Oh, Sinead, I'll never forget you. It's been almost two years now and I still miss your purrs and love. I wish you hadn't had to cross the Bridge in the way you did. I'd hoped we could share the last minutes of your life together. My sweet little soul mate, my dreaming companion, my life-saving girl. I love you always, and I know we'll be reunited someday.
Dear Sinead,

I'll never forget the day I first met you. You came bounding out of your carrier with a meow 10 times bigger than your 6-week-old self and immediately ensconced yourself in my lap, purring like crazy. You looked up at me with your huge eyes and I was hooked.

I love you more than I ever imagined was possible. You've opened my heart, soothed my pain, purred away my tears, and more than once, literally saved my life. As I struggled with severe depression, not knowing whether I wanted to live or die, your loving glance and your constant vigils gave me a reason to keep on.

Your purrs, your conversational chattiness, the fun you have playing with your Red String of Death, watching you as you enjoy the thrill of the hunt (whether for a toy, a bug, or a real rodent), your "cave kitty" game, and the beautiful soul I see in your huge, golden eyes. ....

You're my inspiration and my healing, my Sweet Pea, and a living example of how to live in the present.

How many ways do I love you? I love you as many ways as you have furs on your body!

Kisses and tummy-rubs,
Mama

Mama, the bringer of food, dispenser of love, and our loyal secretary/typist for our weekly advice column, Paws and Effect, is going to be at a fund-raiser for the Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League, a no-kill shelter located in midcoast Maine.

The second annual Strut Your Stuff Cat Show and Photo Contest will take place Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, located at the corner of Pearl and John Streets in Camden, Maine. Cat show judging will take place from 10 a.m.-noon, a Kiddie Kitty costume parade will happen from noon-1, and pet health seminars and book signings will take place from 1-3 p.m.

Mama will be there in her capacity as an animal communicator (she can communicate telepathically with kitties, because we trained her so well), and she will be selling merchandise from the Paws and Effect Boutique at CafePress. She's also going to put together some booklets about common cat behavior issues to sell to people who come to the show.

Mama adopted our stripy brother Thomas from the Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League, so she's glad to give something back to the animal shelter that saved his life and made sure he had a loving home. *purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*

If you live anywhere near Camden, Maine, we hope you'll come and visit Mama on June 10 and help the Rescue League raise money to help other kitties!

The official Paws and Effect website (http://www.paws-and-effect.com) is up and running, and we're always happy to answer your questions about cats and their relationships with people and other animals.

Not only that, but we've just opened a Paws and Effect Boutique at CafePress (http://www.cafepress.com/pawsandeffect) to sell goodies that will help us support Mama while she works so hard for us AND help animal rescue organizations in our local area (midcoast Maine). We've got some beautiful black cat designs and designs featuring artwork by Monica Richards, artist, author and half of the wonderful band Faith & the Muse. *Purrrrrrr*

Some of our kitty friends know that Siouxsie and I have been writing an advice column called Paws and Effect, where we give advice to cats and their people. Well, until just recently, we were merely a community correspondent column at a local website....but now, we've gone BIGTIME and gotten our own website: http://www.paws-and-effect.com! We're really excited, and we've gotten more feedback from viewers in just the first couple of weeks than we did in months at that other website.

We're getting ready to offer special Paws and Effect merchandise, too, so people who love us can get their holiday shopping done AND support us too.

Gotta run now; lots of work to do. It's tough being a Famous Kitty sometimes, but we don't complain.

My sister Siouxsie and I already have our own LiveJournal, but it's exciting to have a diary of my very own. I'm a quite philosophical kitty, and I hope to share some of the wisdom I've gained over my eight-plus years of life with humans. We're going to have our very own website soon, too, because we write an advice column for cats and their people. When it goes live, I'll make a note of it here in this diary. We hope it'll be ready by Halloween, as that does seem fitting for black cats.
