First, wow! I was a diary pick of the day! Awesome!

Second, it's my favorite time of year again--that time when mommy and daddy put a tree full of toys right in my living room! Yay! I get to bat at things on it, hide underneath it, and pretend to climb up it so mommy will yell! Ahhh.... I love it.

I have discovered that as much as the dog annoys me, there are a few benefits. For example, he has a super cool tail. I like to smack it as he walks by. And he doesn't even do anything about it! That is awesome. And, he gets to have a giant waterbowl! I don't even drink from mine anymore, it's strictly a toy-bath now. I only use the doggie's. It's like a swimming pool! AND--get this--mommy and daddy got him a huge bed that he doesn't usually sleep on! He likes the futon better, so I get to sleep in his bed when he's not looking! Plus, he gets in a lot of trouble--he ran away from mommy again yesterday--so I look super good now!

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!

I hear a rumor that we'll be going to New York this weekend. Hmm....

I guess this dog is here to stay. Oh well. We got rid of his fleas about a month ago now (mommy even found my one superflea one day while brushing me. yay for mommies) but now he has a tapeworm. We think he got them from the fleas.

I had an OK time at the kennel we stayed at over thansgiving but CharlieDog didn't do so good. They didn't let him go to the bathroom enough so he peed all over his baby blanket. Mommy has put his through the machine four times already and it STILL smells bad. Mine went through twice only because it was in the same bag as his. Now it is fresh and clean and back on the landing where it belongs. Yay.

Daddy plays a new game that I like called Guitar Hero. He lets me help him by attacking the whammy bar thingy. It's fun.

Mommy is talking about putting up the Christmas tree again soon. Oh goodie. I like that thing. I especially like her butterfly ornaments. They're made with mesh (good for tearing), metal (good for chewing), and beads (sparkly to get your attention)!

That's it for now. I think I need a nap.

So mommy and daddy DID decide to get me a brother dog. He's not as bad as I thought, but he does have fleas. Mommy and daddy are trying to do something about it but mostly it just makes mommy mad. It also makes her bring out the vacuum more often, which I HATE.

The one cool thing is that CharlieDog is NOT allowed on the furniture, but I am! Ha! At night I get to sleep on their bed and CharlieDog is not allowed! He can't sit on the couch or the chair, either! They are mine, all mine!

If only he'd lay off my mommy. I don't like sharing mommy at all. She tries to pet me and play with me, but that darn dog has to butt in all the time. That makes me mad, and then I don't want to play either. CharlieDog doesn't know how to play yet. Mommy said that the people who had CharlieDog before probably didn't have time to play with him. He doesn't seem to know what getting brushed is, either. Mommy tried to brush him the other day and he wouldn't let her. If he'd known what it was, there's no way he'd be crazy enough to pass that up.

Poor dogs. They'd be much smarter if they were cats.

First, go vote for me, PLEASE!.

Sorry we haven't written a post in awhile. Mommy works from home now and uses the computer a lot, so I don't get a turn much. Daddy is still gone, and no word on when he'll return. I hope soon, though, because Mommy is pretty sad. So sad, in fact, I think she's gone crazy! She's talking about getting a...D-O-G.

Other than that, things are good. I love our new house. I get to look out any windows I want, especially the ones high up on the second floor! Yay! There's a pretty white cat that comes to visit me sometimes that I like, and a calico that I DON'T like at all. We call that one Nermal. Nermal was in our back yard one day and I had to hiss at him a lot and attack the glass so he'd know I meant business. That's my yard! Eventually, Mommy put me in the bathroom for a few minutes and when she let me out again, Nermal was gone!

One day Mommy and Daddy started putting stuff in boxes. I thought that was cool, because I love me some boxes. But then the boxes got put in a truck and so did I! They brought me to a strange place with lots of people and Mommy let me hide in the bathroom. That was nice of her, because these people were scary!!

When it got quiet, Mommy dragged me out from behind the toilet and pushed me up these fun things to climb on called stairs. I saw that all our stuff was out here. This was my new home! I like this place so much better! Stairs are so fun! And Mommy lets me look out any window I want. I have my own room here, too. Yay!

Not long after we got here, Daddy went away. Mommy has been very sad but she tells me that Daddy had to work and that he might be home in a few months to visit before he has to go back! Oooh I hope so! I miss him and so does my Mommy!

Oh, things have been bad over here, folks. Very bad.

In November I didn't feel too good and I peed on the bed again. Mommy got mad and took me to the doctor. He said I needed special food and some anti-biotics. So I got those, and mommy made me take them, but I hated the food. A lot.

But it didn't help me, and then I couldn't pee at all. Mommy got very nervous and took me to Pet ER in Towson. Don't go there!! They kept sticking big mean tubes in me to help me pee, but they hurt sooooo bad. They kept me away from my mommy and daddy for almost a week! It made me so sad. I didn't let anybody come near me without a good growl or a hiss! Mommy and daddy came to visit me twice, and it was so nice to see them. I wanted them to take me home but all they kept saying was, "Soon baby, soon we will bring you home."

Then I had to get P/U surgery to help me pee without the tubes. They shaved my tail and my butt, and my belly! So embarrassing! The worst part was the cone I had to wear on my head! Mommy called it a lampshade, but it's really called an e-collar. I had to wear it for over 2 weeks! And pee on stupid newspaper!!!! The tubes hurt my insides, so the hole they made closed up and they had to do it AGAIN a month later.

I just got the e-collar off for the 2nd time, after 10 more days. Ugh! But everyone thinks I can pee much better now, and hopefully it will stay that way. Hooray for pee!

My mom was using this tidy cats crystal stuff, which she and I both liked. It looks like snow. When it gets too dirty it looks like yellow snow and then it's time to clean it. But mommy decided that she wanted flushable litter, so she bought Feline Pine. It disintegrates as I use it, and I just didn't like it. To let mommy know I didn't like it, first I peed on her fish rug. All she did was put fresh Feline Pine in the box. Then I peed on her favorite quilt. She got very upset with that, but this time she just mixed more tidy cats with some fresh Feline Pine. When I peed on the fish rug a second time, mommy finally got fed up. I have to give mommy credit, though, she always knew that I wasn't peeing on stuff because I wanted to pee on stuff, I was peeing on stuff to make a point. HELLO, mommy! I don't like peeing on pieces of tree!

She and daddy went to the pet store, and they came home with some World's Best Cat Litter. It's the scoopable kind, which mommy does not like at all, but it is flushable and so that's cool. She says it smells like cat pee on popcorn, but I think this stuff is going to work out fine for everyone. Yay for World's Best! We shall see if I continue to use it, or if I pee on the fish rug for a third time (since I don't think it'll survive another wash, the third time should really be a charm!)

Mommy and daddy took me to NY for the weekend. I hate going there. This time they put me in an even smaller room, with a bed that was even lower to the ground. Lucky for me I still fit under it. They had to keep me in the room with the door closed, because of the kids and the dog. The kids don't really know how to pet me and they make too much noise. I don't like them at all! The dog and I played a game. He sniffed under the door and I stayed on my side so he could smell me. Mommy wouldn't let him in to get me, though. Heehee!

They went to a wedding on Sunday and put the stinky dog down the basement where he lives. I got the run of the whole house then! Oh, it was so fun! There was lots of stuff to jump on and to explore. And with no kids and no dogs, (and no mommy to tell me to get down), I was free to knock candles into the dog bowl and get into all kinds of other trouble. I made sure that I was back under the bed when I heard the car pull up. heehee! At first, mommy thought I hadn't come out at all, but then they noticed that I did some redecorating.

Sorry I haven't gotten Mommy away from the computer long enough to jump on and type up an entry. Things have been so crazy here.

Daddy went away last Friday. Mommy went to stay at a friend's house. I'll call her B. I like B, she's one of only a few people that I DO like. But Mommy brought me with her! B's house is smaller than our house and I wasn't allowed in most of the doors. B lives with someone else (let's call him S.) and I don't like him. Mommy and B went to the store and left me alone with S, so I ran under the bed. Mommy, B and another nice lady called M tried to get me out from under there but I wouldn't budge. Finally M crawled under and dragged me out...even though I hissed quite a bit!

We got back home late on Sunday and everything was OK. Mommy was upset about Daddy being gone but he came home early! He was supposed to be gone til Sunday but instead he was here Tuesday. Mommy was happy until she found out it was because of the dreaded "D" word--deployment.

So my Daddy left on Friday, again, and this time he will be away awhile. I climbed into his uniform bag and rubbed my head on it. This way, Daddy's uniforms will be furry and smell like me. Come on, if Mommy can write Daddy a letter and spray it with her perfume, why can't I do that?

I think Mommy is a little anxious about Daddy leaving for a trip, and I guess that makes ME anxious as well. Or, rather, that's what Mommy is using to explain my recent behavior. When she woke up this morning she found that I had:

1) shredded nearly a whole roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, turning it into a useless mess,

2) stolen things out of the coffee table and threw them around the house,

3) knocked things off the dining room table and eaten the napkins,

4) dragged the nice clean clothes Mommy had set on top of the dryer to dry overnight through the kitchen, and something I have never ever done before,

5) peed all over her nice clean fish mat in the bathroom next to my litter box.

She's having a tough day. But she hasn't yelled at me at all.

Mommy is not feeling good, she's dizzy. So she spent the day in bed. I spent most of it in bed with her. I thought she was just being lazy at first, so I brought her some toys but she really didn't feel like playing. So I curled up next to her and kept watch to make sure she was OK. When my daddy came home, he told me that I was doing a good job taking care of her. That made me happy. I jumped up on his back and tried to climb the canopy. I wish I was able to balance up there. It'd be such a great place to hang out! Speaking of hanging out, we had some guests here over the weekend and I even came out to say hi a few times.

They fed me Royal Canin when I was a baby but I hated it. Then I got Iams Kitten Chow and that was pretty good. But daddy picked me out something called Natural Balance (even though I hated their wet food. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww) and it is great stuff! YAY! Mommy was so suprised she was doing taste tests. She'd put one kibble of the Iams down next to one kibble of the new stuff and I'd always go right to the new stuff. Yum!
Today I figured something out. When mommy is sitting somewhere and watching TV or on the computer, instead of harassing her so she'll throw my ball for me, all I have to do is lay down next to her. I get petted and loved like you wouldn't believe! And I've heard more, "What a good boy!" today than I could count on ALL my claws!

Perhaps there is something to this lap kitty business.

Mommy and daddy went out, and then when they came home mommy was screaming about something and so they left again. They came right back--I found out what she was doing. Not screaming. Saying she wanted Ice Cream. I didn't know what it was. Mommy got some in a cone and put the wrapper it came in inside a plastic bag at her feet. I snuck in there and licked the wrapper clean. Oh my goodness is that stuff good! She had vanilla and then I went over to sample some of daddy's but he wouldn't let me have it. I even tried to get the spoon right out of his mouth so he would share. Mommy said that it was because there was chocolate in it and that's bad for me. But there was some cherry stuff in there, so I got to try that. That was OK but the vanilla was so good! I wish they would let me have more, I only got a few licks of each :(

Man, I can fly when I get going! Today I was running and I hopped on mommy and daddy's bed, but I flew over it somehow and slid right across mommy's night stand. I crashed into her lamp, picture frame, alarm clock and phone and knocked most of them down to the floor with me. I was pretty proud of myself (it is a queen sized bed. and I flew! right over it!) but mommy was pretty mad. I don't see WHY. Nothing broke. And I wasn't hurt. And it was soooo cooooooooooool!!! I don't know why I had to have a time out session in the bathroom for it. It was only for five minutes, but sheeesh. And I dunno why she sticks me in there. I just eat and jump around on stuff until she gets me out anyways. Who is she punishing? SHE'S the one that can't use the bathroom while I'm in there.

It's Monday again. That means mommy vacuums. We have two of them. One of them runs around on its own and the other one chases mommy around the house (I think). The one that goes on its own is OK. It only does one room at a time, and I just have to keep a very close eye on it while its going. But the big one is very loud and scary. It goes in all the rooms so there is nowhere to hide. I don't like it at all. Mommy decided after I tried to jump out the (closed) laundry room window that I should sit in my carry crate while she vacuums. I like this idea. I feel safe on my blanket in my little crate. The scary vacuum can't get me in there. And mommy gives me a treat when it's all over, so that makes it OK.

Daddy liked to keep a rubber band with his work things. It is really wide and stretchy which makes it the best toy ever! I stole it Sunday night. Mommy put it back. I stole it again while they were sleeping, but this time I hid it in my water bowl. Daddy found it before he left for work, and put it on the table since it was wet. He didn't want to bring a wet rubberband to work. I stole it back and this time I hid it in his shoe! Sneaky me! He didn't find it until late last night. He put it on the table again! Jeez, dad, why not give me a challenge? I also hid the elastic-y I took from mommy in my water bowl last night. Mommy found that when she woke up and took it away "until it dries." man I hate that! I like it when it's soggy!

Last night I took them both back :) When mommy woke up she found them, though. The rubber band was in my water dish and the elastic-y was in my dry food bowl. She let me keep the elastic-y but I dunno where that rubber band went. Now I have to stalk the whole house to find it! Hmm. Maybe it's under the coffee table? Noooo.... but it is awfully comfy under here. Maybe I'll take a nap for awhile and think things over. Yeah, that's it.

I had to have a chat with mommy yesterday because I guess I did a bad thing. It wasn't really a chat, it was more like mommy talked for a very long time and I had to just sit there and pretend to be interested. She was mad because it had been hot the night before and she left the kitchen window open, and while she was asleep, I tried to jump on the kitchen windowsill. But it had these things mommy calls blinds on it, and when I was making my attempt to get up there, I pushed the blinds through the screen.

Mommy was pretty mad. I really didn't mean to do it. I have two windows to look out of already, the big dining room window that has our backyard and all its' woodland creatures, and the big doors in the front of the house so I can see all the people (and more creatures. except dogs. ewww.) But sometimes you just want a different perspective, you know? After she finished talking, I disappeared for awhile so I wouldn't be in her way. I waited until she had done some yoga (is there a downward cat? If there is, mommy doesn't know how to do it. I think more things need to be named for us felines) I came back over and lay down right up along side her and she pet me for a bit.

But she said I'm not allowed to break anything else or I'll be in BIG trouble. We'll see about that!

Today I tripped mommy when she was bringing me more dry food. Oh man was that funny. She didn't fall down but kitten chow went everywhere! Heeheeheehee! I laughed to myself for a little while and then I ran around and ate as much of the kitten chow as I could. At least I helped clean up!

And then I got in trouble because mommy caught me eating her new plant. Why would she put it on the table if it wasn't FOOD? I know that's not where my food goes, and I'm not supposed to be on the table, but still!

I spent last night and today under the guest room bed because mommy's loud "brother" and his "girlfriend" were here. Yuck. I hate people I don't really know. I already know all the important ones. There's mommy and daddy and the vet. That's enough people! Mommy tried to get me out but I ignored her. She brought me some food so I didn't have to come out at all. I feel safe under the guest bed. There's so much stuff under there to explore, and nobody can fit under there but me.

It got quiet this evening and then daddy came and got me. He carried me around the apartment and let me peek into all the rooms to make sure the loud strangers were gone. And they were. Yay! I ran all around the house and played and it was so fun! Daddy got out my cat grass as a special treat and mommy played fetch with me.

Boy am I glad today's over!

Daddy calls me his third alarm clock. Most days one thing next to his bed makes lots of noise, then something else makes noise, and then I start making noise until he gets up and feeds me! Some days it's just me yelling for him to get up and that takes a lot more work. Today was one of those days.

But, man, did I pull a fast one! I got daddy to get up and feed me at 5:30 without waking up mommy. Then an hour later, I got mommy to get up and feed me all over again! Mommy thought daddy hadn't fed me yet because I ate so much the bowl was licked clean.

Mommy caught me trying to knock out the screen to the dining room window! DOH! She says it is way too high of a fall for me but aren't I supposed to land on my feet? She fixed the window and closed it so I can't get to the screen again. I never get to do anything fun!

She did say it was raining, though, so I guess that's a good thing. I don't like being wet. Oh well. Time for a nap! I need my rest if I'm going to get daddy up at 4:00 AM!

My name is Toby and I live in an apartment with my mommy and daddy. I am almost a year old. My favorite game is fetch and I'll bring my parents just about anything for them to throw for me. I also like stealing pens and hiding my toys in their shoes. I have lost my favorite toy, Mousie. Mommy says we will go on a hunt soon to find him.

They are pretty nice and spoil me quite a bit. I don't really like visitors and I haven't seen any other cats since they took me home. I don't like dogs at all, although I only met one, and it was only one time. Mommy really wishes I would be more social. I also hate mommy's Roomba because it chases me! But I like it better than the regular vacuum. That one is too loud! I tried to climb out the laundry room window the last time she used it. Good thing it was closed.

Think that's all for now. I'll get mommy to type more soon. Right now I want her to get off the computer so we can go to bed. Plus she is sitting in MY chair.
