<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom was sending an IM (instant message) to Darci at work this morning to ask her a question. Mom thanked Darci for the answer and Darci replied, "Have a great day!" and included this image from her list of emoticons on the screen:

<a id="img8630600890" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert(\'Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.\');" href="http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd5/mercymilo/Samoa.jpg" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img8630600890');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd5/m', 'ercymilo/Samoa.jpg', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">Emoticon</a>

It took Mom all of two seconds to laugh so loud that I'm sure the entire building heard her!

Mom had to identify the image for Darci right away! Darci couldn't recall who had sent her the image, but it's out there, and here!

Yes, we've always known this friend of ours was an emotICON of her own!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Wow, I'm a diary pick today, and so is Huey!

Last night, a very sneaky visitor was caught on our security camera that points to the front porch. This sends email alerts to my parents and Mom was using the computer in the kitchen at the back of the house.

When the video was viewed, my parents saw that the visitor had a tail with stripes on it. He ran up to our front porch which was lit, maybe grabbed something and hurried away. It was not a tabby cat but a raccoon!

He probably thought about ringing the doorbell until he saw the sign that said, "We Do Not Open the Door for Strangers", which we put up because of all the solicitors we had been getting.

It was pretty funny, and if Huey wasn't sleeping at Mom's feet at the time, he might have heard or smelled the visitor.

So, that was our excitement at the end of 2011.

Wishing all our friends the best in 2012!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom had to take a hanging light fixture in for repairs at a specialty shop which is near the Purrsnickety / Bow Wowzer pet boutique shop where we got our sculpted cat tree. She thought it would be a purrfect time to go to that store since she hadn't been there since we got our tree.

It was a weekday and she was on vacation (and still is) so she thought if she went early it wouldn't be so crowded. Wrong! It took her 45 minutes to find a parking spot and she almost gave up and came back home, until someone was pulling out of a spot on the street in front of her! Good thing the spot was at the front of the sidewalk because she doesn't think she can parallel park anymore. MOL! Even the parking lots were full and valet-parking was backed up!

After all that she said she had to get us something as well as Huey. Huey got a big birthday cookie for his birthday tomorrow, and we got a bag of freeze-dried lobster treats and a bag of freeze-dried chicken treats!

Yummy! I could eat an entire bag all by myself!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I'm celebrating my first Gotcha Day on Catster today, only because my mom just added those dates to our pages last week!

My friends have been sending me gifts and leaving me cheerful and sweet messages which I so appreciate! Thank you all!

Mom and Dad were just talking about the day they adopted me. While they waited outside of the gated area for the adoption event to begin, they saw me way in the back of the room peeking out of my cage, wondering where the heck I was and why I was there!

When the gate opened, Mom headed right over to see me first. My rescuer didn't even have time to hang the information card on my cage before Mom and Dad asked to see me. It didn't take long after that for them to decide I was the one they wanted to take home! My rescuer was thrilled because she was worried no one would want to adopt a shy kitty.

I remember how happy I was to know there were two big kitties, Mercy and Milo, at my forever home, since I was pretty scared. They took care of me, especially Milo, and I had to learn what dogs were too.

Now I'm the oldest kitty in the house, but I just consider myself one of the gang!

Well, it's Sunday, and you know Sunday means chicken is cooking, and I have to get back to my post on the floor near the stove so that I get chicken first!

Thanks again for celebrating my Gotcha Day with me!

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I was tagged by my friends Hilda and Teebo!

==============

1. Meow! Are you a noisy kitty or a quiet kitty?
<b>Mom and Dad say I'm a cute little quiet kitty with a tiny kitten meow. I use my voice when I'm about to get some chicken!</b>

2. Litterbox! Cover your business or let some other kitty cover?
<b>I cover my business like a little dainty girl. But I have a confession, I love to roll in litter that has been kicked out of the box--but not by me, of course!</b>

3. Happy! Favorite Daily Routine?
<b>When it's time to get some chicken! I can also smell that pot of chicken when it's boiling and weave through my Dad's or Mom's legs to make sure they don't forget to give me some!</b>

4. Hiss! Least Favorite Routine?
<b>Being picked up makes me squirm!</b>

5. Ding-Dong! What do you think about visitors to your house?
<b>Why are they here?</b>

6. Friends! Do you like other animals?
<b>Only when they don't try to bite my bum!</b>

Here are some friends that I am tagging! Please, no one feel left out- if you are reading this and you want to play, consider yourself tagged! Be sure to let your friends know they've been tagged by sending them a message or rosette! Angels can play, too! Tell us about your life at the bridge or your life at home before the bridge!

<b>NOTE FROM ME: I'm not tagging anycat but if you haven't been tagged and are reading this and want to play, go for it!</b>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Little me is seven years old today! I may be the oldest cat in the house but I'm still the smallest one, and I think I always will be.

Thanks so much for the wonderful messages you've left for me. I am so grateful for having such thoughtful friends!

I'm having a nice and relaxing day today. The weather is nice and windows are open for us to enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. We haven't been going out in the backyard very much because Huey gets so excited when we're out there with him that he starts herding us back in the house!

We're fascinated by the bird nest that is on the patio awning because it's so close to the back of the house that we can see it from three windows. We watched as it was being built and can't understand why birds want to build a nest there every year because it's on the retractable arms of the awning and twigs and stuff are always falling out!

My parents seem to always forget to clean it before this time of year, and now it can't be opened until the babies are born and leave. I'm going to add a picture of it to my page so you can see.

Thanks again for celebrating my birthday with me!

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ After Mom heard that <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=1115469&j=t"><b>ZACK</b></a> and <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=1115470&j=t"><b>ZOEY</b></a> get to play with ping pong balls, she decided to go to the sporting goods store to buy some. Once she got there she ended buying a container of 36 of them! Well, there are nine of us living here and she figured some would disappear under furniture.

Now we have ping pong balls all over the house! I play with them by myself most of the time but it's really cool when a few of us play with them at the same time and make them bounce around on the hard floor or knock them down the stairs.

If you want to get creative, have a human take an x-acto knife and carefully make a small "x" on them, stick some catnip in the hole and maybe even wrap some fabric around them for a different kind of toy!

Speaking of Zack and Zoey, tomorrow, February 6th, is <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=291740&j=t"><b>ROCKY ANN'S</b></a> first anniversary at the Rainbow Bridge, and on Super Bowl Sunday! She's wearing her Cheesehead to cheer the Packers on, and I know she's happy that QuarterZACK and Zoey have filled her Mom's and Dad's hearts with so much joy.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I have been so playful lately. I usually like playing by myself on cat trees, batting toys around and jumping on my own shadow.

Now I have a favorite playmate and that's Pebbles! We've been chasing each other around the house. Mom and Dad think it's so cute and are thrilled. Geesh, doesn't take much to excite them.

Sometimes I go in one of the condos and hide and wait for Pebbles to walk by so I can jump out and surprise her and then I jump back in the condo waiting for her to walk by again.

I know this sounds like typical cat-play to most of you, but it's taken me a long time to come out of my shell and it just gets better and better.

Now I really look as small as a kitten and play like one!

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I'm honored and thankful for all the congrats I received today for being the Diary of the Day! Since my last diary entry was about Sugar, it made the day extra sweet!

I've been doing alot of shadow-dancing lately, and it's always in the kitchen. That shadow of mine just seems to show up really well in that room and can be more fun than any toy.

Gotta go now because Pixie is literally screaming for Kitty Kaviar and when I hear that scream followed by the sound of the refrigerator door opening, I know it's time to jump up on the dining room table for one of my favorite treats.

Another thing I need to do is check the diary picks, which we haven't been doing daily. I did see that my friend Ashlye is Cat of the Day, so I have to stop by and congratulate her too!

Thanks again for celebrating with me today!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We were sad that <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=632113&j=t"><b>SUGAR</b></a> had to make her journey to the Bridge yesterday. I'm shy and sweet, just like Sugar, so we had that in common. Now Sugar is a shy and sweet angel.

I never got to tell her that her name always reminded Mom of the song Sugar, Sugar by The Archies. I knew if I told her that she wouldn't have had any idea what I was talking about because that song came out in 1969 way before her time! But several times today, and right this moment, we are listening to it on You Tube!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ One of the things I like about having boys in the house is that they like to build litter sandcastles right outside the litter boxes. Why? Because then I can roll around in it when it's on the floor and then get up and shake it all off!

When we used to use corn-based litter I use to eat it and so wouldn't use the litter box for what it was there for, so now I get to play with litter on the floor instead.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I always knew I was a cat but my parents say I am mingling more and more with the family now. I still like to sleep alone sometimes like every cat does, but more often than not, they find me sleeping with the others in the family room when they get up in the morning. In fact, they just plain see me alot more now!

The other night my parents heard all this tapping going on and discovered it was me tap dancing on the floor pouncing on my shadow! I didn't know it was my shadow because it sure looked like another cat to me!

I've also been having fun chasing that red dot with the other cats but sometimes we crash into each other. Some cats just need to learn the rules of the road!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ For a little girl, I am a big eater, so Mom has been cutting up my pills in tiny bits and putting it in my food and I eat it all up while she watches. She never had to put them in a pill pocket again since that first time.

It wasn't until a few days ago that she was able to look at my piggies when I came downstairs to sit next to her on the couch, and the pills are working! My pads don't look completely normal but they're getting there. Of course I haven't let her take a look again, so I'll continue taking them for a little while longer.

Doxycycline is my new friend!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Last July I talked about my plump piggies, which is what <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=797385&j=t"><b>ALDO</b></a> called them. I got a steroid shot and some foot wash, and they started to look better.

Well, the plump piggies are back!

<a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=310190&j=t"><b> LUCY</b> </a> told me last time about a condition one of her Catster friends had called <i>Feline Plasma Cell Pododermatitis</i>. I can't remember who her friend was and whether it was <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=969040&j=t"><b> TASHA</b> </a> or not, but I did talk to Tasha, who has had it before, and from that conversation Mom was able to talk to our vet on the phone and got a prescription for Doxycycline.

When the vet said the Doxycycline would be in liquid form and either water or food had to be given with it, Mom frowned because she couldn't see how she would hold me to try to force me to take it. I've come such a long way hanging around with my parents and I am the hardest kitty to catch. They don't like trying to chase me down, and they protect me from any cat in the house who even looks like they are stalking me. They don't want to make any experience around them negative.

Mom was very happy when the vet called back and said I could get a prescription in pill form and we are very happy to report that I took my first pill tonight very easily. I was in the cat bed downstairs in the family room and Mom split the pill in two and put them into two separate Pill Pockets because even one pill looked big to her, especially for a little kitty like me. She put them in a little bowl and put it in front of me and I tasted it a little and then turned away. So, she went and got some cooked chicken pieces and put it in the bowl and stuck it around the outside of the Pill Pockets as well. First, I ate around them and then I ate both of them, all on my own.

It was a pleasant experience, and that's exactly what Mom wanted for me. I hope these pills will deflate my plump piggies!

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dad went to bed since his work week starts on Sundays and when Mom came upstairs she was totally shocked to see me sleeping with him because I haven't been in their bed for almost two years!

Poor Dad, because Mom woke him up just to tell him I was sleeping with him and then she subjected both of us to that camera flash! Then she goes and adds the picture of us on my page, which I'm sure Dad will appreciate when he finds out!

Maybe Dad will forgive Mom for laughing when he realizes how special this photo is!

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Happy Halloween!

Today I received my special 5th Catster cake. I haven't grown in size very much since I first became a member, but I've definitely changed my attitude about living here.

Mom thinks I am as cute as a button and Dad is still calling me Sofie Little because I "am" little, but I sure have a big appetite. In the past, I've gone through periods of being affectionate and then retreating back to being super shy, but I've changed so much lately. It can only get better!

Thanks to all my friends for being my friends!

Mom made my hat very quickly out of felt and during the photo shoot it started to rip at the seams. Stopping to repair it was out of the question so it was decided I was done at that time.

I have continued to be quite the sociable kitty and my parents are very happy about that. I also heard that giving Quincy chicken would be a good thing during his chemo treatment so I'm thrilled!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I'm slowly becoming more sociable now which means I'm getting more pictures taken in different places in the house.

I really do not want to be picked up, but I am really enjoying head and body scritches from my parents. Twice in the past week (and that's alot) I went downstairs and jumped on Dad's lap while he was on the couch, and I've been napping out in the open downstairs which I don't usually do.

Between me becoming more sociable overall and Enzo warming up to Dad, it is a big change in the house--for the good.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I'm a diary pick today, and I haven't been one since March 26, 2007. Wow, that was a long time to wait, which I did very patiently, so this is a big deal. I don't like to rush into things, and obviously neither do they!

I came downstairs and jumped on Dad's lap this past weekend, and he didn't even have any food that enticed me. That is a big deal because I probably do that once a year!

I've also started sitting on the middle stair landing and I like it when my parents stay on the first level and stick their hands through the stair rails and scratch my ears and belly, but not if they come up and look like they're going to pick me up! That's a big deal.

This week I came downstairs and went into the play cube for the first time since forever, and that's why I have a new picture of me in it. Another big deal.

I guess this is proof that I'm not holding grudges against those foot baths I've been getting, but it doesn't mean I'm going to make it easy for anyone to catch me for them. My piggies are plump but they still run fast!

Who knows, maybe in five years I'll let my parents pick me up easily, and in another ten years I'll run for President!

Thank you for sharing my honor with me:

Hazel Lucy, Edgar, and Kahn (plus a cute graphic) for your pawmails!
Angel Buddie for your pawmail and healing rosette from the gang of well wishers!
Angel Sir Sonny Bono for your pawmail!
Anna for your pawmail!

Hilda for the tree!
Rocky Ann for the ice cream!
Hooch for the paw!
Beauty for the cherry drink!
Sugar for the watermelon!

Camille Rose for the paw!
Angel Wally for the ice cream!
Xena for the duck in the pool!
Lucy for the rose!
Truffles for the ice cream!

We had some excitement last night, but it's Reebok's story, so he'll be sharing it later tonight.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Bathing my paws has been no easy task this past week. It takes Mom almost a half hour to get me, but once she brings me to the bathroom she lets me walk around while she fills the sink with water. I rub against her legs back and forth.

I don't mind the shampoo as much as I do the water, but afterwards I get to clean myself while laying on a towel. Pixie was sticking her paws under the door again so we let her in. She looked at me and told me I should be glad I was only getting my paws wet because she knows a thing or two about getting full body baths!

Mom actually thinks my paws look better but she will have to take a better look later when I'm dry so she can compare them to the pictures she took last week of my paws.

Mom thought I was upstairs in one of the cat trees sleeping but when she came to get me she discovered I was up on the window sill. I started to jump down and was going to make a run for it, but she grabbed me and locked both of us in the bathroom.

I didn't know what to think when my plump piggies were getting shampooed in lukewarm water. After we were done, Mom sat on the floor and put me on her lap wrapped in a towel. Then I had to get all this affection and listen to her apologize. Pixie's little paws kept showing up under the door, too!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I just got home from a vet appointment at 11:00am today. About a half hour before my appointment Mom was trying to get me out from under the couch but was unsuccessful, so she had to get Dad.

Well, Dad got me to come out but I went running to the other end of the couch and then saw Mom, so I turned around and went the other way and saw Dad again! I didn't want to jump up on the back of the couch so I decided I would outsmart Dad and fly over him instead, since he was lying on his stomach. I may be shy, but I'm swift!

I went running upstairs and went under the big bed. I should have stayed there because they can never get me that way, but when I saw them looking at me under the bed, I snuck out and crawled under the dresser!

Dad finally had me held hostage in one corner of the dresser and then Mom carefully pulled out the bottom drawer and got me. Then I got stuck in the carrier and started crying.

The reason I went to see the vet was because my back paw pads are swollen, but there are no visible lesions. Mom discovered it when she trimmed my nails. After an overall exam, the vet threw out some long words....<i>Eosinophilic Granuloma</i>, an inflammatory skin disease. My lymph nodes on the back of one leg felt a bit enlarged, but you don't notice anything when I'm walking, running, or jumping. The only way to know for sure would be a biopsy, so we are not going to assume right now that it's a fact.

For now, Mom begrudingly agreed to let me get a steroid shot, but they had to do a quickie blood test first and my blood test came out great, so I got the shot. Plus, I got some Allergroom shampoo so I can get my paws washed. Ha! If they can catch me first! Then we have to call the vet back in a couple of weeks to report on my progress.

Oh, and the $213.62 also paid for them to weigh me and tell me I'm 7.9 lbs, so I have no weight loss!

On the way back home, there were some balloons on the center divider on the road to advertise the Farmer's Market by our house. It's windy today so they were flying into the path of the road and we thought it would be fun to drive into them but we missed.

Glad to be home,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We had our current Summer pictures taken a couple of weeks ago. The cabana was sitting on top of the desk and I relaxed in it for a bunch of shots until I decided I wanted to leap from the desk to a nearby cat condo. That's when the cabana went crashing to the floor and broke!

Dad offered to fix it but Mom and I decided we were done. I was the last one to get their photos taken anyway. It's still going to get fixed because we found it quite cozy in there and we need to play with the lanterns.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom just reminded Dad that it was my 5th birthday tomorrow. He looked at me and said,

<i>"Sofie Little, do you feel any older?"</i>

I squeaked,

 <i>"Give me some chicken and we'll talk!"</i>

And, so he did. I told him I didn't feel any different except for the fact that I have to share chicken with yet another cat now!

I'm planning to have a quiet day at home tomorrow pretending I'm an only child, but I'm really happy to share a birthday with the following friends:

Happy 12th birthday to <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=64639&j=t"><b> HAZEL LUCY</b></a> (aka my Cousin Hazel Lucy)! I bet she can think of at least a dozen reasons to celebrate life!

Happy 17th birthday to <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=292136&j=t"><b> CAMILLE ROSE</b></a>! She gets to read Seventeen magazine now!

Happy 6th birthday to <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=598389&j=t"><b> LITTLE BIT</b></a>! Little Bit and her family are practically our neighbors!

Happy 8th birthday to <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=366075&j=t"><b> KASHMERE</b></a>! Kashmere is an angel now so she'll be celebrating her birthday at the bridge.

Happy birthday to all May 1st kitties!

Love,

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I got really dirty today when we went out in the backyard to play. The picture Mom added to my page was just before I rolled in the dirt, but she liked that picture the best because my tail was sticking up, which is a sign of happiness and confidence! By the time I was done I was a dusty brown color but I sure was happy!

Oh gosh, I just realized I'm going to be 5 years old on May 1st and I'm sure I haven't gained an ounce or an inch. I'll always be able to qualify for those Happy Meals and pay child admission wherever I go!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I'm telling on Reebok, Enzo, Melody, and Pixie, because they're the ones that chase me around the house the most while I'm minding my own business. Sometimes if I run to a hiding spot, like under the big bed, dresser or couch, they'll continue to bug me.

If Mom or Dad are home they protect me because they know I'm just a delicate little thing. They tell me I should put those buggers in their place but I rarely do, except when it comes to...

CHICKEN!

Yep, I protect my chicken. I got some boiled fresh chicken today and any other cat who acted like they wanted to take it from under my nose got smacked and they backed off.

I need more chicken to boost my self-confidence!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ The custom-made bed comforter hasn't been put on the bed since about six cats ago. First of all, Dad had always felt that Mom picked a fabric that was too heavy. Second, they thought we would ruin it, which I don't understand at all!

Well, I heard Dad say that he couldn't stand the cold anymore, even though we have heating in the house, so he went and put the heavy comforter on the bed in place of the other one. That was so exciting because we love when something different shows up around the house, though for the majority of us, that usually excludes humans.

We decided to check out this "new" comforter. Some of us dived under it and sharpened their claws on it right away, but I'm too dainty to do that stuff. It's got these little embroidered threads in it. You get the picture. I thought it was better for napping.

Mom is actually kinda glad Dad got cold.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom heard Dad mumble something about "Pebbles and Sofie Little" last night while he was sleeping, so this morning she told him about it. He said that was probably because yesterday he scolded Pebbles for chasing me.

About the only time I like being close to the others is when we're outside in the backyard or during meals. I rub against them and they don't chase me during those times. Other than that, I scream really loud even when they "look" like they want to chase me, including that Pixie, who probably weighs more than I do now!

It's nice to be protected, even in a dream!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom spent most of yesterday with Grandma and didn't get home until the early evening. Even though Dad told her he saw me at dinner time, Mom could not find me before she went to bed. She wasn't worried as to whether or not I had gotten outside but that I was okay.

All my usual hiding spots were checked and I heard my name being called but I decided to just ignore it! I wanted to see how long it would take them to find me. About 15 minutes later, Dad got smart and looked under the back of a recliner chair that they've never seen me go under and found me! I just batted my eyes at Mom when she came to see for herself.

I'm going to try for 30 minutes next time.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ My Fall picture is probably only the second time that I ever sat up for a special occasion photo session. First, I am very camera-flash-sensitive, and if there's not enough light, our non-flash pictures don't come out very well.

It's rare that Mom will have trouble getting us to look up because there is a window behind her which intrigues us, but she used a toy to get me to look up this time and instead I sat up, for all of three seconds! Not only that, this is one of the few times she actually used the camera flash for our photos.

Today, I did so good for my Halloween photo and next to Joy, I finished very quickly, but don't think I sat up this time! Most of the time, it's all Mom's fault if we take a little longer because she doesn't have the camera adjusted right!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I didn't get any hot dog today like I mentioned in my last diary entry, nor did I get to eat a sandwich. I *became* a sandwich last night!

Mom saw Riley on top of the sofa bed in the corner against the wall looking down towards the floor. She had a hunch and went to take a look and there I was, sandwiched between the side of the sofa and the wall! I looked up at mom with my pretty green eyes. Pixie would be the only other kitty who could fit in that narrow space.

Riley just batted his innocent eyes at Mom and got a quick lecture, even though there was no proof that he chased me into that spot. Mom started to help me get out but then I came out by myself, so I wasn't really trapped at all!

Mercy wrote that we're getting rid of that sofa bed next week. It's one of the places I take naps on but it'll be fine. I've got lots of other hidey-holes!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We do have a couple of big giant dogs in our family, but they don't smell as good as the hot dog that Mom just ate!

For a small adult cat like me, I sure am food driven. I came out from under the couch in the living room just because I could smell the hot dog that Mom was eating and sat right next to her on the couch because I wanted some. I got a piece about 1/8" wide and that really wasn't enough for me but it's all I got.

So, while I just knew I was going to get a new sister, I've only seen her once when Mom brought her upstairs to meet me while I was lounging on a cat condo. I wasn't afraid and just wanted to smell the "area under her tail" and that was it. I've never been shy towards other cats, just people.

My Dad sure knows how to try to make people believe that it was Mom's idea to bring a new member into our family.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dad went to the pet store today to buy more canned food for us. As soon as he came home I overheard this conversation:

<b>DAD: It's a good thing you didn't go because they had alot of kittens there today.

MOM: Really? I want to go see!

DAD: Well, you can go see and give them a donation or something but you can't bring anymore cats home.</b>

I've heard "that" before. And yeah, Dad, give Mom a reason to go see the kittens. Why didn't you give them a donation?

<b>MOM: Like how many were there? What did they look like?

DAD: There were alot, probably a dozen or so. Different kinds, with long and short hair.

MOM: Maybe I'll go see. No, maybe not.

DAD: Yeah, you probably shouldn't.</b>

Mom spent the next hour talking herself out of going and she didn't. Why did Dad tell Mom anyway when he knows that she knows that the rescue place is there every Saturday? They're in a separate room at the pet store and he could have easily shopped for our food without stopping to look at them himself, and he also stopped to look at the dogs that were available for adoption.

Well, we know all those kitties and doggies are currently safe in their foster homes.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ The last time I wrote about a mysterious boo-boo on my nose was in January. Now I have another one!

Sometimes when I want to be alone, I crawl under the dresser. I am the only one who can fit under there. Enzo has started to lay down on his side and swat at me while I'm under there, otherwise, he never does that when I am out and about. That's how Mom thinks I got a boo-boo on my nose.

I have an idea, we'll send Enzo back to the house a few doors away where he was born! No, I don't think Mom will like that. I think he's just jealous that he can't fit under the dresser and also because he likes to wrestle with the girls in the family, and I don't wrestle!

I wonder if this will excuse me from the next photo session that Mom has planned for us. Probably not. She'll just have to hire a good make-up artist.

Since this is the only time she can get really close to me, she loves hearing my purr, which she never gets to hear otherwise. I even let her move me around while I'm there if she needs to.

Mom wishes she could hold me more during the day, because it would sure make it easier for her when I have to go see the vet. But, she may have to wait another year before I'll let her do that easily.

We haven't had boiled chicken breast for months because of the treats we've been getting, but today Dad announced that he was boiling chicken! That's much better than the treats!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ This morning I was upstairs with my Dad and let out a blood-curdling scream! Mom was downstairs. Dad told Mom that all my brother Reebok did was look at me like he wanted to pounce on me and I screamed. You would scream too, if you only weighed 7lbs and you had a brother that weighs 20+ pounds who looked like he wanted to pounce on you.

Dad made Reebok leave the room. It pays to be small and shy because you always get protected and can never do wrong. That's how Mom and Dad treat me, anyway. Besides, it's my birthday, and I think I'm allowed to be a Drama Queen today, or every day for that matter!

Thank you to all of my friends who celebrated my 4th birthday with me today! Our family has great friends, and each of them are special to us.

I also want to mention <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=193861&j=t"><b>*TINKER*</b></a>, who added a primary picture of him on his page dressed up for my birthday!! Thanks Tink!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I almost escaped celebrating my 4th birthday on Catster this year. Mom was not planning to making a birthday page for me, and she definitely wasn't going to try to put a hat or anything else on me for that matter. She just felt I should be left alone and I couldn't have agreed more, but this morning she decided to try taking pictures of me without wearing anything and thought I took a nice picture so she put a birthday page together for me.

So... now I'll be shyly celebrating my 4th birthday on May 1st, along with <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=64639&j=t"><b> COUSIN HAZEL LUCY</b></a>, who will be 11. She's like the celebrity Angelina Jolie. I'm not taking the celebrity test because you can't be a shy celebrity, so I'm sure there's no match for me.

Our good friend <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=366075&j=t"><b> KASHMERE</b></a> is also celebrating her 7th birthday on May 1st. Her family knows how to party, so I know it's going to be fun at her house!

Happy Birthday to all May 1st kitties!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom is calling me Silly Sofie now. I have been sleeping in the guest bedroom on the sofa bed in the early evenings until I see Mom walking by on the way to the master bedroom. She stops at the door to the guest bedroom and says "Come on, Sofie" and I stand up, stretch, and with my eyes half closed, jump off the sofa bed and trot to the master bedroom. I wait for her to get in the bed and then I jump up and sleep on her right side just like I've been doing for about a month, and stay there all night. This is about the only time she can really hear my purr!

During the day, I am back to being shy! Oh, I come around to eat, go out in the yard with the others, and rub against Mom's or Dad's legs to tease them, but if they look like they're coming to pet me or pick me up, I run, unless they're eating something good like steak!

Purrs,

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I've been sleeping next to Mom on her right side, and right side only, every night since I wrote my last diary entry on the 13th! That side is usually claimed by Reebok, but he's been good about letting me have his usual spot and sleeping at the foot of the bed instead. When some of the others jump on the bed, they always look at me real funny.

Mom believes I would not be sleeping with her if Milo were around and she is probably right. Guess she's the next best thing.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I slept next to Mom all night last night! It only took me three years to try it and it wasn't as bad as I thought! I started under her right arm and she made sure none of the others were going to push me out of my spot. When I stood up a few times to change positions and then curled right back up next to her, she had a good feeling I was staying. Sure enough, when she woke up this morning I was still there. But then I knew it was time to get up and have breakfast so I jumped off the bed.

I have to decide whether I'll sleep with Mom regularly or not. I don't want her to think she can start picking me up and carrying me around the house. I may not be ready for that until next year!

Oh, and we received a surprise package yesterday from <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=193861&j=t"><b> TINKER and family</b></a> for Valentine's Day! <content:encoded><![CDATA[ I surprised Mom again last night. We have a rectangular bed on the couch in the family room that is like a pad. It was put there for us kitties to hang out on while Mom and/or Dad are watching TV. Mercy and Pebbles love to knead on that bed together!

When Milo was here, he used to hang out on that bed and I would curl up really close to him and take naps. Mom was watching TV last night and I jumped up on the bed and starting rubbing up against her and staring at her, so of course she started talking to me and petting me. Before she knew it, I plopped down next to her and started kneading her and the bed and fell asleep against her. Mom cannot remember the last time she ever saw me kneading anything or anybody, let alone sleep against her. She was frozen for the next hour or so until she had to get up! By then, Mercy and Pebbles were on the bed so I sandwiched myself between them.

This may not sound like a big deal to most kitties, but it is a big deal for me. While I rub against my brothers and sisters and Mom's and Dad's legs, I typically sleep alone these days. I do play and it's not that I hide in the house; I am just somewhat skittish, so sometimes it takes months to a year for me to exhibit a new positive behavior. Patience! Always a good thing when it comes to me.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ While most of you enjoy the luxury of sleeping with your humans at night, I have never done so, until last night. Dad was already snoring away and shortly after Mom crawled into bed, I hopped onto the bed too. Mercy, Melody, and Reebok were also there so they, along with Mom, looked at me like I was a foreigner, in darkness. Even in the dark, Mom could see the tabby patch I have over my right eye. She was so shocked she didn't want to move nor did she want the others to move for fear I would jump off the bed. She wanted me to be comfortable. There I stayed all night.

Those of you who know our family are probably thinking it has to do with the relationship I had with my brother Milo, who is no longer here, and Mom and Dad do think that is reason I was on their bed. They'd want nothing more than for me to continue joining them in bed, as long as it makes me happy.

It's Sunday, and I *know* it's Sunday. It's the day my Dad has steak for dinner. I can smell it and that means I get to hop on the chair next to him while he shares a bit of his steak with me.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I was supposed to have my annual checkup a week ago along with my sister Mercy, but when it came time to get me I ran under the bed! There was not enough time to coax me out from under the bed, so lucky Pebbles got to go in my place. Unfortunately, my appointment was rescheduled for today, and I was "captured" in a very interesting way in order to get me into the carrier.

Earlier this morning, Mom saw that I was sleeping in Riley's Fish Bed upstairs and thought that was good as long as I stayed there. When it came time to get me for my appointment, she was glad I was still in the bed. She slowly grabbed the "lips" of the bed and held them shut, and carried me in the bed all the way down the stairs to the car in the garage where the carrier was and gently "emptied" me into it! I never do more than squeak at any given time but I started crying. Because I am such a shy kitty, Mom really does not like to use such methods in order to get me but I had to go and she knew if I was given the opportunity I would have squirmed and jumped out of the bed or out of her arms.

I got what they call a Junior Wellness exam. They told me I had pretty green eyes so that made me feel just a little better! I gained one whole pound, so now I'm a little over 7lbs. I was fairly quiet during my exam but stayed as close to Mom as possible. Then when the vet started looking in my mouth, she showed Mom where my gums had some redness to them and recommended a dental cleaning. So, I got whisked away to the back room to have some blood drawn. After we get those results back, I'll have three months to ponder over the dental cleaning.

I'm glad to be back home now! And, I am out and about and got some chicken!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ My brother Milo used to be the only kitty in the house I would seek to cuddle with for a nap. If others joined us that was fine with me too. I guess I never forgot how comforting he was when I first joined the family and although I also cuddled with Mercy, I spent more time chasing her around the house and up the cat tree.

Now that Milo isn't here, Mom and Dad were a bit worried about me but I've been fine. I actually started a new habit which I *never* did while Milo was alive. I've always eaten my regular meals alongside the others but in the past when we would get "treats", everyone would jump up on the dining table except me. I would climb to the top of the cat tree nearby. That may sound like a "no-no" but that is how it works around here with dogs around. The dining table even has a couple of cat beds on it! It's not used for human dining at all anymore. Anyway, now I jump up on the dining table with the others and eat my treats with them. It's a good sign that all is well with me but I tend to sleep alone although it's not because I would mind having company. That's just how it is.

A little bit about the holiday cape and hat the girls are wearing this year. Mom found the cape online somewhere last year after Christmas and saved it. Our hat is from an outfit two years ago that we wore that matched perfectly. It just had to be turned around since there's a blue bow on it. It was comfy so I didn't mind wearing it, but only for photos!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I don't know what I would have done without Milo beginning three years ago when I first came to live here. I was tiny for my age and very skittish. Mom had bought a special pink bed just for me and that's where she put me when Diane, the lady who rescued me, brought me here. I closed my eyes and flinched anytime anyone tried to pet me. At the time, there was only Mercy and Milo, in addition to our dogs. When Mercy first saw me, she hissed and ran away. Then I got to meet Milo, who walked over to me in my pink bed, took a couple of sniffs, and started cleaning my face. That's when I knew everything was going to be okay. Shortly after, Mercy got use to the idea that I was going to be part of the family and I spent alot of time playing with both of them. But the majority of the time and up until recently, I would be found napping with Milo. I always felt safe and loved by gentle Milo.

Mom always said to Dad that she didn't know what I would do without Milo, and now he's gone. When Milo went to heaven yesterday, Mom made sure I got to say goodbye to him, and I did. She was worried about me, but yesterday when both Mom and Dad were sitting down I kept walking back and forth on their laps for them to pet me. They were relieved that I didn't go into hiding and I've been eating my meals and my favorite treat, boiled chicken breast.

Even though we have alot of kitty beds all over the house, Milo's favorite bed to sleep at night was a round cuddler type bed that is in Mom and Dad's bedroom and I would often sleep with him in it as well. This morning, Mom woke up to find me sleeping in the bed by myself. There was an empty spot in the bed, but she's sure it still smells like Milo.

I'm thankful that Milo gave me all the love and reassurance he did the three years I've been in this family which helped bring me out of my shell. I know that he knew how much I loved him and he knew nothing else but to love me back.

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

When we go out in the backyard, I look for any dirt that's on the patio, usually from when our naughty dogs have been digging, and roll in it. I come up with dirt all over me, and it's especially noticeable on the left side of my face where my fur is all white. Not only that, I do the same thing on the mats that sit outside of the litter boxes. Mom says it's a good thing I don't roll around inside the litter boxes! <content:encoded><![CDATA[ We had so much going on this week at our house that it wasn't until last night that Mom helped me open my box from <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=193861&j=t"><b>Tinker!!</b></a> In the box was this adorable fleece pink bed, beautiful soft teddy bear, and enough toys to make your eyeballs pop out! The only problem was, my brothers and sisters couldn't get their paws off *my* stuff, especially the Yeowww!!! catnip bananas, apples, and lemons!!! Riley went in *my* bed and liked it so much he took a nap in *my* bed in the middle of the hallway!! I decided not to kick him out since he looked so comfortable.

Mom finally took some pictures of me this afternoon with all the goodies but she waited until too late in the day so the picture that I'm in isn't very good. We'll be adding more pictures to my slideshow as soon as we can!

Thanks, Tink!!

I received another package yesterday from <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/cats/193861"><b>Tinker!!</a></b> I'm saving that one to open tonight on my very special day after Mom gets home from work and can take pictures of me. Tinker has been so excited about sending me something that I can hardly wait to see what's in the box! I'll let everyone know as soon as possible.

Thank you to my friends for your sweet Stars and Rosettes! You always know how to make a kitty very happy!

By the way, would anyone like a Furbie?

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I received a surprise today! A big cardboard box sat on the front porch until Mom got home from work and brought it in. It had *my* name on it. I sniffed the box out real good first and then we opened it. That's when I saw something PINK with white polka dots. It was an adorable teepee bed for my birthday from <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=291740&j=t"><b>Rocky Ann</b></a>!! It's the first and only teepee bed in the house. The top part is held together with velcro strips and when you pull them apart you get a vaulted ceiling! My brothers and sisters wanted to get in it but I asked them not to until I checked it out first. Mom hurried to take pictures of me and my bed just so you could see. Isn't it cute? Rocky Ann told me there was something else coming in the mail for me from her too. Wow! Am I spoiled? Yes! But I'll never be rotten!

Thanks so much, Rocky Ann!!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom thoroughly cleaned our Litter-Robots today and they smell fresh! Phew! I think it even made my Mom feel fresh. Afterall, having eight kitties in the house can really fill things up fast, if you know what I mean. It doesn't help that I am such a lightweight that sometimes I leap into the box without using the step that triggers the sensor to clean the waste. So, I'm feeling fresh for Super Bowl Sunday. Nice to know there will be clean litter boxes to run to during breaks.

Aside from that, as Mercy mentioned in her diary, I'm going to be a bridesmaid....again! First we were in <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=64639"><b><i>Hazel Lucy's</a></b></i> and <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=62740"><b><i> Buddie's </b></i></a> wedding, and this time we'll be in <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=194317&j=t"><b><i>Samantha's </i></b></a> and <a class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=334687&j=t"><b><i>Shadow's </i></b></a> wedding on Valentine's Day! <content:encoded><![CDATA[ Neck-naked? Yes, we had our holiday pictures taken a couple of days ago and Mom removed the collars off of the girls. She decided to leave them off to give our necks a break and could see how the fur around our necks were a bit matted. I feel like I've lost a few pounds. Besides, that new "dog" collar Mom bought me was too wide for little ole' me but I never complained as long as it didn't keep me from eating my chicken. It's been really nice to get those little finger scratches around my neck in places I haven't gotten them in a long time. If I had it my way, I'd never have to wear a collar or tag again but somehow I doubt it.

He was a very special friend of mine that lived happily in Australia. We would typically write to each other during late hours Catster time. Ziggy was always so upbeat and we would sometimes critique each other's pictures, talk about how he might find a "crush", and recently, how his Mom just bought a digital camera and was taking so many new pictures of him. I went into shock last night when I received the pawmail from him that he had passed yesterday. The letter was painful to read but was so endearing.

Ziggy will live on Catster forever as he will in the hearts of the family who loved him. I will be keeping in touch with him as he continues his life at the Bridge. Now we all have another Angel watching over us.

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

Mom and Dad realized this morning that they had not seen me around waiting for my chicken fix. They started looking all over the house for me, under the bed, furniture, and behind closed doors. Then Mom took the cooked chicken out of the fridge and knew I definitely wasn't in the house when I didn't come running for some.

Dad went out to the backyard, since we get to play out there at least once a day, and worried that Mom had forgotten to check that I was in the house last night. Being a shy kitty, I am really not the type to venture out on my own. Dad started calling my name while looking over the fence in neighboring yards. We do have a <a class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert('Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.');" href=" http://www.catfencein.com/"><b>Cat Fence-in</b></a> containment system, but Mom went out to the front of the house anyway, and started looking for me in the bushes. Then she heard my tiny meow as I responded to her voice. She then realized I was still in the backyard so she went back and found me huddled behind a small storage shed, grabbed me, and brought me back in the house. I was so hungry but she gave me chicken right away and apologized.

What's with Mom? Has she forgotten how to count since we got my new baby sister, Joy? I think she should go sit in the corner with a dunce hat!

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We have a lemon tree in the backyard and left some lemons unpicked. We've done that in the past, but this time I noticed something that I thought was odd. Every day, I'd look at the lemon tree through the window and would see one or two that were completely missing their skins but the remainder of the lemons would be hanging perfectly on the tree. This happened for a few days. At first I thought that maybe the squirrels were to blame until I actually caught a glimpse of a rat climbing the branches. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things until I saw it again through the leaves. Sooooo....I made a mad dash to tell Mom, who quickly went outside and picked all of the remaining lemons and disposed of them. We sure didn't think we had any rats in the neighborhood but we were glad to get rid of them from our yard, at least!

Back to my rat patrol duties....

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Some of the reasons why I think Dad is special:

1. Mom had her eyes on me at the adoption fair inside the pet store they shop at. It was my first time there. After Mom carried me for awhile, she handed me over to my Dad. When Mom asked Dad what he thought about adopting me, he quickly responded by saying, "I don't have a problem with it", and they weren't even planning to adopt a kitty that day nor had they previously discussed adopting one in the future.
2. Dad never yells and is patient. He knows I'm a shy kitty, so he takes care not to spook me in any way. It's paid off cuz' I just love to rub against his legs and will jump on his lap, especially when there's chicken or steak involved. Then he gets so excited when I'm on his lap that he'll quietly call out to my Mom to look.
3. Dad knows how much I love to chase the laser light, so when the others are trying to take over, he pretends that he's put it away so that they leave and then finds me so we can continue playing.
4. I got my nickname "Sofie Little" from my Dad.

I love my Dad!

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

While Mom, Dad, and the dogs were away for four days this week, our neighbor Kim came to check on us several times each day. Mom warned her that I would probably run under the bed when she came over, since I am especially shy with strangers. She was right!

Kim always knew where to find me but would always try to talk to me while I was under the bed. On the second day, she decided to boil chicken for us, which is my all-time favorite! There she was, looking at me under the bed, and I could smell the chicken in her hand with my little nose. I stuck my head out, gently took the chicken from her hand, and went back under the bed to eat it. After she did that a few times, I decided she was a pretty cool human. She started seeing me out and about more often after that.

I was glad when Mom and Dad came home though. As soon as I heard Mom calling my name, I went running to her and haven't been under the bed since. Then I heard Dad calling me "Sofie Little" and started rubbing against his legs. That's when he knew that it was time to open the fridge to get me some more of that good chicken that Kim made for us.

Life is always good when there's chicken.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Today is my birthday and I have been having fun celebrating it with my Catster friends since this past weekend! I've eaten so much food, played so many games, and received the nicest presents, such as a day at the Kitty Spa, a gift certificate at PetSmart, clothes, toys, and flowers.

I had a nice steak and chicken dinner with my family tonight, and it was delicious! There are advantages to being a small kitty who can eat alot and not put on weight, so that I can get extra servings. After dinner, we had a big chase game going on around the house and made lots of happy kitty noises. Then we all had treats for dessert.

Thanks again to all my kitty friends for all your messages, fish treats, and lovely rosettes! I look forward to partying with you more the rest of this week!

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

All the other cats and the dogs were sleeping while Mom and Dad were having dinner tonight. I jumped up on one of the chairs and sat nicely to watch them eat. Dad gave me bits of steak and it sure was good! I am one of the lucky ones who can eat alot (and I do) and not put on weight.

After dinner, I followed Dad to the couch to watch TV. I started rubbing up against him, purring, cooing, and flopping on my back. Dad was so thrilled he looked at my Mom in shock but kept petting me and talking to me. While that may not sound like a big deal to most people, it is a big deal. You see, I was very shy towards my Mom and Dad when I first came here. I was never mean but very skittish. They loved me just the same, always talking to me, and never forcing themselves on me. I went from running from them to running to them to rub against their legs. And, tonight, it was a rare moment for me to show Dad my affections in the way that I did.

Dad is still talking to my Mom about it, saying that he and I are the best of friends! Silly Dad, and being the ex-Marine that he is, he sure is a softie. Hey, softie, when you take away the "t", is Sofie! Maybe he and I really do have a special connection............

Love,
Sofie]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

Mom and Dad took me to see the lady in the white coat (vet) last Saturday for my annual check-up. I cried in the carrier because I hadn't been in it for awhile and didn't know what was going on. Good thing the car ride was short.

I was a little nervous in the exam room and didn't like having my temperature taken nor did I like being squeezed here and there, but I was much calmer as long as Mom was talking to me and I could lean against her. The good news is that I'm healthy and I still only weigh 6lbs!

As soon as we got home and the door to the carrier was opened, I flew upstairs and ran under the bed. I didn't come out for two hours but when I did, I got to eat chicken in a room all by myself without having to share. That was the best part of the day!

I wish every kitty good health and few visits to the vet's office!

Until next time...

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

Here I am, six months since I wrote my last diary entry, and I haven't gained an ounce! Being a lightweight can have it's advantages, especially at our house. I'm still eating as much as I want and playing hard without running out of breath. Add a dose of shyness, some sensitive humans, and you know how you'll be treated.

Recently, I've discovered it's quite fun to jump up on the top shelf of the computer desk and do some redecorating once I get there. I'm no Martha Stewart but I find some interesting books, knick knacks, and artificial greenery that need the Sofie touch. None of the others can help with this task better than I can because they can't eyeball a spot to jump up on with confidence that they'll land safely, due to their larger sizes.

It's a beautiful Sunday, and also the day mom boils chicken for us. I've been sitting in front of the stove watching the steam from the pot, enjoying the aroma of what I know will end up in my little tummy, and with no worries about whether I'll still fit into last year's outfits or not.

Kitty hugs,

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

Don't let my small size fool you! I may be petite for my age and have a tiny meow, but I can leap to the highest spots faster than any of my brothers and sisters, gobble up a whole chicken breast, and get away with doing alot of so-called naughty things because I am a bit shy, so I get extra TLC. Yeah, I have them wrapped around my little paws alright!

I like to chase my sister Mercy around because she thinks she's hot. I manage to get a rise out of her enough so that she turns around and nips me on my backside while I'm running away laughing, so I let out a big squeal and Mercy gets in trouble. Yeah, big trouble....she gets called away and gets a treat! But then, so do I, so it's all worth it!

Now I have a new baby sister they call Pebbles who is quite feisty! We chase each other around too but then I get bored after awhile because she stops and gets interested in toys! She'll probably grow up to be bigger than me but it won't matter, as I'll always be the one to exhibit the true meaning of Petite Power!

Winks,

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and noticed I've gotten a bit "rounder". I like to eat whenever any of my brothers or sister eat, especially Milo, who eats alot, so I'll just blame it on them for ruining my girlish figure!

My favorite game to play at home is to chase the light coming from the laser pen. Mom and dad think that I follow them around to be petted but it's really because I'm waiting for them to bring out the laser pen. I could chase that thing like a crazy kitty all day long!

Oh, they brought home a new little brother the day after Christmas. I had to bop him on the head a few times to let him know I'm the little baby princess in the house! But, now I see that he just wants to be my friend so I've cut him some slack. I'm really starting to like him because he's my size and mom even caught me rubbing up against him. I think we're going to be good friends!

Gotta go now!

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Diary,

I have been in my forever home for almost a month now. I have a loving brother named Milo who grooms and hugs me all the time and a playful sister named Mercy who will always be a kitten at heart. Then there's my humans, mom and dad, who feed me, talk to me, give me rubbies, and make that red light dance around the house! There are two dogs here and that puppy named Quincy is the one who seems really interested in me. We stare at each other alot. If he would just quit chasing me I wouldn't even bother to run!

When mom first put this pink polka dot thing around my neck I didn't like it so I started scratching to make them think I had fleas, but they knew better. Then mom hung this metal heart thing on it with my name on the front and address on the back and it felt like it weighed more than I did! I guess it's so they won't forget what my name is. Oh, and that's the reason why my name is spelled Sofie instead of Sophie, so that it fit better on the tag. Silly humans.

I know I have food, toys, litter box, lots of warm places to sleep, other furry animals for company, and most of all, love. Yes, I love this place and I'm here to stay.

Mom says it's late and time for me to go to bed, but not before I say a prayer...........

                                                      A CAT PRAYER

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back.
For window sills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool,
And keep the secret feline rule,
To never tell a human that,
The world is really ruled by cats.

                                                                    --Author unknown
