Today I celebrated my birthday on Cloud NINE. My angel pals threw me an awesome party and I had a bunch of earth pals who celebrated with me too!

Each comment, pmail and gift you send to me is treasured. It's nice to be remembered on any given day.

Today we also celebrated Angel Wally's birthday as well as Angel Maggie Moo's. I guess you can say we're birthday triplets! My angel dog brother, Cosmo, also celebrated his birthday today with his pals and I heard he had a great time.

After several days of rain, the sun shined bright all day over at my house--our little gift of smiles to my family.

Thanks for being you!

Love,
Angel Milo

Four years ago, I made my sudden journey to the Bridge. It's a day that will always be remembered, along with the happy times during the four and a half years I spent with my family.

A part of me lives within each of the remaining kitties in the house, with the exception of Pixie, but she's adjusted very well in the family. And, of course, I have a special spot in Mom's and Dad's hearts. They'll always be grateful that I was a part of their lives.

I'm proudest of little Sofie, since she was so attached to me. She's still a little cat but now she's the oldest of the kitties and seems as happy as can be. Go, Sofie!

My family and I thank you for remembering me on my Bridge day with your sweet messages and gifts. They mean alot to us!

Love,
Milo

Even though the sign says "Mercy's Garden", I know something belongs there to honor my memory too, since she was my big sister and for awhile we were the only two cats in the family.

Mom chose the long-haired cat statue in the photo she just added because it reminded her of me, and it just arrived today. It's not in it's permanent spot yet but I think it's perfect.

I sure loved to sit in the garden, and Mom and Dad miss seeing me there too!

Bitu told her friend Daisy Mae Sunday Times about the picture, and it inspired her Mommy to paint a picture of me several years ago.

Today we received the painting in the mail and we absolutely treasure it. Daisy Mae's Mommy had become very attached to it, but she felt that it belonged in the home which I loved, and we want to share it with our friends.

On Wednesday, October 28th, my pal ICEBOX joined me at the Rainbow Bridge.

Icy has always been such a good friend to me and gave me the nickname "Biker Dude Milo" after seeing a picture of me next to a motorcycle. When I went to the Bridge, her Momma made my Mom a beautiful little basket with a candle and a stuffed white kitty in it.

Icy's Momma loves all her babies, but Icy was her baby girl. She'll be updating her diary soon, but in the meantime, we were given permission to share the email that her Momma sent to a few friends the day she passed:

Subject: We lost Icy!

My poor, poor Icy baby.

I found Icy on her cushion tonight. She curls up in the late afternoon and sleeps for hours. I went to wake her up for her nightly ground beef feeding to get weight on her, but she isn't going to wake up. She left us several hours ago and I wasn't there to hold my baby girl.

Icy was born with a heart murmur and we knew it was coming, but it is always always too soon and sudden. I wanted a Rainbow Bridge page ready for her when this day came and I have hundreds of butterfly graphics as she loves watching the butterflies out the window in the Butterfly Garden. I just could not ever find the time.

My hubby takes this stuff way harder than I do and he is going to totally lose it, and today is hubby's birthday.

Thank you for your continued love and support to our entire family. We are reading all of your messages even if we are not emotionally able to respond to them personally.

I have asked two very special friends that I met on Catster to help Milo get his wings, so today I need to spend some time selecting some photos for them. They were specifically asked not only for their talents but they, along with many others, loved Milo for the kitty he was, and so his photos will be made with much love behind them.

As I type this, little Sofie is in our bedroom sleeping alone in the bed that Milo slept in most of the time. My husband said, and I agree, that of all the kitties, she will probably miss Milo the most.

Dear Friends,

Yesterday was a long day but I was glad and sad to have that time to go through the countless number of photos I have of the kids and put a picture up of them with Milo on each of their pages.

We have been reading all the messages left for Milo and the family in the Stars and Rosettes, pawmails, main forum, groups, and picture stroll. Thank you Rocky Ann, for starting the memorial forum for Milo, Gimme for the candle lighting site, and Maggie Moo for the picture stroll. We also discovered via "updates" that a number of his friends have put his picture on their page as their main photo created by Buddie and also wrote diary entries about him. I'm sorry if I'm unable to list all of those I ran across, but do know that my husband and I have seen most of them.

Milo's dear pal Grover also sponsored a kitty in his name through Best Friends Animal Society. I will send more details on that later and post a picture of the kitty he sponsored. Thanks, Grover! Both of Milo's Best East Coast Pals, Grover and Ripley, put up new pictures for him.

I do need to go to work today for awhile but will try to come home early. My husband is off again today and will keep an eye out of the rest of the kids, but so far they seem to be fine. Mercy was more talkative yesterday (seriously) and this morning I found Sofie curled up in the fleece lined cuddle bed in our bedroom that Milo liked to sleep in at night.

We are heartbroken but will get through this. Thank you all for being so loving to Milo and our family.

Love,
Janet

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness to write that we lost Milo this morning at approximately 7:45am Pacific Time. This past year, he was struggling with immune-mediated polyarthritis but always ate well. This is a disease that can be controlled but not reversed.

This morning, I watched Milo scratch the scratching post and then he walked over to eat. Then he went into the litter box. When I'm home, I always supervise his eating and litter box habits and saw nothing unusual. Everything looked normal. He went to sit on the stairs and I always get excited when I see him sitting up these days and even told my husband, who had a scheduled day-off today, so my husband cheered him on.

Milo went back to eat some more and I walked right pass him to empty out the litter boxes nearby and shortly after heard moaning. I turned around to see him on his side struggling to breathe while a few of the others were gathered around him wondering what was wrong. It appeared he was going into cardiac arrest. I yelled for my husband but within moments after he made it to the room, Milo took his final breath and was gone. He looked so peaceful. He was only 4 years old.

We spent some time with Milo wrapped in a favorite blanket and let everyone say their goodbyes, including the dogs. Riley licked his ears. My husband took Milo to be cremated and I called work to tell them I would not be in today. The vet cut some of Milo's fur for us and tied it with a sweet little blue bow.

Milo was always special and loving to all. He was always the first to meet newcomers to our family because of his nurturing nature. He would have been the same to any of your kitties upon meeting them the first time.

I can't believe I am making a memorial page for him and as you can imagine, had to pull myself together to even start it, as difficult as it is. Please understand if you do not hear from us right away while we go through this but know that we appreciate all of your support during this difficult time.

With love,
Janet, Milo & Family

I've been asked by several of my friends to please leave a health update in my diary once in awhile, so here it is. This is about my condition called Immune-mediated Polyarthritis, which is a joint disease. I am taking meds and the inflammation is now gone. Yay! But, it's a condition that unfortunately cannot be reversed, so I will need to take some form of medication for the rest of my life. I am really good about taking meds and don't fight.

Dr. Wong, my regular vet, and Dr. Strubel, my vet specialist, spoke with each other this week about me. Together they determined that there is no longer an immediate concern about my calcium level since I had a bladder stone removed last year. My vital signs are good other than the Polyarthritis. Because of this, we get to try a new food with antioxidants, so Mom bought a bag today to see how we all like it. No brand name will be mentioned in my diary as brand names seem to cause so much controversy these days.

Having this condition is a bummer, especially at my young age, but Mom and Dad are strong for me. I purr, purr, purr, purr, give kisses, and my brothers and sisters take turns snuggling with me. Sometimes when I lay down for too long, Mom gently makes me stand up for exercise and scoots me over to the food bowl. I have no problems using the litter box or jumping up on the couch or cat tree; I just do it slower than the rest of the kitties here. I also don't have a problem eating and I even complain when I'm hungry!

Oh, when Mom spoke with Dr. Strubel this week about other ways to make me more comfortable, one of the things they discussed was acupuncture, but I'm not sure I want to look like a porcupine! I think I'd rather look like a Cowboy for now.

Love,
Milo

P.S. How could I forget to mention this. The blanket behind my Cowboy photos was crocheted by Auntie Sue, one of my Mom's sisters. Auntie Sue is recovering from major surgery and as soon as she gets home I'm going to have to show her my pictures.

You mean I am only worth $2500 reward????
Mom says more like $25 trillion!!!

Maybe I am just worth more to her, you think?

Well, you will have to try to catch me if you can. All you will see of me is my Fluffy tail making a getaway!!

Well, I am off to the saloon to get me a sarsaparilla.

Thanks for honoring me on your page, pardner!!

Very late last night, Mercy and I were sending out some "thank you" pawmails and when we got to the pages of VANESSA and TOFFY, we read their diaries. We noticed that Vanessa had written a diary entry on July 30th about a rosette she received from LEMUR. She wrote that "Getting a rosette from Lemur was like getting a rosette from ________". She was offering a special prize to the first kit to guess the name she was thinking of. We weren't really going for any prize, but it only took seconds for us to tell her we thought the answer was BRAD PITT.

Just as we were getting ready to go to bed, we received a notification that we received a Catster gift of Zealies and that they were from Vanessa! So, we went back to her page and read her new diary entry that announced that we won her contest. Too funny! Mom was giggling her head off and almost thought she wasn't going to be able to go to sleep after that.

Thanks, Vanessa!

I just love my new Catster cake with three candles, they look cozy together! I wonder what will happen when they start running out of room for more candles? Will the cake get bigger or will there be additional cakes? We'd all have to hang around for awhile to find out!

Thank you to my friends who sent me Stars and Rosettes to honor my 3rd Catster Anniversary! All of my friends are special, but I do have to mention a very cute lil' doggie pal of ours named LUCKY, who, in her words, is obsessed with our family. She always comes over to Catster to visit with us and I bet she'd even come live with us if her mommy would let her!

Like Mercy, I will be sending personal pawmails to thank each of you, but in the meantime, have some cake!

First, I want to say that I'm glad my younger brother Riley is having a good time celebrating his 3rd Birthday. He's really a good kid and brother!

Mercy and I also have something to celebrate on Monday, August 6th--our 3rd Catster Anniversary!!!! You may have some kitty friends who joined in August of 2004 like we did, but you may not know many who joined on August **6TH**, the first day that Catster went public, AND who are still active on the site.

We asked and received confirmation from our contact at HQs that they definitely have 3-candle cakes and that it would show up on our "create" date or maybe the next day, though we may have to give ourselves a treat to refresh our pages. Treat? Sure, we can do that!!

Thank you to HQs and our wonderful friends for making the site so fun for us! We're looking forward to another fun-filled year!

Don't forget to come by for CAKE!!

I'm back from spending an entire day with Dr. Strubel for a joint tap and x-rays. First thing I did was eat because I was starving! She said I was a good cat today. I bet she says that to every cat! Maybe because I didn't leave her a present like I did last time. She didn't know that I had already left the present for Mom in the carrier on the way there!

The news is good even though the full results from the joint tap won't be back for a few days. My x-rays do not show significant inflammation like they did last time. Yeah!!! I had been taking 1 prednisone tablet a day and Vibramycin twice a day since the first time I was there. Now I can alternate between 1 prednisone tablet a day and 1/2 a tablet the next and still continue the Vibramycin. Then we will call Dr. Strubel to give her an update on my progress in a couple of weeks and we'll try to decrease the prednisone to 1/2 tablet a day. Mom is going to have to go and buy one of those pill dispensers with days of the week on them to keep it straight! Dr. Strubel also said I definitely look more comfortable when walking around and that I've gained almost a pound! I have to go back in a month for another recheck. Uggh!

I am stuck HERE again in the Campbell location for another joint tap so we can see if there's been improvement with the inflammation in my joints and to have x-rays taken again. I do NOT like it here, so I am on the phone complaining to Mom and having her write this diary entry before they put me down for a nap.

Having a joint tap performed on me means I couldn't eat past midnight last night so I am starving. I was standing in front of the food bowl this morning and next thing you know I was being carried off into the little jail cell and put in the car. As usual, I complained during the entire ride and instead of leaving the vet a present like I did last time, I decided to leave it for my Mom in the car! The car is being aired out all day now. *snickers*

I have been acting like I feel better as far as my joints go, but I could stand to gain a pound or two. Got any extra weight you wanna give to me? I just hope there really has been improvement so that I don't have to make these trips regularly.

Mom, you better be here to pick me up as soon as they're finished with me!

That's what I'm going to say to Dr. Strubel, the vet specialist, when I go to see her again on Friday, July 27th. Then I'm going to leave her a nice present on the exam table like I did last time! Apparently, she wants to do a joint tap again to make sure the inflammation in my joints is gone. I think most of it is gone because I have been walking around alot more, but I guess I have to go through this to make her happy and make my parents happy. I've been so good about taking my pills and Vibramycin but I have a feeling I'll have to continue taking them for a very long time irregardless, but hopefully at a smaller dosage. Mom will be taking the day off so she can pick me up as soon as she can because of how much this stresses me out!

Stay tuned...

I have now received all of the results from the recent joint tap I had done. The good news is that the results came out completely negative for anything other than the inflammation in my joints, so I will still need to continue taking the anti-inflammatory meds for awhile. I have to say that the meds have made me feel soooo much better. I've been getting up more, sitting up more, and eating more. This makes my parents very happy. I know that means I'm going to have to get on that scale very soon for a weight-check.

I'll be going back to see the specialist in a few weeks to make sure all the inflammation is gone. I dread that visit, but have a little while to try not to think about it!

This past Monday, Mom took me to a special place referred by our vet to find out why I've been struggling a bit when I walk and why I cry when I'm being carried, especially since I've always loved to be carried in the past. I think most of my friends know how I hate getting in the car and being in the carrier but I had to go.

The place I went to was Veterinary Surgical Associates (VSA) in Campbell, CA. If you go to this site and click on the Campbell location where there is a picture of the reception area, you will understand how my Mom felt as soon as she walked through their doors! My appointment was with Dr. Strubel, who specializes in internal medicine, but they also have orthopedic surgeons which is good so that they can confer with each other as necessary. The first thing my Mom noticed when we walked into the exam room was the flat-screen computer monitor attached to the wall. She had not seen that before in any of the vet offices or animal hospitals that she's ever been to.

Dr. Strubel seemed really nice even though I was crying and trying to find a place to hide, but I was cooperative and nice. She had all of my medical records and talked to Mom about what's been going on with me. Then they did a full exam, plus a body x-ray and numerous tests. My blood and urine levels are normal as well as my bladder, liver, and kidneys. However, we looked at my x-rays on the computer monitor and they showed that I have an immune-mediated erosive joint disease in my wrists and hocks and it has been eating away my bones in those areas. I'm not contagious, there's no concern that I have cancer, and even if I can't be cured, the right combination of meds can help control the disease and make me feel more comfortable. But I wasn't given any meds after this visit because they recommended that I go back on Thursday for a joint tap before they prescribe anything. I sure was glad to go home and a few of my brothers and sisters must have missed me because I got alot of head licks from them.

Thursday came too soon. More crying by me and I was starving. I had to be asleep for the joint tap so I couldn't eat that morning. Mom took the day off and we arrived a half hour early because she wanted to try to calm me down before they did the procedure. When she mentioned that to the receptionist, she asked if we wanted to go in the "quiet room". Sure! It was a nicely decorated room with upholstered furniture and magazines. I got to come out of the carrier and just layed down next to Mom for awhile but then I had to be taken away. It was a long day but Dr. Strubel said I did really well. I was really wired after the procedure and very vocal. I just wanted to go home. This time, I was sent home with anti-inflammatory meds and antibiotics. Once again, as soon as I got home, I was welcomed and given lots of licks by my brothers and sisters. Then I ate because I was starving.

On Friday, Dr. Strubel called with preliminary results that showed I don't have bacteria in my joints but I definitely have inflammation. We will get the rest of the results on the culture early next week so that they can ensure that I get all the meds I need. Then I will feel better and then should eat more because I'll want to get up more. What I am taking now is fine and actually, I've been going up and down the stairs more the last couple of days to go back and forth to my favorite napping spots.

I will be okay. I may have more arthritis issues as I get older, but we'll deal with those when the time comes.

Love,
Milo

Enzo and Melody went to their second vet appointment today and they are just fine. While there, Mom talked to Dr. Wong about me, as I seem to get up from a lying position with some hesitation. I jump up the cat tree and go up and down the stairs, but at a slower pace than usual.
I just had my blood and urine tested again (and sent out for a culture) and I am normal! That is good news. I am completely off prednisone and have been for awhile now. I am eating good but that has never been a problem for me. Hopefully I can gain another pound eventually.

I have not seen The Furbies (rescued kittens at our house) since they've been here. I hear them in the downstairs bathroom though. Mom usually lets me meet all the newbies, but they are very young and she doesn't want to take any chances on anything that could affect my health as I am a very nurturing cat. However, two more of them will be going to their forever homes tomorrow, and that will leave two that will eventually be relocated into the guest bedroom. When the time is right, I'll be the first to welcome them!

It's been awhile since I posted my weight because Mom thought that it was stable with no big changes, but then when she weighed me yesterday, we discovered that I've hit 10lbs! She weighed me a couple more times just to make sure and though the ounces fluctuated a bit because I was moving around, it's safe to say I'm at least 10lbs! It may take awhile, but we're aiming for another pound or two, and can't take this good news for granted. The important thing is that I'm not losing alot of weight and that I keep my calcium level under control. We're eating canned California Natural now along with our dry food and we're lovin' it!

Here are my stats:

April 14th: 10.17lbs
March 11th: 9.87lbs
March 4th: 9.47lbs
February 18th: 9.84lbs
February 10th: 9.90lbs
February 4th: 9.53lbs
January 26th: 9.05lbs
January 21st: 8.94lbs
December 27th: 8.40lbs (day of surgery)

Well, Darwin doesn't have to worry because his package arrived!! There were furry mousies, a fabric mouse, a furry lion that reminded him of me, and cat milk! Mom couldn't wait to show me so that she could take a picture for my page.

Thanks, Darwin, you're a great pal!

My birthday was April 1st but I'm still receiving packages in the mail. I'm not complaining! Thank you Grover and Dexter and Klemy Q-Tip!!! I think we're going to need an additional toy box but for now we're storing most of our toys all over the floor where they can be easily found. It's taking us a little while to take pictures of me with my goodies because mom and I can't seem to synchronize our schedules. Usually when she's ready I'm napping. Oh, and I was just informed today that I have another package coming my way, so I'll wait patiently for the delivery man.

On a side note, I haven't talked about my weight very much because I've been stable, but mom wants me to gain one or two more pounds for some reason. I have no problems with eating. The dreaded vet wants me to go in to have my bloodwork done again and I'm trying to talk mom out of it.

While the girls are busy being Babes in Blue, I'm getting ready for my 4th birthday on April 1st, along with my dog brother Cosmo, who will celebrate his 10th birthday! How did that happen? Mom just happened to pick that date for both of us and never thought much about it being April Fool's Day, let alone celebrate our birthdays on Catster and Dogster. As long as she's not calling either of us "fools" we're okay with it!

Mom didn't weigh me today...maybe tomorrow. She didn't feel like bugging me today cuz' I was happy laying in the bed on the dining table (yes, on the dining table) with the big window open in front of me, enjoying the sunshine and gentle breeze. I even got to eat some Fancy Feast while there and even a little bit of steak! I eat on my own, but I seem to eat even more when mom delivers the food right to me. But, by the time she thought about weighing me later in the day, I had gone upstairs.

Have a great week everyone!

She blushed and noted that she realized she was an older kitty but that she thought I was so very handsome and would really like for me to be her Valentine. I think Max is a sexy senior admirer, but I had to explain to her that I am just too busy these days trying to gain weight!

Max's bio states, along with other fine qualities, that "...all she's ever wanted from life is food, sleep, sunshine, and alot of love!" My type of gal. She's a sweetheart, but even if we weren't Valentines, she knows I love her in my own special way.

Mom and Dad came home with a box last night that was about two-feet long and three-inches deep. I was on the couch a few feet away and watched Dad take it out of the box, flip it over and put some batteries in it. Was this a new cat bed or a big toy? Dad flipped the "thing" over and Mom came to pick me up and put me on it. I whined a bit, then decided to lay down on the hard surface which was nothing at all like the other cat beds we have. Then I watched Mom push the "button" and these digital numbers appeared.

Have you guessed what it was??? An infant scale!!! Yep, a digital infant scale with a memory chip from Babies "R" Us, to weigh me. I can be weighed the other way where Mom can weigh herself then carry me and weigh us together, etc., but she felt this would be easier, more precise, and a good investment for all of us kitties. Last December when I had surgery to remove a bladder stone, I weighed 8.4lbs, which was nearly half of my normal weight. Mom and Dad were so happy to see that I now weigh 8.94lbs, to be exact. Even though I still have a ways to go, at least I'm not losing anymore weight.

My kitty brothers and sisters are all going to get weighed next! Don't be suprised if their weights suddenly change on their pages.

Love,
Milo

That's how I discovered he had his first date with Rocky Ann today! We've exchanged a couple of pawmails since but I haven't gotten all the details yet. But, it must have been a *really* good date cuz' they are now an item and have these new songs on their pages. Well, that just put me in a really good mood, so instead of writing about my progress after my bladder stone surgery, I decided to refresh my page and have some fun with a different background too.

Congratulations to Ripley and Rocky Ann for finding each other!

I went to see Dr. Wong today. I haven't gained any weight since my surgery last week but she said I was stable. My incision healed nicely and when she went to remove my pain patch, she noted that there were teeth marks on it. Hmmm..wonder who did that? Mom told her Joy helped, which was true.

I'm starting on prednisone today to help lower my calcium and to boost my appetite so I can gain some weight back. The pills are small so Mom is making sure she puts a little bit of canned food around it and placing it deep in my mouth.

The best news, as far as I'm concerned, is that I don't have to see Dr. Wong again for a month, at which time I'll have bloodwork done again. Hopefully, nothing goes wrong before then.

That's all for now!

Since I posted my last diary entry about a couple of funny pawmails I received from my friend Toffy, I received a couple of pawmails commenting on Toffy's and his sister Vanessa's observations that I wanted to share with you. Just look at what you started, Toffy! *laughing*

From Madison:

Mom says she sees a cat face in your stone. You could put it on Ebay. Who knows, someone might offer some big bucks for it. Have you ever seen stuff they have for auction under the "weird" category? People actually bid on it. We saw a hotdog from Super Bowl being auctioned for thousands. Also, a grilled cheese sandwich that had a face of the Virgin Mary! Crazy!

From Sydney:

...BTW we did look at the picture of your stone and we see the same orange kit as your friend said. MOL. Well I am glad I met you. You are, how should I say this... just beautifool. Not many guys are you know? But you are in a kind of Brad Pitt way.

P.S. It really is true or maybe it's the power of suggestion but mom almost snorted coffee thru her nose when she saw the pic of your stone. Yep! An orangie cat face! MOL. Meant to also tell you that the mention of the cat diety was spot-on as far as mom is concerned...so funny! MOL

========================================================

Many of our friends have written to say that they thought the bladder stone that I had removed was huge. All I know is I sure didn't need it in my body. I've been eating very well and will be seeing Dr. Wong tomorrow for a check-up. Mom and Dad both think I look alot better but we'll see what Dr. Wong has to say.

Cheers,

Hi Milo,

Happy New Year to you and your family!

I'm so glad that your surgery went well. I saw the photo of your bladder stone. You know, if you look at it carefully it looks like there's the face of an orange cat in it? Do you see it too or is it just my imagination?

Wishing you a full and complete recovery soon!

Tuesday, January 2nd:

Hi Milo,

Further to my message of last night about your bladder stone, yep I definitely see the face of an orange cat.

Vanessa chimes in: I definitely see a face too, but it isn't any ordinary cat's face, it is the face of a feline deity, kind of like one of these: click here.

Toffy: Hmmm.... what a miraculous discovery this is, Milo! Cats from all over the world will want to see the image. MOL! Just having some fun! I hope you're doing good today.

Purrs,
Toffy

Thanks, Toffy and Vanessa, I needed that!

Alright, due to popular demand, I've posted a picture of the bladder stone that I had removed yesterday. Eeek! Since not everyone would be interested in seeing such a thing, I added it to the last page of my photo book. Dr. Wong said it moved around, so it really was a "rolling" stone. At about a quarter of an inch, she also said it wasn't really considered large, especially since she's removed one in the past that was the size of an egg. Imagine that!

By-the-way, I am doing just fine on day two.

My day started off with being hungry but I couldn't eat since 9:00pm last night because I was going to have a bladder stone removed today by our vet, Dr. Wong.

Dad dropped me off at 7:00am this morning and I had an x-ray done first to make sure I had not passed the bladder stone. I hadn't, so it was removed and Dr. Wong called home by mid-afternoon to say I was doing fine. But since I was getting special fluids, she didn't want me to go home until around 6:00pm tonight. Mom and Dad came to get me and as promised, Dr. Wong showed the stone to them and gave them a picture of it. It wasn't imbedded in my bladder so I guess you can say it was a "rolling stone". It's going to be sent out to a lab for further examination. After a lengthy discussion about my surgery and preventive care, I got to go home in the dreaded carrier with a soft e-collar around my head and a pain patch on my hind leg.

First thing I did at home was walk around and around the house sniffing everything. I guess I wanted to make sure I wasn't dreaming and that I was really home, or maybe something smelled different...me! I ate and then used the litter box. I got my face washed by Sofie, then Riley. After about two hours of walking around purring and giving headbutts, I am ready to settle down and relax, though I heard I have to get some antibiotics later.

We have to work on lowering my calcium level to prevent future stones from popping up, so we're all eating watered-down, dry Royal Canin SO and also the same in canned form. I'm still going to get the pumpkin that I have grown to love so I'm happy about that. I go for a recheck next week and hopefully I will start gaining the weight back that I've lost. It could be better but it could have also been worse.

More updates later.

Love,
Stoneless Milo

I've been in and out of our yucky vet's office for a couple of months now. I've had an abdominal ultrasound done, x-rays, bloodwork, and urine tests. Our vet also looked closely at my teeth and gums. The results so far are that I have one bladder stone the size of about half of a human pinky fingernail, and my calcium level is a bit high.

On Wednesday, December 27th, I'll be undergoing surgery to have the bladder stone removed. Mom jokingly asked our vet if she could bring the stone home as a souvenir but it's going to be sent out to a lab to have it's make-up examined. But, our vet promised to show the bladder stone to my Mom and take a picture of it before she sends it off. We just switched our dry food to Royal Canin Urinary SO and we all love it. No picky eaters here!

The good news is that through all of this I am eating and drinking normally and have been enjoying watered-down food and my new favorite--pumpkin, along with green bean juice. The bad news that horrifies my Mom is that I only weigh 8lbs, so we really need to monitor and fix this. But, I purr, purr, purr, and purr, and continue my grooming duties on myself and my siblings.

I'll post an update after my surgery.

Love,
Milo

I wanted to tell you about a conversation that my Mom had with Caitlyn, her four-year old niece, on Thanksgiving day. Caitlyn is a very affectionate little girl who lives with her mom and dad, two young brothers, and a senior dog named Harley. She loves kitties and I've always been her favorite.

Mom sits down on the couch at Caitlyn's house and Caitlyn comes right up to her, crawls onto her lap, and positions my Mom's arms around her exactly how she would like them. She holds my Mom's face between her tiny palms and gives her a kiss. Now the conversation begins:

Caitlyn: Can you buy me a kitty?
Mom: Well, I would love to buy you a kitty, but we'd have to check with your mom and dad first. You have to take care of kitties, like buy them food, a litter box, and take them to see the doctor when they're sick.
Caitlyn: A litter box?
Mom: It's where they go potty.
Caitlyn: Next time you come here can you bring Milo?
Mom: Milo wouldn't like the long drive to your house.
Caitlyn: Can you put Milo in a box and send him to me?
Mom: No, sorry, I wouldn't want to give any of my kids away just like your parents wouldn't want to give you away.
Caitlyn: I like Milo, can you send me his picture?
Mom: Okay, I'll send you his picture, but you can always look at him on his Catster page, too.
Caitlyn: Can you buy me a kitty?
Mom: I don't think Harley (the dog) would like it.
Caitlyn: If I wake up and Harley goes to heaven can you buy me a kitty?
Mom: You need to be nice to Harley because he's old now. We'll talk to your parents when the time is right.
Caitlyn: Okay. Don't forget to send me a picture of Milo.

Little kids. They can be really cute and blunt. I'm glad my Mom won't be sending me anywhere in a box but I'd be glad to help her find a couple of kitties to give to Caitlyn.

Purrs,
Milo

P.S. I am eating pumpkin with my food. Seems I am having a bit of difficulty doing you-know-what.

Since Mom took me off the weight-control food I had been eating, my fur looks better. I haven't gained a pound yet but my vet suggested that I be weighed every month. Mom is still not quite convinced that everything is okay with me, but she's giving it a little time. You know how moms are, they sense when something isn't quite right with us.

It's confusing sometimes. We were told once by my vet I needed to lose a couple of pounds and now I need to gain some pounds. But, I haven't been picky with my food and I eat it along with that yummy boiled chicken breast that Mom makes for us.

The best part of all this fuss over me is that Mom has been bringing me to bed with her every night. I stay wherever she puts me and then I purr, purr, purrrrrr away to dreamland.

I finally let my Mom catch me leaving a "present" so she could take it to the vet's office for examination. She was happy because she really didn't want to confine me to a room in order to get it if she didn't have to. Anyway, the vet's office called and left a phone message saying the results came back negative for any intestinal parasites, but Mom is waiting to speak directly with our vet to discuss what we should do next, if anything.

As for the "wet cat" picture I mentioned in my last diary entry, no such luck. The most I got was a damp towel washing. But knowing my Mom, none of us will escape having our pictures taken for the upcoming holidays.

Thanks to all of my friends for your concern. Let's keep praying for all of the other kitties here that need it.

My blood and urine results came back and they are normal. That's good news for sure. But, I need to bring a sample of the presents I leave in the litter box to have them checked out. That will be a challenge since we have automated litter boxes, but with eight kitties the automated litter boxes work the best for us, or maybe for my mom. But, I have an idea, since I like to go in the yard and make a litter box out of the raised flower bed. I'll try to leave a sample there when mom's watching.

So, hopefully, I just caught some sort of bug, and mom's going to try to fatten me up a bit and keep an eye out on me. I didn't tell anyone before, but I weighed in at only 10 pounds. Mom also thinks my fur has been looking kinda ratty lately and that I probably need a bath from that digging and covering I do in the yard. Aha! Maybe I'll have a "wet cat" picture to enter in the World's Coolest Dog and Cat show afterall! That'll be a first.

While this is good news for me, I won't be forgetting the many kitties here that need my prayers.

I got a pre-Halloween scare when my Mom took me to see the vet today for a 10:00am appointment. I did my usual screaming in the car and in the waiting room.

The reason I was there was because Mom and Dad are concerned that I have been losing weight, even though I eat regularly. I don't have any problems with climbing the cat trees or jumping up on the couch, and I use the litter box with no pain. The vet carefully examined me and could not feel anything unusual. My temperature is also normal. All I wanted to do was run behind Mom and hide. So, they finally decided I would have my blood and urine analyzed. The problem was that my bladder wasn't full enough so I had to be left there. They thought I'd be ready to be picked up by 2:00pm but by then my bladder still wasn't full enough, so I ended up staying there until 5:00pm!

Even though Mom felt like she was the bad person today, I didn't hold any grudges. Dad was waiting at home to be the nice guy who would take me out of the carrier and bring me in the house. First thing I did was eat and then went to my Mom to cuddle and purr with her while my brothers and sisters kept sniffing me.

What a scare! Even my wizard powers couldn't help me today but I'll keep working on them. I'll update my diary as soon as I get the results from the tests.

Fluffy love,
Milo

Oh, I bet you thought I was going to write about the birds and bees or flowers and bugs in the garden or something. But, it's about my new kitty cousins, Bee and Flower! I have a picture of them on my page. Aren't they sweet?

Mom had been taking care of them for the past week while their parents were on vacation in Jamaica. She stopped by to spend time with them at least twice a day. As soon as she'd walk in the house, they would walk together between her legs and nearly tripped her a few times. Mom could tell they liked to party too because she'd often find all kinds of things on the floor. They're extremely friendly and affectionate and followed Mom around to make sure she filled the food bowls right, gave them fresh water, cleaned the litter box, opened the patio door so they could get some fresh air through the screen, and sat down to watch interesting programs on TV.

Luckily for Bee's and Flower's parents, we have a full house, otherwise she would have cat-napped them! But, since when did a full house ever stop my Mom from bringing more kitties home?

When you have dogs in the family, sometimes they do naughty things like dig holes in the yard for fun. However, I find them useful as they dug a hole in one of the raised flower beds and made a nice "litter box" which I like to visit when I'm outside in the yard. My Mom is not pleased with this for several reasons, one being that the dogs think they've been left some kitty "candy".

I've tried to tell Mom many times that it wasn't me, but she took some pictures and put one of them on the second page of my photo book as evidence. This is one reason why not to wear white--you're guaranteed to get caught!

My Dad is special to me because:

1. Out of all the cute kittens at the shelter, he told my Mom they should pick me. I was crying because I was all alone in the cage since my siblings and mama had been adopted. I also had a cold, but that didn't stop them from adopting me.
2. When I walk up to my Dad and meow loudly, he knows I want him to go check our food bowls. Even though we both know they aren't empty, he'll get up and say to me, "Okay, I'm comin', let's go see!", and I race him up the stairs. It works every time.
3. I treat my Dad the same way I do my Mom when he carries me. I shift my body so that I'm in a cradled position where I can see his face so I can give him a few licks.
4. Dad never complains about the cat hair in the house, especially mine!
5. He calls me "My-yo".
6. Dad likes to tell Mom that we have more furniture, beds, and toys in the house than they do, but doesn't complain when she buys more.

I love my Dad!

Mom noticed I had been favoring my front left paw and was limping so she and Dad took me to see the vet today. I made sure I screamed all the way there and in the waiting room to let everyone know I was not happy. My temperature was taken, my limbs were squeezed and stretched, but all I did was purr. When I was put down on the floor to walk, I crouched down and went to find a place to hide, though they could see my limp. Finally, x-rays were taken and nothing looked abnormal.

After some discussions between Mom, Dad, and the vet, they decided to do nothing for now except to keep an eye out on me. I proceeded to scream all the way home until I got in the house. Not only that, I decided to walk on all fours like normal! Mom thinks now that maybe I hurt myself playing and that I had forgotten that I could walk normally. Ha! I sure wish I had remembered *before* going to see the vet, but I think this is all going to get me some regular kitty massages, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Dear Diary,

While I do enjoy warm weather, we have been getting some rain and I like it. Why? Because even when it rains, I still like to hang out in the garden, and my fur is almost water-repellent. We're always supervised out there, even though we have the Cat Fence-in containment system. But the main reason why I like the rain is because I like to stay under the patio table and lick the rainwater off of the furniture, which my Mom really doesn't like to see me do. There's just something very tasty about rainwater and I can't help myself! I tell Mom it's a "fluffy kitty" thing, since I'm the only one in the family who does this, but she doesn't buy into that.

I'll miss the rain when it leaves, but at the same time, it's also alot of fun to play in the garden during warm weather. There's grass to chew, bugs to chase, and shrubs to hide in. It's also fun to watch Mom try to corral us all back into the house. Some of us are more cooperative than others.

Time to call it a night!

Purrs,

I am going to be three years young on Saturday, April 1st, and Cosmo, my dog brother, is going to be nine years young! Oh, I know it's also April Fool's Day, so I'm wondering if any pranks are being plotted against us. Everyone is looking a little suspicious around here. We've got a big party planned at our house with our dog and cat friends together! Imagine that.

Celebrating a birthday is a celebration of life. We have a retractable patio awning which is currently in it's closed position, and just like last year, a mama bird has just started building a nest under it. I've been spending hours on end at the kitchen window, watching this hard-working mother. She's got a beautiful voice and we've been singing back and forth to each other. I hope I'll be able to see the babies or at least be there the first time they fly away from the nest.

Everytime we look at the slideshow on my Catster page of me as a kitten, it brings back alot of happy memories. I definitely plan to continue to add to those memories for many more years to come.

Fluffy love,

Dear Diary,

I invented a simple new game called "Bonk the Glass". Since I play it by myself you can say it's a solitaire game. All you need to play this game is a glass-top table and it works best if you have some sort of ID tag. The heavier tags or multiple tags are the most effective and get you the most attention.

The first thing I do is jump up on the glass-top coffee table. You can stand or sit but I prefer to sit. I look down and admire the reflection I see in the glass, and for some reason the image I always see looks just like me!! It is just so amazing that I have to take a closer look and "bonk" the glass with my face and my tag. After the first couple of bonks I usually have a captive audience consisting of kitties, doggies, and humans. So, in between each "bonk" I lick myself a few times to look cool for my audience. I usually do this for about a minute straight, bonking and grooming, bonking and grooming, and would say I can do about 20 bonks and 60 licks a minute!

The best part of this game is that I always win, since I'm the only one in the family who knows how to play. Now, if only I can get a treat for every bonk.......

Dear Diary,

We've had new neighbors across the street for a little while now and they have three outdoor cats. They're a good looking trio, too! We've been taking turns watching them from the windows as they strut around and sprawl out on sidewalks. They even lie in the middle of the street sometimes, though they seem to know they should move when they see or hear a car coming. Good thing we don't get alot of traffic. Sometimes when mom is out front gardening or talking with a neighbor, they go up to her for some attention and she gives it to them, of course. We've noticed that their owners leave food outside for them and they have regular food parties with other strange cats, but we haven't been invited yet.

I had my annual physical the other day and the vet said I've gained a half pound since last year and that I need to go on a diet because of my young age. I already eat low-cal food and now they want to manage my portions! Let me tell you, I screamed all the way to the vet's office, during my exam, and all the way home! There was another cat in the waiting room who screamed like me so we had an opera thing going.

Well, I'd sure like to know if my new neighbors have to eat low-cal food, so I think it's time to pull out the recipe book and bake them a catnip pie and introduce myself. Something tells me I'll be screaming more after I find out what they're eating!

Meows,

Dear Diary,

Well, what can I say? The last time I wrote in my diary I talked about five of us, but now there are seven, with the addition of Reebok and Nike! I must say it was quite a surprise to all of us, but we have to admit they are very cute and sweet. They've already discovered they can come to me for kitty kisses and that I'll help them clean the spots they can't reach themselves. Mom and dad haven't had kittens this young join the family since they got me, and definitely not two at the same time! Together we will defend our home, love each other, and bring smiles to our mom and dad!

It's time for me to go teach them how to write their first diary entries so I'll say goodbye until next time!

Food and more food,

Dear Diary,

I do hope my feline friends and their humans had a wonderful Easter! Lucky me, I got to wear the bunny ears this year, but so did my dog brothers! As soon as mom finished taking my photo, I went hip-hoppin' away!!!

Well, with the addition of my new baby sister Pebbles, there are now five of us! She doesn't require my grooming skills much, but every now and then she brushes by and catches a couple of good licks from me. I was sort of hoping for a long-haired beauty so we'd have something to talk about, but at least she has my colors. My guess is that mom and dad prefers that I stand out from the rest......yeah, that must be it.

You should hear my mom and dad now just before they leave the house. They want to know where each of us are so they practice counting. If they just shook the food container or said the word "chicken" we'd all come running and they could save themselves a few steps! I need to work on my training methods!!

Is five a crowd? Nah, not really. There's hardly a noticeable difference as everyone is still making happy sounds around the house and sleepy soundly. Besides, it also means more toys, more treats, and more food for me to steal!!

Furry head butts,

Dear Diary,

Mom and dad must think I'm not busy enough because they brought a kitten named Riley home for me to take care of. Now I have to groom him too! They need to increase my food with all the overtime I'm putting in.

Sometimes I pin Sofie and Riley for no particular reason and scold them. You know how the young ones are--you have to train them early so they don't grow up to be unruly! Mercy still tries to act like I need to be trained sometimes when she takes a flying leap and pounces on me out of nowhere--she is such a tomboy! People think she's a boy and I'm a girl---maybe I should get a haircut.

The truth is, I love my sisters and brother, and they all know it. They come to me when they need someone to cuddle with and I always throw in a few licks.

I guess I better go now....my catnip break is over with.

Dear Diary,

We have a new baby sister named Sofie! When I first saw her a month ago, she was laying in her pink girlie bed. I sensed that maybe she was a little bit nervous so, staying true to my character, I showered her with kisses to let her know that everything was going to be okay. All I heard from my mom was "Awwwwwwww!!!" After that, mom gave me a big hug, lots of kisses, told me I was such a sweet boy, and then bragged about me to my dad!

Sofie shared her upper respiratory infection with us and got mom and dad worried, so we all had to go see our vet to make sure it wasn't something else. It wasn't, and the good docotor said we would all be fine in a matter of time. We got the royal treatment at home afterwards when mom and dad put us in their bathroom and created a sauna environment to help us breathe better. We are all feeling great now but there sure was alot of sneezing going on for awhile!!! Aaaaaahchoo!! Aaaaaaahchoo!! My cute little nose turned red.

I know it sounds like all I do is eat, but I do run around and play! Really! Just today, I was wrestling with Mercy, chasing the light from the laser pen, chasing Sofie up the cat tree, and diving under the rug! Plus, I have to groom everyone so that takes up alot of my time, you know. Mom just thinks I usually end up looking like one big white blob when she takes photos of me playing. Whatever!

Well, that's all I have to write about tonight. I have to get back to giving love to everybody in the house and then take another nap, but not before I grab a snack.

Hugs and kisses,

Dear Diary,

This morning when we went outside there was alot of morning dew on that temporary plastic fencing they put up around the new grass, so I had a good time licking and licking some of it.

During the day, Mercy likes to hog the tall cat tree so sometimes I try to sneak up there but when I do, she climbs on the very top and bats at me. She never hisses at me because she really loves me, but she knows I'll get off! Then, I usually retreat to the cat condo in the den. When I was little, I use to hang onto Mercy's neck while playing and she use to throw me down, but now that I weigh more than her, we pretty much take turns playing "bottom" cat. If it weren't for her I'd probably not get much exercise, but it doesn't take much of a workout to make me hungry!

I don't sleep on mom and dad's bed at night like Mercy does, but it doesn't mean I'm not a mushy boy! I guess it's Mercy's nightime spot and I don't like any human legs accidentally kicking me, so I'm usually on the cat condo in their bedroom or on the chaise with "my" special blankie.

Everyone is winding down now for the night so I guess I will too.

Until next time...Milo

Dear Diary,

We did get to go out to the backyard before it got dark last night as well as several times today. They have this weird temporary fencing up around the grass area right now mainly to keep the dogs off of it. I tried to stick my paws under it to see if I could push it aside but it was too secure. Oh well, I just made my way to other areas where there is bark and did my business--I'm not shy about those things! It's been extremely hot out here the past week or so, so I don't like to stay outside for very long and run back in the house so I can cool off! Dad was watching football today so all this loud noise was coming out of that big hole on his face. Other than running around the house with Mercy a few times today, napping, and eating, not much else to report.

Time to go to sleep now....Milo

Like the good cats we are, we said a prayer for those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. We also thought about their families and friends and our canine buddies who helped with the rescue and search efforts. Other than that, we've been stuck in the house all day since the landscaper was putting the new sod in, but I guess he's done now because I saw dad hand him a little piece of paper that he could have crumpled up and given to me instead! No more big outdoor litter box for me, so I guess I'll use the bark when I'm out there. Sigh. We're waiting to be let outside so we can check out the new digs so I have to go give a nudge and big meow to mom and dad.

Dear Diary,

Today we got wet food because Mercy was "Cat of the Day", and you know how I like to eat! But, honestly, I don't really care if I get it regularly or not because either way, they keep filling up my food bowl (or pretend to). Our backyard is being re-landscaped and since the grass won't be put in until tomorrow, the yard is one big litter box! Woohoo!! So, even though I have a nice litter box in the house, it's been fun using the new one! I must be a king because the dogs dig my holes and clean up after me. The neighbors really like it too because now even "they" know when I'm getting ready to go poop!
