As purr usual, we were getting kind of bored. So, Mom got out an old pair of her undies, one of those that she saves for rags. She cut a piece off. Rolled some catnip up in it. Tied it into a knot. Wet it down a bit and gave it to us. Boy oh boy did we even play with that thing!!! We took turns playing with it. Then we got so wired we had a few scraps. Then we went back to playing with it all day long. The next day, I managed to untie the knot and rubbed the cloth all over my face. The undies were washed, but I could still smell some of Mom's stink on it. And, I'm one of those cats that likes dirty underwear smells.
Mom wants to make it up again for us, but she thinks she should wait until we are acting all bored again. Plus, our catnip tub is empty. Time for a trip to the pet store!

I would like to thank all of our friends for making my bridge birthday extra special. It is so nice to be remembered after all of this time. I know Mom and Squirrel are still missing me a lot but I'm happy to see that they are healing. We tried to thank everyone purrsonally that sent us birthday messages and gifts. Please forgive us if we missed anyone as we had a big power failure (8 hours) in the middle of Mom trying to be a good secretary to us. Also, sadly, here at the bridge, we had to prepare for the beautiful Hazel Lucy.
Love,
Lucky

From Mom,
"Lucky, I still find it so difficult to think about how I lost you. It was the greatest shock of my life. I will always remember your gentle and timid ways and how I rejoiced when your spunky side came out.
 Love always,
 Mom"

Also Squirrel, who was not feeling well, got back to full health. Just in time to avoid a trip to the vet.

I have been having runny eyes for a week now. first both, now just one. Mom was worried because she knows that taking me to the vet would be impossible. Even if she tricked me into the cat carrier, the trip would stress me terribly and any after care, like pills or eye drops would be impossible. So, while she was at the vet clinic with the dogs, she asked the vet about me and my symptoms. He is pretty sure that I have feline herpes. We both had bad URI's when Mom found us. At that time we were little enough that we did go to the vet a few times up until we got spayed. Anyhow, she asked more about it and he said it was probably okay to just wait it out and that it will probably happen over and over again in my life. He said Squirrel must have developed a resistance to it since she hasn't had any more trouble since she was a baby.
Anyone know more about it? Mom always has trouble remembering everything the vet said. But she was relieved about what he said. And, of course, when she got home I already looked better!
The pups were doing okay but Tasha is definitely getting old. She may be having the start of a spinal degeneration problem that is common with German Shepherds. If she does have that problem, we will know in 6 months or so. If that is it, she won't be with us much longer. She got medicine. She is easy to give medicine to.

Mom noticed, that if she calls out to me, I don't come if I'm sleeping or suspicious about what she wants. But today, she noticed, that if she brings out the Pledge furniture polish I magically show up, no matter what.
Today, I was sound asleep and under heavy blankets when she just sprayed a little of it on a table and was positive that I wouldn't notice. Can't fool me! She had barely turned around when there I was on the table, rolling around on it. With a sleepy face, I might add as I was sound asleep when I caught on to what she was doing.
So then she thought, that if ever she really needed me to come, all she had to do was take out the Pledge.
With Squirrel, all Mom has to do is tap the picture window and call her name. She comes running to look outside to see usually a bird, or the neighbour's black cat. Squirrel will also usually come for treats when Mom shakes the Tender Vitals bag. I won't.

I finally got Mom to start a batch of kitty grass for me. I have been watching it very closely and it isn't growing. Mom tried to tell me that it won't grow if I watch it. Something about a pot and boiling. I don't understand. All I know is I want my kitty grass!!!!
I'm still flexing my bully muscles and chasing Squirrel around the house in the morning.

Last night I came to bed with Mom to get some attention while she reads. This is kind of getting to be normal. But I usually leave after about 20 minutes. What was different this time, is when she got up in the middle of the night to pee, I was still there! And later, when she woke up in the morning, I was still there! I spent the whole night right by her pillow. At that point, I went for breakfast and Squirrel came in to get her time with Mom before Mom actually got out of bed.
Mom is delighted to see that even now, 5 1/2 years later, I am still getting more tame. She says that she is sure that I will become a cuddly cat as I get older. Right now, if I am not napping, I always follow Mom to the bathroom and sit right on the counter while Mom does her business. I am right at eye level with her and she pets me. When she takes a bath, I sit on the toilet lid and keep her company. When she steps out onto the bath mat, I jump down and roll around at her feet and she pets me. I guess I am turning into a cuddle bunny.

Today, Mom picked me up and carried me all the way down to the basement and put me out into the cat run. I was tense, but I did not panic! Up until now, she has only been able to pick me up for a short while before I start to struggle. At that point, she always gently puts me down. So Mom was very pleased with me. And nothing bad happened to me! It was kind of fun to go down those stairs from way up high in Mom's arms. She has to hold me kind of away from her. If she tries to hold me close, I get nervous.
‘Twas the night after Easter
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Except for a MOUSE!

Yep, we did it again! Brought Mommy a mouse. It was a small one, but it was slippery. We worked hard for a long time while Mom slept. When we were ready to let her play with it, we knocked over a big metal, folded up camp cot. That made a big boom. So, Mom got up to see what was going on and saw us run out of the spare bedroom. She went in and saw what we had knocked over and said, “Well at least you guys are alright!†Then she went to the bathroom. She didn’t even see the mouse we worked so hard to bring her. So, we brought it into her bedroom for her. When she came back to bed she was about to shut off the light when she saw us both looking at something in her closet. She came to see what was going on and finally spotted our mouse! She put on shoes, went and got a little mouse sized box and came to play mouse with us. The little mouse went behind all kinds of junk, so Mom was busy moving stuff out of the way, including us. Mom put down the box and expected she would have to find a way to guide the mouse into it, but the mouse was smart and went right in by itself. Then Mom went outside in her nightgown and released the mouse in the yard. At 4am, she didn’t think the neighbors would see her, plus it was dark outside. Then she came back in and gave us some Fancy Feast. She tried to go back to sleep but we were too excited and wouldn’t let her. So, she got up and gave us more Fancy Feast at 7:30am.

I just had a bit of an accident! Mom was in the livingroom and on the computer. Squirrel was there too, watching birds out the window. Mom thought I was sleeping, but ....
All of a sudden Mom and Squirrel heard a big noise from the bedroom. They came to see as I slinked out of there. I had jumped at the lace on the edge of the window shutter, got hooked, pulled down the shutter, took a bunch of stuff with me as I fell to the floor in an awkward way. Mom says it didn't sound like I landed on all four paws.
Now here is a fine example of how a semi-feral cat gets better. By the time Mom straightened out my mess, I was waiting in the hallway for reassuring pets. I would have been in hiding if that had happened a few years ago.
I did rip up the lace edge on the shutter. But not on purpose. This all happened because I thought I saw the Easter Bunny in the back yard through the bedroom window. I got kind of excited.

Today was shaping up to be just a regular day when .....
Have you seen the Hitcock movie: "The Birds!" Well, that is what it was like here this afternoon. I'm sure a video will eventually be made about it but our whole front yard was full of hundreds of birds going crazy!! Squirrel and I just sat and watched. Mom took some video and pictures. Earlier in the day, she had walked Squirrel and Squirrel got scared by sheer amount of them and ran back in the house. Yeah, Squirrel, the mighty huntress. Ha, ha!
I think I shall copy and paste this into my diary. Who knows, I might be diary pick for one of my groups one day.

I am a very easy to take care of cat. So I don't understand why the one special thing I want is so hard for Mom. I like kitty grass. But when I am almost finished eating/trashing a batch it takes Mom forever to notice that it is done and grow me some new stuff. So today, when she went for her coffee, which is near my pot of grass, I rubbed up against the coffee pot and the kitty grass pot. It worked. She finally got the hint. So I supervised as she prepared some new stuff. But now, I have to wait a week for it to grow! During that time she puts it way out of my reach. I don't know why as I have never knocked it over. Peaches was the one who used to do that. She was real rough with kitty grass. I just gently nibble at the grass. As I said, I am a very easy to take care of cat.

Yesterday, Mom went to work at 5am and did not get home until 4pm. She did not know it, but while she was at work, someone took the ditch on the slippery, snowy roads and knocked down a power pole at about 9am. This caused a power failure at our house but not at Mom's work place. When Mom got home, she got home to a completely dark neighborhood and house. Us kitties were starting to get real cold as the furnace had not been working all day! The house was down to 10 degrees (that is 50F for our American friends)! First Mom gave us our Fancy Feast treat (priorities, right!) then Mom let the dogs in and then found a flashlight. She called her brother and talked with him using her cell phone. Later she lit candles and went and got her Canadian Tire power box. That ran the TV for 90 minutes but it conked out just before the end of the hockey game we were watching. Squirrel had just gotten comfy on Mom's lap when a neighbor knocked on the door to ask if Mom knew why the power was out. Then, Mom took a hot bath. It is my job to be the bathroom cat, so I watched over her and got my pets when she got out of the tub all warm and clean. Then, she played her guitar for a while. Then she turned on her laptop and looked at photos of us until the power finally came back on around 7pm. Finally, the furnace was working again. Good thing it wasn't a really cold winter day. It was about -2 outside (30F). If it had been -40 (-40F) like it can get, that would have been terrible. We don't know if the people belonging to the vehicle that knocked down the pole got hurt bad. We don't think so.
So, that was Saturday's adventure.

Squirrel got a lot of attention over that mouse that she has in her photos. But the real story is that I did all of the work. I'm the one who sat out in the wind and rain and waited patiently for the little mouse to come into our cat run. I caught it. Then Squirrel came to see what I had. When I showed her, she snatched it then ran into the house with it and got all of the credit. I don't mind because I'm going to catch another one soon. Squirrel doesn't have a fraction of the patience that I have. That is okay when you are catching grasshoppers, but not mice and maybe, one day, birds! Some birds have come into our cat run, but Mom noticed and didn't let us out there until the birds found their way out.

I was really worried that we might never see Mom again. When she got home last night, it took me a while to believe that it was really her and she was home. Once I did, I let her pet me and fuss over me a bit. The reason we were more upset than usual while she was gone is that Peaches is not here anymore. She kept us company when Mom was gone. When strangers came to feed us, we followed Peaches. We were lost without her.
But everything is okay now.
While I was napping, Mom came and lifted the blanket and showed me something. Then she left and went into the livingroom. I was very interested in that nice smelling thing. So, I got up and there were OUR BOOGIE MATS! Squirrel was already having a great old time with hers so I joined right in. Squirrel got bossy and we scrapped a bit over mine, but we do each have our own!
Thank you cats for talking Mom into getting us these cool things. Mom promised to make us a Youtube video about them sometime soon.

We've all been tagged lately but had no clue what to do. So, for the first time, I will try....

I've been tagged by Damienne,
Here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write in their own diaries about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your diary!

1.) My sister and I were found abandoned in the bush, moments from death. Actually minutes from death, as you will read when Mom writes our story soon.

2.) I am a very beautiful cat, but don't know it.

3.) I am very gentle with all the cats and dogs that were here when I got here. I'm even gentle with bugs, and the mouse my sister and I once caught. (Mouse survived and was released.)

4.) Mom brought me to the vet, again, shortly after my first vet visit, because she thought something was wrong with me. Because my belly was huge! and tight! and you could play the drums on it! Vet said I was just eating too much to make up for when I had no food. I was fine. No worries.

5.) Mom brought me back to the vet as I needed a second round of antibiotics to cure my URI. Even now, I still sneeze a lot. But no more green gunk.

6.) When I want to play laser, I tap my Mom's arm while she is watching TV. She thinks that is cute and immediately fires up the laser toy.

7.) I love my sister Squirrel.

I’m tagging:

She was sure I hadn't snuck out when she answered her door, but just had to know for sure. The visitors stayed for over an hour while Mom kept taking quick looks all over the house for me. Visitors left, and then Mom went crazy trying to find me. The crazy fool even looked outside. In my good time, I left my hiding place and showed up at her feet! I sure had her worried.
