With great sadness I must report that it became very clear that Balu is with the wrong person, and especailly in the wrong house.Although his aggressive tendencies are part of his unusual personality, that's not even the reason we decided to give him back.Turns out he is a truly restless soul.He hardly ever relaxes, and even when he does, his tail is almost constantly swishing around as if he's somehow irritated(meanwhile purring..???) He is very over-excitable,and gets really wide-eyed and tense at even the slightest sound. He is often running for the window or door.We were told he's been indoors his whole life, but it seems he'd perhaps be better off outdoors chasing birds. The main reason we can't keep him is because I live with three others in a very active shared apartment (in the city center with no yard).Between the inhabitants and all our friends, people are coming and going from morning til night in this apartment.Balu needs a quieter environment with less stimulation. If he had a quieter home, perhaps with time he will relax and the restlessness would leave him.Luckily,we got him from a privately run cat rescue, where they keep the cats freely in their home as foster cats until the right home is found...no animal shelter or cages. The couple he is staying with are very good people who care for him and are real cat lovers. The house he's in is kitty heaven with all the toys and cat structures a cat could want, and he recognised the surroundings immediately when he went back. The caretaker people said they'll let Balu relax and settle in for a few months before they even try to find the right person for him. They now know that he needs not only a loving compassionate person who can accept his quirks, but a very quiet home as well.I cried for two days straight over this decision.I really love Balu. But he was just in the wrong place here with me.I believe we gave him the best chance to find the truly right home and person by giving him back to the cat rescue family.By they way, they will keep Balu as long as it takes for him to find the right people...they wouldn't kill him.So we're all really lucky that he now has a loving home to rest in and where they'll find the best place for him to live out the rest of his years.I will always remember Balu and am very grateful he came into my life for a brief time.He taught me a lot about love and letting go.
