Mama often sez "what goes around comes around" I wasn't sure what that meant until now. You see, Sebastian is the biggest cat in our catshold, and a man-cat at that. He takes (took?) great delight in picking fights with me, and with Maggie when she was smaller. Well! Maggie has grown, and is now more than skilled in taking down the man-cat! Now HE's on his back spewing filth and foul out of his mouth for her to let him up!!! I find this MOST agreeable!

She seems to be teaching the kitten (Emily) as well. I guess Emily is staying. I had hoped this was a temporary thing, but the crate got put back in the car's house, and Emily now has the run of our house. I am NOT amewsed when she confiscates my spot next to Mama at night. I will have to work on that.

We didn't get any mouse meat for a few days this week. Mama said something about us getting too fat, and not eating enough of our kibble. Today she broke down and gave us each a bit of mouse meat. Most agreeable. I'm now going to sleep off my pouffy tummy!

Okay. I put up with it when she rescued Sebastian. We had strong words when she brought home pound purry Maggie. NOW she's gone TOO FAR ... She dragged home a basket case kitten. I get NO RESPECT!!! At least Maggie seems to have undertaken the care of this rug rat. Mama has had to put back up the closet curtain at least once a day because this undisciplined excuse for a cat pulls them down. sigh.

Meanwhile, she's half way through her radiation treatment, so maybe she'll feel better when it's all over. She's in good spirits, but she's tired all the time. That works for me, it means More Naps!

Misty,

I do not know why we have to have another cat. I mean, *I* am Queen, and that should be enough, right? but Nooooooooooooo, Mama comes home with a young cat. The good part is she has bonded with Sebastian, so they leave me alone ... unless Sebastian needs to beat up someone and then he remembers me. Humpf.

Mama took me with her in October when she went to PA to visit with her kittens and grand kittens. I was so special! I had mama all to myself for a week and it was just heaven!!

But we all sleep with Mama at night ... so I guess that's okay.

She had her first cancer treatment today. I know she doesn't feel well, but I will purr her to sleep soon.

    *
      Happy Holiday ..

Mama sez it's "Labor Day". I do not understand this. I do not labor!! I see to it, however, that she does. She must make more quilts. Making quilts is directly proportional to the amount of green paper she gets, and she uses the green paper to buy more things for ME. Pampered Pussycat that I am ...

It has gotten colder here the last two days. This means I must sleep on Mama more, to keep my furself warm. 'Bastian is on one side of her, I'm on the other. Daddy gave up and fixed up his own bedroom.

Mama also found an article on what not to feed us. Click here to read that. It's very important. While the food on your plate smells yummy, some of it is quite lethal to us.

We have updated our store on Zibbet for you to look at. It's time to think about your Catmas presents and stuff like that. And guess what, i've even joined Facebook!!

Mr. Kipling wrote a poem about a grand ball and a domino ... Pink Dominoes

"They are fools who kiss and tell" -
Wisely has the poet sung.
Man may hold all sorts of posts
If he'll only hold his tongue.

JENNY and Me were engaged, you see,
On the eve of the Fancy Ball;
So a kiss or two was nothing to you
Or any one else at all.

Jenny would go in a domino -
Pretty and pink but warm;
While I attended, clad in a splendid
Austrian uniform.

Now we had arranged, through notes exchanged
Early that afternoon,
At Number Four to waltz no more,
But to sit in the dark and spoon.

[I want you to see that Jenny and Me
Had barely exchanged our troth;
So a kiss or two was strictly due
By, from, and between us both.]

When Three was over, an eager lover,
I fled to the gloom outside;
And a Domino came out also
Whom I took for my future bride.

That is to say, in a casual way,
I slipped my arm around her;
With a kiss or two (which is nothing to you),
And ready to kiss I found her.

She turned her head and the name she said
Was certainly not my own;
But ere I could speak, with a smothered shriek
She fled and left me alone.

Then Jenny came, and I saw with shame
She'd doffed her domino;
And I had embraced an alien waist
But I did not tell her so.

Next morn I knew that there were two
Dominoes pink, and one
Had cloaked the spouse of Sir Julian Vouse,
Our big Political gun.

Sir J. was old, and her hair was gold,
And her eye was a blue cerulean;
And the name she said when she turned her head
Was not in the least like "Julian".

Now wasn't it nice, when want of pice
Forbade us twain to marry,
That old Sir J., in the kindest way,
Made me his Secretarry ?

So I have made sure Mr. Dusty knows I will be wearing a purple domino!!!

Misty, excited!!!

I can NOT believe it. I mean, why do we have to have that orange yowl box in the house. I mean, he walks around here meowing all the time. and he smells funny. he's got a collar now, like mine, with hanggie down things on it. i guess that means Mama spent some green paper and got those for him, which she wouldn't have done if he was going to go away soon. humf. and now my carrier smells AWFUL. I told Mama off about it too. told her she must buy me a NEW one and give that thing to the orange cat. Orange. can you believe it ??? ORANGE. Mama says he's "marmalade". And as if that isn't enough, he used MY LITTER BOX. At least she immediately scooped it an threw away what he did.

Would anyone like to have a nice Scottish Fold kitty?

mama took him away this morning. kinda miss the kid .. even though he smells, and he eats my kibbles. i looked for him on the back porch where she used to feed him, but he wasn't there. and there wasn't dinner in his dish tonite, either. and he's not in his crate. mama said she took him to the green shirts to be fixed. i didn't know he was broken. she brings him home tomorrow ...

daddy has to have a bone marrow biopsy tomorrow and he's skared of it, and he's been grouchy all day, and sniped at mama. i don't like it when he does that. she's good about it, but one of these days she'll get mad and rip his lips off or something.

Hello all ... purring good wishes to all of you for a good 2009. Last year was full of lumps and bumps, but this one will be better, right?!

Mama took most of the shiny things off the tree in the house, but she still has lights on it. I like lying under it among the train and houses. I single pawed took all the plastic icicles off the tree though. they were fun to bat and then they fell. The bottom branches all had big silver bells that made noise if i wasn't careful.

we still have our outside kitty what comes for dinner every night. I'm not too pleased about him, she's MY mama, and he'd better not get any ideas, but Mama sez we gotta feed him. So she does. He's a big orange tom ... she doesn't know what to name him. Any ideas???

I hope those of you who got my signature line of critter quilts for catmas like them. we've heard from Toulouse already, he's thrilled with his when his mommy lets him use it. SHE likes it too!!

purrrs and nosey rubs to all ..

I have been naughty, and haven't posted in awhile. I use my xanga quite a bit though ... http://www.xanga.com/Misty_Whispurrs. Mama has been in a funk, and i'm trying to cheer her up. there are quilts to be made! we have a store on Etsy, as well as our own webpage www.quiltedsquirrel.com and then click on patchworkcat (that's ME) for the kitty quilts. They make great Catmas presents.

Mama has been feeding the outside critters again, it's getting colder and harder for them to find quality food. the deer have come back, as well as the possums and raccoons. Of course there are always the squirrels. I want to go play with them, but Mama says no.

There's a dumb mouse who wants to come to the kitchen and eat my kibble, but i'm watching for him. he'd made a nice catmas present for Mama.

i love you all ... Misty

Didn't realize how long it's been since I've written here. I've been prett busy, keeping Mama's quilt business going. Thanks to Diamond Cat we've already had four orders ... and hopefully will have more! Be sure to get your own Kitty Kwilt. (www.quiltedsquirrel.com/patchworkcat). Of course if you want, you can have a quilt made for a baby, too, or a grandma's lap. I love my quilts. They're so nice for napping, and then Mama doesn't get upset when i leave my furrs on things!!

Daddy had back surgery 12/21 ... and it was a rousing success. BUT, during that last ice storm, he managed to fall, and now has to have the surgery all over again. NOT good.

Gramma T is still kickin', though not too hard at age 95. Mama took her to the hospital today because she broke two bones in her wrist. Never dull.

Grampa still lives with us, he'll be 92 this month!

Best wishes to all my furry friends ...

Mommy wanted to go to the quilt store, and then we went to another one, and then we came home. I watched out the window, and then I dozed on mommy's lap. It was so nice to have her all to myself for a few hours. At home there's so much going on all the time that I don't have much private time with her. Tonite I licked mashed potatoes off her plate, and sniffed at my cake, but I wasn't impressed with the cake. I am such a happy and lucky kitty. Everyone loves me at my house.

Mommy is sad though. There is a man she knows who is elderly and must move from his home to california near to his sons' homes. He still has three kitties. Two are elderly scottish folds, and the third is a random breed calico. They will have to go to the pound, unless mommy can figure out something to do for them. Their daddy just can not take care of them anymore. He lives in Mesa AZ, and will go to assisted living in CA.

Otherwise, it's been a good day.

Mommy bought a tree and brought it into the house! she hung big red socks up so that Mr. Sandy Claws can put stuff in 'em for me. This is all very exciting. And she's telling me the story about the baby that slept in the cow's food dish. She wrote the story to Flyser!Kitty a long time ago and now she's telling ME the story! would you like to hear it too???

My "kitty-son" asked me in an e-mail if his daddy's bringing in that funny tree that doesn't taste good, means it's time for that "Sandy Claws Dude" to come
again. Here is my (Mama's) reply ... I'm sharing it with all of you,
because a few who have read it were touched by it ... Maybe you know someone who would like to hear about the kitty who asked his Mama about Christmas. This is my letter to my little (kitty) boy...

Dearest Flyser ... yes, it's "that time again", but you know, Little One,
it should be "that time" all the time, all year long. Yes, Sandy Claws will
be coming, and he brings goodies to all the goods kiddens. But it's harder
on the kiddens what's don'ts gots a mommy or daddy a loves them. So, maybe
you could think real hard, and ask that Sandy Claws and the Man he reports
to, to watch extra carefully over the homeless kiddens.

Remember the box I have? (pulls box out of the pile of things that
have come in from the garage), you know, the one with the animals and the
people in it? Well, it's time for that, too. Here (makes soft spot for
Flyser on bathrobe skirt), you can help me. Your nephews have never seen
this box before. Would you like to help me tell them the Story? (takes lid
off box) ...

Let's see ... A long time ago, when a man called Herod was the king of
Judea, God sent one of his angels (pulls an angel out of the box, and a
figure of a young girl) to a young lady named Mary. The angel gave Mary a
message, that she was going to have a Baby. Not just any baby, but GOD's
Baby. Mary didn't quite understand how this could be, because she wasn't
even married, but the angel told her not to worry about it, God would take
care of everything. He always *does* you know ... (rubs kitty ears). Mary
told her boyfriend Joseph all about this, but she really had nothing to
worry about (pulls a young man figure out of the box) because that same
angel had also visited with *him* and told him that it would all be okay,
and that he should marry Mary right away. Which he did.

They had to go to Bethlehem to pay their taxes, and by that time it
was pretty cold out (puts white cotton for snow around the wooden barn).
Mary and Joseph arrived in town late at night, and couldn't find any hotel
rooms. But one nice man said they could sleep in the barn with the animals
(takes out cow, donkey, and some sheep, puts them in the barn). And
sometime in the night, God's Son was born (mama unwraps Baby), and because Mary didn't have anywhere ELSE to put Him, she wrapped him up nice and warm, and put him in the cow's food dish. The cow didn't seem to mind, and the other animals huddled close to provide more warmth.

Now, off on the hillside outside of town there were other men called
shepherds, who were taking care of their sheep. It was a lot of work to
watch out for the sheep, because there were 'yoties, and wolves, and other
things that would attack the sheep at night if someone wasn't paying
attention. There was a dog, too, running about, keeping the sheep all
bunched together (unwraps sheep, dog, shepherds, puts them along the side
of the fireplace mantle, where the "hillside" should be).

Remember that angel? (pulls angel from under Flyser's paw) ... well,
he came back again, and this time he visited with the shepherds. He told
them not to be afraid, but to go right away into town, and go to see the
new Baby that was in the barn, sleeping in the cow's food dish. The angel
explained that this Baby was to be the Saviour, Christ the Lord. (Mama
moves some of the shepherds and a few sheep toward the barn.)

Can you remember what happens next? (Flyser noses in the box and paws
at a large, lumpy figure). That's right, sweetheart, (kisses he widdle
nose), there were three very wise men, kings of other countries, who had
heard about all this, and had seen the star in the East that told them this
had come to be. They got on their camels, and headed off to Bethlehem to
see for themselves. They had presents, too. One had Gold, signifying the
wealth and riches due to a king; the second was frankincense, which is
stuff that gets burned and makes smoke ... some people believe that one's
prayers go to heaven, carried along on the smoke; and the third was myrrh,
which was a very costly ointment used when great kings were buried. All
three of these gifts represented things that would happen someday.

(Mama finishes putting all the figures beside the barn, Flyser paws at
one small bundle still in the box. With a soft chuckle, mama continues ...)

Ah! You remembered! Yes, that is "Sandy Claws". And see, he's kneeling
at the Baby's side, as He sleeps in the cow's food dish! That's to remind
you of the story of how many, many years later, Santa was trying to get all
the toys ready for the Big Ride. But he'd slipped on some ice, and broke
his leg. He was all upset, when there came a knock at the door. When Mrs. C
opened the door, there was a young boy, who said he'd come to help out if
he could, that his dad had been a carpenter, and that's he'd learned a lot
from his dad. Santa figured he didn't have much choice, so he let the kid
go out to the workshop and help.

Not too long after that the toys were all finished, in record time, no
less, and it was about time for the Big Ride. But the doctor had other
ideas, he said ABSOLUTELY NOT, Santa could NOT go. The boy heard this, and said he'd kind of figured that the doc would say that, so he'd fashioned a
special seat on the sled, so Santa could put his foot up on a nice soft
pillow. He said to the doctor "See, that way he wouldn't have to hurt his
leg, and I could do all the deliveries while Santa drove the sleigh." Doc
thought about it, and said it was okay, as long as Santa stayed off his
feet.

Mrs. C fixed up some extra sandwiches and cookies, and the elves
packed in all the toys and presents while Santa checked his list - twice -
to be sure they had everything. And before you knew it, off they went.

With the two of them ... the work was all accomplished in record time.
Santa turned to the boy and said "I don't know who you are, or where you
came from but you sure saved the day. Is there anything I can do for YOU?"

The boy said he'd like to show Santa the place where he was born.
Santa agreed, and the boy took the reins. But it had been a busy night, and
Santa soon was asleep.

But after a bit he realized the sleigh wasn't moving any more, and the
reindeer were munching on some hay that had been put down for them. The boy was no where in sight, but ahead there was a barn, with a soft glow coming from it. Santa heard the boy call out "In here, Santa ..."

Without thinking about it he hopped out of the sleigh, forgetting
about his leg. Then it dawned on him that it was all better, and didn't
hurt at all. How curious! He hurried into the barn, and that's when he saw
....

..... Mary, and Joseph, and the Baby who was sleeping in the cow's food
dish. "Santa, this is where I was born." Santa snatched off his hat, knelt down,
and worshipped the Son of God.

So you see, Little One, though Sandy Claws brings presents to good
kiddens, even he remembered that Christmas is Christ's birthday. That's the
time we remember the bestest Gift ever ... the one God gave to all of us,
even though we didn't deserve it. It should remind us that we should try
harder to think about other people instead of ourselves, and try to be
worthy of all we've been given.

(mama gathers up all the wrappings, and puts the box away, leaving
Flyser alone with his thoughts ....)
