Meowmie was just wandering around Facebook. She was invited to join a group that was aimed at helping to remove a group that promoted and openly discussed torturing and killing kitties. The founder of the group felt that spamming this group would be a good tactic. Meowmie didn't think that was a good idea. It would 1. mean having to even look at this awful group's page and 2. give them ammo to report the group against them. I know people do a lot of horrible things to kitties and I've seen plenty of kitties who have come here as a result. But any means nessicary doesn't mean not trying to the right way furst.

Yesterday evening Meowmie read a chapter of a book by Martha Grimes. In the chapter one of the main characters a British police detective is out on a moor contemplating when a cat finds him. He sees the cat is starving so he takes it to a animal hospital. The chapter became particular powerful and sad at this point. The various clients in the waitng room are described. A young man who can't control but thinks he is controling his Alsatian dog and his Bull Terrier. A woman with a box that holds a parrot probably not long for this world. A couple with a calico lying between them as if to protect it from the dogs. A rich woman woman with a poodle. The clinic is described despite it's name of True Friends as being almost like a prison. A little girl comes in with a box. The detective hopes it's something normal like a box of kittens. Something outside this cold world he is sitting in. The girl approachs the receptionist who asks what she wants. She says it's about her cat. The receptionist asks the girl's name. Then shes asks if the cat is sick. The girl cries out that her cat is dead. At that moment the detective knows her cat died in that place and she was sent alone to face bringing her pet home. The others in the room shy away into themselves scared to face this child. The rich woman is the only one to speak and her only words are prehaps the coldest anyone can say to one who has lost their pet. "You can always get another kitty." The detective is the only one who shows an annouce of care, of understanding. He holds open the door for the girl as she takes her beloved cat away from the place she trusted to help and care. It ends with him watching her alone with her fury and loss.
