Hope everyone out there has a safe & happy holiday weekend! It's still cool & rainy here, mom swears someone new took over controlling the weather and is doing a LOUSY job of it. We're staying away from cold water.

I'm keeping mom company as she spends her last week before opening her business stressing about things like not certain about the solidity of the contract she bought online for $20 from legalzoom, still needs to set up renter's insurance, just finished a meme contest and started a raffle on the business web site so needs to get a few shipping things (small boxes).

She wants to open June 3rd but will need to get up earlier the first day to pay the monthly rent. Our cable tv will be changing over to the company we already use for internet so she's no longer concerned about her internet changing, but once she has the $ she might ask for a faster speed.

Mom is going to hang with 2 legged family tomorrow and then Sunday she's gonna make rice krispies treats dessert for Monday's noon potluck. They're getting chicken & pizza and everyone has to make salad or dessert and bring their own plate and she's also taking her own drink (a can of Coke zero) so she'll take stuff down a little early.

After the potluck she'll probably go shopping with mom for baby shower gifts n stuff at Wal-mart. She's also getting back to her healthier diet and starting to get back to the gym now that the weather has improved.

Thursday she's got to prepare a s'more pie to take to a party on Friday evening. Then Friday she's going out for lunch, playing bingo and eating a freezer pizza before going to the party and toast the marshmallows on the pie.

When mom put the last refill in the genie she realized she needed to order more so that's just what she did. She even ordered a tunnel for me with a hole in the middle to peek out! They even threw in a can of Fancy Feast! The best part is it all came in a BOX! Ahhh!

I've been going through the tunnel and even the peek hole. She took the cubes apart and put 1 at each end.

I've only gone outside on my harness & leash once, didn't care for it. So we tried our hall, no elevators or stairs.

The weather is finally reasonable so mom has the window is open. Kitty like! She's going out of town just for tomorrow night for her brother's birthday party. She'll be home Sunday. We'll step out maybe Monday so I can sniff around outside on my harness. She needs to get her bike out of storage yet anyway.

She got her newest Taylor Swift merch today and just purchased her stage pit ticket to see our idol in September. She had to call her mom at work to put it on her card but she's paying her back. Now she has to sell her original floor seat, which she'll probably do on ebay in August. She'll have to pick up her pit ticket at the box office on her way into the concert. She'll be close enough to touch!

A nice picture book arrived a few days ago that she created online as a gift. Now she's waiting on the magnet to add it. There are several packages on the way to her. Plus her preordered CD & T-shirt combo shipped, the CD is released this coming Tues.

She's also been busy with business things. She got an e-mail that they already have the computer end of things (desk, computer, router, ext hard drive back up) and ordered the software. She designed & ordered her business T-shirt through cafepress. She set up her business cards & mouse pads on Vista Print & downloaded her legal agreement form on legal zoom.

She should have everything together and good to go by Memorial Day. She's already been moving things around in the living room to make room for the new corner desk. Once they have everything together they'll bring it to her. My role is restricted to supervisor.

This is weather safety week (ironically it is snowing today) and today they sounded the scary tornado siren twice. It's too cold for a tornado now but a warm up is coming soon.

For the early one mom and I spent a few minutes hunkered down in our bathroom. She hunkered down like a school kid over me in the dry shower stall and when it was over we resumed normal life - and she gave me treats.

The 2nd one was an hour ago. Mom had me in my Thunder shirt and had the harness on over that with the leash attached. Mom grabbed me and we took a short trip in the hall to the exit stairs (elevators wouldn't work in power outage). I've never been out of our apartment without my carrier so I wasn't sure what to think. We stayed in the landing between the 3rd and 4th floors (5th is the highest floor) and I hid on the stair under her legs. I tried going back up to the door but the leash wouldn't let me. She coaxed me back down and put me on her lap where I started shaking/purring so much she could feel it. We came back up and she gave me more treats.

The phone rang a few minutes before the drill but mom didn't know the # so ignored it. She will not talk on the land line in nasty weather due to lightning causing many problems in her past. We are glad the drills are done now (there's a fire drill coming at some point) and hope that there are few if any tornadoes. I like to sit in the window and watch and she's not going to let me when we have warnings.

Mom met with the work force lady early this afternoon. They approved the business plan she's been slaving away at the past couple years so now the fun begins. She tweaked the shopping list for the purchaser (they want the receipts and that's fine) so soon there will be more new things coming in BOXES. Yay, boxes for me to play in! She'll assemble her small corner desk without my supervision but I'll probably check it out when it's finished.

Mom offishially has her own small home based digital design business! She's not ready to open yet though, the software upgrade is expensive and the free trial is only good for another week. This is why she's plugged free pagelime editing into her latest web site creations, when they go online she can edit them after the trial is up. She'll have the full version eventually so will keep the files safe.

My role is office mascot (ah hemm masCAT), stress and comic relief.

I've never been there but mom was near there about 10 yrs ago on vacation one summer with her cousin and their grandparents. They went to Cape Cod and it was just so awesome. She and her cousin got a whole beach day on their own. Had I been around and on the trip I probably would've tried making the beach my big litter box hahaha.

Anyhow we were watching tv just after 2 pm central this afternoon and we didn't get much original programming because they cut in with the breaking news of the explosions at the marathon. Thankfully we don't know anyone there because mom is not a long distance runner. The closest thing we've ever heard bomb wise is either a sonic boom or fireworks.

Mom doesn't like loud things and figures that bomb would've done major damage to so many in earshot of that. We are keeping to ourselves and she is still attending her 2 concerts and maybe a MLB baseball game but will be very aware of who's around and of any suspicious looking things.

Mom has a relative down in GA having serious health problems that require surgery this week and was transferred to another hospital.

Mom is going crazy. She's been shut in without her bicycle since November last year. It is now mid April and the snow will NOT STOP COMING. HISS!

She's been researching apartments back where she grew up (GA). We're stuck here for quite some time but she went online and found a few pet/cat friendly places. She needs to be within walking distance of a Wal-mart/outlet area as she doesn't drive and of course wants to be safe living alone (just the 2 of us). Some places have a balcony. I would be wearing my leash & harness and not left out on it unsupervised.

She'll have to fly south at some point and see some of the places in person since she hasn't seen enough photos, mainly just floor plans. Yes there are bad storms (sometimes tornadoes/hurricanes) there but they do not last for 6 freaking months like the snow up here.

Mom ran to the local stores earlier today and got more food for us so we're ready to weather this nasty storm. We're getting several more inches of snow, possible thunder snow. We're just gonna cuddle & watch tv/movies together providing we don't lose our electricity.

The caretaker is coming to clean up the kitchen sink drain sometime this week and tomorrow there's a required safety thing for fire & tornado stuff. If the weather doesn't warm enough the risk of tornadoes will stay down.

She's still supposed to have a business meeting Friday but that might change depending on the roads.

Mom thinks I deserve the entertainer award because when I do funny things she bursts out laughing & giggling. She has a busy week ahead, but we should be able to share a bit of playtime & lap time.

Pizza should be coming within 15 minutes, she ordered just before 5 pm and it's about a quarter after. After that she's gonna get more comfortable and set up to watch & record the awards & show me some love before the show starts. I tend to interrupt when she watches movies.

Today was our least favorite day of the month (other than flow's arrival) - alarm test day. First the tornado siren went off as usual (still creeped out by that even in great weather) and then the fire alarm like a minute or 2 later.

Mom took some ibuprofen about 20 minutes before they went off and is still dealing with a minor headache. Her ears are very sensitive to sudden loud noises and now concerts are starting to seem louder since she doesn't go to them as often as she once did.

In a real emergency she'd have quite a time getting the Thundershirt on me so today I just wore my harness and then she clipped the leash and grabbed me and darted to the door. That will be our method of escape in the case of a real fire emergency (with ear plugs in her ears of course for the smoke detector, fire alarm and the fire truck sirens & horns too). The fire department is awesome at getting here in just a couple of minutes so we don't have to worry about a fire spreading too far.

My carrier is so big and cumbersome that its awkward to maneuver in tight spaces like an apartment stairwell so it's best for us to just get out with my harness & leash, though she probably wouldn't let me out of her arms.

She's trying to start her business and now worries about how to handle this alarm & siren day - probably put a notice up that no work on the first Weds of the month.

Mom has been busy on her computer the past few days. She's wrapping up the last sections for her business plan and gives up on applying for work.

She also made several bows for our furriend Luna the Fashion Kitty and will be sending them probably just after Easter for her birthday. She picked out some beautiful tulle & ribbon. I had the pleasure of watching her make them with her bowdabra. I almost got to wear one, ha! She doesn't know how they stay on kitties' heads so all she can do is hold one to my head to make sure the size is ok.

Mom spent Weds night online to see what Taylor Swift's set list is from opening night and played each song as it popped up on Twitter. She was pretty excited since she's going to a show much later in the tour. She took a look at the photos but has refrained from watching video, so there are still mysteries to come Sept 6th. She already has a plan of the new Swift tour merch to order in August and probably upgrade from 18th row to the stage pit with her rent refund.

Tomorrow night is the opening night of Kenny Chesney's tour. Mom is also going to see him so she hopes someone will update so she can listen to the same song being played while she browses for the newest merch. Shipping is free so she might order a couple things.

She also got some stuff ordered recently from petco and petsmart via their web sites. I'm getting a harness & leash and a squeaky mouse to play with. She also ordered a refill for the ssscat and a waterless thing to correct behavior issues.

It started out like any other day. Mom got up, took her prescriptions and gave me my food. We played together a while until my energy was worn down, then cuddled through the scary noisy tests of the tornado siren & fire alarm. She was petting me and saying its ok its not real just a test good boy.

Then after that I was still lying in my bed while she was getting things together to head out. I assumed she would be going alone as usual but nope, she put me bed and all in the carrier and took me to the vet. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I was due for the annual distemper shot and to try to figure out why I've been going pica lately. Mom's gonna put me back on Purina indoor and see if that helps.

Mom is considering getting a leash and harness so I can safely explore the apartment backyard once the snow is all gone and the weather is good. The screened window is great but she doesn't mind getting a safe way for me to go out a couple times a week - never in the rain.

There were $25 tote bags with a free beach towel, so naturally she picked the one with Meredith the kitty on the bag and it came with a giant beach towel covered with pics of that kitty.
I had a couple "hairballs" within the past hour. Mom grabbed part of the paper she gets every Saturday & set it under me and allowed me to get them out without making a mess on the carpet. She just cleaned the other day and I hairballed a couple weeks ago as well, so I got a prompt and thorough grooming with hairball malt treat. I also took a refreshing sip of water from my dish, she put fresh tap in it for me.

She's still trying to get it out of her head so she can have a few Oreos & milk.

The day wasn't all bad, we played a while in the early afternoon when I was all revved up and hypurr. I was chasing the laser on the wall and fell into my cardboard box! Mom burst out in a major fit of the giggles & had to wipe tears from her eyes.

And I got to inspect a purple toboggan sled. She noticed the snow covered mini hills in the backyard so since spring doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon (and her bike is still stashed away) she's gotta do something fun.
We are so excited to hang out with yummy snacks and enjoy watching the cute puppies and kitties this afternoon! This is our first time watching together since I arrived the day before the Grammy's. She'll have pizza/pizza rolls later with Coke Zero.

Mom doesn't care about football so will not be watching the real thing tonight. She'd rather sit down and get some productive business things done.

She'll be hanging with family next weekend when an out of state cousin is here but wishes they'd do something more than sit around & drink. The weather will actually be good so it'd be a good time to go out and play in all this fresh snow that keeps coming now.

Mom is seriously unhappy today. The reason is that her home area in north GA has been under threat of storms & tornadoes and 2 twisters have hit within 45 minutes of where she still calls home. She still has family & friends there and not everyone is online very much, so she's probably going to be making calls on speaker on her smart phone while washing dishes this evening, and then making a video during laundry.

I curled up and purred on her lap but she still bawled when she saw her only girl cousin down home was under a tornado warning, and the internet radio was playing "My Hometown".

Since nobody does much video chatting to her she's turned the web cam into a kitty cam to see what I'm up to without turning away while she's on the computer.

Mom caught up on cleaning the apartment. Then she took a break before rearranging the living room. She finally got rid of the recliner just last night so she had to clean up loose fur that was under there first.

She still has the swivel rocking chair so she moved that to where the recliner used to be, and bought a fold down ottoman, so now she can decide when she wants to kick up her heels. She was fighting with that recliner forever.

Anyway she thought the media shelves with movies should be located next to the tv, so first she moved the decor & book shelves out of the way. Then she moved the media shelves where she wanted. This took so long to do with taking everything off the shelves, placing them and then placing things back on them. When the media shelves were done she took a breather and then put the decor/book shelves where the media shelves used to be in the corner of the living room and arranged them.

In between the shelves she placed my kitty cubes, toy basket and other things I like to play with. She calls it the kitty corner. My sleeping arrangements have been moved into the bedroom, I eat on the floor of the kitchen and use my box in the bathroom. I just can't go in the pantry, bedroom closet or on the counters.

She just made a fresh batch of all chocolate frosted cupcakes (don't worry, she's not letting me near them) for her grandparents' 64th anniversary tomorrow. She had a lot of dishes to wash so decided she is treating herself to the pizza buffet tonight.

She scheduled herself an appointment with her doc on Monday afternoon for a thyroid check up. She has several of the symptoms so she's pretty sure it's that. Mom worked so hard on making the cute Christmas cupcakes with red Santa cupcake papers & picks. Pillsbury holiday funfetti mix & frosting w/ sprinkles plus the red & green sugar crystals in her cupboard.

Since its just the 2 of us tonight she made her food & ate, got the dishes cleaned up & showered. She has a lot of spending $ so when she goes shopping after Christmas she's going to get herself some new footie pjs and since my kitty cubes are on their last leg she wants to get me some new ones, maybe a newer bed. I like my bed now but it's coming apart and the stuff inside is getting out.

To-meow-row mom intends to catch up on housework. She prefers it to football and online discussions about football. She'd like to go visit her cousin's kitty since the cousin will be away for the next few days. She got a hint that kitty needs a few new play things, so mom is going to pick a few things from my basket of old toys I hardly play with anymore and only a couple of crinkle balls & what an online friend sent for me.
Mom got a little package in the mail today from another fan of Kenny Chesney. She sent the Taylor Swift Christmas CD (mom already has it but will keep it as a spare in case her first one ever wears out) and a pet stocking filled with new purple toys & catnip just for me! She put them on the floor for my prompt inspection & took some photos so she could tag the friend in them on facebook.

I've been so excited about my new things that I've been running around in the living room for the past half hour making mom laugh & giggle. She put some of the things away in my other stocking 'til next week so I'll get everything then. She plans to set the stocking on the floor & have the camera ready while I dig in to the rest of my gifts!

Mom needs to eat her frozen pizza supper within 4 hours and be ready to take a little ride around town to see the decorated houses. There's a bus coming to take some of the apartment residents around this evening to see the lights so she's excited for that.

Tomorrow is an off day so she's going to make her shopping lists for Thursday after the 2nd graders & give & take happen. She doesn't know whether Friday will be the last day but signed up for the yummy fish lunch that day that is brought to the building and will be cleaning this weekend.

The tv is off because we need a break from the constant tragedy in the news. Mom assumes it will hit her the hardest after the class of about 20 2nd graders have come & gone so will have tissue in her pocket.

It was pawsome being cat of the day yesterday and DDP today! I wonder which flavor Fancy Feast I'll eat this morning. I don't do the morning meals with the eggs n stuff.

Mom is going to have to bundle up and go out to the store to restock a few things before the next round of snow. Her prescriptions, more milk, my foods & maybe some fresh batteries for my laser pointers. Now that it's dark most of the time it seems like a good idea to play laser chase.

Mom wishes she had a warm fluffy coat like me but she's gotta layer up. It's below 0 now and will barely get above 0 today.

Update: Plans have changed. Mom is staying home all day today and having her medicine delivered by the pharmacy, she'll give them a check. The mail ran a bit later than usual but she sent out most of the cards today. She's having one of those tired all day despite multivitamin & 2 cans of Coke 0 so she's more willing to curl up & nap with me than do much of anything else.

If you look at my page now you'll see a lot of festive photos. Mom made it to the memorial for the cat lady neighbor (and the cats are mentioned by name in the obituary - Penny, Norman & Sweetie), skipped out on the supper there & came home to eat here and take some fun festive photos with me.

She's entered enough coke rewards to earn a $20 discount for cards from Shutterfly and had to get a minimum of 50 for the discount. We put the photo of us, the one of just me and she picked a nice one of Kenny Chesney smiling at her from last year's show for a little photo collage card. She's gonna try to send some out and dig out last year's leftover cards to give away as well. If we have any spare cards left we'll post a diary entry for our catster furriends to submit their address to get a card from us. She's got some forever stamps and will get more.

She's still waiting on her Swift & Chesney merch orders to arrive and now the cards as well. She's helping to keep the local post office open.

The memorial service is tonight so mom is trying to arrange a ride there & back so she won't have to walk out in the cold as it's getting dark. It's at the church practically across the road from her aunt's house so she can walk there when it's done to get the ride home.

Mom and her exchanged many cat stories when they bumped into each other around the building. Her cat saved her life when a fire destroyed her house earlier this year. She lost like everything but her and her cat were alive. She patted the lady on the cheek and that woke her up in time to get out. We think that kitty is a hero and we're happy to hear one of the family is looking after the cat in her absence.

Tomorrow mom and I are going to dress up and try to take some holiday photos but today mom just wants to go and say good bye to a cat lady friend.

Mom just found out that one of our elder cat lady neighbors passed away a few days ago. The cat had saved her life when her house caught on fire earlier this year and she was fortunate to find a place for the 2 of them to live. I never met the lady or the cat but when mom saw her they often talked about us fur babies. She lived a floor down from ours but she was a kind old lady. She even offered to give mom food for me that her cat didn't want but I had so much already so she gave it to someone else.

We're not sure what's going to happen to her cat but with the strict 1 pet per apartment rule it can't live with us. Hopefully someone in the family will take the cat like my mom did for me when my former owner could no longer take care of me. The service is this Saturday at a local church so if she can get there mom will go.

I can't believe how many times I've been a DDP lately! Mom was pretty busy today but managed to get a little Cyber Monday shopping done. She's got things coming from petco.com and the merch stores for Kenny Chesney & Taylor Swift (mainly calendars for the coming year). I think there might be a gift for me coming from Petco to go in my stocking!

She's already gotta buy some concert tickets this Furiday to go see Kenny again and is waiting for the announcement of Taylor's tickets going on sale for her planned show and back up shows. We sure do miss each other when she goes, but I'm glad she can get out and have fun. We reconcile when she arrives home.

The tree is standing with only the string of lights on it right now. Her mom stopped by with the clear fishing line and forgot to swing by her son's for a hook so the tree won't be able to fall if I get past the ssscat. She also dropped off a box of those red velvet ribbon decorations.

Mom is determined to make the tree as awesome as possible with totally safe things on it (other than the lights). She expects to have the tree totally done mid-week. She has a lot of mini ornaments but will be taking them to give & take to let someone else have them who has a little tiny tree.

I hung out in the bathroom while mom worked the lights onto the tree. She can't get that image of that poor cat in the Griswald Christmas movie out of her head, so prevent that from happening to me she used zip ties to secure the lights from the plug (taped into the surge strip now) halfway up the tree before wrapping them into the branches.

She also worked with her lighted gold star topper, got rid of the slack (zip tied that wire up) and put that plug from the light string at the top so I wouldn't be able to access that. She turned them on and it works. She loves the 200 multi lights up the tree with the gold lighted star on top. She couldn't use the paper roll tube after all because the first lights start within 2 inches of the plug. She set out her new LED tea lights she got yesterday and will have 1 inside a ceramic building with open windows.

She went through the rest of her decorations she hasn't put out yet and put some in a bag for her brother to take to his house. He will be coming sometime to secure the tree to the wall so she can add safe ornaments to the tree safely. It won't be like last year when she hooked ornaments everywhere on the tree, but she'll manage to make it look good with ornaments I can't harm and won't harm me and no hooks. She'll put the tree skirt on once it's secure but not ornamented yet.

We're just waiting for the sun to go down so we can turn down the lights and enjoy the beautiful holiday lights, well after she washes the dishes.

Mom's been slowly and carefully adding artificial and safe festive decorations to our little apartment. The fake poinsettia is on top of the fridge where I don't set paw (it's next to the off limits counter). Holiday plushies line the corner of the counter top. There are festive decorations on top of her media shelves too. The leftover brownies from Thursday are tucked away in tupperware in the fridge.

The 6 ft artificial tree is standing between those media shelves and a chair. The ssscat is positioned beneath the tree because thus far it is not securely anchored to anything. She got a fringeless tree skirt for it today and a lighted gold star topper so she's going to do the lights probably sometime on Monday - likely after her meeting. She knows she has plenty of safe ornaments to put on the tree and will not use hooks.

She used catnip spray on my cat tree next to the window and all over my cubes, toys and other allowed areas. I haven't had a chance to get into the tree because of the deterrents in place.

So Santa Paws when you visit purrrrlease remember to put things in my stocking for being a good kitty!

Mom isn't one of those crazy foolish people that goes shopping today. She got out of bed almost half an hour ago. She'd rather stay in with me and stay warm. We've been watching the snow fly out our apartment window. Just a coating, nothing too awful yet.

She's got plans to catch up on cleaning & laundry today. We haven't shared a holiday season (Christmas) together yet so she's gonna set up the tree without decorating it to see if I'm gonna do anything. It's surrounded on 3 out of 4 sides so she'd just need to secure it to the wall. She saved an empty tube from a paper towel roll to slip over the end of the light string and she has unbreakable ornaments she can put on higher branches. The ssscat will be under the tree and noisy cans on the furniture around the tree. The tree is a fake as well as the poinsettia.

She has a few cornbread muffins & brownies leftover so she's gonna brew some sweet tea after cleaning and enjoy a little southern comfort.

Mom is starting to strategically plan for tomorrow when she'll be in the kitchen to make a couple contributions for Thursday. First she plans to put her hair up in the hairagami bun and cover it up with a hair net.

I cry if I'm in my crate while she's busy in the kitchen so I'll be hanging out in the bathroom while she's busy. She's going to try to keep her clothes clean since she's making a couple different things she will be contributing to the holiday meal with her extended human family who live in the area. She does not want hair from either of us to get into anything, and will be storing the finished results safely to deter me from taking any samples.

She's gonna order out for pizza tomorrow so she'll have something to eat in between the cooking.

Thursday she'll just get up as usual, give me some Fancy Feast turkey & watch the parade & have some toast. If her cousin's kitty isn't hiding she'll spend a little time with her.

This is our first Christmas together and her first ever with a cat so she's going to deal with the decorating thing as it happens over the coming weekend.

Mom is on the mend and feeling better. She made blueberry muffins for herself this morning since she's got a lot of dishes to clean anyway later today. She's also gotta do laundry.

I just had an intense play session involving my favorite little yellow spring - she put it in my puzzle box so I had to fish it out first before I could make it my prey. She was laughing a lot since a spring is not natural prey enemy for us cats. After I wore myself out with that I had some more of my leftover Fancy Feast from this morning, now I'm settling down & getting ready to do what we do best - nap.

She took video of me working the spring out of the box so she'll put it online sometime soon.

On Weds mom will be busy in the kitchen making brownies & cornbread muffins for Thanksgiving day. She's planning to order a pizza for lunchtime delivery & eat it through the day.
I'd love nothing more than to be able to scratch the ear that was just surgically corrected at the vet a few days ago but mom isn't allowing me to do that. She's not gonna take it off me 'til the stitches come out at the vet next week, and I'll have to wear the Thundershirt as well when I return. I like the Thundershirt and mom loves what it does for me in times of stress. I'll have to wear it on Weds for the storm siren & fire alarm. Mom is gonna take me into the bedroom & shut all the doors, maybe that'll help reduce the noise for the fire alarm.

They used a laser to help reduce my pain and they did the biopsy punch incisions. Mom still has a scar on her left index finger as well as on her chin from when she fell off the horse, so I guess we'll be a matching pair with minor scars.

I'm eating, drinking and cuddling with mama just like nothing happened. I'm just wearing the cone so I won't mess up the ear the vet just fixed for me. I just want to scratch it! Mom is keeping a close eye on me for the weekend as my recovery is still just beginning. I can jump up to the window & the top of my cat tower but she helps me back down to the ground. She's also making fast & easy meals for herself so she can make sure I don't get into any trouble. The bill was a little over $200 and mom wrote a few postdated checks and left them there so she's not going broke on the fixed income we rely on. She feels a little odd spending so much time offline and not on the computer but she just wants to be sure I'm safe and the only reason we have to return is to get the stitches out. She's only offline when I'm not sleeping so she can keep a watchful eye on me. She helped me with my grooming after my Fancy Feast this morning.

I'm still not happy that she left me at the vet so no lovies so far. I have to go back in 2 weeks to get the stitches out but I feel pretty darn good now, better than before.

The update on Dusty

The vet took a look at his ear and decided that surgery is the best way to help him and clean out the ear itself, so they offered me 2 options where I could bring him home today or pick him up tomorrow. If I brought him home today I'd have to look after him so with the awards being on tonight I opted to leave him in their capable hands just for the night. He's probably going to be a cone head short term until he's all healed.

They're willing to let me make payments since I explained I'm on fixed income so I don't have to worry as much about paying it all at once. I'll make the first payment when I go get him tomorrow.

I'm sure he's looking forward to getting home and after so much time with him it feels odd not having him with me at home. I miss him and can't wait 'til he's back. I'm sure he misses home and his mommy. I left a T-shirt with my smell with him for a little home comfort.

I've left his food & water in his normal dishes untouched so he can pig out when he comes home and I scooped his litter box since I know how important it is for cleanliness after surgery.

Before the vet took him to their kennel I sat on a chair & placed him on my lap. He now weighs almost 13 lbs!

Mom is crazy excited to get to the out of town stores tomorrow (40 some min away) and pick up several new things from our beloved Taylor Swift and get her free b-day sundae at Culver's. She's also gonna get her witch costume stuff and possibly the litter genie (anyone have it?). She wants to go tomorrow because Tuesday she needs to finish up meeting prep stuff (and double check it all over) for an out of town meeting on Weds about changes to a web site she made as an intern (or extern since she did it from home). Before she leaves she's gonna make sure I have plenty of food, water and a decent litter box. She won't be gone overnight though.

She had quite the night out on the town with her mom, brother, 2 aunts and an aunt's boyfriend. They met at 1 place for starter drinks and to open presents & cards before walking to the next place. The weather was so awesome that they all sat out on the front deck for the party & watched traffic pass by. Mom wasn't even cold without her hoodie since it was around 70. Then after some drinks there as well as some eats they went to 1 more bar where mom drank her 5th free drink of the night. So she hasn't been feeling too good today but managed to get some groceries & go to McDonald's.

When she got home & put some things away she left out a couple paper bags. I inspected the bigger one first which was easy to get in and out of. Then I saw a smaller one and just had to shove myself in it causing mom and her mom to crack up! Mom took pics of just my tail & paws sticking out then got down on my level and caught me peeking out of it.

She also found a shirt that has my resemblance on the front and cat eyes all over with a black cat poem, a little gift to herself.

Mom spent a long time downstairs. First they ate, then played bingo. She didn't eat a lot there so had some oatmeal after she returned and washed dishes since she doesn't wanna make any food tomorrow on her birthday.

She expects to go out twice tomorrow and may play bingo in between the outings. She won't be leaving town though. Next week she's shopping out of town and has a meeting so she can properly update a web site she created for internship. She can do that work at home, just needs to know which option they want to go with so she can get it done.

Thank meow catster for making me a DDP today and thank meow for all the birthday wishes. Mom and I had a quiet day together at home all day on my birthday. She put off cleaning 'til the day after so I wouldn't have to face the vacuum or anything. We watched cat meowvies on DVD most of the day.

Her birthday is to-meow-rrow and she's going out on the town with her mom & aunts and any other family that wants to tag along & watch her drink. Then going to the pizza buffet restaurant tomorrow night. She's planning to walk to DQ for her lunch tomorrow.

There's a potluck tonight downstairs at our building for all this month's birthdays so she's gonna make funfetti Halloween cupcakes (she found Halloween mix and frosting at a store) & play bingo with neighbors. Pets aren't allowed in that room so I'll just chill & hang out in the apartment.

Next week will be busier for her. She's going shopping for many new Taylor Swift things at the stores about an hour away. She's also gonna get her witch costume stuff and look at that new litter genie. Next Weds she has to get up and get to ND by 10 am for a meeting to discuss changes to a web site she made during online internship. She's already found 2 places in approved spots under $30,000 via the web. She'd just need a loan for the difference from the $10k promised towards a house, so payments would be lower than rent.
Moment of truth: mom just feels stuck here in MN. She feels like she's just here because of family. She's not putting her computer information degree to use at all. She's been trying to finish up the outlines to her business plan and it's really complicated in some parts so it's still unfinished. She doesn't like the winter climate here and would much rather live closer to home (Dalton, GA).

She found an online news article that Chattanooga, TN (30 minutes from her hometown) is looking for techies like her so she's thinking of looking into it just to see what happens. If approved she'd have to get a house and we'd have to move. She found a decent house with 7 rooms total for $29,000 and she promises I will have my own room with closet access in it and will get a bird feeder & bird bath out that window for me. She's not planning to do anything about moving with winter approaching soon and would have to save up a bit for a down payment.

She likes the idea of living closer to home & using her skills. There's always something to do there unlike here where she just sits around at home most of the time. We're both feeling bored here. She's paying around $250 now just to rent our little apartment, so paying less than that on a house definitely sounds better. She'd have to hire lawn service. As long as she finds a good pet sitter for me she can fly north in summer to visit family.

She decided to send a normal e-mail to find out if web developers are welcome to apply. She mentioned that she's not enjoying it here because of no work for her and nothing much to do and she always liked Nooga. She included that she has to stay here through winter because the weather is so difficult. So at least she'll know for sure if she can apply for this. She wants to be south (for good) again by 2016.

I will be 2 years old on the 12th and mom is allowing me the privilege to say she will be 30 just 4 days later. There is a potluck supper for all Oct birthdays on the 15th but since pets aren't allowed in the food room I'll just have to stay in the apartment & nap.

Mom has put out some Halloween decorations. She just has a plug in pumpkin and covered the cord with protection. She's trying to figure out how to get me to be next to it for some photos but that probably isn't gonna happen for a while. I'm in my carrier/crate eating leftover Fancy Feast right now so maybe after this, a bit of self grooming and a quick nap I'll be more cooperative.

Mom has been busy after winning the telezapper on ebay to hopefully put a stop to those annoying phone calls. She put a new message on the digital answering system that friends & family are welcome to leave messages, anyone else must take the # off the list. She forgot to add the blurb about no calls before 9 am CDT so she's gonna redo it later today.

She checked her mail, grabbed a calendar page for the month of our birthdays so she'll know what's going on at our building (alarm, pest control, potluck, give & take etc). She wrote in our birthdays on it too.

After that she came back up, stashed me in my carrier & proceeded with making strawberry cupcakes w/ pink frosting & sprinkles for her granny's birthday tomorrow. So thank you Morticia for my cupcake gift!

She washed all the dirty dishes now so she's gonna go out for her supper. DQ is the closest & most convenient so that's her plan, unless she wants to go somewhere else & ride her bike or take the bus. She could call for pizza delivery but would rather get out & away from the phone.

And almost every afternoon or evening a political survey in FL calls although she has told them she's not a registered voter and won't be registering so don't call anymore.
It’s been 11 years and I can still remember being glued to the tv, watching the twin towers of the WTC smoking out from the fire caused when the jets slammed into them. Then the cut in to the Pentagon and the field in PA. I remember the mass confusion with the media until all planes were grounded.

I was still just fresh out of high school trying to find myself. I knew retail wasn’t my thing, so that afternoon when I got a call for an interview to do data entry I jumped on it and left my first job for the new one that lasted only 2 days. I dwindled around more jobs that weren’t me – such as fast food and still got stuck with that & retail despite my awesome computer skills I already had. I knew I wasn’t military material.

I’ve traveled some since that fateful day 11 years ago. Nothing has changed if you are driving (except for the higher price of gas). Flying is a whole other story – shoes off, no full sized liquids, subject to additional screening, etc. I always pack carry-on when I fly since I can get on with it easier and get off the plane, meet with my pick-up and get out of there. Every time the plane flies low in preparation to land when I’m on board I think of the 9/11 victims. I hadn’t flown before 2010 but I clearly remember greeting arriving guests at the gate in the airport, it was so easy when they allowed anyone through the screening process. To pass the time we rode the in-airport transit train in Atlanta before going to the right spot. We also went to the Chattanooga airport a time or 2. I prefer to fly direct between MN and Atlanta, no stops. It’s not as long as driving 20 hours but it’s still a long 10 – 12 day of travel with being on the road with a flight in the middle.

On this day in 2004 I attended a Kenny Chesney concert in Nashville, TN and attended the fan club pre-party across the street. I remember he had a flag in his hand on the stage at one point.

And 5 years ago today I officially became a Frozen Peach. It was still 90 degrees in GA when we left so I thought nothing of wearing a T-shirt, capri pants & sandals. When we got to 60 something degree IL I was feeling cold already, and then I experienced my first real winter here in MN.

It's a bit cool tonight so I'm curled up on my comfy bed (as you can see in the 2nd photo). This is nothing compared to the winter nights ahead, but mom is thinking of making hot cocoa for herself. She's trying to combat whatever is making her feel icky with liquids, rest, vitamins & my warm purr. It helps somewhat but not entirely.

I have a new fur-relative. My uncle Matt got a 6 yr old black lab dog so mom is going to meet him sometime soon. Maybe he'll join dogster?

We cats have it so easy. Sleep all day, play all night. We get food, water, treats and all we have to do is be cute.

To all the humans who wish they could be like a cat, don't. Mom is unemployed and feeling super bored. Whenever she can find a web developer style job nearby or online, they always pick someone else. She blames her disability. Today she's skipping out on a noon potluck with neighbors downstairs because she'll eat earlier and hopes to work on the outlines of her business plan while I do my cat stuff - sleeping. She's also gotta wash her dishes.

She still remembers going to NC 20 yrs ago for LD weekend when she lived in GA and they met with family from VA Beach at the halfway point and stayed at a motel with a pool. Then eventually she went to an amusement park concert LD weekend. Last year she went to see the MN Twins at Target Field for the 1st time on LD. This year is low key.

Thank meow for the DDP honor!

Mom shut me in the bathroom a couple nights so she could get rest. She volunteered the other day with preparing bags of food for starving children all around the world. Yesterday there was a purple party in the indoor party room because it was too hot to do it outside. It was a farewell party to 1 of the apt staff members so there was cake & ice cream. Everything was purple and attendees wore purple. Today is give & take so mom is gonna take a couple things she doesn't want and see if there's anything down there she does. Tomorrow she's gonna catch up on cleaning since she's feeling better.

I admit that I got in the bathroom sink (despite the ring of pop cans with the tabs inside surrounded it that were supposed to fall over & make noise when bumped) and now it's not draining right. Mom has notified the apartment office yesterday and is still waiting for the fix. She taught me a lesson that water comes out of the spout into the sink and soaked me. She can barely use the bathroom sink right now so she's glad the kitchen sink works, though she'll probably have that looked at too.

The caretaker is looking for blockages in neighbors' sinks at the moment and pulled a hairball's worth out of the bathroom sink so mama isn't very happy with me right now. I'm in my crate now so I don't get in the way & interfere with what's going on. I'll probably get treats later on though.

When I tried to seriously attack mom threw a favorite toy over in a corner to make me go there for a time out so I hopped in my box.

Mom didn't realize the oven had food residue on the bottom so when she was making the pizza the oven started spewing out smoke. She frantically opened the window & door as she turned on the stove top fan. The smoke detector didn't go off due to the fast thinking. She taped a note on the oven to clean it before using it again to prevent that from happening again. She can use her little toaster oven or microwave for the time being. She's looking up how to clean it safely (so we won't be harmed) online, it's amazing what baking soda can do!

Mom's been waiting for the time, money & camera price to be right. She finally bought her Nikon Coolpix P510 today that she's been wanting for a long while. She loves that it has pet portrait so she can get better pictures of me. It automatically takes pictures when it senses my cat face. The color is truer to life as well and picks up my lush fluffy black fur coat. Her Canon was ok but I looked gray or brown more than black in most of those photos. She's got 15 days to make sure she absolutely wants it so she's gonna use it to the max and try out everything she can (one problem, no more fireworks) on it both photos and video.

We hid out in the bathroom together during the worst. She knows how much I love to sit by the window and watch but it was so noisy I'm not sure that I would have. My current mom lost her grandma last Oct to cancer, so she's glad both of our birthdays are days apart in Oct so we can have fun together.

Mom's been watching lots of the Olympic games. I've mastered doing the high jump onto the 2nd from top cat tower platform before the games even got underway and always stick the landing. The window sill is my own personal balance beam. I'm not scored like the athletes but I think I would score perfect 10's.

Mom is going crazy just thinking of this very busy week. Today is her mom's birthday so she's going to the grandparents' apartment for some cake (and to give her a card from us). Then when she gets back she's gonna finish off her entries for the county fair that she has to deliver to the fair grounds on Weds afternoon. Tomorrow and Thursday she's gonna make the calls to get the research done. She's also gotta make cupcakes either Thurs/Fri for the big combo b-day party on Saturday for her mom and uncle, get laundry & dishes done.

I got a glimpse of her preparing to take a shower and ran from the litter box when she turned the water on, she just about jumped out of her skin but let me out to the living room. I'm sure glad I don't have to get wet to clean myself!

Today was the first Wednesday of a new month which means super annoying tests of the tornado siren and fire alarm. The fire alarm came first and caught us both by surprise then the tornado siren. Mom had the Thundershirt on me and had me in the carrier (she has to do that when either goes off for real). Once the fire alarm went off I moved a little but didn't cry, I just looked around confused about the noise. Same result with the tornado siren. Thundershirt kept me much calmer through that and we're going to put it to the ultimate test with some more things I don't enjoy (vacuum, fireworks next Thurs, maybe go to vet for back claw trim or at least show mom how to do it on her own at home). They're still working on the upstairs apartments so she's leaving the Thundershirt on me until the noise is done for the day, she saw how that affected me.

Once mom's ears feel better from the noisy mayhem she has business to tend to.

Mom ordered a Thundershirt for me because she knows there are more fireworks next week and I was running around like crazy last time they went off. Tomorrow is also the first Weds of the month which means those fire alarm & storm siren tests we both despise (the less we hear them for real emergencies the better). So mom is gonna put it on me a few minutes before the noise tomorrow and next Thursday. If it helps me we're going to keep it for vet visits and other unpleasant things.

At first I flopped down but now I'm moving more normally. She made sure I smelled it first and had a treat on it and in it and is giving me lots of lovies for wearing it so I don't mind wearing it that much.

Mom and I live in a little and mostly farm town far from big cities and with few major crimes. Mom and her family had an uneasy feeling when the victims were still mostly a mystery because mom has a cousin who lives in the Denver, CO area - probably not far from where the shooting happened! Thankfully the cousin did not attend that movie or was at any other movie in that theater when it happened. Mom is very fond of her birthday because that cousin is merely 12 hours older than she is and they both have a big birthday coming this October. Their combined ages will add up to 60.

I've been doing my absolute best to comfort her these past few days. She feels awful that other people in her age range were shot because she has a younger brother with the victims' average age (not counting the youngest and oldest).

She's thinking of going to the free matinee of that new toony pirate movie Weds afternoon in town. The mentally ill in our area are helped enough so she doesn't expect a pirate to burst in and fire a cannon.
The other night I got up on the dresser & knocked some unbreakable stuff off, then last night I got into the forbidden pantry where she keeps food, cleaning stuff and stores other things in there. Wow is she mad at me, considering crating me in the bathroom in the dark tonight for the past 2 nights of mischief! She can't do anything about the pantry door & tried leaving noisy pop cans in front of it but I got brave (or stupid) enough to break through that barrier. She's gonna talk to the caretaker and find out what she can do to lock it up that won't take too much out of the deposit.

Update: Mom put her 2 5 lb free hand weights in front of the single bi-fold pantry door and she has difficulty opening them without moving the weights, and since I weigh about 10 lbs she thinks (and hopes) that will prevent me from entering. She's considering putting a baby gate in front of the door if one will fit so the door won't open when I rub it.

Mom knew this was the night they would be shooting fireworks at the fairgrounds several blocks away for prairie pioneer days. I'm indoors only so Mom wasn't about to take me out. We're high up enough that we could see the sky ones and once they started I got really scared so mom shut me in the bathroom and enjoyed them. She's thinking of putting me in the bathroom all night (we only have 1 in our apartment) so I can return to normal. There won't be anymore fireworks until the fair next month and she'll put me in the bathroom a few minutes early.

She sure enjoys watching those fireworks with air conditioning, no bugs, weather, or smokers around. She's going to need ear plugs or loud music from her mp3 player at the parade tomorrow so for the sake of normalcy she's gonna take her player and blast loud music in during the emergency vehicle part of the parade. She can't wait for a pancake breakfast at the fire hall!

Mom is thinking of getting me the Thundershirt for the next fireworks show and to trim my back feet claws (front declawed). She'll just have to manage with ear plugs & her ear buds n mp3 player, we are so alike when it comes to loud noise. We don't mind if music is turned up but everything else sets us off.

She just needs to double check what she packed, go out for supper, shower & make sure I'm set up for the next 2 nights on my own and take the big bag of garbage to the chute. She worked so hard to clean yesterday and get things done so she can unwind when she gets home.

She's gonna leave a sticky note notice on the apt door that I'm here alone and who to contact in case of an emergency. She gave spare keys to an aunt in town that can be here in minutes. Sometimes neighbors neglect their cooking and smoke alarms go off. She has left feeding instructions on the fridge but will be leaving more than enough food out for me and a dish full of water. She plans to hide my treats around the apartment so I can have fun finding and eating them. Once the laundry is done she's gonna finish packing & round everything up together. Then she's gotta figure out her supper (she either wants to go to DQ or order in - pizza). Then take a shower & spend a little time with me (and make sure my food & water bowls are really full) since she'll be gone until Monday. She bought the tix in December before she knew I was coming to be her roomie.

It's her 15th time seeing Kenny (wishing she could meet him), 2nd seeing Tim & Jake and 1st seeing Grace. It's her first time in the sand bar fur real! She's been near the sand bar before but never in it. She expects crazy rowdy drunk people around her by the end of the night. She doesn't drink expensive venue booze at shows, she prefers occasional drinks with family and it's less rowdy.

She closed off access to the bedroom & bathroom where the spraying was done, and he said it's safe enough we could stay in so mom e-mailed the vet that he said it's safe.

They were supposed to come today but something came up. Just to be safe mom e-mailed my vet's office and they suggested that we step out for a bit when they spray. Mom is going to try to find out if what they spray could make us sick (they've come in a few times already & mom hasn't noticed any new health issues for her) and how long we should wait to come back in. There's a little lobby area by the elevators on our floor so we'll probably go there for however long we should be out of our apartment. It's just beyond the neighbor's apartment.

Mom doesn't want me going up & rubbing all over the pest sprayer person like I'd normally do with people that come into our apartment. She's a little more concerned now about leaving me home alone for 2 nights this weekend just after this little treatment. 1 of her 2 in-town aunts has keys so she might ask if she would mind coming to see me on Sunday afternoon.

Yay I'm a DDP today!

Today the pest control specialist is coming to spray all the apartment units on our floor so Mom is gonna put me in my crate with my breakfast so I don't interfere with them (she knows how much I love visitors) or get too close to the fresh spray. The weather is slowly returning to normal after that crazy heat wave.

*Update* the pest control specialist was unable to make it today but coming tomorrow. As long as it's cooler and it's not raining mom will open the windows and spray them herself, since she's seen bugs come in under the screens. They spray in the bathroom & another spot or 2 but never bother to spray the windows. They come once a month and spray a different floor each time.

Mom is so excited that the big concert (Tim McGraw & Kenny Chesney) is only 3 days away! I'll be holding down the fort (aka apartment) on my own again. After this one she'll be staying home & around town the rest of the summer.

Mom was in and out all afternoon. First she took the s'more pie down for potluck and brought too much of it back so she's eating as much of it as she can before the weekend. Then at 3:00 it was time for bingo, she played 2 cards & won 3 times (so she won her money back for today and the other quarter back from Monday when she only won 1 game). Then after bingo she came back into our apartment with the a/c on. We watched the Macy's July 4th and she put the HD channel version on just for the fireworks (and she was rocking along to Chesney & Swift's music) and it was amazing.

She doesn't feel like dealing with the heat just to play with her sparklers tonight and it's so hot that none of the usual crazies are throwing firecrackers or shooting fireworks. Mom's waiting for the Friday cool down to go out and light 'em up, she only does sparklers. She'll go out to part of the street dance & watch fireworks at her mom's Sat night then up as early as possible to head for the big concert at Target Field. She's been looking forward to this concert since December!

I changed my profile photo again to celebrate July 4th. There's a noon potluck meal tomorrow so mom is going to make the s'more pudding pie 1 more time for that. No fireworks in our town (unless any nearby house neighbors bought them). The next town over usually has a parade & stuff all day up to the fireworks at night, but that isn't going on until Saturday. Mom's gonna go have a little pre-concert fun at the street dance, then Sunday she's off to see Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Grace Potter & Jake Owen at Target Field. She is sooooooo excited! She leaves Sat night to sleep at her mom's and returns sometime Monday. Once we've reunited and had a little time together she'll be working on her concert pics from the standing only pit that surrounds the stage.

Next weekend is a 3 day local event with fireworks, parade, pancake feed & more. Not as fun as the concert but something to do in a town with nothing going on other than that and the county fair all year. Mom is considering entering photos of me for contest entry at the fair.

We have an excessive heat warning today so we're staying in and keeping cool. If this doesn't break with storms today it's gonna be a warm night.

That's not the case for us up here in Minnesota, though the humidity can even make the 80's seem yucky. We hope y'all are staying cool in this crazy heat wave. She just went out for lunch & getting some errands done (she got me 4 more cans of Fancy Feast gravy - my favorite!).
I was a little too amped up at 5:00 this morning (Mom nearly got out of bed to put me in the bathroom to calm down in the dark). I pulled the blanket covering the good chair halfway off, knocked down the tension rod with towel (sewn on) off the window under the a/c and made some noise. Mom doesn't think I need to see out each of the 3 windows in the living room, and if it weren't for the towel on the rod the afternoon sun beats in 'til sunset and makes it harder to cool our apartment in the summer. I was in my crate (except for eating & going to my cat box) from 9 am to noon for all the trouble I caused.

She's gonna resort to leaving my cat bed on the chair since I'm not loving it again lately & will be taking the towel & rod down from the window at night. She tries to play with me before bed but I don't always feel like participating. We cuddle on the recliner with the tv on.

I got a notice about a July 4th photo contest so Mom set up some patriotic props on the re-covered chair and I sat there with all of it for a brief photo session followed by a tasty treat!

Thank meow catster for the feature and my furriends for the support.

Mom went to the movie this afternoon at the theater. She went out the back and was attacked by a crazy insane psycho bird that kept circling and diving at her. Good thing she's too big for that crazy bird to take her, she came back through the front side of the building and saw that stupid bird attacking another person out walking. Wonder if its got a nest nearby or what.

We just rode out a severe storm in the past couple hours. No tornado but still a lot of wind, hail, rain, thunder & lightning. I'm too brave and I scare mom by going by the window so she crated me and we stayed in the bathroom together.

Apparently we don't have hot water in our building 'til the plumber comes tomorrow. Mom can't wash the dishes tonight and will have to wait for it to be on tomorrow to get underway with the cleaning. She's considering DQ for lunch.

First she had to take a little bus from the apartment to her mom's house then they had to drive 20 minutes to the town where the charter bus was waiting to go to Target Field for the Twins vs Phillies game. It was a 3 hour trip there and she didn't get to her mom's until 1:30 this morning, then storms & noise at the farm co-op next door kept interrupting her sleep. She was just too tired to make it all the way home until late this morning.

Mom is gonna leave treats & toys scattered around for me to practice hunting, take that toy mouse! MEOW!!! She's also laying down the law that I can't have any furriends over, no partying with the neighbor pets, no making a big noise or mess. She'll leave the noisy pop cans out (empty coke cans with tabs in them) to remind me of where I'm not supposed to be (like counters & closets) but otherwise I have full run.

Mom was way overloaded up for her brother's party so she's taking as little as possible to go to the game and will be sleeping at her mom's when they get back after midnight, since she left her air bed stuff & a gown there.

Mom is either gonna take me to the boarding place with the cage or leave me home with her aunts or cousin coming to make sure I have food & water & don't make a big mess. She's gonna ask the office for more keys, she didn't like calling 911 when she locked herself out the other day.

Mom got her backpack filled up with what she'll need this weekend while she's not home. She doesn't wanna leave me home alone in the 90 degree weather without a/c or a fan, so I'm gonna stay with a friend and her 2 cats. My tupperware container is packed with my Fancy Feast, 2 flavors of treats and a baggie of some of my dry food I eat at home. I'll be there tomorrow night for just 1 night but I'll be back Tues & Weds night so mom can go to the Twins game with her mom on Weds night. I'll be home again from Thursday until it's time for the big concert a month from today.

My nails got trimmed today at the vet so I won't scratch anyone until they grow again. I only have them on my hind feet.

We do have a/c and fans (and heat for winter) but mom has to control them with switches for them to work.

I was so anxious about my nails getting clipped on the back feet (I'm front declawed) that I wouldn't even hold still for the vet to hold me and clip. She had to hold me up in the air and have someone else clip. Mom's willing to try it again at home if she can get someone to hold me while she clips the tips. We were done in minutes.

I also get to hang with her friend and her cats Tuesday night and Weds while she goes to the game. Her friend has to work until later in the afternoon and the bus leaves too soon. I know we're gonna miss each other a lot! She's gonna sleep in a T-shirt tonight that she won't mind sending with me so I can curl up on it.

Thanks again to catster for featuring my diary. I hope my furriends enjoy it.

Mom is gearing up to go to her brother's first house for the party on Saturday. It is gonna be HOT outside and she won't be home to run the a/c for me so she's taking me to a friend who will kitty sit me for the night. She will return Sunday for me but will leave spare food there because I will be going back on Wednesday when she goes to the baseball game.

She copied down what time of day I eat my little variety of wet & dry foods & treats. She made sure to add that I don't like my back feet handled or my tummy touched. She also added her cell phone # in case her friend needs to call her.

We just hope everything goes smoothly and the 2 resident cats accept me at least short term. I understand there is a younger kitty with playful energy so I'm sure we'll be romping around together!

She has a few scratches on her arms and a leg so she wants my back claws trimmed or at least dulled down. I'm declawed in front and she doesn't want to declaw me in the back so I can take care of my itchy spots, but she's tired of getting scratched (mostly by accident). She's gonna get me the emery cat for starters (she has nobody to help us with trimming unless we go to the vet again). A facebook friend offered to send her emery cat things but is laid up with foot problems and mom can't wait any longer, she's tired of walking around all scratched up!

I really don't like my back feet touched. I growl like a dog if they're touched! This means clippers and other things that require that probably won't work for us. She'd only clip the very end of the sharp tip off to avoid the quick, but I just prefer keeping my paws to myself. I squirm too much for her to hold and clip.

Mom is getting more excited because she will be seeing Kenny Chesney for the 15th time next month at the Twins baseball park. It will be her first time in the sand bar (the standing only pit area at the stage) and she will finally get to use her ticket she bought herself last Christmas.

She's so excited for the show that she's going to watch all the tv stuff he's gonna be on this month (and record it to watch again later when she has more time). She also pre-ordered his new CD (she has all of his previous work), 8 x 10 photo, calendar sets of 2011 and 2012 (she has Taylor Swift posters on display but has a collection of his calendars since 2005) and a new goldenrod tour shirt on the way. She even ordered the Billboard Magazine with him on the cover and feels the need to hunt down the new People Country magazine. The good news is she only paid for shipping on the CD, the rest was FREE shipping.

She paid off the pet deposit last month because she knew she would be buying things. Since Taylor Swift isn't touring right now, Kenny is her other love. She's seen Kenny, Tim and Jake before but not Grace.

I wish she could go backstage and meet him already! She got to meet Taylor Swift last year and she's the biggest name in music right now. Love her or not she is a superstar.

Don't worry, she still has plenty left for rent & bills to be covered and to restock my food when it gets low again.

Mom will be busy the next couple of months with a lot of things going on. First up is a birthday party at a friend's this Friday and she's gotta make the s'more pie again by request of the b-day girl. She's gonna take my blanket for her cats to smell me and bring something with her cats' smells on so I can smell them.

I brought a good sized plastic tupperware style container full of my old dry food when I moved to my new home, but it is empty and washed out now. Mom is going to fill it with ziploc baggies of my new dry food (I've been eating it just fine for several weeks), treats & Fancy Feast so it will be my on the go food box when I go out. That should make it easier for mom to take me and my food! Mom could never figure out what the old stuff was so she transitioned me to what she could find locally, I'm on the Purina Griller's Blend.

Then she's going to her brother's house warming party next weekend (already has the gifts stored in pantry to take) and spending the night while I sleep over with the friend and her cats.

Then she's going to a MN Twins home game on June 13 (a night game) and I'll be at the friend's again so mom can get her sleep when she gets home late. That's the bad thing about living 3 hours away from the city.

After that it calms down a little until July with the Independence Day parade & Kenny Chesney concert at the same ball park where the game is. Then local prairie days & the fair to end off a busy & eventful summer, plus all the monthly parties in the 3 season porch we can see out our window.

She doesn't know how she's gonna do all this and get business stuff done too!

It's been a rather chilly day for late May, mid 50's at best and real windy. I'm cozy with my all over fur coat on but mom doesn't have the coverage like me and was shivering & sprinting down the hall because they left the windows open. She hopes the heat will be on tonight since it should be 30 - 40 tonight (that's in US Fahrenheit) so we'll be cuddling & snuggling to keep each other warm.

Mom also hates the cold because of her congenital hypothyroid condition. She is on medical treatment and constant testing for it, but still has trouble dealing with anything below 65 degrees (or slightly warmer but with a lot of wind and rain), plus the fact she grew up in the state of GA and is more used to a warmer climate.

PS Yes that is a new purrofile photo mom took of me the other day. I love watching the world from the window!

Since mom got together with the family last week at her cousin's daughter's birthday party she's not doing anything all weekend except keeping an eye on me and designing for a new web project she just started. She's pretty sure it won't pay but it's something for the portfolio. We're listening to the dude's music right now and it sounds good. She set it up so that admin can easily make changes to it online without her so it won't be as much work for her. I like having her attention and that's just not as easy with the old fashioned HTML based sites she has to update all the time.

We're in for more heat & rain, maybe storms this weekend. We hope your weekend goes better than ours. It looks like rain is on the way here again now so the windows are all shut, but I'm still able to look out through them. There's a potluck on Monday at lunch time so she's gonna make a s'more pie for dessert - graham crust, chocolate pudding pie filling & small marshmallows on top. Should be yummy for the people allowed to eat it, I already know I won't get so much as a lick of it.

Some of our neighbors graduated college today so there's a lot of commotion with parties going on, but they're all down on the ground level. Mom graduated a year ago tomorrow (didn't attend ceremony but has the degree) and had lousy weather at her grad party, and she couldn't even get a job as a local web developer which is what she learned to do! She's trying so hard to get her business going sooner instead of later but other things keep coming up and distracting her from the goal.

She just went to the local Pizza Hut with her mom & brother (it wasn't crowded like they feared, most parties are where the grads live) for an early Mother's Day. She gave her mom one of Taylor Swift's mother's day cards with a copy of the recent Lionel Richie concert from the tv. For my mom, I'll try not to hairball again soon and behave like I should. I might even give her a massage with my paws, I think she'd love that!

All that hair had to go somewhere, and it wound up in the kitty cube both as regular hairs that came loose and in the form of a hair ball. I feel much better now. Mama used baking soda & fabric+air refresher for the smell then promptly wiped it up with paper towels. The way I've been shedding lately and trying to clean it up myself I think we both knew it was coming.

As an indoors only cat, it's easy to get bored despite the basket full of toys, tree by the window, condo, cat bed, and kitty cubes. Mom bought some bubbles and showed me how to pop them in the air so I gave it a try. I'm turning into a master of popping bubbles before they pop on their own, but there are always so many more than I can pop!

She took video of me going after the bubbles and took a still frame from it when I was about to get one!

Looks like my diary is being featured all weekend! Mama gave me another flavor of Fancy Feast to celebrate (I believe it's the cod feast). We missed out on the super moon thanks to the super storms. We didn't even celebrate Cinco De Mayo, but if we did we probably would have tried to play the popular card game Uno together.

Mama made herself chocolate covered strawberries and she won't let me near them cuz she knows chocolate is bad for animals. They're in the fridge to keep them good. There are lots of strawberries & chocolate left so she can make more.

She also got me a new set of toys with more shiny sparkly looking balls (similar to mylar) I love to play with and a twitcher that is battery operated and runs for 10 minutes when you push the button on it. It has a dangling toy and it's super fun to try to catch it! She puts it away when I'm not interested in it so I don't break the toy off the cord like last time!

Also thank meow to my furriends for the comments and messages.

Terrible storms, spider crawling in the window and me, a black cat. Mom feels like she was in one of those scary movies! Anyway the storm got real bad about 10 to 10:30 last night (so bad they called a severe warning) so Mom and I hung out in the bathroom until we learned that it was just narrowly gonna miss us but hit the next town where her mom & brother live. She slept about as bad as the first night I was here trying to get to know my new home.

She believes her mom & brother are ok but that the power might have gone out due to the storm. She always gets e-mail and hasn't yet today. There were others with tornado warnings again about an hour away, so she's relieved that did not happen here. That would have made her sick knowing it would have just missed us and gone down to her family.

It was still quite a sight watching it out the window. I love to be right at the window but mom thinks that's pretty dangerous so I watched it from inside my carrier from farther away. It started lightning again after mom laid in bed for the night so knowing what a goofball I am she put me in the bathroom without any windows. Funny how calm and great the weather can be between the storms.

We dodged that bad weather yesterday that made tornadoes around us. Had it hit us we would've heard the storm siren just like the test an hour ago and would've sought shelter.

Minutes after the storm alarm test ended then it was time for the painfully loud fire alarm test that mom and I hate. She is very smart (like me) and got the idea to vacuum through it. I hate that vacuum and hissed when I saw it come out but I stayed put on the window and allowed her to proceed after moving things out of the way. She was already done with the living room when the alarm finally went off but she turned it on again and swears it helped her, I think it might have helped me too.

Of course we don't ignore the real alarms, only when they test them. Now that the monthly alarm tests are done and Mom is done vacuuming (for now, laundry break in that room 2 floors down) I'm finally curling up to take my cat nap. Mom thinks she might take one too since I woke her up an hour before her alarm this morning. I know she gets up at 9 but I think she should be up around 8, we fight about that.

The weather has warmed up drastically today and we're under a tornado watch until 10 tonight, that started at 3:00 this afternoon. So far we're fine, but we did have a little bit of small hail. Mom grabbed the camera and then I jumped up in frame for a closer look. It could've got worse so she shut me in my crate after filming for a few minutes just in case we had to take shelter.

The sun is out again already here but it's not so safe east of us. We're glad that we're gonna be fine but she's going out on Friday near where the bad weather is right now.

Mom is in a great mood today because her concert tickets for Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw at Target Field in MN have finally arrived! She looks forward to being in the sand bar & taking lots of pictures of them.

Depending on who is willing and able to take care of me a couple of days I will not be home either. I'll either stay with someone in our family, the friend and her cats if we get along when she's at the game or a pet place near her Mom's. I sure don't want to disturb her pre-show rest and she doesn't have a spare key for anyone to help me out while she's away. Our apartment gets very warm if not hot in the afternoon sun and the a/c works but has to be run manually (flip switch or turn dial).

I know we'll both have a good time so we can't wait for July! Back to my cat nap, meow for now!

Now that I'm used to being here I love it! I even stretch out on my own comfy bed more often now. Spring is here and I'm seeing all kinds of Cat TV life out the 4th story window! Mom keeps them closed now because we have air conditioning (with built in fan) for warmer days and she is so allergic to the outdoors.

Unlike other cats my mom knows, I sniff everybody that I don't know when they come in and rub against them if I like them. I'm a people cat. Her mom is allergic to me so I can't rub against her and she doesn't visit much.

Mom is planning to leave me with a friend and her 2 cats when she goes to a baseball game in June so we'll find out how we 3 cats get along. Mom will send my food (including treats), a blanket, the shirt she wore. She visited the boarding place today and decided the cat room is cute but really small, but they have giant kennel crates with shelves in them. It's right off the grooming room but they keep the cat room door shut so the dogs can't scare us. There were a few dogs there but no kitties. Mom worries about leaving me home alone because sometimes the neighbors' cooking sets off the smoke detectors and there could even be a fire!

Mama didn't feel too good this past week (she thinks it's a viral/bacterial infection), especially last Monday. I was concerned to see her laying in bed unusually early and running to the bathroom frequently.

I'm also not feeling like myself. I'm not interested in playing as much, I want to sleep lots and I'm only eating a little and I cough a lot when I'm done, so mama thinks I have a hairball. She put some butter on my paw last night that I licked off so we're going to give that a try before resorting to more drastic measures. We both hope to be feeling normal soon, but if not we're going to visit our doctors.

Mama also needs to go in for a dental visit, eye check up and lab work for her under-active thyroid she was born with so they know her medicine is working. She hopes it's the last one for a while, it's like getting stung by a bee over and over.

One is a purple mouse with a springy ball tail and a ball on a track I can't seem to get out, it just goes around when I bat at it. Another is a mouse that "runs" when its tail is pulled. The last one is a remote control mouse that we both enjoy playing with. I've caught its tail and flipped it! It only lasts a few minutes between charges but it sure is fun!

Mama knew it would be a scary day for me so she kept me in the carrier during the storm and fire alarm tests. Then we took the bus to my new vet for a quick check up, shots & a microchip implant. I didn't like the microchip implant but mama wants to make sure I'll return home if anything happens. It would have been much worse if mama wasn't right there with me at the vet's table comforting me.

Mama picked today to clean and vacuum. I hate that noisy thing, so when I saw it come out I hissed at it before it was even on! Mama put me in my carrier, shut the door & vacuumed the other side of the apartment, then moved me into the just cleaned bathroom to finish up in the room I spend the most time in - our living room. I'm still hiding even though I don't hear anything. She never liked the vacuum when she was a little girl so she hid in her room when her mama vacuumed.

She's washing my new bed right now and I'm going to see my new vet tomorrow right after the big loud fire alarm. Even mama hates that alarm because of her Asperger's, her ears are almost as sensitive as mine!

When I got to my new mom's apartment I only had a carrier, floor based toys & food & treat snacks. I didn't have a cat tree or a bed of my own since I preferred getting in bed with my former owner and I was used to eating on the counter.

Since I've been with my new mama the past couple weeks she's bought a plastic mat to catch spills of my food & water, a litter track catch mat, my own 2 story condo, ssscat for the counter, a brand new cat tree (I tore the ball off the dangle string the first night) and now I have a plush bed of my own. The pet deposit is insane ($250) and she has only paid $50 of it so far. I also need to visit my new vet on March 7th like it or not. Mom thinks it will be good for us to get out & not deal with the overly loud fire alarm test and storm siren test back to back.

There's a blizzard warning tomorrow night so I intend to curl up & sleep through most of it, maybe try out my new bed. Meow 'til next time!

I have been with my new mama for 2 weeks. I only had toys that could be played with on the floor. She bought a cat tree just for me! It's placed by the big living room window so I feel like a king when I sit on the tree & look down from 4 floors up. I also enjoy curling up for a nap in my own condo. She also got a mat to catch the litter from my paws to stop it from getting everywhere.

We've been at war over the kitchen counters but I have the feeling I won't be getting on them much anymore. They smell like bleach, are covered in tin foil and there's a scary motion sprayer up there. Plus I can't jump on the stove without getting wet!

Yesterday a crazy neighbor left food on the stove and set off the smoke detector. I was so scared, but mama helped me into my carrier and we went downstairs for a few minutes. Mama found the person responsible & told her so she dashed up & put an end to the scary ordeal. That's all for now, gotta get back to my cat nap!

I had a good life going in Forest Lake. I was adopted as a kitten by an older lady who loved me a lot. Then recently she started getting sicker and was unable to keep me. Luckily there was a younger lady who wanted me so I moved in to her 4th floor apartment and I'm adjusting well. There were some scary noises a couple days ago and I didn't like them so I hid under the rocking chair. The noises kept coming so then I climbed up into it.

My new mommy got me a 2 story condo just for me as well as a new feather wand toy I love to play with. I brought all of the toys I already had and I enjoy a good game of chasing the laser dot, it's so much fun! I follow my new mom all over & rub against her legs all the time. I'm adjusting to the few new rules like staying off the kitchen counter, out of the pantry, and out of the closet. The rest seems to be fair game. Gotta go take a cat nap - YAWN!
