Checked Herman OnLine yesterday and found out that I now have 60 of the 75 points necessary to become a Grand Premier. Harvard made it in three shows; I've been in one and a half shows (we ditched one show and one day of another show because we were tired), and I'm pretty sure to get my points in the next show, which is a one-day show with six rings. Thus, I will have gotten my points faster than Harvard did, nyah nyah nyah. Of course, this is all speculation.

Someone opined at the last show that it was a shame I hadn't been left intact so I could have become a Grand Champion. Well, it's a little bit late to worry about that now, isn't it? True, I probably could have made GC, and I would have made a good stud, but since all the females in our cattery are related to me, either we'd have to get another female, or turn me into a Rent-A-Stud for other catteries. And I would have had to stay apart from the intact females until I was neutered. I prefer to roam free. (Heh heh, I was caught in a compromising position with Radcliffe the other day, but that's not going to produce any kittens.)

Right now, Harvard is #16 in the Premiership Class, and I'm #28, but that's not including the scores from the last show. Not much competition this year, I must say. Harvard is #16 with only 145 points. Harvey had many more points than that at this point in the show year, and was ranked about the same as Harvard. Right now, there are two Maine Coons who are the main contenders to be Regional Winners, and one of them is neck to neck with an Oriental Shorthair to be Best Cat. I suppose Harvard and/or I could be thrown into the mix to spice things up, but it's better to start as a Grand Premier at the beginning of the show season in May, and get all your e-points while the other cats are all Premiers. (Don't worry if you don't understand this.)

Actually, I'm getting used to shows. At the last show, Leila came along so that she could have her picture taken by Helmi Flick. We were in the same cage, and it was nice to have a cat I know in there with me. I rolled on my back and showed my tummy, and visitors were duly impressed by my size. For some reason, I only made one final, although I got those purple ribbons for Best Premier in all the rings. I like to reach up to the top of the cage and knock them off when the judge isn't looking. I'm also a lot more responsive than other cats (like Haaarvey) when the judge passes by my cage and waves a wand toy. I always make eye contact. Judges like that.

Next cat show November 28. We have new show curtains--pink, which isn't exactly my thing, but they're pretty snazzy, which makes the Human happy.

Harvard started to write about my first cat show after becoming a Premier, with the title "Lowell Lays an Egg." Yeah, sibling rivalry and all that. But I did not lay an egg. I made all eight finals (something neither Harvard or Harvey has ever done), and because there were no Persians competing that day in the Premiership ring, I was guaranteed to get at least one of those purple ribbons that count toward my becoming a Grand Premier. It was a rather small show (only 70 or so cats), but I was able to get 40 out of the 75 I need to become a Grand Premier. At this rate, it should only take me one or two more shows to become a GP.
