Mom took Rider, Vinny, and I all to an ACFA cat show this weekend. Mom was only going to take me as a companion, but decided to have me judged after all as Rider is recovering from a scratched cornea, and was a little squinty. I did okay.
Mom found out I did get enough points for ACFA Quadruple Grand Champion Alter after my last show... with one point to spare! All good things must come to an end though. Mom says I've earned my "retirement" and do not have to go to cat shows anymore. I'm going out on top. I have been showing since 2008, and Mom says I have nothing more to prove. My show credentials include:

*CFA Grand Premier
*CFA’s 9th Best European Burmese in Premiership Nationally 2008-2009
*CFA’s 6th Best European Burmese in Premiership Nationally 2011-2012
*ACFA Quadruple Grand Champion Alter
*ACFA North Central Region’s 16th Best Alter 2011-2012
*ACFA Inter-American 29th Best Alter 2011-2012
*ACFA Inter-American Best European Burmese Alter 2011-2012
*First European Burmese to Grand in ACFA
*First European Burmese to Grand in two different associations (CFA & ACFA)

I may still go with Rider and Vinny to shows as a companion (I hate being left home alone) or if anything ever happens to Rider or Vinny and Mom needs an "emergency substitution", I might go out again. I have a great show career for a kitty who was only supposed to be a "pet" and have set the bar high for Vinny and Rider to follow.

For some strange reason, the cat show season ends in April and starts in May. The CFA rankings are in now that the show season is over. I finished the show season as CFA's 6th Best European Burmese in Premiership Nationally. The Top 5 European Burmese in each class get breed awards from the breed council. I just missed that. Mom is very proud of me though. I am now officially "retired" from CFA cat shows.

No rankings yet from ACFA. Mom will be taking us to an ACFA show in a couple weeks. I will likely be "retiring" from the ACFA shows this summer too.

Mom and my breeders are very proud of me. I was technically sold as a "pet" and was never supposed to be a show cat. Later, when Mom sent my breeders pictures and updates on me, they suggested Mom could try showing me. I had matured better than they thought. I have by far exceeded any expectations Mom had for me in the show halls. Mom just thought we might try a couple shows for fun, and had no idea I'd do so well.

Mom took Rider and I to a CFA cat show this weekend. We've been showing in ACFA all year til now. Mom decided to enter us for three reasons: 1) it's one of only two CFA shows in reasonable driving distance for us, 2) Mom wanted to see if Rider could get any points toward CFA Grand Premier, and 3) the photographer Preston Smith would be there.

Well, I did great. It was a two day show with 6 rings/judges each day. I made finals in 9/12 rings! I have to admit though, this show got a low entry count and did not get that many cats.

As for the photo shoot... neither Rider or I was very cooperative. I have a history of being "camera-shy", and I tend to act big professional cameras are literally going to shoot me. The photographer was good though, and despite me being so uncooperative, did get some decent shots he's going to work with. Mom should get the disk in about a month, and will post pictures then...

Mom took me to an ACFA cat show this weekend. Mom told me I was "retired" after I made Grand Premie ...

Mom took me to an ACFA cat show this weekend. Mom told me I was "retired" after I made Grand Premier in CFA - she LIED! Now that ACFA has recognized my breed, Mom wants me to Grand in ACFA too. Well... I did GREAT at the show this weekend! I made finals in 6 out of 8 rings! I got: 7th Best All Breed Alter, 5th Best All Breed Alter, and 3rd Best All Breed Alter on Saturday. Then on Sunday I got 10th Best All Breed Alter, 3rd Best All Breed Alter, and 3rd Best Shorthair Alter. For those of you new to showing, most shows have 4-6 rings each day. Each ring has a different judge. The judges are not allowed to confer with each other. Basically each ring is a "mini show" and as the judges may see things differently, you really have an opportunity in each ring to make the judges final. When the judge has finished judging all the cats in a class (classes are: Kittens, Championship or Adult Cats for intact cats, Premiership or Alters for spays/neuters, and Household Pets) the judge will pick their Top 10 cats and call them back to their ring for their final presentation and award them their rosettes. In the purebred classes, cats are judged on conformation against a written breed standard for their breed. This states how a "perfect" cat of the breed should look and describes things such as eye shape and color, ear set, muzzle, body, coat and color. The judges will pick the cats that they feel most closely meet the written breed standard for their breed. In Household Pet, there is no breed standard, so the judges pick the cats they like best based on things like personality, grooming and presentation, and health. Needless to say, Mom is VERY proud of me and very happy. My next ACFA show will be the end of August. I just need four more Winner's Ribbons (you get a Winner's Ribbon in each ring until you Grand in ACFA - it means the judge is certifying you have no "disqualifying faults"), and I will be an ACFA Grand Champion Alter - and the FIRST European Burmese to make Grand in ACFA.

Well Mom's done it. She was gone all day yesterday, and when she finally came home - she didn't come home alone! She brought home a little kitten named Vada. She's only 15 weeks old. She's a European Burmese and came from the same breeder I did (although we are not related). Right now, she's "isolated" in Mom's bedroom til she meets our vet Monday morning. Then we'll be "officially" introduced. Rider and I are not too thrilled and have been right outside that door. Now we're starting to play "footsie" under the door too. Rider and I retaliated by stealing Mom's hair ties and watch (she found them in the hallway), and I broke into the kitchen cabinet where Mom keeps out treats, stole the bag, and Rider and I helped ourselves to a nice big late night snack, leaving the mess for Mom. Maybe that will teach her? Mom seems pretty happy with this little girl though. Vada's page is up with several pictures if anyone wants to look.

Mom took me to a local ACFA (American Cat Fanciers Association) show with Rider this weekend. ACFA is recognizing my breed effective with the new show season starting May 2. So, I was "presentation only" as my breed was not "official" with ACFA til Monday. The judges and several exhibitors were very interested in me and noticed the difference in type between me, a European Burmese, and the Burmese. Absolutely nothing against Burmese, but European Burmese and Burmese are different breeds and are supposed to look different, and Mom and I were happy the judges and spectators picked up on that. A couple judges even said I was the very first European Burmese they've seen and I'm likely one of the first (if not first) European Burmese seen in ACFA which was very cool. Mom and my breeders are very proud of me, and that I got to be an ambassador for my breed to help get things started in ACFA.

Rider and I are expecting a brown tortie European Burmese little sister sometime in mid-May from my breeders. My breeders name their litters alphabetically, and this little girl needs a "V" name. This is not an unusual custom with purebreds and breeders.
Mom took me to the Dermatologist Thursday, March 31 for my acne. The dermatologist seemed to be in agreement with what my vet has done so far. He also agreed that right now, my acne is healing and trying to go into remission. He does feel I'm going to have some scarring and bald spots on my chin (similar to human acne scarring) from my latest severe breakout. So, I might not be able to go to shows anymore... we'll see how I heal. The Dermatologist wants to continue my clindamycin antibiotic for a month as he said it can take that long to heal deep infections. He also wants me on Douxo Spot On topical every 3 days and Mupirocin antibiotic ointment every other day. He is optimistic that we can get my acne under better control so I won't have to go on antibiotics and steroids every few months. I have a follow up appointment in May.

Also an update on the little sister situation... Mom heard from my breeder today. Unfortunately, little Allie has not developed as well as they had hoped as she's grown. They no longer feel she is going to be show quality. This does happen sometimes as kittens grow quickly and can change a LOT! They do want Mom to have the best possible kitten breed standard wise as Mom does want to show. So, they offered Mom a brown tortie girl in another litter. Mom said she was okay with the switch. Hopefully this little girl will grow and develop to be a very good show quality example of the European Burmese breed standard. She's only 7 weeks old right now and will not be ready til she's 12 weeks old... so we'll just have to wait and see...

Mom's really done it this time. She called my breeder today to get on her waiting list for a new European Burmese kitten! Mom was expecting to get put on the waiting list... but they have a kitten they are now holding for Mom. She's 7 weeks old, and won't be ready to move in here til she's 12 weeks. She's a blue tortie. My breeder was going to keep her for showing and breeding, but decided it would be better to get some new bloodlines. So, when Mom called, they offered her to Mom. They know Mom does like to show, although she can only go to a few shows a year, so they said they wanted to pick a nice one for her that the judges might like. Not sure I really want a little sister... but maybe if Mom has her to show, I won't have to go to shows anymore and can stay home. Here's some pictures of her if anyone is curious:

picture 1 7 weeks old with cream brother

She is not registered yet and does not have a name. They name their litters alphabetically, and her litter falls on DeKattCo's "T litter" so I need a "T" name for her. Mom was thinking:

DeKattCo's Tornado Allie (Allie)
DeKattCo's Tsumani (Susie)
DeKattCo's Thyme and Rosemary (Rosie)
DeKattCo's Torrie
DeKattCo's Twilight Tear (Twyla)
DeKattCo's Tia
DeKattCo's Twilight Mist (Twyla or Misty)
DeKattCo's Twilight Star (Twyla or Star)
DeKattCo's Tiger Lily (Lily)

Let me know your opinion for a name or any other suggestions!

Uh Oh... Mom's been toying with the idea of taking me back out to the cat shows. Currently the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) is the only major association that recognizes my breed, European Burmese. American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA) is talking about recognizing European Burmese sometime next show season. For some strange reason, the cat show season begins in May and ends in April. Anyway, if ACFA recognizes my breed, Mom is thinking about taking me out to the shows again in ACFA. Mom says it would be very cool if I could title in both associations.

I wasn't very happy left at home while Rider and Oliver went with Mom to the ACFA show. Unfortunately, Rider has not done much at the shows so far either. I guess I could go to some more shows. Mom loves traveling with me too.

Mom brought me back to the vet today. Even though I finish my course of antibiotics for my acne infection tomorrow, I still broke out over the 4th of July weekend while on antibiotics and it just won't clear up completely. So, back to the vet I went. Plan C is to try a Douxo Spot On topical treatment which hopefully will help control the excess oil/sebum and help keep surface bacteria down too. One of my breeder's friends also suggested Gold Bond powder to absorb the oil on my chin. We'll see. Mom's about ready to try anything! Mom would love to see me back to my handsome self. Needless to say - no cat shows unless we can get my acne cleared up! I'd be okay with an "early retirement", but I know how much Mom would like me to become a Grand Premier - and I'm only 7 points away from the title!

I'm also getting a new little brother. I didn't ask for one, but there is still a vacancy here and Mom couldn't resist the little guy. Here's his page - Quincy. Mom isn't sure if that will be a final decision for his name yet.
Mom took me to the vet Wednesday. My feline acne has been VERY frustrating to treat and rather cyclic (I'd keep breaking out, it would look better - then break out again). NOTHING worked - Panalog ointment from my vet, Stridex pads for sensitive skin, and a benzoyl peroxide acne wash. My chin looked awful this week - all broke out with multiple lumps with pus in them. So, back to the vet we went. We got to see our favorite, regular vet this time. She squeezed one of my zits to make a slide of what was in it. It was teeming with bacteria. I have an acne infection and need to be treated more aggressively with an antibiotic Zeniquin. My vet said she did some research on feline acne and the latest thoughts and treatment recommendations. Since what we tried didn't work - I need antibiotics. My vet said some stubborn acne cases need antibiotics for up to 6 weeks!

I've also lost some weight. I was 9.8 pounds the end of April and now am only 9.0 pounds. Mom didn't realize that til we left. I haven't been finishing my meals lately though. Mom left a message and the vet will call her back on that and a couple other questions.

Here's some pictures of my chin:

The spot that looks the worst is where my vet had to squeeze to make a slide.

Here's a webpage with information on feline acne:

Mom had to take my Drinkwell Platinum water fountain away today:( I broke out in feline acne on my chin and plastic food/water dishes have been linked to acne as plastic absorbs oils and also scratches and harbors bacteria. Mom hated to take it away as Rider and I really like it. Maybe she can save some money and get us a stainless steel or ceramic one for Christmas... Any recommendations Catsters?

The vet did give me some ointment to put on my chin. I also eat Hills Prescription Diet feline t/d for dental health. Several websites Mom found on feline acne suggested cats with acne may do better on canned food as the pet food companies spray dry kibble with fats and oils (which then get on the cat's chin) to make it palatable as dry food is NOT a natural food for cats. Wet food is thought to be less likely to cause or exacerbate acne. They said Mom could try 50/50 t/d and canned food and see how I do.

Stress is also a factor in feline acne and my veterinary technician agreed with Mom that I've had a LOT of stress lately. In January my brother and best friend Mr. Fez passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly. I also had to have surgery in mid-January for a complete dental cleaning, oral exam, and two extractions. Then I was introduced to my new little brother Rider the end of February and my big brother Mickey just passed away in early April. Mom thinks all that has been just as hard on me as it has on her.

Anyway, hopefully we can get my acne cleared up soon. At least we don't have any cat shows planned til probably fall! I still need 7 points for my Grand Premier title.

I got stuck going to the vet today. I was diagnosed with juvenile gingivitis at 6 months of age (common in oriental breeds). Even though Mom brushes my teeth, at 3 years old I needed a complete oral exam (including dental x-rays), a professional cleaning, and two teeth extracted! Mom was pretty nervous, especially after what happened to Mr. Fez, but knew it had to be done and that my vet would take good care of me. My vet called Mom this afternoon and told her everything went very smoothly and that she was very happy with how well I did. She did have to extract two teeth (lower right - the two right behind the canine)... and she also said the other side is likely to be next year's project... I will be going home tomorrow morning since I was still pretty groggy and Mom works second shift. My vet said she'd send me home with pain meds and she also put a Fentanyl patch on my tail.

Mom took me to the Illinois Feline Fancier's CFA cat show in Springfield, IL this weekend. I made the Shorthair Specialty final on Saturday, 8th Best Shorthair in Premiership. Sunday in my last ring I got called back for another final! That judge really liked me and made me his Best Shorthair Premier and Best All-Breed Premier! With the ribbons I got on Sat. and Sun. Mom is guessing I'll probably get about 9 or 10 more points. We'll know for sure in a few days when we can check online.

There was also a photographer at the show so Mom decided to try to get some professional pictures of me... Ha! I was AWFUL! Mom and the photographer got me relaxed on the table and I was even playing with a feather and posing beautifully up on my hind legs and turning. I even liked the photographer and gave her a headbonk and kiss... but as soon as her camera came out - I FREAKED! I HATED the click and flash and I was absolutely convinced that camera was going to get me! I kept freaking out and trying to climb and hang on Mom! We tried a few times Sat. and Sun. with no improvement - as soon as I saw or heard the camera - it was all over! Finally, Mom HAD to be in the photos with me. Mom wasn't exactly planning to be in the photos and didn't really want to be - but I insisted! She did get two pretty nice shots of Mom and I together and Mom says in hindsight that's good. She has a lot of pictures of me (I could care less if Mom takes out her camera!) but none of us together. We finally did get one head shot the photographer is going to try to work with. Mom finally had to hold me up against the background and we got someone to try to distract me while the photographer got a couple shots in between my protests! She will have to photoshop out Mom's arms though! Mom and the photographer were dumbfounded though and could not figure out why the camera scared me so much! The photographer said she's never had a cat that was just scared of the camera before - usually it the location (the cat's scared away from home) or sometimes she said they're afraid of her (someone they don't know) or sometimes it's a cat's first show and they are just generally scared. None of that applied to me though - it was her camera and equipment! Should get the photos in about 2-3 weeks...

*Update* I received 12 Grand Premier points at this show. This brings my cumulative total points to 68. I need 75 points for the title of Grand Premier. Only 7 more points to go!

I've known for a long time where Mom keeps my wand toys. I even come running every time she opens the closet! Guess what? I FINALLY figured out how to open the closet! The closet has sliding doors that don't latch or lock... I can get my paw in at the bottom and manage to push it open it far enough to get at my wand toys! Mom found toys everywhere when she got home from work! Mom says I'm too smart, strong, and determined for my own good! Mom says those are "supervised toys" though and she's now going to re-locate what's left of them! What's up with that? If they are supervised toys, how am I supposed to supervise and "kill" them when I can't get at them?

Well, Mom took me to the CFA cat show last weekend in Arlington Heights, IL. I didn't do very well this time. The show season ends in April and begins again in May so the toughest competition is out all over trying to get last minute points for Regional and National awards. There were a lot of really nice cats there in contention for Regional/National awards (and several from other regions). There was even a couple benched near us who drove all the way from FL to show their cat as there wasn't any shows in their region that weekend. There were also at least three judges there as exhibitors showing their cats (including one who breeds EB's and brought some of her cats in the same class). The competition was just too tough this time and I didn't get any finals or Grand points at this show. I did get 2nd Best of Breed in 3 rings and a few Regional points though. We will try a few more shows when the new show season starts again and the competition is a little less fierce.

Mom took me to the Saintly City Cat Club show in Saint Paul, MN this weekend. This weekend's show went MUCH better! No bathroom mishaps - Mom had me ride in a larger crate with a small litter box (which I did end up using!). It was a 2 day show, but only 6 rings (4 All Breed, 2 Specialty). It had a decent count too, "unofficially" 40(12) in Premiership and 18(7) Shorthairs. Saturday I made one final - the Shorthair Specialty final - 10th Best Cat. Sunday I made another final - Shorthair Specialty again, 8th Best Cat and the judge also gave me an additonal ribbon for Best Premier. I wasn't able to make any of the All Breed finals, but another judge (on Sunday) did give me a ribbon for 2nd Best Shorthair Premier. I came home with 4 pretty rosettes and Mom is thinking I will probably get about 15 Grand points from this show.

The judges did have some really nice things to say about me too. They liked my eyes and eye color, my heavy muscular body, my even cream coloring and coat, and one judge even said I was beautifully presented and my coat felt like a million bucks! That really made Mom happy - especially after all of my "grooming issues" last time! Yes, they all got my color right this time - yay! One judge said I was kind of a "hot" cream though - was she hitting on me?!

*Update* I received 16 Grand Premier points at this show. This brings me to 56 cumulative Grand Premier points. 75 points are required for the title of Grand Premier. I need 19 more points - I'm almost there!

Mom took me to the Quad City Cat Show in Moline, IL this weekend. Well, we certainly didn't have the best show experience this weekend! It seemed like everything that could go wrong did go wrong! First, it was over a 5 hour drive... and I didn't use the litter box before we left on Friday. I ended up wetting my carrier and had to have an emergency bath immediately upon arriving at the hotel. Mom had to use her own Herbal Essences shampoo on me too as she didn't bring mine! I also seemed to think Mom was going to be mad at me when she pulled me out of my carrier. She felt SO bad for me.

Saturday did NOT go well. It didn't help that I spilled my water bowl and drenched my backside... again... and right before a ring too. Mom dried me off as best she could with a chamois, but my tail was still a little damp when I went up to the ring to be judged. Sigh... scratch that one. One judge seemed to like me. He commented how very muscular I am and that my body had a great feel to it. Mom thought she even saw him write down my number... but no awards. Then one judge really irked Mom by introducing me to the on-lookers watching the judging as a RED European Burmese. I am NOT red - I am a CREAM European Burmese. Double sigh... scratch that one too. Day 1 - NOTHING!

Day 2 Sunday went a little better (hey, at least I stayed dry!). No finals (overall top 10), but I did get Best Shorthair Premier ribbons from 2 judges. And 2nd Best Shorthair Premier Ribbons from the other 2 judges. I will probably only get about 6 points though as there were so few Premiers entered. There were 10 entered, but only 9 showed up and 2 got the last points they needed for their Grand Premier title on Saturday and transferred to GP for Sunday. By Sunday Shorthair Premiers were down to just me and a beautiful Korat spay (retired breeder). I did manage to win over her twice, but she ended up getting the last points she needed and Granded by the end of the day.

Anyway we are very happy to be home and 6 points is better than nothing at all.

*Update* I received 8 Grand Premier points at this show. This brings me to 40 points. I need 75 points to become a Grand Premier so 35 more points to go...

Mom took me to the Twin Cities Cat Fanciers CFA cat show today in Inver Grove Heights, MN. I behaved very well. I'm always a little nervous the first ring or two though. I wasn't able to make any of the All Breed finals - there were 35(20) total in Premiership "unofficially". I did make the Shorthair Specialty final though - 9th place! Unofficially there were 23(14) shorthairs in Premiership. The judge also said I was her 3rd Best Shorthair Premier so I will get some points. The judge also said I had great eyes, a nice coat, was in excellent condition, and beautifully presented. Mom had her sign my pretty rosette and the judge said I was a nice boy and asked who my breeder was.

I also attracted the attention of some other exhibitors, I was benched by some nice people who show in ACFA as well and since they don't recognize EB's yet they were excited to see me! They all thought I was a beautiful cat and couldn't believe ACFA doesn't recognize EB's yet. Later one came back and jokingly told Mom they decided the reason ACFA doesn't recognize EB's is because the American Burmese breeders wouldn't want the competiton of such a beautiful cat! MOL! For a bigger show this one was still fun as we were benched by some nice people.

*Update* I officially received 10 Grand Premier points at this show. This brings me to 32 cumulative Grand Premier points. I need a total of 75 Grand Premier Points to become a Grand Premier so 43 more to go...

1. What is your favorite Olympic sport?

Hmm... I like several sports: Gymnastics (I'm great on balance beam!) Track and Field (I'm great at the 100 meter dash and the high jump!). I'll pass on the swimming events though!

2. Do you prefer Summer or Winter Olympics?

Summer Olympics - I love warm weather and sun spots. I'll pass on the snow and ice involved in the Winter Olympics.

3. What is the quirkiest thing that you do?

Shread paper! Especially toilet paper, although paper towels and kleenex are fun to shred too! Paper shredding should be recognized as an Olympic sport!

4. Do you have a crush on any other kitty out there and if so, who?

I have a crush on Emme (blushes)

5.What's your favorite rosie or zealie and why?

Love them all!

Mom took me to the Midwest Enthusiasts of Wonderful Sphynx (MEOWS) CFA cat show in Racine, WI yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't do so great this time. It was a bigger show and there were 32 cats in Premiership alone. All I got this time was a 2nd Best Shorthair Premier ribbon from one judge. Mom checked with the clerk and I will be getting some points for that. Mom was hoping for more (she has high hopes for her boy!) but there was alot of tough competition this time so she's okay with it. And, of course, Mom says I'm still Best in Show as far as she's concerned! Maybe next time I'll have a better show...

Mom also brought Mickey to the show in Household Pet (HHP) and he did very well. See his diary for details. I seemed to like having my big brother with at the show too. Mom also won a nice blue soft sided cat carrier for me in the raffle at the show.

UPDATE: Mom just checked online and I only received 6 Grand points this time. This brings me to 22 cumulative Grand points after 2 shows as a Premier. I'm almost 1/3 of the way there. 75 points are required to become a Grand Premier so 53 more to go...

I went to the Cats of Wisconsin (C.O.W.s) CFA cat show this weekend in Manitowac, WI. Mom was a little nervous, nearly half the entries in Premiership were Grand Premiers and Mom briefly wondered what we were doing there - especially when I didn't make the final in my first ring... sigh... she of little faith my mommy! I did great!

I behaved much better! I still acted somewhat scared and preferred to hide and rest under my blanket. No growling, but I still did some nervous meowing but less frequently and at a lower volume. I still didn't play with the judges or eat, drink, or use the litterbox. I did at least sniff my food/water bowls and checked out the litterbox. With the last judge I watched her toy and was thinking about going for it!

I made 3 finals too!

One All Breed judge gave me 9th Best Cat and 2nd Best Shorthair Premier.

Another All Breed judge gave me 10th Best Cat.

And the Shorthair Specialty judge gave me 6th Best Cat.

While she didn't give me a rosette, another judge said this was a very nice group of Premiers and said she felt some other cats beared mentioning - she mentioned 3 cats and one was me. So I guess I got an "honorable mention".

There were about 26 total cats entered in Premiership so I should get some points. I was the only European Burmese at this show.

The judges had nice comments on me again. One mentioned my eyes again, two liked my moderate body type (one explained to the crowd that the Europeans are supposed to look different than the Americans and was happy to see this in an EB) One liked me head/muzzle, one liked my even cream coloring, and one commented on how muscular I am (and told Mom I was really sweet - I liked her and she was the one I thought about playing with).

Mom is very proud of me! She e-mailed my breeder and she is thrilled too!

Update: I received 16 points toward my Grand Premier title at this show. The official show total entry count was 98 with 25 cats in Premiership and 10 Premiers. 75 points are needed to become a Grand Premier so 59 more points to go...

Well, Mom took me to the Titletown Cat Fanciers CFA cat show this past weekend April 12-13 in Green Bay, WI. It was a small show, about 111 entries. We had an April snow storm too so that probably explained why there were several "absents". I did pretty well for my first show - I got 8 Winner's Ribbons and am now a Premier. There were no other European Burmese competing in Premiership though. I also made one final, which Mom was told is unusal for a first show when you are competing as an Open, and got a 10th place rosette in Shorthair Specialty. The judge said I had beautiful eyes, a nice coat, and am very muscular. There was another judge too that was very nice and spent a little extra time with me talking to me and when she'd blink at me I'd blink back at her - she said I just needed a little reassurance!

However, I was NOT too thrilled about the whole show experience! I did alot of nervous meowing and even some growling. In the benching area I just wanted to hide under my blanket (guess Mom named me right!). I wouldn't use the litter box, eat, or drink either til we got to the hotel. I was fine at the hotel though! The breeder who was showing Mom the ropes had some lavender which seemed to help - I behaved a little better the second day. She also tried giving me some treats, but I just sniffed them. I wouldn't play with the judge's toys. I wouldn't play in the benching area either - just looked at the toys.

Anyway, I am very happy to be home! Mom says we'll try one or two more shows and if I still hate it I can stay home then. She got me as a pet and just thought we'd try showing for fun. She's still proud of me and wouldn't trade me for anything.

late note - "official" show count was 94

Well, I found some more mischief! I like to jump on top of Mom 's big 44 gallon aquarium and I finally got the fish food that Mom left on top. Mom and Dad found the open container of fish food in front of the aquarium this morning complete with tooth marks! Hey - I tried to act innocent but Mom and Dad didn't buy it. Mom spent the morning vacuuming what was left of the fish food out of the carpet. Sorry Mom - it was yummy though! Mom and Dad still can't figure out how I unscrewed the cap!

Mom also didn't seem to think it was very cute when I jumped into the fridge (freezer on bottom model) tonight when she was trying to get something to drink after work. What's with these people? Why do they keep the most tempting food so inaccessible?

Oh, Mom also found one of her hair ties on the stairs. I couldn't resist. Isn't it strange that she uses a great cat toy to tie her hair back and then doesn't like me playing with it?

Mom got us a new blue Pet Gear AT3 stroller and we get to go for strolls now! I love it! I feel very safe and secure in my stroller and I get to watch the world go by and get fresh air! Mom took me to the nursing home where she works today in my stroller and I did pretty good. I was just a little nervous with all the strange sounds, smells, and people. A few people chuckled and smiled and said they thought Mom had a baby in the stroller at first until they looked closer! Needless to say, I was a big hit with the residents too!

Coco, Bijou, Aedan, and Lily tagged me so I guess it's high time I started a diary!

The rules of the game are:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write on their diary about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and read your diary. Also they need to post the rules too.

Seven Random Facts about Me:

1. I fetch!

2. I traveled on an airplane to join my family, but Mom still has never been on an airplane!

3. I am a very playful and energetic kitten!

4. I also love to cuddle. Either with my parents or one of my brothers - I don't like to be alone.

5. I love to help my parents with everything (whether they want my help or not)!

6. I hate to be ignored!

7. I am very outgoing and love company - that means I get more attention!
