Hello to our Catster friends, sorry Zory and I haven't been around much. Mom finished her Masters Degree and was busy, busy, busy. She wouldn't let up online or anything.
She's also packing up the house so we can *sigh* move. She says this is the last time though. I hope so, moving is not an activity I enjoy. In fact I don't enjoy any activity.

13 POUNDS BABY!!!!!

Yep, no more Fatso, I'll be gracing the Catwalk in no time. Mom hasn't put up photos of teeny tiny me yet, maybe she won't. You probably won't even recognize me 3 pounds smaller. Hey, that's around 20% of my entire body weight-GONE.

Big thanks to all of you who sent prayers, friend requests, purrs, rosettes and stars. I'm doing much better. Mom found a better vet and I'm on a new prescription diet. So far so good.

And the vet found that I'd lost weight, now Zory's the Fatso.

Now that we're 24 days into the New Year it's probably time to change my song-any suggestions?

Winter Wonderland, Southern California style

Palm trees wave, are you listenin'?
In the pool, water's glistenin'
A beautiful sight, we're happy alright
Livin' in this desert wonderland.

No way, there's no blizzard,
Here to stay is a lizard,
A warm sunny day, we like it this way
Livin' in our desert wonderland.

In the desert we will have a picnic,
Cactus, sand, convertibles and sun.
Christmas dinner is an old tradition,
Tamales, rice and tacos by the ton.

Later on we'll perspire,
Temperatures go even higher,
A hot sunny day, we like it that way,

A lot of kitties have asked how we got the background on our pages to go all the way through everything. Mom tried to send pawmail to everyone with the code, but it kept "coding" its self and didn't work. Below is a code that will work for sure. It's a good idea to copy it into a Word document.

td, table, tr, span, li, p, div, textarea, DIV { background-color: transparent;}body{ background-image: url(PUT YOUR ADDRESS HERE, IT MUST START WITH HTTP AND END WITH .GIF);background-repeat: repeat;}

put >STYLE< at the beginning of all that code above and then >/STYLE< at the end however you'll need to turn the >< in the other direction so they are facing each other
Don't leave any spaces, then copy it into your extra bio field, it should work.

If your background is really dark, you'll need to make all the writing bold. You do this by writing >b< at the beginning of any text and >/b< at the end. Once again you have to turn those >< in the opposite direction.

Good luck everycat.

Today started out to be a great day, the sun was shining, birds were chirping, and there was a hot air balloon flying above our balcony(pictures to be posted by the weekend). I decided it was a good day to nap, bathe, eat, and nap. Somewhere between bathing and napping, Zory and I heard a ruckus outside the front door.
Bang, bang, bang, stomp, boom, boom!I, being the ferocious feline that I am, ran and hid behind the couch. Zory, being a-few-cards-short-of-a-full-deck(in my opinion) stood by the door. The bell rang, there was a knock, I felt a shiver of the end being near. After what could've been an entire stop at the water bowl, the demon at the door left.

When mom came home, she lugged in a TALL skinny box. It was taller than her, and only a few inches thick. As odd as it looked, I was too busy napping to really care. Zory cared, she sniffed and tried to scratch at the box. I fell asleep since it was apparant Zory would give me the 411 possibly at breakfast tomorrow. The sleep was not good however as I was haunted with torment as to what was enclosed in that box. A lucid dream awoke me, and my eyes seemed to focus right on that box. Was it moving? Growing? Something was not right.
To escape the wrath of the box, I decided to traipse out to the balcony. Maybe there would be another hot air balloon to alleviate my anxiety. I took solace in the shade of my kitty shade tent and returned to my favorite past time; napping. It was then that mom got scissors. Next she got... THE BOX!
My heart stopped, my lungs shut off. Oh where oh where was that hot air balloon from above? Would somebody save us?
Mom began stabbing at the box.
Zory danced all around as if possessed by it's powers.
And out fell.......
glass.
Hunh?

I don't know what is going on, but our sliding door is now longer. There is also a hole in it. Zory keeps jumping through the hole and going from inside to outside. Not me, I'm not going through that portal of mystery. I'll stay outside forever if that's what needs be.

Everyday is something new.
Everyday I get more and more irritated. I'm a simple kitty, change is not my friend. So we're moving to Palm Springs area in two days.

*For those of you watching CNN yes, this is near that area that is on fire. However, don't fret, our house is not on fire. It's not even close. The Morango Valley is on fire and it's WAAAAY on the other side of the freeway and up a mountain.*

Anyway, each day everything in the house is moved somewhere different it seems. And stuff keeps vanishing! Mom sold stuff on E Bay and is donating other items to a women's shelter. Some of this stuff included my condo-humph. Yesterday the fridge went away. That's where my food was, and now it's in the oven. I liked fridge food, not oven food. I'm crossing my claws that some of the stuff that gets sold will include Zory! MOL! That little skunkcat, she's loving the moving and packing. Personally I think there isn't enough space in the moving truck for Zory, so mom should sell her. Mom says if there isn't enough space for things, she'll take two trips. Humph, and here I'm trying to help her save gas money, that stuff is $3.30 now.

On a more positive note, mom found a good method of keeping us cool. When the fridge left she got a BIG tub and filled it with ice. She put a bunch of frozen waterbottles and drinks inside. Then she put it all the the bathroom and shut the door. For over 24 hours the bathroom has felt just as cold as if the AC was on. Zory slept in there and mom plans to do the same the day we move. She says you can't do this too often because of mildew, but it's a good temporary fix.

The DSL is supposed to get set up the day after we move, but they said it could be longer. We may be offline for a week or so. That's alright, it gives mom more time to unpack and explore our new surroundings.

Watch out Tiger Woods cuz Lucy Cat will be at this years Palm Springs Golf Classic.
OK, maybe not, but I did add a photo of the golf course as my page background. We're down to a few days and the move will be complete.
As much as I don't like to move, this move seems to be an exciting one. Mom's on Cloud 9 about the whole thing. She went to some sort of training for her new job and came back a happy camper. This is good for me because it means more massages, more food, and well, it seems that life has suddenly gotten A LOT better.
Once we move mom is going to take photos because our new home has a great view of everything, and a fountain right outside the window. This will be my new background.
Mom is also *sniff* selling my condo, and I think I heard her say she was getting rid of my paper sack! Not my sack, take the condo, but please mom leave my paper sack! I got it from Santa Paws, the condo was just from the store.
Sounds like once we move, mom is getting all new stuff including a new condo. She said it is a fresh start for all of us. She is even getting a new car, and it only has 2 seats. One for her, one for Zory, and I get to stay at home and practice my golf swing-yippie!

It's turning into summer and it is hot, Hot, HOT, HOT. Today was 104 and mom says it's going to be much hotter. This is because we're moving to the desert. I checked the weather and it was 109 there today, but mom says it will be in the 120s when we move. She's a little concerned because I had a bout with Heat Stroke last summer, but the situation seems to be under control.

We are moving because mom got a new job there. She was job hunting for years, but it was always too hard to leave. This time an opportunity presented its self and she decided to take it. Mom said it was time for a change. She works with kids and will miss them a lot. Zory even met some of the kids once and they were cool. But there will be more kids at mom's new job, they'll be 9 year olds. That's the same age as Zory is in human years. YIKES! Spend all day with a bunch of Zorys? One is plenty for me thank you very much. Mom seems to like Zory's age, so I guess she'll like a class full of them.

Because of the weather, all our fur is falling out. As joke I told Zory she would be bald soon. HAHAHAHA. Turns out it's kinda true! Mom's getting her a Lion Cut so she will be cooler in the desert. To be funny mom's going to leave her skunk stripe so she'll look like a lion with a mohawk! I'm gonna LAUGH so hard I'll probably lose one of my lives!
Since our fur is all over the house-even in mom's food-mom has taken to combing us. Because I don't like to be touched or noticed the only time mom can comb me is when I eat.
It's kinda nice, dinner and a massage.

I was so much smarter and more mature at her age. Better looking too.
I'd like to take this moment to remind mom that she has never made a big deal out of any of my birthdays. Could it be because I hate attention, humans, clothes, toys and new food?
In honor of her big day I let Zory sleep in my carrier. Hahahahahaha-I hate that thing. I also left her a rosette and voted for her in a contest.

No sense in suspense, I'll get right to the point.

I'M CAT OF THE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe it, just can't believe it.
At first when mom told me I thought it must be a mistake, maybe they ment Zory? Maybe they ment another Lucy(it is the most popular name here), but no, they ment me!
Mom's so proud, she sent a link to all her friends and family. She also printed out the homepage and hung it up at work. This makes me happy because a lot of people bring their human kids to work, but furbabies aren't allowed. Personally, I think I'm much quieter and cleaner than little humans. She also printed out the page because she's sending a thank you letter to the Humane Society where I used to live in a cage.

Big thanks to all of you who have sent mail, rosettes, and kind words. Mom's helping me to get back to all of you, but it may be a little while.

I do want to answer a few questions I've gotten:
1. Yes, the close up photo of my face is real.
It's not a painting and, except for cropping the sides, it hasn't been altered.

2. Thank you for the compliments on mom's photography.
She really doesn't have any photo skills. Just a mid-priced digital camera and an HP printer/scanner/copier thing that Best Buy overcharges for. The joy of digital cameras is you don't waste film on bad photos. For every picture she posts of me, she's deleted about 3.
This is unlike Zory who gets about 1 photo posted for every 12 mom takes. The reason for this is simple: I'm lazy. When mom gets in my face with the camera, I'm annoyed and want to move. But the whole process of getting up and moving is too strenuous, so I sit there and wait for her to finish.
Zory, on the other hand, is always moving and mom has to distract her with toys, catnip and food to get pictures.
Did you see Zory's holiday photo on the chair with flowers ? It took mom nearly an hour to get that shot. That's why the bow is all undone. It was tied perfect until Zory started running around and biting it.

Thanks again to Catster and everyone else here for all your support.
Puuuurrrrrrssss

So what's everyone up to?
Me, not much. Mom gave me good news and bad news yesterday.
The good news was: Zory didn't get selected to be a finalist in the Coolest Cat Contest.
The bad news was: Neither did I. :( I'm sure it was an oversight or a computer glitch. Thank you to everyone who did vote for me.
Oh well, a lot of great cats(and dogs) did get choosen. Some of them are even friends of ours, mom's really happy about that.

That kitten's finally calmed down. Mom got her something called Video Catnip. She just sits in front of the TV when its on. I find it quite relaxing as well. I even accidently purred once when it was on. I stopped that quick; don't want to get a reputation as a nice cat or something crazy.

Guess what? Mom did some research and thinks Zory might be part Maine Coon. It's because she's HUGE, with a mess of fur, and a l-o-n-g tail. I'm crossing my claws that this means we'll be sending her to Maine soon. She's not a California Coon afterall.

Meows and purrs(err...I mean hisses) Lucy

Yesterday marked my 1 year anniversary on Catster!
Did you see? My page now has a cake on it!

Since joining Catster great things have happened.
Such as, mom got me a new paper sack.
She also entered me in the world's coolest cat contest.

Some less-than-great things have happened too.
For example, that kitten came to live here. Oh well, it could've been worse. at first mom was going to bring home a DOG!

Mom made me put on costumes for Halloween. I'm a frog. She also got me a sundress which I'm wearing in the contest and now it's the bottom picture. I like it best when she just puts on my collar and leaves me alone. Save the outfits for Zory, she loves them.

Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone.

Know what the 5 most dreaded words are in the feline/english language?
Zory-go-play-with-Lucy
Ugh, that kitten is on my nerves.
Everytime mom leaves she tells me to watch Zory. Like I'm the nanny or something.
A few days ago she got a box and put Zory inside. Then she ran to the closet to get supplies.
I was hoping she was getting packing tape and stamps to send Zory to Siberia.
She wasn't. She got mistletoe paper and a red bow. She wrapped part of the box, stuck the bow on Zory's head and took pictures. She said it's so Zory can be in the Catster Christmas stroll like I was last year.
I do believe I looked great in my Santa suit and Zory looks so-so in a box.

That's the good thing with Zory around, she doesn't bug me for photos anymore. After the ribbon/box thing she stuck Zory in an apple shaped cookie jar to put the pics on her page. But Zory jumped out before the camera was ready.

Sometimes I want to play with Zory's new toys. She got a 2 foot tunnel, a cloth crinkle bag, mice, a faux suede carrier, a beanie Dalmatian, and a million other things. They look like a little bit fun, but I have to be older and more mature so I only watch Zory play.

Do any of your humans make you exercize?
If not, I suggest you get fat and lazy and they will.

Exercise is great, it works like this:

-First eat and get fat
-Next the human will spend tons of money on toys
-Refuse to play with the toys, especially ones cats who look like skunks have touched
-Now the human will buy catnip to get you drugged up and hyper
-Resist the temptation
-Then the human will get you a leash to force walks.
-When the leash is on act like your legs don't work. The human will feel guilty for dragging you and give you extra food.
-Now the human will refuse to feed you at your dish. She'll start putting food on your condo and other places where you're supposed to climb and run before Zory gets the food.
-Sit by your dish and look pitiful
-Finally the human will carry you to your condo and even bring the food directly to your mouth. No more of that strenuous bending your head forward.

I love my new work-out plan

Skunky is here and I guess it's forever. I'm trying to get used to this idea, but it's not easy.

The new kitten is crazy! She runs around and jumps on things and she tried to play with MY toys. Nevermind that I haven't touched any of them in a year, they are still MY toys.

And get this-she brought FLEAS into the house. My mom got a flea collar but found out kittens can't wear them. So I thought this ment we'd get rid of the kitten. Nope, didn't happen. She put the flea collar on ME! I don't have fleas.

Yesterday Skunky had to go to the vet-HA HA! She was so excited, I didn't tell her what a nightmare she was in for.
But then she came home and I thought she was dying, she was so tired. She was sleeping more than me.
So I went to go check on her and watch over her. Now don't get me wrong it's not that I care about Skunky, I was just checking-just being nosy really.

I'm getting a sister and she looks like a skunk.

First I was getting a puppy, but that didn't happen. So then I was getting a brother who looked like a tiger, but that didn't happen either.

Now I'm getting a sister-for sure. She's a black and white tuxedo like me, but she has a big stripe down her back.

Today my mom brought home special food, dishes and a new litter box just for my new skunk sister. And NOTHING for me.
She says the new kitten will be fun and bring out my maternal side. I hope that's code for "this kitten won't be staying long."

She lied-we're moving And a DOG is coming to live with us. How is this something great?
She even started throwing things into boxes and telling me about our new place. There's a bunch of big dogs that live there. Once again, I ask, How is this good news?
I remember moving once and I briefly lived with a dog-Rylie the Dalmatian.
(Rylie now lives with family in another state)Moving wasn't fun and that Dalmatian always seemed to be on a caffiene overload.
Now we're moving again and getting another Dalmatian.
The human says the Dalmatian will be soft and cuddly and protect the house. I do all that, kinda.
Also the Dalmatian will be a running partner and enter some race with her.
Hummm...this means the human will be gone a lot with the dog. Maybe this is good news.

Hello again everyone. This is Lucy, not just Lucy, but Super Brave Lucy!

Let me explain:
The other day my mom came home, all excited, saying she had a treat for me. "Uh-Oh." I thought, "This is never anything good." Not to begin with anyway. Sometimes these "treats" come with humans attached. And once the 'treat" was a kitten!

It turned out to be a stuffed cat she said looked just like me. Humph, I beg to differ. So I went on strike and refusd to play with my new doll. Even when she triend to tempt me by putting cat nip on it.

But then the horror, she put the doll in my bed on the condo! But I knocked it down, this went on for awhile and eventually the human got bored. Lucy is declared the winner in the doll/condo war.

The next day I was at hour 8 of my 19 hour nap and that human put the doll on me! I was sooooo mad, but too tired to retaliate.

This is where Super Brave Lucy comes in. Since my condo is now infected with a stuffed cat, I've been sleeping on my human's bed. In the waaaay far corner where she can't touch me of course.
She keeps coming in, during my naps, and saying how nice I've gotten. What's that supposed to mean?

Been on Catster only a few days and already have 12 friends. Hello to all of you.
Yesterday I had a moment of freedom, the human left the door open leaving for an 8AM race. She does that on the weekends. Runs-for no apparent reason. Why would one do that? She should just sleep all day as I do.

Victory was mine as I lept out the door.
Then I heard a noise and hid behind a bush. Not to mention I was all out of breath. That's the most physical activity I've had since...well...ever.

Hours later the human returned and let me in. Never was I so glad to see her, though naturally I acted bothered by her attention.
Something about that running makes her nutty. She forgot my name! Rather than Lucy, she called me Filthy! Thinking I was Filthy she put me down and didn't touch me for a long time. Hopefully she gets confused and thinks I'm Filthy more often.

That's me, Lucy, Queen of Everything.

My slave is typing all this for me as I'm much too busy. Doing what, you ask? Lying on my back and digesting my 4th meal of the day.

She keeps saying I'm on a diet because I'm a fat cat. This seems to mean she feeds me more food, more often. The vet said I have to lose 4 pounds, I think I look fine. Though once someone asked if I were pregnant.

Pretty soon there'll be many more photos of beautiful me. The disc got lost somewhere, but there are some great ones of me sleeping in the sink, and playing with my former friend-a goldfish!

Stay tuned.
