP, I jumped right into her moving hand. So Mom starts saying: Oh Mietzi Mouse, I'm sorry Mietzi Mouse, I didn't mean to hit you. Are you OK Mietzi Mouse? Mietzi Mouse?

I had to shake my head a few times. I told Mom that I'm shaking it off and just stop with the Mietzi Mouse already, I'm OK.
It wasn't bad, really. It was not like when Finney got hit in the eye by his Mom by accident and he wouldn't talk to her for weeks or even months I think. He was upset for a very long time anyway.

Oh, I'm about half done going around to folks and saying my thank yous for all your pressies and things when I was cat of the week and DDP. As soon as Mom stops stuffing her face with left-over samiches I'll get right back to it.

Have a happy fish Fryday.

Oh my 'Cat of the Week' week is over already. Concats to new Cat of the Week Chloe
http://www.catster.com/cats/886882

I had fun. Mom was so slow in letting me have fun here. Cats send me so much stuff and trophies and pictures and Mom didn't even let me look at some of them until yesterday. I need a new Mom. Maybe Hunter and I can switch Moms? I hear he is sometimes not happy with his Mom either.

It is Wednesday and, what is this? Mom is home already? Usually she doesn't get home until late on Wednesday. Sometimes she helps serve food at her church and there is other stuff on Wednesdays too. Hmm, I wonder if I could help her serve the food? Last Wednesday was cheeseburgers, yum. Mom says she'll still help on Wednesdays once in a while but she's cutting down on her other Wednesday night stuff. It's just getting too much. Yay!

While we're talking about food: do you know a good place to order cat food? PetFoodDirect doesn't have the NEW blue buffalo flavors that we like. I didn't see them anyway. We got to sample those during my Cat of the Week. There is chicken & salmon, chicken & duck, chicken & trout, chicken & turkey. We love the two-flavor ones.

An OFFICIAL thank you note is coming to all of you. Mom needs to help me get that all together now that she's available on Wednesday nights. Thank you so very much for the gifts and pawmails, pictures and friend-requests.

Love ya,
Mietzi

Furs, I'm sorry for not being here much. Mom's boss broke her wrist, the right one, the one she writes with. So she can't write and Mom has so much work to do. I have never broken anything except Mom's Camel.

I want to thank the Catster Cat for picking little old me as Cat of the Week. I'm just a regular stripey cat. I am really honored. Thank you so much. They picked me because a few nights ago I tore a hole into Mom's Good Book (see last diary entry). Stuff like that gets you the Cat of the Week title. They wrote that I'm a mouser extraordinaire. I like that. Mousing is my favorite thing.

Thank you to all of you who have brought gifts, send pawmails, comments, friend-requests. I'll come around and thank you all purrsonally, eventully :)

We're having pawsome weather, in the 70s all week, very unusual for Iowa this early in the year. Yesterday Mom came home late. She helped serve Cheeseburgers at her Church. They have these activities for kids and things for adults too on Wednesday nights. I could smell Cheeseburgers on her when she finally made it home. Not fair.

Day before yesterday I got to go outside a bit after Mom came home. Mom thought I wandered off too far, so she put me into the bedroom and then Timo and her went back outside. Not fair. Later Mom opened a window for me and I sat there and smelled the air and listened to the birdies. Many of them are back, by the way. I've seen robins.

Monday early morning hours - I needed something from Mom. Mom was sleeping. I meowed. No answer. Now what? Ah, I have an idea. I threw Mom's little jewelry box off the shelf. That made a loud noise. Very good. Mom gets up, chases me out of the bedroom and shuts the door! Not fair.

Monday night - Mom came home late. Weather was pawsome. We didn't get to go out because Mom was tired. Not fair. Checked email. Wow, why so many from Catster? WOW, I'M CAT OF THE WEEK. YIPPEEE.

I think my Cat of the Week week could go a little better. Mom needs to be reminded constantly that I'm Cat of the Week. She needs to give me more treats, more toys, play more with me, spend more time with me. What's wrong with you Mom? Come on. Don't you know I'm the Cat of the Week.

Hugs to you all.
Love ya,
Little wild Mietz

A few nights ago I needed something from Mom. So I sat in the kitchen and meowed. It was very important. I don't remember exactly but I think I might have needed a midnight snack. Problem was Mom didn't hear me, because she was sleeping. So I meowed some more. Still Mom would not get up. What's a cat to do? The next thing I always do when I need something and Mom doesn't obey is, I find some paper to tear. I like to tear little pieces out and make confetti. Next problem: I couldn't find any paper. Mom has learned to keep her good papers away from me but sometimes she lets me have some news- or wrapping paper just so I can go hog wild.

Now what? I looked around and then I saw it on the table. Mom's Good Book. Mom reads it every morning. It has a soft cover. So I tried that out. I clamped my teeth down on a corner. This book has dates in it and you read a little bit on January 1 and some on January 2 and so on. My canine tooth made a nice hole right thru the soft cover, all the way thru all the pages from January 1 to January 12. I couldn't tear any pieces out of it. It didn't make that ripping paper sound that I need to wake Mom up. So I left the Good Book alone. Mom still didn't wake up. By now I had forgotten what I needed Mom for and I went back to bed. Timo said I would be in so much trouble in the morning when Mom saw the hole in her Good Book.

Next morning Mom looked accusingly at me, after she saw the hole in the book. I said: Mom what's the big deal? January 12 is already over and you have read that part already. Mom said, I am such a lucky cat. Because my tooth only made a hole in the margin of the page and she can still read all the letters.

That reminds me of what Isaiah said a long time ago: The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

The Good Book now sleeps in a bag when not in use, MOL.

Mom ordered us a new puter Sunday. Finally. It’s the kind that will lay on top of Mom’s lap. I told Mom, if I want to lay in her lap, that new puter better move pronto. Our old puter is getting sooo sloooow. I could paw-write you all a letter and send it with carrier-pigeon, that would be faster.

This new puter will have six Rams inside. Our old one only has one. I do hope they all stay inside. We don’t have room in the house for six Rams. The puter was supposed to be there today. So Mom went to the store, after work, to pick it up. The young man looked and looked in his own puter. Then he asked if anypurr has called Mom and told her that it’s here. No, she said, they told her Sunday that it would be here today and it says on her paper: Expected delivery: Tuesday.

Well, the man says, You Pee Ess received our puter at 2:14 this morning but they didn’t bring it to the store yet. What is Mr. You Pee Ess doing with our puter since 2:14 in the a.m.? Purrobably playing with it and making our Rams tired.

So Mom has to pick it up Purrsday because she has no time tomorrow. The man said he would call when the puter is here. Mom gave him her home number because she doesn’t like getting all kinds of sales calls on our cell phone. So if the man calls and I’m home I’m gonna tell him I’m coming right over to pick up our puter and to pack them six Rams up tight.

Looking forward to zooooming around the world-wide-web,
Mietzi

Pee Ess: If you need a new puter, ours is from Staples. They have them on sale now. We’re getting the one for 399 Bucks

Happy New Year!!!
How is your new year so far? Day one was pretty OK around here I guess. I didn't do squat.

Mom met with Mr. Gym YMCA again today (have you tried to pronounce his last name? I just can't get it right). Today she learned how to do squat on a machine. If Mom wanted to do squat, she could have stayed right here. I laid around and didn't do squat all day. I think I didn't even get all my daily grooming done. Oh well, it's a holiday. I'll catch up tomorrow. Timo squatted in the box and he did a big, smelly squat. MOL.

Gym also made Mom bike 4 miles and walk/run a mile. I asked her how her bike-ride was because it is so windy today. Mom says she rides indoors and she doesn't actually move from the spot where the bike is. This all sounds very silly to me.

New Years resolution: Go outside even more with Mom. And be a good girl while I'm outside. I did that yesterday. Mom and I went outside, it was 53. We walked around the house, then to my hunting grounds. I got to look around for a while. Then I walked back home all by myself and I walked right into the house after Mom opened the front door. Most of the time Mom has to carry me back, because she wants to go but I'm not done exploring yet.

New Year's kisses and good wishes,
Mietzi

Who is that walking in the door on rubber-legs? Oh, it's Mom. Her new friend Gym did that to her. I always thought you spell that name "Jim". Mom's Gym has a last name too. It's YMCA.

(Brings us back to YMCA by the Village People. Was that fun. Mom was 11 years old and had just started taking English in school. Mom grew up in Germany. YMCA was a big hit on TV. Mom liked the native American best. She always wanted to go to America and live with the native Americans, MOL).

Gym made Mom walk/run a mile and she biked two miles and did some other stuff on machines. The bike is fun because you look at a screen that shows the street where you're driving, like a video game. And you can pass other riders.

Other new boyfriends that Mom has (THIS IS ALL COLETTE'S FAULT, she got Mom started on this):

Mr. Pachelbel is a favorite. Antonio Vivaldi is great. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gave Mom A little Nightmusic. Hey, I can do night music too. I would be happy to sing at night. Then we have Franz Schubert who didn't get his Symphony finished. His cat must have interrupted him demanding to be fed, and then he forgot to finish the Symphony. I'm having a hard time saying this last guy's name. I hope he doesn't show up too often: Bedrich Smetana. Mom likes his Moldau.

That's it so far. Thanks Colette. My ears are ringing.

OK yeah, staying away from Catster more. Right Mom. Like that's gonna work out. Mom DID have her time with the Lord already today, and since she doesn't have to go to work today, she said I could come on here and report what's new. Timo has important burd news that he will share in a minute.

Now about me:
Mom ordered me the Mewspaper to be delivered to my doorstep. She signed up last Caturday and it was supposed to start today. This is so nice of Mom because she knows that I LOVE paper. So early this morning Mom checked and reported: sorry Mietzi, no paper yet. So I just checked again, you can't trust those humans, their eyes are not so good. I went out in the 32 degree cold and checked at the front door, at the patio, NOTHING. Disappointed I came back inside. Mom called the purrscription service and they looked in their puter and looked and looked. Mom told them she's just supposed to get the Furiday, Caturday and Sunday paper. The nice lady said that those can take 10 days to purrocess. Purrobably next Friday is when it will start. Well dang it.

I am looking forward to having my paper next Friday to play in and tear up.

I also unpacked one little baggy that is under the tree. I took all the tissue paper out. And you know what I found? A candle. Bummer. Who gives candles for Christmas. I don't need candles.

I need to warm up by the fire place now. Happy Day before Christmas Day. You do get to unpack your presents on Christmas Eve, right?

Mom is going completely under water. From head to toe. She'll be completely emerged in water for a short time and get ALL WET. She told us yesterday and the funny thing is she is so happy about it. Isn't that just awful? They told her to bring a change of cloths because she'll be very wet. Well, as wet as you can get actually.

She said it will happen on Christmas Day the 25th of December, which is also Christ's birthday. This is because Mom has recently made our Savior Lord of her life. She's been thinking about this ever since the summer, when she started hanging out with the Boptists. Mom used to hang with the Looserans. The Boptists make more sense to her now she says. I think I want to join the Boptists too and learn how to bop Timo.

We are not going to be here that much any more. Mom says our God is an awesome God but He is also a jealous God and He needs to come first. Everything needs to stay in purrspective. We are trying to talk to Mom about that.

We love you all. Really. We'll check in once in a while but we can't spent hours on here any more.

Happy Caturday to you all. It is raining all day today. Well, that’s better than the white stuff falling.

The new big white food box got delivered today and it’s …… well, it’s SMALL. It’s smaller than the old, broken one. Mom says since Timo, me or guest cat don’t use the big white food box, she decided to buy a smaller one. I never knew we had the option of using the big white food box. I wish I had know that last year. I caught a little bunny and I ate all of it, not wanting any to go to waste. But it was just too much and I had to puke it out a short time later. I would have loved to store half a left-over bunny in the big white food box. I can also fill it with fresh-caught mice and the occasional bird. Bummer. I already jumped on top of the new little big white food box and rolled around on it. It passed my inspection.

Mom is happy with her little big white food box. She just drank some ice cold milk. It is so good for her to have all the fresh food in the house again. She bought eggs from happy hens (cage free, vegetarian fed, raised by the Amish or Mennonites), and the following organic food: bananas, apples, carrots, tomatoes and lettuce. And this non-organic but also yummy stuff: milk, cream, cottage cheese, fresh cheese and lunch meat (I got to sample the sodium reduced turkey, mmmh). And a brie kind of cheese from Germany. Mom tries to buy organic stuff whenever we can afford it. Because the less chemicals, the better. And this is the kind of food that we want the growers to produce more of. So Mom is voting with her pocket book.

Our microwave isn’t here yet. Mom must have an exclusive taste because it has about two weeks delivery time. I need to go and sample more food from the new small white food box.

Our Microwave suddenly quit working. Help! How is Mom going to cook? Mom is going to starve. I offered her some of my cat food this morning, left some in my bowl for her to finish, but she wouldn't eat it. I'm really worried about Mom. When it rains it pours. Our big, white food box has also been acting up. It is 60 degree in the fresh food compartment. Mom defrosted it and cleaned it inside and out. It's been running for a few days now but it's still 60 degree. RATS! But the freezer still works, ha. We have no fresh, spoilable food in the house but we have ice cream, frozen pizza and frozen TV dinners. The TV dinners do us a lot of good without a Microwave.

Timo and I really don't need the Microwave or the big, white food box, although I like to stick my head inside, it smells so good sometimes. Mom is kind of dependent on these things. I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving. I was busy nursing Mom back to health. She had caught a bad cold. She had gotten a take-out Thanksgiving meal from the grocery store. We got little pieces of turkey. Mmmh yum. It was very good. Mom is feeling better today. I think she'll go hunting for a new Microwave and a big, white food box soon.

So we have this totally annoying guest cat. She’s been here forever. Mom says actually it’s been about two and a half years. Mom didn’t want us to talk about her because she’s ugly. She doesn’t have ANY stripes.
Also one other reason is we live in a condo – not a cat condo, a human condo – and there are rules on how many cats can live here. So let’s count.
Me – one
Timo – he’s a boy, so he counts as half a cat
Guest Cat – Guest Cat is a large girl. So she counts as one cat, at least.
Mom says we would be a little bit over the limit.

So that’s why guest cat can’t live here. She’s just a guest. She belongs to somebody else and just visits alot. Oh, if any of you are friends with Mom on Facebook, Mom asks you to please not say anything on there, OK? We don’t talk about guest cat on Facebook. Well, we don’t talk about any cat on Facebook. Facebook is for humans, Catster is for cats.

More later about this annoying house guest who’s been sleeping in Mom’s bed last night. Hisss.

If you suddenly feel an urge to get rid of that yucky supper that your hooman fed you, I recommend the following method:

Did your Mom pile her old cloths in a careless heap next to her bed before she went to sleep? Perfect. Deposit the offending, only half digested, yucky food right next to the cloths. Now bury your recycled supper with your Mom's old cloth. Next day is laundry day. Your Mom will be so happy when she discovers that you put your stinky food with her stinky cloths.

I'm a daily diary pick. YAY. Wow thank you diary girl. Thank you for all the gifts and comments dear friends. I love them. I had Tuna Fancy Feast and Mom played with me. I need to remind her that I deserve treats today.

Mom is just pooped at the end of the workweek. I wonder if Mom could be in Newman's new poop-book. Well, we haven't been here for a while because the diary comments were kaputt. So what's new with us?

Mom has a HUGE owie on her knee. She fell Tuesday in the company parking lot and scraped her knee BIG TIME. She twisted her ankle or something, IDK. Her pants have a big hole in it. She has a bandage on her owie and says it doesn't hurt, only hurts in the shower. Humans are SO uncoordinated. Did you ever notice that? At least, if we cats twist our ankle and fall we won't fall very far down. Besides it's so much smarter to walk on four legs than on two. Whoever came up with that idea.

Last Sunday Mom went to the Iowa Pet Expo. She did not take us. I was so disappointed. Mom says there were so many dogs, I wouldn't have liked it. There were lots of rescue groups with adoptable dogs and also the visitors brought their own dogs. There were all kinds of dogs there. There was also a Police Horse and two parrots and some Lamas. No cats tho.

Mom brought us back some stuff:
all-natural bug killer with diatomaceous earth (the guy who sells it puffed some into his mouth and said it's totally natural). I don't know what we need that for. We only had ants in the house once this year.

Carpet cleaner - again, what do we need that for?

Bonbons! - they were selling kibble sample packs of Natural Balance. 10 for a buck and the buck is a donation to a rescue group. Timo went nuts. He loves his bonbons.

Timo got a new extension thing for his Da Bird, I got a mouse that squeaks. He loves his Da Bird.

We got a new bed. It's just a square but if you lay on it, supposedly it captures your body heat and keeps you nice and toasty.

So I think it was a pretty successful day. Next time I wanna go with Mom to the Pet Expo. I don't mind the dogs. I'll show them who's in charge. Mom saw a really small dog there. A bit smaller than I. I think they are called Papillon or something French like that.

I'll better go and see about them treats now.
Hugs,
Mietzi

Alex Angel Girl - I read your diary using the above method and just wanted you to know we are purring like mad for Hunter and Mom is praying. Please leave your diary entry up. Our Mom always wanted to get lucky bamboo because, well because it's lucky but little did we know it's POISON for us cats. Hunty baby please be OK. Purr, purr, purr, purr

Update: Hunter is OK. Thank catness. The purrs worked.
Comments in diaries are working again too. There were some evil people trying to mess with our fun here and the Catster tech-cats had to work overtime to keep them out. Thanks tech-cats! Hugs and purrs.

Mom, Timo and I are going to the Great Iowa Pet Expo tomorrow. I read about it in the Mewspaper. It says here: “Bring your spayed or neutered adult pet on a short leash.” Since Mom is going, she HAS to bring us. It says so in the paper. Oh I can’t wait. There’ll be toys and new treats. And they have adoptable animals there. Maybe I’ll adopt a Bunny. It’ll be so much fun.

And after the Pet Expo we’re going to a movie. It’s about people who watch birds and whoever watches the most different kinds of birds gets a price. I’m a good bird watcher but maybe I can get some additional pointers. And seeing all the different birds in the movie will just make my mouth water and give me new ideas which ones to look for.

Mom says there is also a new Puss in Boots movie coming out. Mom grew up listening to Grimms Fairy-tales and Puss in Boots is her favorite. Mom has loved cats ever since she was a little girl. Maybe we can stop in at a Sushi Bar in between the Pet Expo and the movie. We are going to have such a fun day.

Bonks,

This actually happened a few weeks ago. Mom is so slow. I keep dictating her all these stories to write for me and they are all in the back of her head, but when I ask her to update my diary, she says she’s busy.

So a few weeks ago I jumped up on the tree in our backyard (picture on my page) and I made the most marvelous discovery. In one of the lower branches was a robin’s nest. The nest was empty (darn) but it was fun to sniff. I was so happy to have a bird’s nest so close by. That would make for fun snacks while I was lounging on the patio. So every day I jumped up there and checked for birds. Oh I couldn’t wait until new birds moved in and started hatching snacks.

Then one day Mom noticed that the nest had fallen down (picture on my page). Of course she blamed me for it. Can you believe that? I’m innocent. I didn’t push the nest down. I want the nest to be up there for easy access to robin appetizers, um I mean cute robin birdies. Mom thinks all my jumping up and down must have knocked the nest off. I think it was those lawn care guys with the big mower. Yes, they must have hit the tree with the mower by accident and the nest fell down.

So for now I have no nest and no birds. When spring comes I hope the robins will rebuild their nest in this tree. Does anypurr have experience with birds? Do you think they will rebuild here?

Purr Script: I know it was a Robin's nest because all summer long they were sitting on my air conditioner, strutting their stuff, peeping and fluffing their feathers. Drove me nuts. I clicked at them every morning when I saw them.

I am definately going to Newman's poop party that he's having after his poop book is finished. Newman is writing a book right now and the title is Poopology. I think if you google it or something, you might be able to pre-order it. Oh, Timo just told me it's gonna be an e-book, pre-ordering is not necessary. And it will also be available for my Kindle.

Now speaking of poopies, I had one that got stuck today. I did a poopie in my box and then I ran away. Mom wanted to pick me up for some reason but I got real upset and didn't want her to. Then Mom saw it. There was a nice tootsie roll stuck in my pooper. Mom grabbed me and put me back in the bathroom, where our boxes are, and told me to finish my business.

Mom went outside and talked to some neighbors. Maybe 10 minutes later she checked on me. Nope, the poop was still stuck. It had not moved one milimeter. So there was only one thing to do. Grab some tissue paper and pull. That's what Mom did and..... a little piece of poop broke off. But more was still stuck. So again. Get another piece of tissue paper and pull harder. YAY, success. All clear now. Pooh, thank catness. That was embarrassing but Mom thought it would be a good story to tell my friends. Mom!

Here's hoping all your trips to the box are good ones.

Mom says he can't escape from the puter, so we are purrfectly safe. Boy, is he ever fast. That boy's ON FIRE. Mom got Mr. Adblocker too. If any of you haven't done this yet, you have to give it a try. Wow, all the ads are gone. Now our Catster is as fast as a Greyhound. I mean a Jaguar, Yes a Jaguar. It's amazing! No more waiting around forever for stuff to load. Yipeee. Brad Pitt, we'll miss you. But only a little bit.

Mom doesn't have to go and get a cup of coffee after clicking on something and then come back and MAYBE it finished loading. IT LOADS RIGHT AWAY! We are just floored. What a difference. Hip Hip Hurray for the FireFox. We love our fox.

Catster just doesn't wanna play nice with us on our home puter.
Mom spent 7 (seven) minutes this morning posting one diary comment. Pipo, you were the lucky recipient. Catster keeps reloading itself because of long-running scripts and things. Catster needs to load all it's three ads on top, bottom and right of the page before it does anything else. Now we cats are very patient and we can wait, but Mom says she just can't wait that long. It's not that we don't enjoy seeing Brad Pitt in the ad to the right there, Mom says he's a hunk, but he is seriously interfearing with our puter power.

Mom is typing this on her puter at work and she noticed there are no ads here. Mom says at work they have big walls of fire and all kinds of things to keep bad stuff out. So Mom is going to look for an ad-blocker for home. If you know any good ones let me know please. Also Mom says she might have to move the 100s of cat pictures off our home puter and store them someplace else. I don't know. I don't think cats take up much space but it might help.

So if you don't see us here, it's becasue Catster doesn't want to play with us, hisssss.
Mom needs to go and eat her lunch now before her lunch break is over. Love you all. We'll be back after we got this figured out.
Mietzi and Timo too

I'm sure you've all heard about Ingen (Catster ID 1011864). About how she went missing on Thursday during a cross country move. Her Mom was moving from Michigan to Washington. Ingen was found Sunday!! We are all so happy. She was still in the hotel, hiding between the mattress and box spring.

All the Catsters here have really come together with ideas and support and now that she's been found there is just one more thing to do. Ingen's Mom had to continue her trip to Washington State. So now Ingen just needs to get to her new home to WA.

Alex Sweet Angel Girl, ID 112787 has organized a fundraiser to pay for Ingen's trip home. And for the fee that the shelter charges where Ingen had to stay for two days. You can donate on Alex' Mom's website here: IBDkitties.net
Red box on the right side is the donation widgit. Every little bit helps get Ingen home to her Mom and cat-brofur.
This fundraiser has been approved by Catster HQ.

You can read more about Ingen's story in the plus Forum, Plus Power of the Paw.

The weekend was cold and rainy. It was only 52 and my booty was freezing. Yestpurrday it finally warmed up to a delightful 78 degree. Timo and I were chillaxing in a sunspot on the MS Alemania, having nip lemonade and shrip cocktails, when suddenly, a wild horde of Pirates invaded our peaceful ship. We heard loud cries of

AAAARRgh, surrender and hand over the booty!
Put those paws in the air and nopurr will get hurt!
Aaarrgh, step away from the shrimp cocktails NOW!

Then they planted their pirate flags all over our quaint sailboat. Who knew there were so many pirates in Catsterland.

Well, they didn't really destroy anything. They chased us all over the ship and stole our lemonade and foodstuff. But the flags they left look very nice. We'll come around and recipurrcate soon. We are waiting for a shipment of a big box of fresh zealies here. Should arrive any day now.

Until then many thanks go to
Hunter, who was leading the charge I think
The Tabbies of Trout Towne, who got their paws on our secret stash of Tuna
Angels Molly, Misha and family, who directed the troups from high above
Colette, who poked me in my Bürzel! I'm sure it was an accident
Hobo, he's 17 years old but he was giving high-fives to everypurr in sight. That's his special talent
Chandler Ray and family, we got utterly confused about who is who in that family. Next time would you purrlease wear name tags?
Captain Coldcut Monida, who took over the bridge right away. Sorry Monida, we had no coldcuts on board
Pipo, Minko and family. Minko is a BOY, just like Pipo, and he looked very snazzy in his pirate outfit *blush*.
Shark Tooth Tully and Captain Luke and family. Yep, our ship needed two captains. Luke took the rudder and Tully was on lookout for sharks.
Dagger Toes Simone. Um girl - you need to go in for a pedicure I think. Don't leave any scratches on the planks.
My new friends JoJo and Ariel - who wanted to sail on ALL seven seas. Thank you for the offer. Maybe another time. But maybe we could just stay on Saylorville Lake for now? Timo needs to be back home for supper.

Thanks friends. That was a fun day. There is peace and quiet once again on the MS Alemania now.
Mietzi and Timo too

Fall is coming for sure dear friends. Mom was going to wear pantyhose today. In the summer she just wears dress pants and socks but her company had some kind of a luncheon thing today were people had to dress up for. So Mom was looking through her pantyhose and I thought for sure she would choose the one that I had decorated so nicely with my fur but she picked another one. She was not amused with my decorating ability and said something about having to get a container with a lid for her hose.

Mom thinks I have real singing talent and I should enter a competition. Tonight I sang this:
Boo O Row Mau Row Rau.

I'm not telling what it means but it happened like this. Somecat was crowding in on my food bowl and then Mom moved my bowl up on the counter. And she told me "hops" which is German for Jump. Well, I did not jump on the counter to continue my meal but just sang the above song. I'll let you figure out the translation to "Human". Mom says it sounded slighly annoyed.

Well, I'm off to look for the container with pantyhose now. I'm ready for a nap.

Mom is so dense sometimes. She just realized something. We live in Iowa and you knowm, yesterday something scary happened in Virginia. The earth shook. I think I felt it!

Mom came home about a quarter past 5 and usually Timo and I come running to the door to greet her. Timo was there (he's not as smart as me). I was nowhere to be found. Mom called me, called me several times. No Mietzi. Mom looked at some of my usual sleeping spots. No Mietzi. Usually, even if I sleep I'm there like after she calls me twice. Mom turned to Timo asking: Where is Mietzi? Finally Mom went into her bedroom, still calling Mietzi Mietzi Mietzi....

There I was in a corner under a bookshelf! It's one of those ladder bookshelves and I was laying on the floor in the meatloaf position. My eyes were open and I moved my head a little bit to look at Mom. I didn't come to her, I didn't meow. I just layed there still. That was very odd. Mom thought I was sick. She started talking to me and petting me. She felt my ears if I had a fever, no fever. Finally I got up and went to the kitchen for supper. Oh, I had also vomited my food on the bedroom floor earlier. That was already there when Mom came home. Maybe a coincidence, maybe I did that when the earthquake started? I don't remember. Mom hadn't even heard about the earthquake yet when she found me acting so strange. She found out on Catster (great place to get the latest news).

And it took her until now to put 2 and 2 together. I'm not making this up. Mom is just a little slow sometimes, MOL. They say there were three aftershocks, the last at 8 pm E.T. Yes, I think I felt the earth shake and I thought it was safer under the bookcase.

Praying for everypurr, everywoof and human to be safe. There are some strange things going on. There was a mag. 7 earthquake in Peru today and then Irene is still coming. Prayers for our friends on the Eastcoast.

Thanks guys for stopping by and congratulating me. I really appreciate that Big Harry always makes us a nice picture because Mom doesn't know how to make them. I like that he picks action shots of me because that's so me. Wild Mietzi. I had a nice day. Didn't do anything special but I got a can of Fancy Feast. Yummy.

Mom had to buy two new tires for the dumb car on Saturday. Thats a bummer. Do you know how much Fancy Feast she could have bought for us if the car didn't need new tires? Or toys, or cat trees, or fish, or burds?? The possibilities are endless. I don't like that car. Can't she ride a bicycle?

Thanks friends. Love you all!

Brothers can be so disgusting. Do you know what Timo just did? He barfed up a hairball, also known as Flojectile, ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER. Yep. And Mom even called him a good boy. Because it's easy to clean on the counter but hard to clean if he barfs it on the carpet.

I got a big surprise tonight. I was napping on the recliner and the next second I got scooped up and put in my carrier. Yes, I did put up a struggle and it took Mom two attempts. Off to the stupid vet we went. Mom said nothing bad will happen. It's just a recheck because I had my teeth cleaned three weeks ago. I was supposed to come back in two weeks and I thought Mom had forgotten. Darn.

Mom thougth I was very scared at the vet. She had a hard time getting me out of the carrier - I held on with all my strength. And I immediately wanted to go back into the carrier but somebody had closed the door. Darn.

I wasn't really scared. I was just upset that I had to go to the vet again. My teeth don't need cleaning. I'm not due for any shots, what the fluff did you drag me over here for. Well, the vet just wanted to look at my wonderful white and shiny teeth. Gee, I could have emailed her a photo of them.

While we were there we ratted on Timo. We told the doc he's been scratching his ears and shaking his head. There are little brown spots in his ears - Ewww Timo. Since we are on Revolution the Doc thinks it's an ear infection. Timo had an ear infection in April too. So now Timo gets yucky eardrops from a pink bottle.

I don't know why this brother of mine doesn't keep his ears cleaner? I've never had an ear infection or mites. Timo's had both. On top of everything else I have to do around here, I now also have to start cleaning his ears for him.

Last night Mom was watching a movie and there was alot of loud barking. Very annoying. Why does she watch movies with dogs in them? Then there was meowing, so we watched too. It was an old Lassie movie in black and white. This brings back childhood memories for Mom. Lassie had adopted a kitten. But it turned out it was a mountain lion kitten. Feisty little fella. Well, mountain lion baby got reunited with mountain lion Mama and then Lassie decided to adopt a housecat kitten. Sweet. I think this movie was from 1959. Mom wasn't even born back then. I guess we like Lassie because she adopted a kitten. She's OK as far as dogs go I guess.

Mom just came home wet as a dog. Ha. Hair wet, cloths wet, shoes wet. She was out shopping at Wally-World and when she was ready to leave it started to rain very hard. So she went out this one door and went to the parking lot. Then she remembered that she had parked on the other end of the parking lot.

Note to self Mom: go out the door that you came in in. Yes, Mom is the kind of person that can get lost in a phone booth. So she walked across the parking lot in the pouring rain. Mom said it didn't matter. She was soaking wet after two seconds anyway.

I wanted to meow a big thank you to all who celebrated my DDP with me. I had a nice day. Mom got some new wet and dry food for us. Yumm. Thank you for all the comments in my diary.

Big Harry - thank you for making a picture for me. I love it.
Bush Furs - thanks for sending the lovely flowers. Roses are so pretty.
Ingen - thank you for the pink rosetty. It looks good on my fur.
Samsara, Colette, Angels Marrakecha and Misha - thank you for the heart. Sorry that you had to waste two zeelies on me because of Caster fleas.

Stay dry. We have showers today off and on.

I'm a daily diary pick today. Yay! Thank you dear Diary Lady.

Mom finally has a few days off she says. This morning she left for work. I was like: Mom, what are you doing? You're on vacation!

Mom said she just needed to take care of two things in the office. It won't take long. She'll be right back. Her boss is gonna have surgery on Purrsday, which is tomorrow, so she just had to do these two things for her. After the office Mom did not come straight home. Nope. She stopped at Petco which is good because she did like a buffet thing. She bought a few cans of this and a few cans of that. We're looking forward to trying them all. After Petco Mom did not come straight home. Nope.

Next stop was Olive Garden because Mom had gotten hungry from all the working and shopping for cat food. Olive Garden is a Restaurant. I don't know if you have one where you are. I have never been there but I hear they have pawsome meals with shrimp and seafood. I would have so liked to go to lunch with Mom to Olive Garden.

After Olive Garden Mom came straight home. Yay! So I told her I'm DDP and I want to go outside to celebrate. Nope, said Mom. It's 90 and that is not as hot as in Arizona but it's still way too hot. Yesterday and the day before was 99, heat index 115, so we're making progress.

Oh by the way, Arizona: We are just so happy that Newman, Samoa and family have made it OK to Arizona. Looks like they're done unpacking because Newman and Gleek had time to write in their diaries.

I'll ask if I can go outside tonight when it's cooler.
Thanks for the gifts and concats,
your Mietzi

Mom promised. Yesterday. And now she broke her promise.
This morning I wanted to go out mousing. It was a perfect morning for it. Mom said I can't go because she's gotta go to work. BUT MOOOM, I said, you promised you'd take Purrsday and Friday off and I could go outside alot. Mom told me she's sorry but she just has too much to do. The boss changed the way they do this one project and Mom just needs to get a few things finished. Pah!

So tonight I reminded Mom. Remember, I said, you're taking tomorrow off and I can go mousing all day. Oh Mietzi, sorry, says Mom. She has to go back to work tomorrow too! Oh no. Mom says she is finally almost caught up, just this one project that's been sitting on her desk for awhile and it just needs to get done now. Rats! Mom works with paper. There is always alot of paper on her desk. I LOVE tearing up paper. I told Mom, I'd be happy to go to work with her tomorrow. Won't take me very long and all the paper would disappear. Mom didn't think that was a good idea.

What do you do with a Mom who breaks her promise?

Sorry for writing so late. Mom had to work late. Of all nights she had to work late tonight *growl*. I'm OK, friends. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts today. I lost one little tooth, the one right next to a canine. Why in the world do they call those canines anyway? I don't want anything dog in my mouth. Instead of the tooth I now have two stitches, neat.

So the Dr. wrote in his report to please allow me to have a quiet evening. Mom brought me home and put me on her bed and said I should sleep. Sleep? I've been sleeping almost all day. First I went and hissed at Timo and I smacky pawed him too because he wanted to sniff me. Gotta remind that boy who is in charge. Next I ate a little bit of food. Then I made my rounds inspecting the place. Still looks good. Now I've been meowing to go outside. Mom says no way. I say heck with the quiet evening. I need to check if everything is still OK outside. I need to check out my mousing grounds.

Do you know what I found out while easedropping on the vet talking? He's going away for about a year. Our most favorite vet in all the world is going to the Caribbeans. He's gonna teach at a University there. He's going purrty soon.

So next time Timo or I need anything done we're going to visit him there. It'll be so much fun. Just think of all the exotic birds they have.

Hugs.
Luv you all.

Mom says I'm getting my teeth cleaned today. I'd appreciate a purr or two, no gifts please. Teeth cleaning is almost a routine thing nowadays but I'm still worried. This is my first cleaning ever and I once had a bad reaction to a shot some years ago. I just threw up and threw up, wouldn't eat or drink and my leg hurt so much I just sat under the couch and didn't wanna walk on it. Mom took me back to the Doc and he gave me medicine and I was all OK again.

Things are strange today. I think Mom is running low on food and water. Our water dish disappeared last night, the crumbs in our dishes got thrown away. And this morning she forgot to feed me. Timo went into the laundry room and when he came out he was licking his lips.

Have a happy Monday everyfur. Mom says I get to sleep alot today.

As I told you yesterday, we are in the middle of a heat wave. Upper 90s all week and high hoomidity. Today was 98 and it is too hot for the horses. Really. We have a racetrack nearby called "Prairie Meadows" and they cancelled the horse races today because the horses all complained and put their hoofs down. And then the jockeys took a vote and everybody voted to not race today.

Maybe the horses can go to the Altoona Aquatic Center today and have a nice swim in the pool. Horses can swim, right?

Mom doesn't want us to lay too close to her on her bed because we kitties have alot of heat. I say: turn down the A/C and hug your kitty.

Have a cool day.

Oh my cats. It is so hot. My paws are sticking to the keyboard. It started Purr-eye-day with 92, Saturday 93, Sunday 97, today 98 AND the heat index is 115. Oh my catness. ALL THIS WEEK it will be in the upper to mid-90s. We got all ceiling fans running on high. Mom is drinking water by the gallon. The A/C is set to 80. It's nice for us because we like it warm but poor Mom looks like she's going to melt right into the sofa. Usually it only stays this hot for a few days but not for over a week.

I'm wondering, how do cats and their hoomans who live in places like Mew Mexico and Airy Zona stand this heat? The worst thing is that Mom says it's too dangerous for Timo and me to go outside. We can't even go for a minute. I don't like that. I love to go outside. In the morning it's in the 80s already and the hoomidity is real bad.

Does your Mom have this thing that she holds against her hair and hot air come out? That's what it feels like when Mom opens the front door. Hot air comes in. Oh Iowa winter where are you? Still 159 days 'til Christmas. I wish Christmas was here now because it's always cold on Christmas.

I'll go play with my mouse now. Mom says it's too hot to play with mousies. See what I mean? This heat is ruining everything.

Did you cats just see America's Got Talent? There was this old guy doing card tricks and he had a cat on his shoulder. One card he pulled out from behind the cat's ear. The Judges liked it and they're going to Vegas, yay. First Howie pressed his buzzer cause he didn't like the dancing the guy did but then he gave them a yes. Sharon just liked that cat, he he.

And there was this little Asian housewife who said she's kinda shy but she's getting better about coming out of her shell. Wow, can she sing. She was really nervous, you could tell. But she sings as good as an Opera singer! Amazing. The people in the audience all stood up when she started to sing, and Piers did too. Wow, she sang like an angel. That Lady's got talent.

Happy 4th of July to all. Looking forward to seeing the kitty in Vegas.

My purrsday is over already, aww shucks.
I wanted to thank all the cats who stopped by and made it such a memorable day. I had a fantastic day watching my Heffalump movie and playing with my new nip toys. Then Saturday was this great pawty at Finneys which he had for MJ tribute/Finney's/Mietzi's/Gypsy's/Oreo/Ingen's mom Jen's/Missy's/I don't know who else's birfdays! It was a blast. Timo and I had so much fun. Thank you Finney for organizing that and including little, old me. You're the best.

Sincere thank yous go to:

Pooh, I am overwhelmed by your kindness! Hope I didn't furrget anyfur. Furrgive me if I did. It's not on purrpose. Also thank you to all who made comments and send well-wishes and friend requests. Love y'all!

Because I am an old lady now with 10 I was thinking of signing up for health insurance. So far I'm healthy and plan on staying that way but it can't hurt to have it just in case. Mom got this postcard from her health insurance. She can add her children under the age of 21 to her insurance. So I want her to do that. I qualify. I'm her child and I'm way under 21.

Have a good week, friends.

Big Announcement: The weather today is awful, cloudy, 66, rain off and on. So I'm going to celebrate my birthday Saturday in Finney's diary AND YOU'RE ALL INVITED!!

My friend Finney is celebrating his birthday in his diary this Saturday. They are also celebrating Michael Jackson at the same time. And he invited me to celebrate my birthday at his place. Isn't that nice of him? He is just such a nice cat and a good friend. So YOU ARE ALL INVITED TO THE BIG PAWTY SATURDAY IN FINNEY'S DIARY. Finney said I can bring all my friends. He's got a big house. Please don't bring any gifts. Just be there and have fun. I'm so excited. This is gonna be great!

We'll have Nip Lemonade and Niptinis and a birthday cake (with nip) and I bet the Trout Towne Tabbies will be there too with a boatload of fish for us to grill.

I was at Finney's sister's birthday a couple of weeks ago and the whole family is super nice. Now his sister's birthday pawty was actually supposed to be Finney's because his birthday is first. But his Mom mixed the dates up and so we ended up celebrating Lacey's birthday first and so now we'll celebrate Finney's this Saturday together with MJ leaving this earth and my birthday too. Got that? Doesn't matter. Just be there on Saturday. It'll be so much fun.

Thank you, friends, for stopping by for my birthday today.
See you Saturday at Finney's. Love you all,

Happy purrsday to me. I'm ten years old today. Yay, the big one oh. I can't believe it! I'm turning into an old lady. Well, so far I don't feel any different. I woke up to Mr. Stevie Wonder singing Happy Purrsday to me. He's cool. I like him. Then I kneaded Mom's armpit. I already ran my zoomies and I still feel wild and defiant (just ask Mom). For breakfast I had Blue Buffalo because I'm planning on living at least another ten years. So I'm eating healthy. Well, tonight I might have some Fancy Feast.

It's cloudy and looks like rain. Hey sun, come on out. It's my purrsday. I finally got to open my present! About time. It's the fantastic catnip toys that I picked out myself at Happy River Dances etsy shop about 2 weeks ago. Mom is mean that she didn't let me open it earlier. I love my mouse, heart and bunny kicker. There is some really good nip in them. Mom says I have to share with Timo. All right...I guess.

I'm gonna spend my day watching the Heffalump movie as much as I want to. Yes. It's my purrsday and the DVD is in the player and Mom is NOT changing the channel. If the weather is nice, I'll go outside with Mom tonight. I love doing that.

Do you know that I have spent half of my life with Mom and the other half with the lady that had to give me up because she was having a baby? Yes, I've been here five years already. It were the happiest years of my life - so far.

Thank you to those who have left gifts and well-wishes for my purrsday. I'll thank you all purrsonally later. I love you all.

My Heffalump movie is here! It arrived yespurrday. Yespurrday Mom had no time to let me watch it. Today Mom is a bit grumpy. For the last two nights we had storms and thunder and yespurrday around midnight the tornado sirens went off. Mom turned on the TV and there was no danger of tornados. Just a bad storm. So Mom didn't get much sleep.

So today I was gonna watch my Heffalump movie. I had my bowl of Fancy Feast and fresh water. I got to take a little walk outside in my harness. I found a perfect spot and here we go (You can see a photo of me watching the movie on my page. Yes, I am getting ready to jump on that high tower so that I can see better). Here is Pooh Bear and Tigger and them going to catch a terribly, scarebly, horribly, hazardly Heffalump. Little Roo is going all by himself. He's brave. Heffalump Hollow looks dangerous. Is Roo going to catch one?

What is this? Mom? What happened to my movie? You want to watch a political show on Iowa Public TV? BOOOORING. Noooo. Not now. I'm watching the Pooh Bear. Turn the channel back to the Pooh Bear! Not fair. The one night that I want to watch something. You always get to watch what you want. I need to know if they catch a Heffalump. Hmpf

The other day some of us were talking, I think it was in Finney's diary or was it River?? Anyway we were talking about how much we love Winnie the Pooh. I love the Pooh and Eeyore and Tigger too. I really needed some Pooh, so I put Pooh's Heffalump movie in my Netflix Q under number one. We just returned a movie and I was looking forward to having my Pooh Bear in the mailbox. But there is no Pooh. There is this other movie. So I went and checked on the purrnet and, oh no, it says the Heffalump movie has a long wait. Dang. How long is long?

Yesterday I tried to mop the bathroom floor. I had puked out some Fancy Feast in there. It's Mom's fault because she got the FF with the white sauce on it. Mom, I don't like that. What makes you think that I want Alfredo Sauce on my Chicken Fancy Feast? Mom saw that next to the barf was this little hand towel and it was a little bit wet and had some schmutz on it. So Mom was thinking what does that mean? Well Mom, don't say I don't do anything around here. I tried to wipe up the puke with the towel but it was too much. I tried. I really did. I'm a good kitty.

Now Mom can you please call the Netflix people and ask how long your kitty is supposed to wait for her Pooh Bear?

I missed the party bus! No kidding, this is true: About two hours ago this big bus pulled up accross the street and it said on there "American Party Buses". I just know that Lacey had send it over because Lacey's birthday party is tonight in her diary. Thank you so much dear Lacey. But I wasn't ready yet when the bus pulled up. I had just come back from outside. Mom and me where at my mousing grounds. And my fur was a mess, my nails weren't done and I wasn't wearing any makeup. So some humans got on the bus. I bet those are your caterers. Then the bus left again.

I got my Eagle booked to take me to your place, Lacey. It's sweet of you to send a bus but I like my Eagle. He's fast and he carried me all the way to Califurnia to River and Simone's store last weekend. I don't like the lazer lights in the party bus.

Here's a picture of the Party Bus. It was the white one.

My purrsday present arrived from Califurnia! Mom says I canât open it until my actual purrsday on ...

My purrsday present arrived from Califurnia! Mom says I can’t open it until my actual purrsday on June 23rd. That is so wrong on so many levels. Let me tell you why:

I went all the way to Califurnia and picked out my own present. I was camped out in front of River and Simone's new etsy shop “Happy River Dances Catnip Company” for two days or so. I was furst in line too. And somecat made a little camp fire, we roasted hot dogs and smores and I ate too many of each of them. We sang camp fire songs and played duck duck goose and then Monida got there and she passed out nip cookies and milk to all the cats in line. I got so sleepy after the milk and cookie that I couldn’t keep my eyes open. When I woke up I had missed the Grand Opening. All the kitties were already inside shopping! Drats.

I ran inside and that’s when I saw it. A perfect mousie in my favorite color. But somecat had it in her paws already. So I jumped and shouted and tried to wrestle it out of her paws. “That’s my mousie. Let go of it. I was furst in line. It’s mine.”

Simone the shop owner came over. ”Now, now Mietzi – behave yourself! We got more mousies in the back. There is no reason to shout”. Ha ha, all the other cats ran with Simone to the back to look at the toys there. I grabbed the mouse I wanted, a bunny kicker for Timo (he really wanted that) and another toy for me and I ran to the cash register. Whipped out Mom’s Mastercat and that’s when River told me: Mietzi, these are just for demonstration purrposes. You just pick what you want and what color and my Mom will ship them out on the first Eagle tomorrow. But you can’t take these with you. Oh no. I can’t take them with me? They have to be shipped? Oh well, I had fun in sunny Califurnia anyway.

So the envelope arrived today and after all I’ve been thru I’m not allowed to open it.
Presents should be opened when they arrive! Who knows, maybe Simone’s Mom put a surprise trout in the package and it will spoil if I don’t open it now.

You know what else? My real purrsday is NOT on the 23rd. That’s just my Gotcha Day but Mom said we’ll just take that as my purrsday. I’m sure my real purrsday is June 9th. I remember my furr-Mom explaining: Mietzi you can always remember your purrsday. You just take the month you were born: 6 And you turn it upside down and then you have 6/9 and that’s the day you were born.

Mom is not nice at all. I’m opening my present now. Timo shouldn't have to wait any longer for his bunny kicker.

I do. Really. Like, Mom couldn't find her Netflix envelopes. She had put them somewhere but forgotten where. How is that my fault? Well, I love to chew on paper and I had torn off the corner of another Netflix envelope and it was the corner with the free postage thingy. So ever since then Mom hides those envelopes from me. I say it's not my fault that Mom can't remember where she put them. Look harder, Mom. They gotta be around here somewhere.

Another thing I got blamed for was, when Mom was on vacation last Septempurr somecat had torn off the tag on the cord that closes our blinds in the living room. Naturally I got blamed because I'm Mom's wild one. A few days ago the truth came out: Timo had puked up his breakfast (ewww) and Mom offered him a different kind of Blue Buffalo. But he wouldn't eat it. Mom tried for an hour putting that food in front of him. She had nothing but Blue Buffaloes in the house. Timo wouldn't eat it. But he was meowing because he was so hungry. And finally, you know what he did? He started chewing on the tag on the cord that's on the bedroom blinds. AHA, I said. See Mom? He's the one that tore off the other tag too.

But Timo is her good boy. He can't do anything wrong. Such a nice cat. If you listen to Mom he's the bestest cat who ever lived. I think he's just good at not getting caught.

A few days ago Mom heard a crash and bang coming from the bookshelf. So she yelled: MIETZI!! Well, she didn't really yell. It just sounded that way to me. There you go. Blaming me again Mom. After further inspection it turned out that Timo had tried to jump on the bookshelf and had knocked a few books off in the process. He almost never jumps up there but I always do and there is an opening in between the books that I fit in. Timo tried to jump in there but fat Timo doesn't fit. So down came the books.

Do you get blamed for stuff that you didn't do? How do you deal with that? Do you tattle on your siblings? Do you point the paw at the real offender?

Purrs,
your good cat Mietzi

Yesterday there was a townhall meeting because our Iowa politicians recently passed a bill that allows dove hunting! I really wanted to go and get my dove hunting license. Mom didn't let me go. She said I have "HUNTER" written all over my face and I'm small and Mom was worried I would get hurt at the meeting. The meeting was very controversial. She didn't go either but it was in the Mewspaper today.

There were birdlovers and hunters and they were argueing back and forth because some people think Dove hunting is a good idea and others think it's just stoopid and cruel. Mom strongly sides with the second group. Dove hunting is so totally unnecessary she thinks. Well, things got pretty heated last night at the meeting. People got loud and one person yelled at another to "shut up" (whoops, can I say that on catster?) and the moderator had to remind people to please behave like civilized human beings, MOL.

I think what came out of the meeting is that dove hunting season starts September 1st and every hunter can hunt 15 birds and it only last a few days but I forgot how long exactly. Wow, 15 birds! I have to find out how to get a hunting license.

Are you allowed to hunt doves where you live?

Oh woe is me. Mom ordered a small child. A Kindl is ordered but it hasn't shipped yet. I wonder if it can be cancelled. I really wanted a nook to curl up into. Where are we going to put this child? I don't want my tail pulled. This is just terrible. I wonder if it's a boy or girl. I hope it's a girl. Why couldn't Mom let me pick out a cat brother instead of her getting a small child? A cute Siamese or a boy from Burma.

Timo says he can probably cancel it. It involves going to the Amazon (oh boy, how long will that take) and saying a secret password to get in. But Timo knows the password. Timo says he won't do it because he likes to read and he is looking forward to the Kindl. Huh? What does the child have to do with reading.

Big Harry made me a trophy and I didn't have time yet to go and pick it up. I really apurreciate all of your friendship. I'll come around and thank you all but now I have to go back outside. It's finally a beautiful day in Iowa, 64. Last two weeks we had 40s and 50s. Mom just lanted some flowers on the patio and didn't let me help, Humph.

She went to Best Buy to look at a nook and a Kindl. Like I told you she's thinking of getting either the hidey place or the small child. She said the nook wouldn't work at Best Buy, so she still doesn't know.

You all have a purrtastic day! I sure am.
Mom, MOM, MOM open the patio door. I need to go outside.

Mom might buy a small child. She said she wants a Kindl. When Mom uses a word that I don't understand, I assume it's German because Mom is from Germany. So after extensive interpurr research, I found out that in Germany a Kindl is a small child. There is even a beer called Berliner Kindl.

What is Mom thinking? We have no room for a child, not even a small one. Where is the Kindl going to sleep? Not in the bed, that's where I sleep and Timo too sometimes. Not on the couch. I like to sleep there too and Mom sits there alot.

A Kindl would take up alot of Mom's time. They need things constantly. They are loud and run fast and they pull on kitty's tails. I don't want a Kindl in the house.

Mom says she doesn't know yet. Maybe she'll just buy a nook instead. Now nooks and crannies I like. I could use a nice nook of my own to take a nap in. What do you think of Kindls and nooks? Do your pawrents have one of those? Which one do you like better?

Going to find a nook to take a nap in,

Happy Easter and happy Resurrection Sunday everyfur. What did you get from the Easter Bunny? I got some Peeps. At least I think they are mine. They were laying on the counter. Everything with a name like Peeps is for cats, right. There is just one problem. My Peeps don't want to peep. I put my wet nose on them, I pushed them with my paw and not a peep can be heard. Aren't they supposed to peep if it says Peeps on the box? Do you have Peeps that don't peep?

There is a lot of false advertising going on. I ran accross another couple. Mom bought "Bunny Tracks" Ice Cream. Mmmh, I thought this is a great flavour for Easter. But I licked a little bit and I sniffed it and I'm sorry to report that no actual bunny parts were used in the making of Bunny Tracks ice cream. How dare they to call it Bunny Tracks?

Then there is this box of Nips. Nips is made with catnip, right? Wrong again. It says on the box "rich and creamy hard candy" and there is no nip in it. I'm sure. I know nip when I smell it.

You have to be so careful when you buy stuff. Things are not what they appear to be. I hope that all your Peeps peep. There is a picture on my page of me and my Peeps.

and I saw a green Parrot.
Oh furs, guess what? Mom saw him tonight. Mom came home late and it was already dark and as she was walking down the sidewalk she saw Mr. Easter Bunny himself hobbling along. And then he disappeared in our backyard. Isn't that exciting? Mom is sure it was him. He has long ears, he is light brown and he was hobbling away quickly. Mom tried to go after him but she heard him mumble into his beard that he is so busy right now and can't everybody just leave him alone?
I want to go out and see him but Mom won't let me. Oh Mr. Easter Bunny PLEASE come back and bring me some presents. Some little chicks maybe. How many more days 'til Easter?

It was very windy here all week and we got alot of rain too. Yesterday I looked out and there on our lawn was a green Parrot. Mom says the wind must have blown him over and he is stuffed. What is he stuffed with? Wild rice and mushrooms? Mom put him on the lid of the trash can. So if anyfur is missing a green Parrot they can come and claim him, if he hasn't flown away. You need to dry him out good. He was very wet.

Easter is going to be so fun because the Easter Bunny is REAL.
Can't wait for Easter,

Mom decided to clean under the refrigerator. I’ve been looking under there and putting my paws under it for a few days now and Mom finally got the message. And I just knew it. I knew they were under there because I saw them run in. Lots of my beloved mini mousies were hiding under there. I was closely supervising as Mom used a butter knife and a feather duster thingy to coax the mousies out. Here is what we found:

Three milk rings, one twisty tie, one pistachio nut, one acorn, one acorn top, one pencil, one little plastic part that nobody knew what it was for;
EIGHT mini mousies, five got a bath and are drying off in the sink, three have been determined unusable by Mom, two big dust bunnies.

Mom almost lost her butter knife in the process but I reminded her to focus on the important part. Sacrifices have to be made. What’s one butter knife? Let’s get them mousies out from under there. Them is not supposed to be hiding there!

I think there are more mini mousies hiding way in the back but Mom said that’s enough for know. Mom wants to know why do they build refrigerators like this that you can never get mini mousies back out from under it? Can’t they build them a little bit off the ground so that you can get a swiffer duster or a cat’s paw under it?

I can’t wait until Mom decides to clean under the washer and dryer. I think I heard some squeaking under there the other day.

Waiting for my mousies to dry,

One of my many duties around here is to wake Mom up. So this morning I looked at Mom's alarm clock and it said 6:00. So I went into action and gave my wake up meows. Mom's eyes opened a little bit and she went: Mmmuuump, Mietzi go away, it's only 5:00. I meowed: no Mom, see the clock? It's 6:00. Time to get up and make me breakfast.

Mom insisted that she wanted to sleep because the clock might say 6:00 but it was really only 5:00 because she had set the clocks ahead. Well, I thought, my internal clock said it was earlier than 6:00 but Mom always gets up at 6:00 and makes us breakfast. So I was going to trust the alarm clock. I tried again: Purring in her ear - Mietzi, go back to sleep, Kneading on her belly - Mietzi, go away, it's too early. Walking across her back - no reaction, Tearing up toilet paper -rats, I think Mom fell asleep again.

Finally at 7:00 Mom got up. She said NOW it was really 6:00.
So now I'm catfused. What am I supposed to do tomorrow morning? Wake Mom up at 6:00 or 7:00? The real 6 o'clock or the 6:00 that is now 7:oo?

We wrestle alot. One of my best moves is biting. That's allowed in wrestling, right? I also like the bunny-kick move and the head-lock. The very few times when it looks like I might loose a match, I jump up real quick and run away and brofur has to chase me. Wrestling is fun.

Harness News: no news :( It's not here yet. It's gonna snow on Monday. So my outside walks have to wait awhile. Yes, that's right, snow on Monday. And we did just have 65 degree on Thursday. That's Iowa for you. If you don't like the weather just wait a day. It'll change.

Have a good Sunday every purr.
Your Mietzi

She took one step and fell right on her bu" CHEDDAR, I interrupted, that's not funny. Poor Mom. Was she all right? "Yes", said Cheddar. "She was fine. A car had actually stopped when your Mom fell but she got right up again and waved at the car that she was OK." Oh good, I said. Good thing that Mom's backside is well cushioned. Our weather has just been weird. Yesterday morning 32 and today 65.

Then I told Cheddar about my Walking Harness that I'll be getting. And you know what else? Mom sent a link to my Catster page to the makers of the harness. And they wrote back and they said I'm a beautiful Tabby. Me beautiful? Wow, really? I'm not used to that. Mom always calls me her naughty cat.

Sunday Mom was following me around with a measuring tape. She measured my neck and around my chest. I said: Oh brother, Mom, what are you up to NOW? I was afraid she was gonna buy me a dress for Valentine's Day. I don't like dresses. But then Mom showed me this really neat walking harness. It's more like a T-Shirt with velcro. I think that's so neat because I HATE the harnesses that we have. We have several different styles and I HATE them all with a passion. Every time Mom wants to put one on me, I run away and say: never mind. I don't wanna go out that bad.

And that coming from me! I LOVE to go outside. I can't wait until spring is here. Sunday Mom finally got one of the hated harnesses on me and I got to walk around the house once. Tomorrow it will be 55 and Thursday 63! I need to get out there again. What I would really like, is just to go out by myself, without a harness or leash. Leashes are for dogs if you ask me. Mom used to let me do that and she'd just follow me around everywhere like I was a baby. But ever since I went into the drainage pipe (see diary entry from Nov. 2, 2010), Mom has gotten more careful.

I got to pick out the color for my walking harness. They come in all kinds of different designs. Mom wanted to go for some girly pink but I'm more of a Tom-boy cat. So I picked mint flower. Can't wait for it to get here.

You know what Mom did Friday morning? She left the house to go to that thing she calls work and she left the house without her keys! Just walked out without them and it was 10 degree outside. Now I always need to remind Mom to take her keys before she leaves the house. That's in addition to reminding Mom to get up in the morning, go to bed at night, leave closet doors open that I like to go into, leave my drawer open, let me go outside when it's warm enough again, and my brofur reminds her to feed us or she'd forget that too. I tell ya, if Mom's head wasn't screwed on, she'd forget that too. Sometimes I don't know what to do with her. Here is what happened that morning:

Mom told me later what she did. She didn't have her house keys, nor the keys to the garage, nor the car keys. Thank catness our neighbor hides a key outside. So Mom went and got that key and went into our neighbor's house (yes, she is allowed to do that). Neighbor has a 7 month old pup, a Freedom Bulldog that I'm afraid of (google freedom bulldog iowa - and you can see what they are). Puppy wasn't home, he was at doggy daycare.

Neighbor also has an orangy boy-cat that likes me but I'm afraid of him. Cat sees Mom come in 'Oooh, are you visiting me? How nice of you. We can have snacks together. Follow me, my snacks are in here.' Cat leads the way to the kitchen, Mom follows. Neighbor has one of Mom's keys somewhere. Where could it be. Mom starts looking around the kitchen. Cat jumps on kitchen counter: 'My snacks are in here. In this plastic bag.' Mom starts opening a few drawers. Cat: 'No, not in there, my snacks are right here, see?'. Now where could that key be? Mom opens more drawers, Mom looks on the walls, is it hanging up somewhere, Mom looks around the living room, Mom looks in the laundry room. Laundry room has cat's food bowl in there. Cat: 'Did you find my snacks? You can put them in my bowl right here.'

Mom gives up and calls neighbor. It's a bit past 8, she should be at work. Neighbor doesn't answer work phone, Mom leaves a voice mail. Mom tries neighbor's cell phone. She doesn't answer, well you shouldn't drive and talk on your cell phone, so Mom leaves a voice mail there too.

Well, nothing to do now but to sit down on the couch and wait for neighbor to call. Cat jumps in Mom's lap and stares into Mom's eyes: 'You forgot my snacks. They are in the KITCHEN'. Cat got tired from begging and curls up in Mom's lap and takes a nap. Mom waits and waits. 10 past, 15 past, Mom calls neighbor again. This time she answers: Oh, we are moving our office today. I'm so busy I didn't check my voicemail yet. Yes, your key is right.........

Mom goes and gets her key, goes back to her own house and get her own set of keys and is finally of to work. Humans! You gotta love them but sometimes *Mietzi shakes her head*

Have a pawsome Sunday and don't forget to remind your humans to take their keys when they go outside.

Tonight it will be minus three, with windchill minus seven. How can the weather be in the minus? Isn't that like having no weather at all when it goes into the minus? This cold weather brings out the bunnies. They are leaving tracks in the snow on my lawn. In the middle of the lawn there is some grass peeking out under the snow that the bunnies like to eat. I don't want them running on my lawn! You know what else they leave behind? Tiny Bunny Poo Poo. Yes, black bunny poo in my white snow! The nerve of them guys. Don't they have a litter box?

I wish I could go out there and chase them away. I love going outside. But now it's so cold I'll freeze my whiskers off. I need some mittens and socks, and earwarmers. Definately earwarmers. Mom! Can you knit me mittens? Mom says she used to know how to knit when she was a little girl but she forgot how to do it. Dang. I guess I'll nap some more in front of the fireplace.

Don't forget to wear your mittens.

Mom just got back from church. Usually she goes Sundays but today she went on Saturday evening. She said she was gonna bring back a Point Setter because they were giving them away at church. I was a bit worried about having such a big dog in the house. But if Mom has to have a Setter, it would be better to have a Pointing one than an Irish one. I would have a hard time understanding a dog that barks in Irish. I could probably use this Pointing Setter for bird hunting. If he's a pointing dog, he can point me to the birds and I'll catch them. I was just planning my hunting trips with the dog when Mom came back, and I found out that the Point Setter is just a flower.

Mom told us to stay away from it. We are not allowed to touch it because it's dangerous. I believe her. A flower named after a big dog sure could be dangerous. Maybe it bites if you get too close. Mom is going to watch us to make sure we leave the dangerous flower alone. Mom thinks the flower will get locked in the bedroom when she is not around to keep us safe.

Added bonus: Mom didn't know about this but at the church they had Chicken Noodle Soup and Chocolate Cake tonight. I have no use for the Point Setter but I sure would have liked some Chicken Noodle Soup, hold the Noodles.

Wishing you all a happy Sunday.

If people come to our house now and if they have to use the bathroom, they'll see my nice, decorated toilet paper. I made a pattern in it with my teeth. Mom is not too happy about having holes in the TP. But I think it looks fabulous. The TP roll is almost empty. I can't wait for a new fat roll. I'll decorate it again. It's so much fun.

I'm leaving my tree here in this room up until January 6th. That was always the tradition in Mom's house because the 6th is Three-Kings-Day. We had a great Christmas. We got many great gifts from our Secret Santa (Thank Mew Jake and Samantha). And from some dear friends we got a comfy blanket, a fat mouse and a whole Jar of Nip! It's from their own garden. I'm so envious. I want my own nip plant too! Mom says maybe in spring. Mom put the blanket infront of the fire place and sprinkled some nip on it and Timo and I take turns laying there. Oooh, kitty-heaven.

Hope you all had a purrfect Christmas. Have fun playing.

I haven’t been on Catster much the last few days. I was resting from my adventure. Timo sure was on a lot. Sunday he got so upset. I don’t know what was wrong but he was mumbling something about drowning in comments and not being able to find anycat and it doesn’t even work right. And every second word out of his mouth was “comments”. Now you don’t know my brother. He is a very quiet guy. Nothing much gets him excited, except food. But whatever happened, it sure got his panties all in a bunch.

What have I been up to? Well, Saturday was a lovely day to go out to the hunting grounds (pics are on my page) and look for some mousies. Usually Mom always goes with me but this time I had purromised her that I would be right back. So I got to go on my own. I was minding my own business, taking a leisurely stroll, keeping a lookout for them mouses, when two kids walked over to me. They started questioning me: What’s your name? Who’s cat are you? Where do you live?

I wasn’t answering any of their questions. Who did they think they are? They acted like they were from the Feline Bureau of Investigations but they didn’t have a badge to proof it. So I tried to ignore them. That didn’t work. They kept talking to me and they started to move closer. They said they wanted to take a look at my tag. No Way, I said. That has my name and phone number on it. The boy (I know him, he lives close by) he has a boy-cat and a dog. If he gives my name and phone number to his cat and the cat starts calling my house, how am I going to explain that to Mom?

You know what I did? I’m so smart. I ran into the drainage pipe. The kids called for awhile: kitty, kitty, kitty, then they went away. Well, not two minutes later they were back. And this time they brought their mother. And they had a bowl of kibble that they put at the entrance of the pipe. I was far back. I was able to see them but they couldn’t see me. Now the mother started calling: kitty, kitty, kitty. Somecat tell them “kitty” is not my name. I wasn’t coming out. No way. Yay, now they all went away again.

Another two minutes later my Mom showed up, together with all them humans. They said something about the kitty being stuck in the drainage pipe and she can’t get out and Animal Control has been called. Now how silly is that. Of course I could get out. I got in, didn’t I? Why shouldn’t I be able to get out? Mom told them that the cat Mietzi will come out when it’s quiet and Animal Control doesn’t need to come. She made all them humans leave. Mom called me by my name. I still wasn’t coming out. Who knows if somehuman remembered to call Animal Control back and told them all is well. I might get arrested when I come out.

Mom walked right into the tall reeds and started looking for me there. I let her walk all the way to the middle, then I said a little meow. Mom came back out and I decided it was safe now to come out of the pipe. Mom would protect me from evil Animal Control. I let her pick me up and carry me home.

MOL, Mom had some dried reed pieces in her hair. I was clean. The pipe is quite clean. That was a nice day. Mom was not too happy with me. I don’t know why. I think I was a good girl. I didn’t give out my phone number.

It’s not so easy to get my number.

Oh now I get it. The new library background is because of Dewey's book. Because it's available in papurr-back now. Dewey was a library cat in the Iowa town of Spencer. Being from Iowa myself, I have read Dewey's book already of course. I can highly recommend it. It's good and Dewey was a cool Dood.

I've been looking at my list of friends and some of them have some funny names. One is named "J", another "II", another "(adopted)", and then there is one with no name. That's fine. and another question is: How do I get my Maine Coon to stop puking on the carpet?

I had to MOL at those qustions. Too funny. Why would you NOT want your cat to sit on the table? You can talk to your cat much better when she's at eye level. It' easier to reach her to scratch her behind the ears. And she's available to help you with whatever project you are doing at the table.

And puking? Yes, cats puke. Sometimes we just have to.

A padded envelope came in the mail yesterday. Helpful as I am, I helped Mom to open it. I couldn't wait to see what's inside. Something for Howloween? An early present from Santa Paws?

Nope. It was two funny metal thingies. Mom was very happy and said they are so pretty. They didn't smell like nothing. Didn't look very interesting either. What are they? Mom says she won them at an auction that somefur had to help a fur who lives all the way accross the big lake. Mom explained that they are brooches and she can pin them on her fur.

Mom, what's a brooch? And didn't they have something for kitties at the auction?

Well, Rats! This postcard had been hanging on the food box ever since BEFORE Mom went on her three week vacation. It has my name on it and I just know it's an invitation from Mr. Vet. He sends me an invitation once a year. I don't really care to go to his party because when you get there, there is never any food and no games either. There is no music or dancing and not even any nice cat furniture to sit on. Well, I thought Mom had forgotten about the party because the card is still hanging on the food box. Oh, I should have shredded it while I had the chance. Mom packed me up and we went to Mr. Vet at 8 o'clock this morning. I didn't even have breakfast yet. I didn't have time to dress nice or even to take a bath. There should be a rule against going to a party that early.

So here I was sitting on this cold table and Mr. Vet just STARED into my eyes with this thingy. He got really close to my face and this evil hostess was holding me, so I couldn't run away. That is so rude to stare a cat in the eyes like that. I mean, I hardly know the man. I only see him once a year at this dang party. Then he looked into my mouth and ears too. Then the hostess gave me ONE piece of kibble to eat. What kind of a party is this? They send out an invitation and everything and then they only have one little piece of food? I didn't eat his dang kibble.

Mr. Vet said I was gonna get a FVRCP. Mmmh, I thought, what could that mean. Are we finally going to play a game? Oh, maybe Feline Versus Rat Contest Price? I was looking forward to the game. You won't believe what happened next: HE STUNG ME WITH A NEEDLE! The nerve of that guy. I so wanted to bite his nose for doing that. I didn't like that game. This was just the WORST party EVER. Mom let me go back into my carrier after that. Thank catness. I was ready to go home. This party was for the birds. Mr. Vet told Mom he wants me to come back next year.
Yeah, like I wanna go to one of his parties EVER again.

So I went out on the patio where I can't get wet, and I caught a moth and ate it. Timo ran after one too but he is so clumsy, he let it get away. Then I played the 'in and out' game with Mom. I went in and out about 4 times. Because it was raining I didn't stay out very long.

So now I had Mom right where I wanted her. Feeling a false sense of security. She let me out again and because it was raining, she thought I wouldn't go very far, and she went and did something else. That was my opportunity. I had some bigger prey on my mind. Yesterday Mom went with me to my mousing grounds and I sniffed a bunny. Mom saw it but I had my back turned and didn't see it. So that's what I went after today. The next time Mom looked on the patio, she saw me, and she saw two blood spots, and she saw a pile of yuckie bunnie leftover parts. Mom thought it must have been a bunnie because the yuckie parts were too big for a mouse. So Mom had some cleanup to do on the patio.

Well, now comes the best part. Mom always says bunnies are cute and I shouldn't eat them. I think this bunny was past it's expiration date. Mom had just gotten back inside after cleaning the patio when she heard me go: oonck, oonck, oonck. Yep, that bunny was bad for sure. It gave me a tummy ache and Mom came running but it was too late. I had barfed a big pile of half digested bunny on the bedroom carpet. More cleanup for Mom. I watched her run here and there with paper towls, rags, water and special cleaning solution and when she had sat down again, I went to the patio door and asked if I could please go out and catch a bunny that was not past it's expiration date yet. No way, said Mom. I had to stay inside. Not fair! The first bunny was defective. I should be allowed to hunt for a replacement. Oh well. It was a fun day.

By the way, Timo has a cleanup story to tell too. It's kind of embarassing. Not for us, just for Mom. He said he'll start writing that soon.

I'll dream of bunnies tonight,

Timo and I did go outside on the patio though. We watched the rain fall for a few minutes, then went back inside. Ate a bite, went back outside for a minute. We did this 5 or 6 times and Mom always had to open and close the screen door for us, MOL.

Mom was saying what a good kitty I have been while she was away. Her biggest fear was that I would take a book from the bookshelf and start chewing it up. I didn't do that. But our catsitter is a tattle-tale and she told Mom some of the things I have been doing:

- I knocked down our TV antenna (the power to the TV was off, so clearly we didn't need the antenna)

- I knocked down the wooden duck that sits next to the TV (stupid duck, what's it doing up there anyway?)

- I threw things off a shelf in the bedroom (lots of fun)

- I opened the drawers in the bathroom (somekitty tell the catsitter: I'm ALLOWED to do that!)

- I tore the warning label off the cord that opens our blinds (we don't need a warning label, we won't wrap the cord around our necks, duh)

- I played on the coffee table and the table cloth together with the candle holder and candle slipped all the way to the very edge of the table (who put stuff on my nice sliding surface?)

That's all the catsitter found out about. I won't tell Mom about all the other fun stuff I did. Like, I was balancing on top of our flat-screen TV and screaming: Look Timo, Look what I can do. The catsitter said she put one of Mom's Hummel figurines away. I can't imagine why.

We had fun while Mom was gone. But I'm so glad that she is home. I cuddle with her every night.

Oh my! I've been away for 3 weeks because Mom was on vacation visiting German Grandma and Grandpaw. So I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally got on Catster tonight. There are hearts all over my page. Sent by some very dear friends of mine. I have the feeling I missed something. Thank you so very much for these nice and totally unexpected gifts. Individual thank you's will follow soon.

Mom got back Thursday night (finally). I'll tell you more about how our time without Mom was later. So far Mom and I are keeping busy unpacking, washing Mom's furs and I've been ordering Mom around, I mean talking to Mom, alot. I love to go outside (supervised). So in/out, in/out about 10 times today I went. I only stayed out two minutes each trip because the weather here is awful today. Cold, rainy, thunderstorms, windy.

I'm so happy my Mom is home. Gotta run and snuggle with Mom.
Purr to you later,

I love to sleep in drawers and closets. I have MY OWN drawer. It's the bottom drawer of Mom's dresser. My drawer always gets left open a bit so that I can jump in and take a nap. One old sweater is in there but for some reason Mom says she doesn't want to wear it anymore. Yesterday Mom had that vacuum monster out and she closed my drawer and FORGOT to open it again! I can open the drawer. It's just a small dresser that's actually made for children but Mom uses it anyway for her underfur and things. To open the drawer I pull on one knob and then scoot two steps over and pull on the other knob. Then I pull on the first knob again, scoot over, then pull on the other. I do that until my paws start hurting. Then I take a break. After the cramps in my paws are gone, I get back at it. Sometimes I can open it pretty quick but other times the dang drawer gets crooked and it can take an hour or more.

Well, yesterday I didn't want to spend all that time opening MY drawer again just because Mom FORGOT. So I meowed VERY loudly for Mom to come and open it. I meowed and meowed and Mom didn't help me! Mom thought I wanted attention or food and I've already had my supper.

When she went to bed, she finally realized that MY drawer was shut. She said that she was sorry for forgetting and I said: well, why don't you come when I call you? Mom needs more training.

Do you cats read the vetblog here on Catster? The one from Dr. Barcas? We do. There is some good info there. Lately we noticed that there are all these ads for Nutro on the vetblog. We are very disturbed by the fact that Catster let's Nutro advertise here. Nutro (Max Cat and Natural Choice) is not a good food. We don't like it at all. They had so many recalls, we don't trust them. You might say: Other pet foods had recalls too. Yes, but Nutro still has problems right now. Cats and dogs are still getting sick from it. Don't believe me? Read for yourself consumer affairs complaints against Nutro

We want all those ads gone. That's why we are saying No to Nutro. Nutro is a dangerous food. Our advise is to stay away from it.

Want more info? Want to join the cause? Join this group Say No to Nutro Over 370 furs already did. A funny thing happened though.
I found the Community Homepage button! When I first came to the site after all the changes, I couldn't even find myself. Then I saw the Community Box but for some reason I didn't see the Community Homepage button. I had written in a forum that it would be nice if we could click a button and all our stuff/friends activities/diaries could be there. Duh, there is a button for that.

I think it needs to be more obvious for new people that there is a community and how they can join it. There should be something right on the homepage, not hidden in an orange box.

The big Catster Cat has worked very hard on this site and he deserves an extra Hamburger. I like that there is so much info on the homepage now. It is fun to click on some of the links and find out some interesting and fun things. On the old site all this information was also available, but it was not on the starting page. I like all the pretty pictures of the cats on the home page.

The new site looks fresher, more modern. I would use the picture of the Catster Ccat more. Not everywhere, that would be annoying. Maybe he can fill some of the white space that cats don't seem to like :)

Mom had a nice day. She was at the farmer's market eating yummy food, drinking herbal lemonade (something new), buying yuckie veggies and meeting her friends. Meanwhile Timo and I had to work like dogs to get rid of the carpet. Oh, there were alot of dogs at the farmer's market says Mom.

H1N1 flu part 2: You can read the full story in the Cat's Meow blog but they listened to my warning from yesterday and they are also saying if a human has the flu, they should take precautions.

One of the precautions is "Don't kiss your cat on the lips". I say Eww Gross. Mom doesn't kiss us on the lips anyway. She kisses us between the ears like she's supposed to. They have released the identity of the poor kitty that caught H1N1 from the humans. It's a 13 year old orange tabby from Ames, Iowa. That is purrty close to where we live.

The cat is really lucky to be living in Ames because the Iowa State University is there and they have a Veterinary College, which is like a teaching hospital. The cat's owners knew some people there and they got her in right away to be tested and treated. The cat made a full recovery. Yay.

Scary times we live in friends. Humans catching flu from swine and cats catching flu from humans. Who knows what's next.

Stay healthy every fur and every human too.

Maybe you already read it in the vet blog here on Catster. A cat from Iowa is the first cat to be infected with the H1N1 flu. No, it's not Timo or me, we are all fine. The cat caught the disease from the humans in the household. Several people in the house were sick. Some people call this flu the swine flu but here in Iowa we don't like to call it that. We have alot of farmers here and they are afraid the name swine flu will scare the humans away from eating pork.

I just wanted to remind the humans if you have the flu don't forget to wash your hands before you touch your cat. We don't want to catch something from you. And there is good news: The cat with the H1N1 flu has recovered.

It didn't take me long and I came running back, plopped the mouse down and layed down in the shade. I was ready to get praised for what a good kitty I am. Meowmy called Timo over and he was impressed. I let him touch it and sniff it. It wasn't moving any more but I played with it a bit anyway. And then I got to eat it! Yummy. Meowmy said once in a while you just have to let a cat be a cat. One mouse in three years probably won't hurt me. I had caught one last winter but Meowmy took it away after it stopped moving. I bet she ate it herself. I won't tell Meowmy this but I plan to go mousing again very soon.

Hi friends.

Hi friends.

Meowmy had to go to the human vet yesterday. It was for a check-up. Did you know that humans have to go for check-ups too? They even get shots sometimes. Just like us. And Meowmy had to get a Mammobam. I don't know what that is. My vet never asked me to do that. But the best thing was she couldn't eat before she went there and her appointment wasn't until 9:00. We woke her up at 6:00 to make our breakfast and Meowmy got pretty hungry. Ha ha, I laught. We were munching our nice can of Wellness Turkey and Meowmy got only water. Serves her right. Usually it's us cats who can't eat before going to the vet. And then the humans say dumb things like: Oh it's not that bad, quit your crying, you can't be that hungry. Meowmy had to leave some of her blood at the human vet and she had to pee in a cup. Eeeee Meowmy, I said. My vet never had me pee in a cup.

So at night Meowmy came home and you know, I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately. You see I got this cold. I have been sneezing the last few days. So I decided I'm just gonna lay under the couch and sleep so that I can get rid of my cold. Meowmy dragged me out from under the couch and put food in front of me. I said: "I apurreciate the bedside service but I'm just not hungry." Before I knew it I was put in our carrier. And then halfway dragged out again. Meowmy forgot to put my collar on. I said: "Hey, this is really not necessary. I just have a cold. YOU get a cold sometimes too, don't you?"

Well it was no use. We were off to my vet. My vet said I look really good. I haven't lost any weight since my last visit. And I have a cold (TOLD YOU SO). And I have a bit of a feever. He gave me something that's like Aspirin, just for kitties. We kitties need to have our own special medicin. We can't take human or doggy medicin. That would make us really really sick. And then they gave me water under my skin. Wow, that's really neat. I've never had that done before. I think it's called sub Q or something like that. They stick a needle under your skin and just pour water in. And my body just absorbs all that water and that makes me feel much better. The vet explained this is something special that they can do with cats. It doesn't work with humans because humans don't have loose skin. Yes, we kitties are very special.

Finally I was allowed to go back home. The first thing I did was I went straight to our food and ate. Mmmh yummy. I didn't go under the couch either. I felt much better. And today I was back to running zoomies and Meowmy heard me sneeze only twice. I am so glad that Meowmy made me wear my collar. The vet said I look pretty with that collar.

I think I like him.

And you know what's pawsome about it? It came with a coupon for $15 off for any purchase of $60 or more. I have some ideas on how to spend that $60. I think I will whisper them in Meowmy's ear tonight.

I gotta go. I have to go to the pet store's web site to pick out a few more things.

The other night it was way past our supper time and Meowmy wasn't home yet. Timo was complaining that he was hungry. Well, that's nothing new but this time I actually believed him. So I said to him, Hey, I have an idea. What if we make our own supper tonight? Meowmy will be so happy that we ate already.
Timo thougth that was a good idea, but we can't open the food cans. Believe me, we have tried that already. So I had another brilliant idea.
I said,' how about eating the food that's in the big, white food box? I can smell the food when Meowmy opens it.'
'You can't open that' said Timo.
'Yes I can. I opened it once and then Meowmy shutt it again and told me not to' I said. Let's see, how did I get that open. Oh yeah, I jumped on top of it. Here I go, JUMP. Rats, it didn't open. If I jump at a diffurrent angle maybe. Big JUMP. Dang, come on OPEN. Three times is a charm, biiiiig JUMP. WHOO HOO it opened. Look Timo, yay we can eat.
'Throw some chicken out purrlease'.
'Chicken, here this smells like chicken. It's cold in here. What is this? Oh no Timo, all this food is as hard as stone.'
'So we can't eat it then?'
'Duh, no we can't eat it'
So we just had to wait for Meowmy. 'Hey Mietzi, should we close that door on the food box? Meowmy always closes it'
'No, let's leave it open. We can play in it later.'
We both took a cat nap. Sometime later we walked back over to the food box, wanted to play hide n seek. I jumped up on top and there was some red liquid in it. Interesting. Of course I had to taste it. I lapped up a good big mouthful and it was aweful! I made it back down to the floor but then I just had to spit it out. I had to get that awful taste out of my mouth. But what good timing, I spit it all right into my empty bowl. That way Meowmy just has to pour it out. Well, alot of it kinda sprayed all around my food bowl but I tried to make it an easy clean up job for Meowmy. Wow, we were done with that big food box. The food in it was either hard as stone or tasted awful.
A little bit later Meowmy came home. The furrst thing she saw, after cuddling us, was the red fluid in my bowl. But she wasn't mad. She kept saying, oh no Timo, are you O.K. Timo what happened. Oh poor Timo.
She thought the red stuff was blood and Timo has always been the sick one in the family. Then she saw the open door to the food box and the red liquid inside. Then she asked me if I had opened the door to the freezer. Well, I meowed, in my house all doors should be open.
Meowmy was so releaved that none of us was hurt. The red thing she said was a popsicle that had melted. Meowmy had alot of cleaning to do and she threw out all the food from the food box. Mumbled something about it being half thawed and there might be somebody called salmonella in there. I didn't see anybody in there.

Now there are some new rules in our house:
1. the white food boxes are NOT a self service area and we are not to open them - ever.
2. she will decide when the food boxes need cleaning and she doesn't need our help with it.
3. when she has alot of shopping to do she will run home furrst and make our supper.

Trying to be helpful,
Mietzi

Meowmy was busy the last few days. She says she is getting ready for a garage sale. The whole neighborhood here is having one. Great, I thunk. I hope the hoomans sell lots of those garages. Because they keep the mechanical predators in there and I figure if they sell the garage, they'll sell that awful predator along with it. I don't like them mechanical predators at all, they stink, they are loud and big and Meowmy says they are furry dangerous.
I hope the hoomans sell ALL their garages.
A funny thing happened. I was playing with some stickers and I tore one off that said "Make Offer". Meowmy laughed and said she will put me on the garage sale too. Hope I don't have to go.

Remember when we did the FOODraiser for the shelter dogs? We send in decorated cards with Timo or my photo on it and some of our cards actually won. Brofur Timo talks extensivly in his Diary about which of our cards won. I just wanted to meow that I don't think it's fair that one of my cards got a prize as "naughtiest cat" for showing my teeth when fighting. I'm a nice cat (most of the time). I'm just wild. But most of the time I'm furry nice.

The nice Lady at The Pet Postcard Project said there are a few more prizes in the mail for us. One is a Drinkwell Fountain. I am looking forward to that. And then we won a Petz Off Blanket. I don't think Meowmy will have any use for that. I can't think of a place that she wants us off of, MOL.

Now it's for dogs AND cats and we can all send in confessions, advise, excuses and wishes. Check it out. It's really kool because for every card we send in the doggies in a shelter get one pound of food. AND you can win prizes. Maybe you will win your own Petz Off Blanket.
OMC I am DDP. How did that happen? THANK YOU HQ.
Wow, my brofur Timo was just DDP a week ago. Are we going to have another pawty? No, I don't think so. We had one when Timo was DDP and I am still recovering from that. Besides Timo's purrsday is coming up on Monday and I still need to go get him something. He has been dropping hints about his Da Bird toy needing a new attachment. And he saw this cool S-shaped lounge that one cat had. And he said you can never have too many catnip mice. I need to think about what to get him.

I wanted to explain the title of my diary in case you are scratching your head wondering. Meowmy is from Germany and she is teaching us to understand German. Mouse in German is Maus. And in Germany cats don't meow - they mau. So that's where this title comes from. It's fun to learn a foreign language.

Happy hugs and kitty kisses,

Wow, the P*I*F FOODraiser has raised over half a ton of dogfood for the shelter dogs already. Together we have all made 1,310 postcards so far. 1 card = 1 pound of dog food. You are all pawsome!
Now there is no reason to stop. The dogs in the shelter need to eat efurry day, so the more cards we send the more food they get. There are over 7500 furrs in the P*I*F (Paw it Forward) group
and over 180,000 furrs on Catster :-O . I am sure we can get lots more cards made.

Cats and dogs can both participate and write confessions about dogs, confessions from dogs, advice for dogs and NEW: you can write DOGWISHFESSIONS = What do you wish for dogs or what wishes does your dog have? Some of mine are:
I wish I was as tall as a big dog, so I could open doors
I wish I could bark like a dog to scare intruders away
I wish the neighbor's dog would come out and play with me
I wish all dogs had enough to eat
I wish I had a job like some dogs do

Here are some links to get more info:
P*I*F (Paw it Forward) group
www.dogvice.com

Cards need to be about 4x6 and original creations. You need to put your name & email or name & address on the back. If you don't want to give out your main email address you can create a new one for free at www.yahoo.com and other sites. Send cards to DOGVICE, 676A Ninth Ave. #321, New York, NY 10036 *** You can send several together in one big envelope to save postage.
AND you can win prizes. Have fun!

For every decorated postcard we send in to www.dogvice.com the shelter dogs get one pound of food. Isn’t that pawsome? The postcards are to be dogvice or dogfessions. Yes, we cats have lots of advice to give to the dogs don’t we. Just glue a photo of your cat on a 4 x 6 card and write what the cat is thinking with a marker on there.

You can write about advice you would give to a dog or confess what you think about dogs. You can confess a trick you've played on a dog, or share a story about your favorite or not so favorite dog. You can also decorate your card with stickers, sparkle, crayons. Examples are at www.dogvice.com Please put your address on the back of the card and also put P*I*F, you can win prizes.

Won’t you join me in feeding hungry pups? Just click here P*I*F (Paw it Forward) Helping Paws to get all the details.
