Hey, it's us, your favourite clinic cats. We are sorry to break the news that this will be our last post. You see, it's not because we don't love it here on catster, but it is because today is the last day we will be seeing the food provider. And since she is the one that helps us write our diaries we won't be able to update you on our lives any more.

It has been a long time coming, we hear tid bits from all staff once in a while saying that they want to leave. It is finally the food providers time, unfortunately she told us she doesn't have a back up plan right now. Please keep her in your purrayers that hopefully she will find something soon!

Note: this is just us (Simon and tony) , Blade and Moppie are here to stay.

We've just been talking to Tao via Facebook. He asked us to update everyone on how Calie and him are doing.

Tao is not feeling well today, he hasn't eaten all day. He has also vomited 8 times today. As most of you know if us cats don't eat that usually means we aren't doing well and need to see the vet! Tao also thinks he has a fever.

Some of you know vets in Tao's area are not very common. Tao's Mom contacted their vet trying to make an appointment but there was no answer. We hope they will be able to contact them tomorrow and get Tao some veterinary treatment!

Please send some big strong purrs for Tao!

Calie fell off the balcony again this evening. They believe she is okay but are not able to get her in the dark. By what Tao's Mom said it sounds like she may be stuck and/or unreachable?!

Please purr that she will be able to be rescued tomorrow morning!

We hope they will both be okay. Please keep those purr Motors going for them.

Thanks,
Simon and Tony

Hey, thought we'd update you guys on clinic news. Things have been hectic around here for the staff, for us clinic cats its just the usual, Mol. We help here and there with the patients. Mainly keeping those kitties in the cages awake, hehe, we like to come say hi. Although the staff would say we're being mean.

About a month or two ago one of the staff was injured/bitten by a dog and was MIA for a month. They short staffed at that time so they got pretty tired after a while of continuous shifts. In the dogs defense he was hurting and they were trying to take an xray. I believe the owners did say he he was a fear-bitter.

Lately we've seen many raccoon attack patients. We are saying this partially as a warning to you as well as your parents. Stay away from the outdoors!!! Most were outdoor cats, one was one that just went out on the porch. There was even one or two small dogs that just went out in their back yard!! Sounds pretty scary! We love all of you and want you to stay nice and safe.

Lately we've also seen lots of patients with blood in their feces or that they are vomiting blood, not sure why so many right now. If you ever notice that in your pets its best to contact your vet as soon as possible.

We had a very critical case in last night. Simon and I took it upon ourselves to keep a close eye on him. It was a big dog. When he came in his heart was so slow the staff needed to revive him, had him on ECG for a few hours. Over night he started getting a bit more conscious. All in all he was doing quite a bit better by morning but had to go to their regular vet for continued care.

On a note of how Simon and I are doing. We have been getting a bit sick off and on. But staff did bloodwork and xrays and found nothing. We also have blood in our poop, they can't figure out why. But whatever it is it is affecting both of us. Again its an off and on thing, you really don't need to worry about us, we feel fine 97% of the time. We have loving and caring staff that want us to stay healthy! Although I myself have to admit that I hate medicine! It doesn't help me feel better - I get very angry with the staff. Mol.

We hope everyone is doing well. We apologize for not being around. Just holler and we'll be back in a hop skip and a jump.

Today is Simon's birthday! He is now 11 years old!! Wow, my partner is getting old! Mol.

Anyways, its a big day here for Simon. The food provider isn't here today but she said she'll bring us something tomorrow night when she works. The staff got us 'soft paws' this week, that is the nail caps so we can't scratch the chairs. Not much of a present, everyone is asking if the staff painted our nails (they're blue). Plus the staff still won't let us scratch the furniture, does that make sense to you guys?

We are very thankful for all the pmails and gifties you've all sent us for Simon's birthday! It means a lot to us. Thank you so much!

Happy Mothers day to all you kitties and all the mothers out there!

Well, there is no Mothers here at the clinic but there are STAFF!! Happy staff day to you!!

Things we are going to do for the staff today:
1. warm up their seats
2. warm up their printer
3. welcome all the customers coming though the door
4. watching the patients
5. warming up the weight scale for the patients
6. ask to be fed (They enjoy feeding us of course!)
7. Well.... that's about it. Can't spoil them too much now can we?!

There is a cutie Pomeranian staying here at the clinic over night. He doesn't look like an ordinary Pomeranian, he has a bit of a fox look to him. The food provider and other staff think he is adorable. He is super shy, he is excited when staff come near the door cause he might get to go out but also cowers cause he doesn't want to be touched.

last week a stray kitten came in! The food provider was assuming he was probably the same age as Blade when she got him, about 2 weeks old, maybe a little older?! The food provider nursed him through the night until the spca could come pick him up and find a foster for him.

Everyone stay safe and healthy! Big purrs to those who are going through ruff times right now. We are thinking of you!

The past two night have been pretty busy here! Yesterday after 6pm we had one patient after another! Two had to stay the night, one had surgery and got to go home. There were two dog attack victims, one had to stay and one needed surgery!

The one that had to stay (and is still here at the clinic) is a maltese cross, it was attacked by a bigger dog. There is no obvious tears of the skin but apparently he grabbed and shook her. So now the poor pup can't walk properly. We're thinking it is an injury to the shoulder or a brain injury.

The second dog attack victim was a larger dog. He had two big deep gashes that needed surgery and drainage tubes put in. He got to go home once he woke up from surgery.

Tonight there is a dog who got into mushrooms! Note that mushrooms are toxic to pets, so just be careful. This dog is in bad shape, with lots of bloody diarrhea.

There is also a cute Spca stray kitty here. Nothing is wrong with him. The food provider keeps saying how much he reminds her of Blade. He's crying for attention, he needs some lovin!!

The food provider stole my chair...

Over and out,

The food provider was working today and since it was nice she opened the back door! She closed the glass/screen door so that we could listen to the birdies outside and sit in the sun. It was really nice having fresh air coming though the clinic. Sometimes it just smells too much like DOG and not enough like CAT!!! We need to air the place out and start fresh again, Mol.

Saturday is a hard day for us cause the clinic is open longer on that day so staff comes in earlier. Which means we beg for food and don't get it cause their waiting for dinner time!! How could they! Aren't they supposed to feed us when we ask for it?

We had a 5 month old puppy today, turns out he was stepped on. Poor pup. He was in a fair amount of pain too. There was no obvious break on xray but it may have been a bit of a fracture.

Just when the food provider left, a Dove came in!! Tony was super interested in getting into that exam room, Mol. Apparently their cat had attacked it, so the owner will be adopting it to give it a good home. Sounds like they will need to keep a close eye on this burdie, hehe.

Mol, we had a puppy come in tonight who got into chocolate - the staff thought he was super cute! Of course cats are so much cuter then dogs so they were probably just trying to make him feel better. If it was a cat on the other hand it would be another story, mol.

For any of you who live in a dog family, we can't stress enough not to let your dogs near chocolate (unless of course your trying to get back at them), but for cats too, although we are usually smart that way. This dog got into a bag of chocolate kisses (mixed with almonds), the owners did not know how much she got into, and turns out she got into a lot more then the owners thought. Plus she puked up some fabric as well!!! Where did that come from? Dogs are weird aren't they?!

Anyways back to the title subject. The owner is a new dog owner, and as I always do I came to her asking for pets. She started backing away freaking out, Mol. I guess she isn't a cat person. Anyways it was pretty funny, it was well worth the cage time for the rest of their visit, hehehe.

Haha, plus when they came in they saw tony curled up in his bed up front. They asked if he was real!!

There was a cat yesterday who was sick. Once the owners left he stepped up his game and went into aggressive cat mode. Tips for future reference, if you don't want the vet to touch you hiss, growl, and bite them. They won't touch you unless they really have too! Although the downside of this plan is, it makes everything they do seem worse and they make you go off into lala-catnip-land!! It may sound nice but after witnessing it second hand you should know they get away with a lot when you are in catnip land. So follow these instructions at your own risk.

We've had a few bunnies come in in the last few days, I guess they are a little late for Easter, mol. We don't get bunnies here too often, I think we've had two bunnies and a guinea pig as well in the last week.

Anyways, OVER AND OUT.

There is always so much going on here, but we have one story in particular we want to share, but of course we are not going to say it right away or that will spoil it!

Lots of changes are going on here with the staff, good changes and not so good changes. Etc.. There is one new lady, she is a cat fanatic, well lets just say she is our favorite, Mol. She lets us sleep on the chairs, where the other staff just take us off. When the dryer is done she lets us get comfy in the warm blankets, and gives us treats, can't forget about those!

Sometimes it is super busy here at the clinic and sometimes it is slow as molasses! This past Tuesday overnight there was absolutely no one in, so the food provider decided to sit and read for a little bit. Tony went and cuddled with her! Lets just say he'd not the best cuddler. Usually when he has enough he'll let you know by giving you a little bite. But he stayed with the food provider and stayed getting lovin like a pro! He then proceeded to sleep in her lap for about half an hour. Hehe, it was quite cute.

Anyways now to our interesting case! Might seem a little scary to you but remember this was a dog, not a cat, mol. Owner called in saying their dog had bit the bars of his cage and he was now STUCK!!! They said they'd try get him out but otherwise would come in. 15 minutes later they arrived metal bared crate and all. That poor dog was stuck in there all right. The doctor went strait to sedating him so that he'd loosen his jaw enough to get him out. Did they get him out at this point? Of course not! They proceeded to cut the cage wires all around his head and then very carefully had to cut the piece of metal stuck in his mouth. Finally they got him out! He had a puncture wound on his chin and also a slightly bleeding wound in his mouth. They sent the dog home safe and sound along with the cage, broken and no longer with lock. The End!

Its the first for our clinic I believe, or at least the first for this doctor that was on duty.

As of right now, we need to take our middle of the night nap, we'll try come back for more stories soon!

The clinic here has been super busy!! We haven't been around much, but we're still here.

A few days ago someone called into the clinic in the middle of the night, they had a chihuahua in labour! That night we had 7 other patents as well. The doctor called the other doctor to come in and help with surgery, the food providers job was to revive all the puppies! There were 5 puppies, and guess what! They all made it!! Ok so the food provider had a little help after a while, one was hard to revive but pulled around after some work. The owners were so happy!! MOL. They didn't think that one would make it as it was already stuck in the birth canal before they came in.

Last night a dog came in the middle of the night, the dog had surgery a few days ago and seemed in a lot of pain. So the doctor gave a pain injection and talked to the owner about all the details.

There was a very sick cat here on the weekend, he was brought in by the SPCA. He had a very bad upper respiratory cold. He was snotting all over the place. We didn't like him very much... but he was all right. He was sent to the SPCA after the weekend, we aren't sure about what will happen then.

The food providers Dog Stewie was in last night. She is worried about his paw, there is a lump on the side of his toe and it has lost hair and sort of looks infected. There are a few things that it could be, so for now she will be treating it with panalog (helps for infection, and fungus related problems) and hopefully it will get better. If it doesn't go away we may have to send it away for biopsy. Please purr that it heals soon!

We are short staffed here, they are looking for someone, but won't hire anyone until the staff finishes a manual on how EVERYTHING works in the clinic! It is one BIG project, and doesn't look like it will be finished soon. Espessially since the doctor keeps making the staff re-do parts of it.

Anyways, lets just say things are a bit tense here. But we're good as always, I enjoy my naps in on the weight scale and Tony loves his naps up front by the window. And as always our food tastes awesome! The food provider doesn't serve it fast enough!

We got a DDP today! Thanks to the diary lady for picking us as one of the DDPs.

Sunday was a busy night for our clinic. We had one dog with a GDV (bloat) which unfortunately didn't make it. There was another dog that had been attacked by a dog which the owner thinks was a pitbull but isn't sure, he had a small bite wound which we stitched up, but you'd be surprised of how much damage it did underneath! Anyways he is fine now, we just put a drainage tube in with it so that will need to be removed in a few days. There was a few other patients as well.

Soon we will be leaving on a pirate ship! MOL. We have made two separate pages for us mainly for this event so that we can comment separately - just to make things a little less confusing.

We've got a secret admirer!! Okay, so it's not what you think... Somebody has been dropping stuff off at the clinic for the last few days for us! So far we've got a new bed, some new toys, the staff took the dog toys home cause we can't do anything with those things, and some new food dishes! Okay so the food dishes are those unlimited food bowls which we won't be using (cause we're on a diet...) but it's the thought that counts right?

Last week Tony and I got in a tuff. There was a feral kitty that the staff had here and they make us very angry, so when we can't take our anger out on them we take it out on each other! We got into a few serious screaming cat fights (which really scared the staff) Tony even ripped out a chunk of my hair! Now I have a bald spot to show for it... The staff had to try keep us separate, but slowly it got better and we'd just avoid each other instead of going after each other. The staff didn't do much but separate us but the food provider pulled out the feliway that the staff never uses and tried it out. Within two of the shifts she worked we were all better, she'd like to say it was all her who helped us be friends again (more like acquaintances..) but she hasn't told the staff she used it. It is a our little secret, MOL.

Nothing overly interesting lately. Except SPCA is closed down and under lock down, MOL. A few of their staff have gotten mysterious rashes (which they think is sarcoptic mange) so they have been closed since thursday to prevent spreading and also in case it is something else. MOL, MOL, MOL!!!! We have had a cat of theirs here for 3 days now, they didn't answer our calls at all to come pick him up and we wanted to know why and now we do.

A dog came in today who just had a lump removed. The owner didn't think he needed a cone so they didn't put it on. Turns out they got home and he had ripped all his stitches out! Now they got them redone and have learnt their lesson. Note: when coming out of anesthesia they can be drowsy for the day so you may think they don't need a cone but once they are awake things can change.

Thursday morning there was a dog in with pancreatitis...

Today there is a cat who is very lethargic, blood in urine, possible kidney problems.

That's it for tonight.

We realized we haven't told any clinic stories in a while. We know you guys enjoy hearing them - its better then experiencing them right? Sorry about not writing for a while, but you can blame the food provider cause she got all caught up in kittens, MOL. She is also at the clinic with us a lot and she doesn't come on Catster at work since no one else knows about it. Yes, it is our secret, the staff will never know how many friends we really have. MOL.

This past Monday was a holiday here. On us BC-ers call it BC day but on the calendar it says Civic holiday. It was a super busy day/night. The food provider worked the night shift so all the patients are usually the ones that need monitoring overnight.

Late that night a small dog came in, probably a chihuahua mix. Anyways she was in labor, and there had been some difficulty. The doc gave an injection of oxitocin to get the contractions going. So two were delivered naturally. There was a third though and the doc decided we needed to do a C-section. unfortunately the third one didn't make it... We tried to get him to start breathing but nothing came. The staff was trying to revive him for like half an hour or more!! Okay so the staff couldn't find a heartbeat half way through but the owner kept coming to the back so we continued to try even though it wasn't very hopeful.

The SPCA brought in a cat right before all this that was also in labor. She had had three kittens before she got to the clinic and the fourth was at the clinic and didn't make it. She was a cute kitty though.

That night there was a giant dog in the back too! It was a great Dane. He was so big that the staff looked small taking him out for a pee break.

There was also another kitten, was about blades age maybe a little older. Same colouring too!! But this guy had white paws where Blade doesn't.

There was two cats and a dog and they all had to be transferred to their own vets in the morning when we closed.

Tonight there was another SPCA kitten, this one was much older. Maybe 16-18 weeks?! Its hard to say... She was pretty cute too.

And there was also a cute dog in last night. The name of the breed escapes me at the moment... Malamute? anyways he was a younger fluffy dog. We don't think he enjoyed his clinic too much though.

That's it for now!

The food provider has been exhausted with work lately. She keeps saying she wants to tell the dr but never does. She thinks there won't be anything they can do about it this month... The thing is last month she was told she had to work extra but she put up with it because she thought it was temporary but this month is worse and she's looking up against it so much.

Anyways that is why us and the kittens haven't been writing in our diaries as often as we should. We're keeping up as best as we can.

Can you believe someone sent an EVIL kitty into the clinic last night!!! It does NOT belong here at OUR clinic! It wouldn't have been so bad if the staff would have been able to get it into the cage properly. But instead, it got loose!! This is Not Acceptable!

Okay so this cat is a feral kitty, most likely lived outdoors all its life. But it has decided to keep attacking this man's cat. So he went out to get a raccoon trap and trapped him in that!!! So the staff thought it may be easier to just let hi out strait into the cage but couldn't take the trap away and close the door quick enough and BAM he was out! He ran up to reception and to the back and ATTACKED US!! The staff threw us out of the room because we were getting in the way and then preceded to catch this evil cat. It was a chore and luckily it didn't get up into the ceiling or something... They put it directly into the shelters cage so they don't need to deal with it again today to pick him up.

The staff even offered it food and water! That kitty doesn't deserve food or water!

Well now Tony is all in a huff! Tony is now attacking me and the staff too! The staff put him in his cage until he calms down. Hopefully he'll be better today...

Anyways, that is our excitement for the day. Thanks Diary Lady for picking us as one of the DDPs. I hope Tony calms down so we can enjoy our special day!

I was tagged by Tink MoneyPenny, thanks for tagging me. Its so much fun reading everyone's answers. ...

I was tagged by Tink MoneyPenny, thanks for tagging me. Its so much fun reading everyone's answers.

1. Meow! Are you a noisy kitty or a quiet kitty?

Tony: I am a very quiet kitty, I only meow when it is time for food.

Simon: I also am very quiet. I am known to meow a whole bunch when I am hungry. I want my food early!!! I also make loud noises when fighting with Tony.

2. Litter box! Cover your business or let some other kitty cover?
We have newspaper pellet litter so it is not easy to cover. The staff don't give us much.

Tony: I don't cover very often, unless you count going out of the litter box and throwing all the blankets from my cage over the litter box to cover my poo. I don't always do this but its usually when the staff is leaving in the morning and I have to stay in my cage through out the day.

Simon: I try my best to cover. I paw at the sides of my cage and make dirty streaks everywhere, this is in attempts to get the staffs attention to clean the litter box/cage and also hoping some more litter will come so that I can cover properly.

3. Happy! Favorite Daily Routine?

Tony: Naps, stealing the staffs chairs and more naps!! I also love playtime, both with Simon and our toys. Oh and stealing food.

Simon: Naps, I like napping by the front window where everyone can see me. Sitting on any papers the staff are currently working on. Asking for pets when the staff are busy typing on their puter. Going up to all the clients for pets and especially to those allergic to cats. I love my food, and whenever I hear cans of food opening I go see if there is any for me.

4. Hiss! Least Favorite Routine?

Tony: Nails. Being restrained in any way. When I can't get the food bin open on my own.

Simon: Getting nails trimmed. Not getting food. Not getting attention.

5. Ding-Dong! What do you think about visitors to your house?

Tony: I don't mind visitors, Sometimes I welcome them and sometimes I don't.

Simon: I love visitors, I AM the Welcoming comity! I go up to all the clients and soak up as much attention as I can.

6. Friends! Do you like other animals?

Tony: I don't mind other animals, we go and meet them all the time. I don't usually stay around very long.

Simon: I also don't mind other animals. Sometimes I like teasing the dogs that don't like cats, hehe.

So now it's time to tag, so I'm tagging Gump, Callie, Smokey, Finney, and Tiny tot. If your reading this consider yourself tagged! I want to see what all your answers are, so I hope you can play, but if not, don't worry about it!!

Everything is well here. We've been napping in all our favorite places, eating our favorite food and zooming all around the clinic. The other day we had a big sugery in, I think we posted up a picture! It was a GDV dog (Bloat - twisted stomach where both ends are blocked off). Surgery went well and the dog made it! Since it is such a big surgery sometimes depending on the dogs health condition they don't always pull through in the end. But he did!! Yay!

Nothing special happend on Canada Day, we were open all day but the staff didn't really celebrate while they were here. But having the clinic open all day means we can be out all day! So that is celebration enough for us! Lots more attention.

We hear once in a while that many of you kitties are on diet plans. To set a good example for the clinic we are on a diet, and we've lost NOTHING!! We need to keep our mouse pouches full, customers pay more attention to us that way!

Whew!! The food provider just freaked out a little cause someone pulled in to our parking lot real fast! Looks like the mail guy is hear a lot earlier then usual. He always makes the food provider panic, MOL!

purrs and hugs,

It was supposed to by my (Simon's) pawrty yesterday but it ended up turning into a going away pawtry for one of the staff members. She got a job 4 hours away where she will be working as a vet where as here she didn't get many vet shifts. We will all miss her very much.

yesterday was the day I had to get my blood tested. The staff try to test my blood once a year, both to see if I'm healthy and to test the blood machine to make sure its getting everything right. The food provider wasn't there so maybe the staff will tell her the results.

We took staff photo's during the going away pawrty, we won't add them on here because we don't have the pictures handy right now and we have no permission of the staff members. Plus this is catster, I don't want my staff humans taking over our page!! MOL.

Everything is well otherwise, we just added a few new pictures! There was a budgie in, it was healthy but must have gotten out of their owners house.

Take care efuryone,
Untill next time,

The food provider just found out that it is my birthday TODAY!!! I am 10 years old now, whoa, where did the time go? Tony is just a young one of 2 years old but we don't know when he was born exactly. The food provider is going to ask if we know his gotcha day so that will be his celebration.

The staff is throwing a party for me this Sunday! It is going to be great!

It is kitten season here and we've been seeing lots of little ones. One staff has taken 2 kittens home, one was old enough and they adopted it out right away and the other had a broken femur (the very head of it) so her brother is taking care of it. They are going to wait and hope it heals on its own since it is a young kitten it is possible... Otherwise if it doesn't it will need to go in for surgery. (which all the staff and friends will pitch in to pay for).

Another cat came in last night (stray), it had kittens on someone’s porch so she brought them here. It was a beautiful grey (I suppose some would call it blue) and there were 6 grey kittens with very faint tabby stripes. A different staff decided to take them home. They were only a day old and we could have sent them to the SPCA but we don't know what would happen to them. They are overcrowded with kittens and the staff have heard bad rumors that have led them to take them home to care for them instead. So one of these kittens passed away yesterday morning unfortunately but the staff was mentioning that they didn't think he'd make it. He was VERY skinny and his head and nose were funny shaped, the staff that took them home tried to bottle feed him and revive him but he just didn't make it...

The food provider adopted Blade as most of you know by now, but she has just taken in another kitten about the same age. It came in pretty much skin and bones (and a lot of fluff, mol)they had to wash him off because his back end was all dirty and matted. So now the food provider is FOSTERING this kitten and will find him a good home when the time comes. (She will talk more about it when she helps Blade write his diary).

We had a few kittens earlier as we've mentioned, one that the food provider tried very hard to adopt but once she got Blade she found out he could have been contagious with something, she didn't want to compromise Blade's health as he was very young. This was the very cute and playful neurological kitten we have a picture of on our page, the food provider doesn't like thinking too much about him because she doesn't think he had a very good fate. Other kittens that have come in are mostly fosters with sick kittens or coming to make sure their foster kitten's are okay.

One of the staff's young dog had a bump (mole looking thing). She had to go into surgery yesterday to get it removed... just in case. The staff sent it off to get tested for cancer.

Otherwise everything has been going as usual here. We've been getting all our naps plus more. The food provider got a much better laser pointer then she had before so now we love it! The food provider took the turbo scratcher away because we never used it when others were there and they thought we didn't like it, apparently Blade is loving it at his place.

Happy Birthday to me!! I'm sure I'm going to have an pawesome day! One of the staff has aready mentioned that she is going to bring something to work for me tonight. I'm sure the food provider is going to spoil me with lovin until we close this morning.

Basking in the attention,
Simon and Tony

We're enjoying the feather on a stick toy that the staff bought us!!! Its a lot of fun, the staff keep playing with us when they aren't too busy.

We've been practicing Musical Chairs at work, practicing if we ever have a game of musical chairs with Finney! We be's takin over the two chairs in the back of the Clinic. The food provider takes Blade to work with her and gets up to get milk ready for the little one, and we steal her seat. She doesn't like it very much! We suppose since its food time for the little fur we shouldn't get in the way but its just too much fun. We can't resist.

The food provider won't be in for the rest of the weekend. She has taken some time off to go camping. One of the staff accepted in taking care of Blade for the weekend for her so he'll still be around a bit.

See you next week food provider, We'll Miss you!!

We want to apologize to Lacy in advance... We know you are having a party on saturday but because the food providers gone the staff won't let us on the computer. We are sorry to miss it, but we will be at the next one. have a good one.

This weekend has been super busy!!

Friday a little duckling came in again, except this was one lonely duckling where as last time there were more. Ugh but the staff put him in the highest cage, all we could do is watch him from afar. One of the staff raised Simon up to the cage to see what he'd do and he tried to stick his face in as far as he could but he said he still couldn't reach the little duckling.

Also a young foster kitten came in, the foster parent noticed blood in the poop and it had vomited as well. The kitten was in very bad shape and refused to eat any food, the temperature was also super low. The normal temperature is usually within the 38C but the kitties temperature was 34c. Which is very low!! She was also very skinny, like she weighed a lot less then she looked. The food provider tried to describe it as picking something up expecting it to be heavy only to find it was half the weight expected... Make sense? Anyways the kitty stayed overnight and went home to the foster parent in the morning.

Later another kitten came in. It was an older kitten maybe around 10 weeks, he looked a lot like Blade. Someone found him in a ditch and called the SPCA to come get him. He was incredibly vocal. He looked like he wanted a lot of attention. He was also super hungry and loved the food the food provider gave him. T'was funny the next morning one of the staff called the food provider freaked out because she thought the food provider forgot Blade at work. She had to explain that it was just another kitten that came in more then twice his age.

On Saturday when the food provider came in she came into another SPCA dog that was having a lot of trouble breathing laying out on the floor in the back. We took x-rays and found that the dog had what the dr called pneumothorax, it is when the chest gets filled with air around the lungs. The dr took out 3Liters of air out of the chest!!! Wow, where did all that come from? The dog felt so much better after that and was breathing normally for the rest of the night. Apart from that he had some big gashes on his legs which will need to be flushed and stitched but the SPCA only likes us to the minimal treatment in some cases so do the rest.

The food provider had to stay 2 hours late to help with a surgery come in. A pitbull attacked a small dog. Had large gashes to the neck that needed surgery to close up. The food provider left when it was all done although there was still another patient coming in... There was still another staff in and most everything was cleaned up from the surgery so she thought it should be okay if she left. She was exhausted...

Also there was a guinea pig that came in in the middle of the evening. Was found beside a dumpster somewhere in a box. We felt bad for the little guy but happy that he was here safe and sound.

The staff bought us one of those feather on a stick toys and we've been playing with it too. The staff set it up so that it is on our path to our cages so that we can play with it. Other times the staff play with it with us.

We've got to get some rest now, who knows what tomorrow night will hold.

Take Care and stay healthy,

The food provider came in with the kitten again tonight!! I was sleeping on the cat scale and they wanted to weigh him, so instead of taking me off they put him on here with me. I licked him and they all thought it was cute so I stopped when they pulled out their cameras.

They were all debating on how old the kitten is. When he came in they said he was 2 weeks old but they are now thinking he is older. He has been gaining lots of weight and is getting a little chubby. According to internet sites since his ears are open and he is walking around a little he is about 3 weeks.

Anyways, one of the staff took him home cause the food provider says she has a busy day tomorrow and can't bring him with her. The other staff is very excited to take him home, she is one big cat lover too!

The first thing we heard after she left (through text) was that the kitten pee'd all over her, MOL. Well it had been 3 or more hours since he had gone last, but they were supprised because they've been helping the kitty pee and poo all this time.

The food provider is sitting at the computer missing him and looking at pictures of him...

Not much in tonight. Only one patient coming in and leaving again. We'll see if anything else comes in but it is unusual for furs to come in past 3am but it does happen on occasion. We're just hanging out with the food provider then, enjoying the peace and quite.

Sorry we haven't been doing a good job at keeping up with everyones diary's lately, the food provider hasn't let us on because she's been busy. We've been reading as much as we can but only commenting here and there. Hopefully we'll get some more time soon and we'll catch up more.

We need to help the food provider clean now, so we shall be off. But maybe we'll be back on later if their is spare time to catch up on some more diaries.

So much commotion at work tonight!! ok, maybe not the commotion your thinking of. Well the staff are all smiles and whispering about something. What's going on?

Then the food provider comes rushing in and guess what they handed her? A KITTEN!!! Okay so they must have been in cahoots with each other. This is a two week old kitten and was supposedly almost run over by a lawnmower!! So at this point the food provider said she'd foster it and maybe depending on different circumstances she 'may' adopt it... Okay so she admits to have a week spot for animals in need, can you blame her?

The food provider took the kitten and a bit of kitten milk home with her and will be taking care of him 24/7. She is planning on making a page for him and adding pictures tomorrow.

He is a little orange tabby! Any name suggestions are welcome. :)

What a busy day today!! It is Victoria day up here for all you kitties that don't know. Anyways, holiday means we are open 24 hours and all the calls that go to regular clinics get forwarded to ours so we tend to get more patients in on those days.

So we actually have about 15 cages here at the clinic. Well actually minus 3 that are filled with towels and blankets, and well minus 2 that are our cages. And 2 other cages are high and are only used in special cases... So lets say we have 8-10 cages. I suppose that doesn't seem like too many but its not very often that there are tons of patients staying for a while.

There were 6 patients there when the food provider left, 3 of them were SPCA and 2 were patients that needed to be monitored and on IV fluids all night, and one dog that just got out of sedation to clean out its big dog bite wounds. The staff were answering calls all day and there were a couple in and out patients too. As well as a domestic bunny :) the food provider had fun talking to the owner cause she has two bunnies herself.

Oh and before I start talking about patients, when I say SPCA that is our local shelter (is it called that in the USA?... can't remember).

SPCA #1: Someone found a little kitten on a trail somewhere. Someone must not have wanted to deal with her anymore.. These people picked it up but noticed that she wasn't acting normal. She was wobbling back and forth with difficulty walking. Head shaking. They're thinking she has neurological problems. She wouldn't even eat normally, she maybe didn't have any depth perception but couldn't get at the food unless it was put in her mouth. The food provider said her heart broke when she saw this kitten, she'd love to adopt it but wouldn't have any idea if it could live a normal life or anything close... She has never owned a cat herself but feels horrible for what fate this kitten may have.

SPCA #2: Orange tabby cat extremely dehydrated underweight and had also vomited. Very nice kitty but maybe due to not feeling well. Dirty ears and just didn't look like she had anyone to take care of her.. but she did have a tattoo.

SPCA #3: Dog that has beagle colouring but reminded us of a corgi with short legs... anyways this dog had a collar and tattoo so will likely find its way home soon.

The food provider brought her dog Stewie today!! We kinda laughed at him because he had to be in a cage most of the day, he didn't look like he enjoyed it at all; he was scratching the cage door and wanting out. The food provider even gave him a bully stick and he flat out ignored it!! Later she let him out because no clients were coming in and out so he got some time to roam around and help clean. We then got put in our cages because of the surgery to clean the dogs wounds. They don't like having us out because they seem to think we'll make the area un-sterile.
Anyways its nice having Stewie hanging out with us, but we know to give him his space. Almost wanted to get a picture of Stewie and I (tony) together. We're practically twins don't you think? Next time...

The food provider is secretly thinking of taking one of us home. Hopefully me!! for only a day. She'd like to see what it would be like to have a cat at her place, to see if it would be ok or not... She says that getting to know us more and through catster has given her a deeper compassion for cats, one that makes her want one herself. ;)

anyways we are off. Oh and the dryer is now fixed here so no more escape attempts... darn, mol. Take care, and Stay Safe!!

Ok so only one survived but its exciting to have many little wild furs visit our clinic. The first squirrel came in, the shelter couldn't keep him overnight so they asked if they could bring him here. He was healthy and they say he was tame, they suspect he may have been kept as a pet. But the food provider didn't want to take the chance of opening the door and possibly having him get loose.

Next the Night SPCA (hes the one that works throughout the night and deals with emergency calls for the shelter) he came to pick the squirrel up and asked if we'd take another squirrel in exchange, MOL. Well, he didn't quite phrase it that way. This squirrel wasn't doing so well and was on the way to another place but he wasn't sure if it would survive that long. This squirrel must have had babies somewhere by the looks of it.. So we took it in and hoped his condition would improve but unfortunately after an hour or two she passed away. When she came in her temperature was unreadable (VERY low) and was on her side breathing deeply. She was also covered in fleas so that must not have made her feel any better...

Next is the baby bunny... We seem to get a lot of those. Did I mention any baby bunnies in past entries? I may have started after we had them. We had two baby bunnies come in one day after the other about a month ago (or so). One was healthy, the other one we tried to revive but passed away. But todays bunny was not in good condition at all and we decided to put him to sleep right away so he didn't need to suffer. We'll post a picture of the healthy bunny from a month ago. They are just so cute!! Oh and of course they look fun to play with ;).

Simon was most interested in the squirrels this time, I (Tony) was having too much fun with the new turbo scratcher. The food provider decided to put a towel under it cause i'd run into the room and jump on it and it would skid half way across the room!!! It makes a horrible sound when it moves on hard floor. The food provider took it home in hopes to put a grip of some sort on it. And after I was finished playing I went to Simon's cage and had a good nap on his bed, his bed is so much nicer then mine!!!! What makes them think he deserves the bed and not me? Anyways that is one of my hideaway sleeping spots now.

A list of our 10 favorite sleeping spots:

1. Catscale in the cat exam room

2. The printer

3. The staff's chairs. Especially if they get off and are planning on coming back.

4. Simon's Bed (My spot during the night, Simon doesn't sleep here except during the day)

5. Upfront on the cat bed by the window or on a chair upfront

6. On files in which the staff are using

7. Oh and I can't forget patient's cages!! One of Simon's favorites!

8. Under the couch in the Dr's office (my 'secret' hideaway)

9. The staff's laps

10. Cupboards that we open and slip into (we don't sleep in cupboards very often, but we love opening them!)

Hugs and Purrs,

6:00am

We are getting our manly rest tonight!! Well I suppose we do every night...
Not too much exciting happening today, the only patient is a dog in the back who we think has IVDD which you’re welcome to look up if you want to know more, but it is basically a serious back problem. He is in pain and has been whining off and on throughout the night. The Dr. has put him on pain meds to help him with the pain for now; he will then be transferred to their vet where they will discuss further testing.

Night time is our resting time, so we are just hanging out. I (Simon) am up front watching all the cars go by, and Tony is in the back hanging out with the food provider on the chair next to hers. Mornings is when we start getting active again. We run from the front to back and all over again. We are visiting the turbo scratcher every now and then and playing with some toys that are along our path.

An hour until feeding time... Well sooner if we are good enough at begging the food provider. But she mentioned that the hungrier we are the more we play so we’re not sure if our plan will work.

Look at the sun streaming through the windows!!! I believe I picked a good spot to sit. It’s gonna be a nice day today here. We over heard the food provider mention that she just planted Catnip at home; we are going to get FRESH catnip. How exciting is that?

We LOVE our new Turbo Scratcher!!! We went to investigate it as soon as the food provider put it down, we were drawn by the intoxicating smell of cat nip of course. We first tried out the ball and found out that it comes back when you hit it, then we notices that the middle is the perfect scratching surface. Who said we don't need something to scratch?! After we checked it out and played with it for a while we went for our night snooze, when we woke up in the morning we played with it again. Of course we'll have to get used to having it around because then we will go to it more often. The food provider still caught us scratching the furniture but she said she doesn't expect that to stop right away or completely for that matter.

We both took turns playing with it. But of course I (Simon) own it therefore I get to choose how long Tony can play with it for. Of course he was a little jealous that it is mine and tried to hog it for a bit but I stared him down and ran after him. Later he actually dared to jump and attack me!! The food provider said he did the traditional kitty-cat pounce where he crouched down wiggled his butt and jumped over the turbo scratcher and onto me!!! I guess I'll need to set him strait next time.

The food provider said something about me being greedy. Not sure what that means exactly but she said it has something to do with the fact that when I see tony playing with something then I want it too. Tony was playing with a hacky-sack and well he's not allowed to have fun, so I had to go take it from him. He isn't allowed to play with my toys right? Well he gets away with it sometimes, being lazy and all I have to pick and choose my fights.

Last night there was only one kitty guest and he was only there for a little while. I hissed at him to show him who's boss because he told his owner that he wanted to come into my territory!! Well the food provider threw me out of my territory... how dare she. Oh well I suppose that is life in a clinic. Tony and I went out to stalk after him later on, it is fun to follow our guests around, MOL. It's a fun game because they have no idea what we'd do to them.

Its almost dinner time... Now where is the staff who feeds us?!

So do you remember at all how we mentioned the drier was broken at work? Well if you don't we'll mention it again. So long story short until it is fixed the hose from the drier has to go outside, therefore we need to open the door. The staff first put us in our cages at first because they didn't want us to get out, but have lately been putting a blanket in between the door so we can't get out. The food provider especially put the blanket as high as her neck and a broom in front too.

Well Tony decided to go hide behind/under the couch in the Dr's office. The food provider noticed he wasn't around but thought he may be in the office because the Dr was in there taking a nap. But when he got up the the food provider went in and checked the office but Tony was no where to be seen!!!! She started freaking out and the staff called him and searched every room high and low. He was no where. She was hoping beyond hope he didn't get out, but went out to look for him anyways. She put me (Simon) in a cage and opened the door in hopes of Tony to come back. After an hour or so Tony comes trotting out of th Dr's office. The food provider was so mad/frustrated, but I could tell she was relieved he was not gone. As you can tell she had one tough night. She said tony never sleeps in there and never stays in a hiding spot for so long, it was odd for him... anyways its okay now, but she still is getting over the stress.

Well we had a good night ;). The food provider washed all our bedding and our litter boxes all nicely. We now have a super clean cage to sleep in tomorrow.

The food provider asked the staff if we could have a scratching post, but they said no. So there is no chance that work will buy us a scratching post or anything at this point. They say it would make the clinic too crowded and will look messy. Maybe they'll change their mind some day...

The food provider is thinking of getting the turbo scratcher (thanks Zach for suggesting it!!) It is small and looks like a lot of fun. But like the other things she has bought for us she will only bring in when she is working and when not too many staff are around. But is wondering if it will be too loud for night time when the Dr is sleeping. We can play with it a little farther away but we don't know how loud it is... The food provider is such a dork she'd buy one anyways for her future cat, MOL.

Oh and we promised Blizzard we'd check the ferret's file to see how he'd ended up. Well according to our files (care calls to patients are done one day later) he's doing a lot better, still not 100% when we had called but much improvement from when he was in.

Finney we enjoyed your party. Even though we technically couldn't be there, the food provider was contently checking her phone for catster updates, MOL.

There was a ferret at the clinic all night! And the silly staff put her on ground level, MOL. We tried to stick our paw in to fish him out, the food provider was going to try take a picture, she said it was cute. But we pretended to loose interest when she tried.

All the pets in tonight were pretty serious cases... One hit by car, one vomiting (and couldn't really walk without falling over) and the ferret who had very low red blood cell count. So there were not really any happy ever after stories tonight unfortunately. A lot of those stories happen after they leave our clinic anyways...

But! The food provider brought us some toys. We have such a nerdy food provider, MOL. She went out and bought a catnip toy for us, and one of those stands with a spring and a ball on top..?!? anyways we loved the cat nip toy, but we're not sure what to do with the spring toy. She also brought us yummy treats because the treats that we used to have are finished. But the reason the food provider is such a nerd is cause she has no cats of her own but is shopping for us clinic cats. We're not complaining, MOL.

The food provider feels bad that we don't have a scratching post. We scratch all the chairs and the staff gets mad at us. She says that they shouldn't get mad at us if they aren't willing to buy us something else to scratch... She may not be willing to bring it up though, she is newest to the clinic and does not feel like she is able to be open with some of the other staff... We'll see. We sure hope we could get one, maybe one with a perch on top!

Oh and we forgot the other day that we took a picture of that x-ray of the dog that swallowed the tennis ball. Would seeing that interest you? We're gonna post it, if you like seeing that kind of stuff we will try post some more often. Since it isn't really a picture of the animal I see no problem with it since it could be any animal in the world for all you know. ;)

Thats it for now, Ta Ta!

yes, we know we don't really have a mother. But since we are missing out on it we thought we'd thank all of our furiends' mothers for taking such great care of them, because of them you guys are our best furiends!

The last shift with the food provider was not too exciting. There was a kitten there that had been there since Monday. It was pretty sick, congested lungs, watery eyes/nose. The food provider forgot to check what happened to the little kitten tonight, she said she hopes the kitten got better enough to go home but... she's not sure.

The food provider took some more video's of us on her last shift. We posed all nicely and played with the 'red dot' (laser pointer) for the camera. Although the food provider apologized to us that she hasn't been able to edit it because her video editor isn't any good, she wants to go out and buy one. Since It may be a little while we have decided to put the possum video up, we're not sure if it's working yet though. We'll have to check later on today... hope your excited, they're so cute.

Today was another interesting day! MOL, we keep getting exciting stories to tell!! A doggy came in, she swallowed a small tennis ball!!! It was a cute black lab, and swallowed one of those small doggy tennis balls. The staffs had to make him sick to get the tennis ball back... poor doggie but she was feeling fine after, although to be honest I don't think he really cared that she swallowed it in the first place! If you know any doggies be sure to tell them not to inhale toys. It isn't very fun for them. Although maybe some of you have eaten something too that didn't go down right, we've heard on kitties eating elastics, strings, and a bunch of other fun stuff. Any of you have stories of eating things?

Another doggie is supposed to be coming in who ate a needle!! How scary! They may have to do an endoscopy, do you kitties know what that is? It is where they stick a camera down into you and retrieve what is stuck. This method is used if it is too dangerous to pass on its own or come up from being forced sick. The food provider is going to miss it, she is disappointed because she hasn't seen one done at our clinic. She said she has seen a few before though, one being a fishing hook which is sort of similar. Anyways if that is what happens then that will be fun for us to watch.

Also there was a kitty brought in. The lady said she found her 2 months ago and was trying to find his old home or find him a new home.
But in the mean time found out she was pregnant. She paid for a c-section the other day for the babies. Now the mommy is sick and she can't afford any more.
We took them and will be sending them to the shelter in the morning.. There were 4 kittens. The food provider was worried that if the mommy kitty doesn't make it for some reason then what would happen to the kittens, she has heard rummer that if no one wants to care for the kittens that bad things might happen to them. So she is telling the shelter that she is willing to foster if needed. That way if something happens there is no reason for the kittens to get hurt.
We are so proud to call her our food provider. Only time will tell if they take her up on her offer though. But wouldn't that be fun!?! And she said she'd have to take them to work because she needs to be feeding them all the time, how exciting would that be for us! We'd get to see them grow up to be strong healthy kittens.

Anyways thats about all the excitement for tonight. We are so glad you guys are enjoying our diary's.

We are happy to have you all as furiends ♥.

We had another interesting night tonight!! The food provider got in right after our new 'play things' arrived. They made really weird noises.. they were really interesting, but didn't catch our attention quite as much as those cute ducklings the other day. The food provider came in wondering what was in, when she asked the staff they said some Joey's came in. (the food provider just looked up the word for them; they can also be called a kit, or a kitten - who knows why..)

**Simon. When the Joey's got put away I took the responsibility of keeping an eye on them for a while. I was up on the counter leaning off the edge trying to get a better look to see if they were all right. I stayed there for a good hour after they arrived.

**Tony. Somehow in the hustle and bustle of things I got locked in the back room and no one noticed. Or maybe it was planned... But the food provider let me out. One of the kitties in the cages kept hissing at me when I was passing or when I looked at him. Just to see what he'd do I went right up to the cage. He just hissed at me again, MOL he couldn't do anything else about it. Although the staff told me to go away from him, and threatened to lock me away again; so I decided not to bother him anymore.
The Joey's were cool, but I didn't pay that much attention to them. Except when the food provider was taking them out one by one trying to feed them. I got a good close up look then, and I stuck around until the food provider put them all away again.

**The Food Provider. Are you waiting in suspense to find out what Joey's are?? I know I would be, or I would have looked it up by now. A Joey is another name for baby possums. Yes, Possums!! Their momma got hit my a car, and when the driver went to look, these 7 little guys came out of hiding. I took some good pictures and video's too. I'll try get the pictures up later today but the video may take a little longer... I'd like to edit it, and won't have much time.

.......

The food provider brought a video camera to the clinic today, we asked her to bring it so that we could post a video here on Catster. Who knew it would come in handy for something else too. We can now put a video together with us and our little furry visitors. We hope your looking forward to it as much as we are!!

A kitty came in with a bad runny nose and eyes, and congested lungs. They came with a taxi so the staffs decided to call someone to stay with the kitty for the day while the clinic is closed so that she doesn't need to come back and pick her kitty up so soon. (Pick up would have been only 3 hours after she left and would have had to be transfered to their clinic). Since the kitty needs to be hospitalized it works out well because it can just stay for the day and over night again without the stressful traveling.

Usually we are locked away during the day because of the alarms but maybe since there will be someone here maybe we'll be able to hang out around the clinic today.
Then the food provider is back again tonight!! Yay!

Purrr, puurrrrr, Meoowww...

Someone brought in some 'snacks' for us to play with tonight. Unfortunately the food provider locked them away in a cage just to tease us.

**Tony: I kept trying to get up to the cage to have a closer look but my staff wouldn't let me. The food provider is so cruel not to let us have them... She called them ducklings and said they didn't want to play with us. Said they were gonna be sent off and released back into the wild. I think they'd like it better here with me.

The food provider bought a little red dot for us to play with too. She said it was cheap and she's not sure how long it will last... It wasn't very bright either. We were more interested in the little flashlight then the dot on the floor.

The clinic's drier is broken so for the last week whenever they are drying laundry the staff locks us away because the drier hose needs to go out the door. They think we'll sneak out, we don't think they have enough trust in us... maybe for good reason, MOL.

We met a great big stray dog today. He was a German shepherd cross. He was 130lbs, wow so big! He was so friendly, he came up to us and introduced himself. He said his owners didn't tattoo him or microchip him. He said he'd always wanted his own collar with his name on it, but now that he's lost its up to his parents to find him back.

The food provider said we probably shouldn't talk about owned animals too much because its supposed to be confidential...
But maybe we'll give some neutral stories with no names now and then.

The only kitty in today was in for a drainage tube removal, he had a bit of a fever so he wasn't feeling too well.
There was a beautiful GDV(bloat) dog, the doggy was getting older though and had been through a lot so unfortunately we had to say goodbye to him. RIP GDV dog, see you on rainbow bridge.

Just said bye to the food provider. The overfeeder has taken over for her. We'll see the food provider again on monday, we'll have all night to play with the red dot then :).

I am tempted to call myself mom since I am so used to doing so, although in this case I am not really a mom or owner. I am more of a partial care taker of Simon and Tony. All the Vet Assistants I work with take care of the kitties equally.

We love having the cats around, and they know how to get attention from us. Which includes sitting on our files as we work, or rubbing against us as we are typing out our files.

Because there are multiple care takers it is hard to get an agreement with everyone on how much they are being fed. They are getting pretty chubby. Simon is 18lbs and Tony is about 14lbs. I am planning on starting a system to make sure everyone is feeding the right amount of food, plus recording their weights each week.

Unfortunately I don't have a say in what food they are being fed. I myself would prefer feeding a more natural diet, but the clinic gets discount on the veterinary diets...

We have just discovered that Simon and Tony love chasing lights. I suppose this should be obvious but since this is a clinic we don't carry around laser pointers or anything. I am planning on buying a kitty Laser Pointer and bringing it to work tomorrow. Maybe we'll continue to do this to help them loose some chubs too ;).

Anyways, just like Stewie's diary I will let Simon and Tony do the rest of the posts. I Just wanted to start it off for them to give you some background info. I may add a note here and there; since I can't really say that I'm their mom I suppose I'll go by.. 'the food provider'.

I will be working tomorrow night so we'll have them start their diary then :).

Ta Ta, I am off. Have lots of paper work to do!
