Oh, WOW! Mom and Dad dad dad found a new litter and it smells so awesome I just went in there to poop this morning instead of on the floor... Seriously! Mom's shocked! It's some sort of fancy expensive litter from Petco that supposed to re-litterbox-train me... Huh? Training? That's stupid! I'm a cat! Training's for DOGS! .... But anyways, this is day 2 of it being mixed in with the normal litter, and it's day 1 of me being what Mom calls a "Good Boy!" Really, Mom!?! Does that mean you and Dad dad dad won't be so frustrated with me?! That'd be awesome... But we'll see. Every now and then I like to surprise them by actually going inside the box. So fingers still crossed! (Esp. since I overheard Mom and Dad discussing whether I'd be happier somewhere else, not with them... That sounded like they were both very sad about that thought.)

Just wanted to let everybody know that I'm doing just fine! Mom tried to take me outside (Wearing a harness, not my usual a collar) but I just was too jumpy and scared of everything outside. I asked to go in almost immediately. So while all my brothers were out basking in the sunshine this morning, I stayed inside and watched the great outdoors from my nice safe window. Mom tried to check how my neck is doing one more time before dictating my diary entry and I bit her fingers (playfully)! I'm feeling so fine that I might be back to being a carpet troll ankle biting fuzz bucket by the end of the day! But for right now, I'll keep resting and watching out the window.

Wow. I am OK! But I just had a near death experience! I was outside with my brothers and parents, just chillaxing around the garden. Mom and Dad had us out there on our leashes while they raked, cleaned up, and explored the newly de-snowed yard... Then I noticed that the BIG cement bird bath was back! When did Dad take that out of moth balls?! I know I'm not supposed to jump up there, but couldn't quite remember why that was... Sparkman reminds me it's filled with water usually.

But there I was outside, on my leash, and wanted to badly to sit in there! Dad had just brought it out, so no water in it yet... I jumped up, and WHOA! The whole top dish thing tipped and fell on top of me! The rim hit my neck and I hissed as I scampered trying to get out from under the big heavy thing. Dad got there first and lifted it off me, which meant I started an all out panic run on my leash! All 4 of us had our leashes on the same leash anchor, and had tied an amazing knot. Dad was panic stricken with not knowing quite which one to undo to free me. Mom got to me about then, and unhooked my collar.

I ran RIGHT for the back door to the house! Mom was at my heels and opened the back door for me, and ZOOM! I ran full speed up to the attic floor and hid. Dad was the first to find me, I heard Mom outside still trying to calm and get my brothers inside... Phew! That was terrifying!

Dad checked me over for swelling, broken bones, anything bothering me and I seem fine. He says they'll keep checking on me over every half hour, then hourly... We do have an emergency vet in town and Mom says she'll take me in if I show any discomfort... Wow that was scary! The humans said they're going to move all bird baths to where we can't hurt ourselves again... Mom's a little shocked and not sure what she'd have done if Dad wasn't right there. Dad's the best. He saved me! Oh, Dad dad dad! Thank you!!!

I overheard the humans giggling and saying that I look like Animal from the Muppets. I think that's a compliment? But I'm loving my new hair cut! I spent yesterday RACING around the house. Did you know I can run from the ground floor to the attic in like 5 seconds?! Mom's impressed! She couldn't even keep up with me! Ha ha!

In other news, I got to ride in the car with Dad dad dad to go visit my friend's moused cabin again! This time I just checked things out while Mom, Jane & Dad dad dad hung out eating human food. I did my usual patrol, checked out the windows, kept a close eye on Dad dad dad, and then napped by the fireplace on a rug. Then I got to ride in the car home! Mom said she thinks I'm a dog. Now, is that one a compliment?! I'm not sure. But I'm loving my hair cut. And the car rides. And visiting my friend in the cabin!

Next Mom says I should try burying dog bones in the yard and chasing the mailman... Huh?

I'm on another outting! Oh boy oh boy oh boy! I LOVE outtings! This time I'm at one of my favoritest places in the whole world; THE VET'S OFFICE!!! No worries, I feel fine. I'm just here "Getting my hair done" as Mom said. I'm kinda hoping for another lion cut, cause they're just awesome.

This morning they put me in the carrier, and I was not excited about that. They carried me outside, that was awesome. Then they put me in the car IN my carrier, that was not so exciting. I howled a little to let Mom know I wanted out to roam around the car. But she said no, so I just rolled around in my carrier making cute faces at Mom and Dad dad dad.

Then we went into the vet building and I got all excited. I have sooooo many friends there! I saw my buddy Brenda at the front desk and immediately started purring. There were lots of dogs there this time and they were all hopping around making scary noises. I just laid my ears back and watched Dad dad dad. Awwwww, Dad dad dad!

Then came and took me to the back room to greet all my favorite vet humans! I was purring and hyper to get out of my carrier and give them alllll kisses! It's only now I'm realizing that Dad dad dad and Mom went home... Shucks. Can't Mom just go home and leave Dad dad dad with me?!

I'm off on an adventure! The humans all assured me last night that this is a temporary thing called a "Slumber Party." I'm at my humans' friends' house on an overnight mouse patrol! Wow, I can see why they needed a mouser here. I sniffed around and found the places the mice hang out in their house... But didn't catch any mice yet for them.

It's not bad here at all! I mean, I miss my brothers and my house. My normal daily routine is totally not being followed. There's just me and one human in this house with big windows. Out there I think there's a thousand birds! The human I'm with keeps doing something called knitting with something called yarn... I think I need to convince my humans to take this hobby up! It's way better than anything my humans do. And the window TV here is just awesome! Did I mention even the snow melting drips off the roof are fun to watch? I haven't stopped purring since I came over. It's hard to sleep or do my mousing cause I'm just glued to the kitty TV and yarn happenings.

I did have one brief meow crying for my brothers in the middle of the night... But no one came when I called, other than the knitting human. I miss my buddies. But am having a great day! I overheard the humans say that I need to be home before my pill tonight and before Dad-dad-dad gets home. Because they recognize that the biggest part of my day is greeting Dad-dad-dad at the door with face rubs and kisses and purrs. Oh, good. They at least understand THAT about me!

It's funny, I don't think most cats would be all cool with going somewhere else for a slumber party, but I'm okay with it! I think Sparkman would go nuts crying for Mom, Captain Morgan would jump ship, and Moose would probably hide under the bed... But I'm just checking out stuff and admiring the scenery. Heck, I'm okay with canoeing and riding in cars. I can hang out for a day in a plush, warm cabin with pleasant company! This is awesome!

I should be up hunting for those mice, but it's nap time! I wonder if that human will let me nap on her lap? Hrmm...

I'm being a good boy today. So I'm purring, making cute poses, using my litterbox, and playing nice with the humans. I gave Dad's head a bath today. I sat on the back of the couch and licked his head for almost a half hour. I even had to grab the side of his head with my claws a few times to tilt his head and get a new spot to lick. His head was quite soggy afterward. And my tongue still tastes like human! Bleck!

Then I let Mom do something she seems to love doing; cut off my dreadlocks! This time she started by giving me neck scratches and cuddles. That was awesome. Then she reached onto my furry tummy rubbed it. That was nice! Then she was scratching that dreadlocked chest area that's always itchy... That was so awesome that I did that compulsive sticking my tongue in and out while purring.

Then while I was all relaxed, I realized that thing in her hand was a tiny scissors and that she'd already cut off three dreads! I felt her going for the BIG one... It was as big as my fluffy foot. I let her have it. Then I heard her talking to Dad. She said she wasn't going to throw the dreads out, that she keeps them forever and ever in a red velvet box encrusted with real jewels and hidden in a magical fairyland.... Wow! I am sooooo special!

It's been almost two weeks since the new litter box and happy spray showed up! And I have to say; I'm liking them! I've had two outside the box mishaps, and Moose missed while peeing in the new box once... But we seem to be doing pretty good! Mom is very impressed.

But that spray stuff has a bigger fan than me even; Sparkman! He just can't stop napping on this piece of tissue paper right in front of the thing. He walks over and sniffs it now and then, so he knows it's there... He just must love the scent!

In other me news, I've gotten 2 baths in the past week... Bleck! The first one I asked for by almost climbing in shower with Mom and running over to the filling bathtub to admit to Mom that yes, yes I was stinky. But the second one?! I hissed and growled and almost swatted Dad for that one. I wasn't needing another one! I wasn't nearly so stinky! And I don't understand why Mom insists on brushing me afterward and cutting my dreadlocks off. Doesn't she realize those dreads are my counter culture hip happenin' funk power?! Yeesh, Mom! You're just not cool enough to hang out with.

But now I'm all silky and soft and getting more loves from Dad! So I guess it's okay... I'm gunna go bite my brother's head now. Rumble time!!!!

So lately I've been really into pooping on the floor, not in the litter boxes. I don't have any big reasons for this that Mom & Dad could find (I'm still peeing in my boxes). Mom and Dad switched litters for me, moved around existing boxes, started cleaning them more often, locking me in the basement (The only part of the house I do all my business inside my box)... Nothing seemed to be working. At least not for very long.

So my awesome babysitter suggested a new spot for an uncovered, non-clumping litter box. Mom did that, and got me a kitty happy scents defuser... And Mom was so happy to see me go in there this morning! She's hoping I keep doing that... I don't know. We'll just have to see how I feel tomorrow!

Holy Bastet! You cats totally gotta get this fur cut I have. It's AWESOME! I have so much more energy that I can hardly keep still. I've been getting in some serious racing around and ankle biting time. Ankle biting is fun. Let me tell you my techniques. Feel free to take notes and copy them:

For humans, I like to get up on my hind legs, and start bouncing as they approach. They get all "Awww! Look at the kitten!" And they hardly walk fast enough before I dive right in and start bunny kicking and gnawing ankle meat... Bwa ha ha! Mom follows up by shrieking and running away. Dad usually bends over and starts hand wrestling me, which is of course awesome.

And then there's my brothers' ankles... That takes a bit more ninja like maneuvers. First I get down on my belly on the ground and act all casual. I'm all "Don't mind me, just lounging here in the hallway!" Then as they walk past, I wait till their head is completely past me and not looking in my direction... Then, I do a lunge on my elbows and tilt my head to grab at their hind ankles! Generally this erupts into a full on wrestle match. So be ready for a quick retreat or energy burst to give 'em what for! Hiiiii-Yay!

Ahhh it's fun being a Purr-C!

I got a new hair cut. And wow am I ever styling! It's called a lion cut, and I think I look dapper. But I keep getting surprised when humans pet me. I'm like "Whoa! I can feel your hand!!!" And it is just soooo much cooler here now. You would not believe how insulating my natural floof was. I hardly miss it! But gee I feel a little nekkid. Almost like I should be tagged for the nekkid stroll!

I guess the vet humans and my parents finally noticed that this time of year I carry around half the garden plants, mats & who knows what in my fluffy underbelly. At least, that's the reason Mom said that I was getting trimmed... It's hard grooming so much fluff! And I didn't want Mom and Dad to brush me. I'd rather just roll around and play with the brush when they get it near me! Ha!

Anyways. I think this hair cut is pretty awesome. And I sure recommend it to any of my fellow floof-sters!

It's the one that has been hanging out by the garage door. It was in those tall garden plants and I have been watching it for weeks... Drooling... Mom's happy too because I caught it, got off my leash, walked over to where she was gardening, and when she grabbed my neck scruff, I dropped it! It looked stunned, then hopped up and ran away. Mom thinks it's going to be just fine. So I can catch it again!

She then took me inside (congratulating me all the way) and gave me half a can of wet cat food! Whoa! No one else got wet food in the middle of the afternoon, just ME! I'm sure special and amazing... Happy summer hunting every kitty!

Yay, purrrrrs! Thank you furriends for remembering my Gotcha Day! I'm sure happy to have been here with my family for two years... Hardly seems that long!

I spent the day (and weekend) lick-fighting with Sparkman and lounging outside in the sun. I found a new favorite place to nap in the shade next to some irises. I'm getting better about staying on my leash when I'm outside, but Mom still occasionally ignores me and I have to squirm out of my collar to do important stuff, like run over to Sparkman or run to the door to go back inside the house.

Still feeling fine these days! And I'm still on my monthly shots & evening meds to control that weirdness... But they're working!

Anyways, it's time to give Sparkman another bath and wrestle. That guy's just fun!

I am CRAZY today! You know why?! Firstly I'm feeling a whole lot better. But secondly its because Dad cut off my whiskers! He didn't mean to. But I had a big knotted dreadlock growing on my cheek. And Dad's insistent I not grow dreads. So strange, I thought I was just being cool when I grew those! So Dad went to cut off my dread and I was wiggly or something. And somehow my whiskers ended up in the scissors at the wrong moment and snip! Now I have four cut off whiskers and no dreadlock... And the disorientation of being lopsided is making me hypurr crazy. I gotta go bunny kick the carpeted staircase again. Bye!

Hey... Do any of you wonderful brilliant kitties have recommendations for what food we should be eating?! Right now I'm on C/D for a few more weeks & my brothers are on Natural Balance Ultra Mix Reduced Calorie (We're a little on the pudgy side)... Mom think maybe we should switch onto something gentler on our stomachs, but can't really afford for us all to eat C/D food all the time.

Any ideas?!

Whoa! That one day I thought I was going to the Vet's turned into well over a week! Apparently my humans weren't able to speak cat and explain to me that I was going in for a check up AND a staycation while they were off galavanting. At least they finally came and picked me up today!

First things first; my test went great. The Vet says that they can't find anything physically wrong; like crystals of kidney stones. (Apparently they rechecked stuffs and decided the one possible crystal that showed up in a previous check was not actually there... Imaginary scariness?!) So I am still on the Interstitial Sistitus diagnosis (Wow that's a lot of big words). And my humans got a recommendation that they keep me less stressed out.

That said, I had a BLAST at the Vet place. Those humans are puddy in my hand. First off, they got confused and were giving me a whole can of wet food at pill time! Yuummm! Then they were letting me run around the clinic in the mornings; I had a vet room with a window for play time; a BIG dog running kennel for my other play time; my own suite to nap and eat in; and the ladies at the desk let me sit on their laps to do work. They told Mom that I even had doggie friends I was playing with. When my humans came in to get me, I heard the desk ladies try and tell them "You're late fro pick up! You'll just have to come next week to pick him up... Yes, we are keeping him."

Apparently I had no blood in my urine and didn't pee outside the box once there... Mom and Dad are now worried that maybe I'm just trying to move out. But so far, they're guessing my at home "stress" might be Sparkman... I LOVE that cat! But I guess he does get moody some times.

I'm a DDP again?! Whoa! Thanks every kitty! It's sure great to be in Diary Central, again!

So here's my day so far: Mom woke me up and gave me meds & breakfast. (I'm spending my nights in the basement, because I'm on a special food diet. That and I LOVE THE BASEMENT!) Then she let me run around the house a bit. Mom put the bottom drainage plate thing of a flower pot beside the litterbox and put some litter in it. Since she did that, I haven't peed on the floor as much. We're still working on that whole me not being scared of the box thing... So I'm a purry happy guy running around, chasing my brothers, and hoping to find another moth (I found & ate one last night!)... Then Mom grabbed me and crammed me in that carrier again! WHY?! I've been good!

She said it was time for a re-test at the Vet. Yeesh! These Vet humans just missed me I think. Mom was trying to hug me good bye for the day, when I saw the vet tech open the door to the back room... THE BACK ROOM!!! I wiggled out of Mom's grasp and dashed through the open door. The Vet tech giggled and we both said "Okay! Bye! See ya later, alligator!" Yup. I love hanging out there thaaaaat much! Purrrrs!

I've come home! I've come home!!! This morning, the Vet Humans opened my cage to get me out for exams, and I was rolling around, showing them my belly and purring. When they opened the door; I ran out and started head butting and nose kissing everyone in the room! I just love all the Vet Humans. They gave me fluids, rechecked various things. And I heard them tell Mom that for the first time in literally half a dozen urine checks, they found a few crystals! So I am officially off my normal food and onto c/d food for a while at least. And I have a small grocery bag full of meds... Amazing, Finney just this morning warned my Mom that my food included a few not so good for me ingredients, which could give me crystals and worse. Yikes! Thanks, Finney!

I got home and Captain Morgan came running over, pawing at my new food bag. He agrees with me that that stuff is GREAT! Moose came chirping over to greet me too, but I haven't seen Sparkman yet. He must be laying down for nap time... I should go join him!

Oh, but I forgot the most exiting part of today: I'm on the main page!!! I'm the diary pic! There's me right below the Tabbies O'Trout Towne!!! I'm so excited. I'm going to have Mom print it out and hang it on the fridge... Thank you friends for stopping by to read my diary and celebrate with me. Pull up a bowl and have some c/d food! Num nums for all!!!
On a totally different topic than my health lately; Samoa's named me a Dreamboat! I share the boat with my brothers Sparkman and Moose! Which is pretty much amazingly wonderful and happy happy news. Since I'm spending the night at the Vet, and Mom needed some cheering up... THANK YOU, SAMOA! Click here to read Samoa's wonderful thoughts on my loveliness!

But she asked a question: Where did I get all my fun nic-names?! Here you go, Samoa!

Toki- The name my first humans gave me! I was named by consensus of my "birth" Mom's roomies. I think it comes from an anime character?

New Guy- The name my Mom and Dad called me when they couldn't decide on my forever name.

Fuzz Bucket- A.K.A. Bucket of Fuzz... Mom thinks they started calling me this when making up silly songs about me. For some reason they liked singing a blues song called "Rust bucket" to me, and changing the main chorus to "Whoa whoa whoa; Fuzz BUCKET!"

Flufferpants- All of us here have "pants" names. I think Mom has a fetish or something. I'm Fluffer pants, because of my fuzzy hind legs make me look like I'm wearing fluffy pantaloons. Captain Morgan is Captain Cutie Pants. Moose is Goofy Pants. Sparkman is Crabby-pants. As in "Sparkman, don't be a Crabby Pants!" He gets cranky. It's funny.

Porcupine, wolverine- Both of these names were briefly considered for my forever name. And both were due to my physique! (And habit of growing spiny line of back dreadlocks.) They live on as nic names. I think Moose would have like having another woodland creature in the pack... too bad!

Carpet Troll- I like area rugs. I like sitting on them and attacking anyone that tries to pass. Human, cat, wolverine... Doesn't matter. You shall not cross my carpet! Rawr!

Purrseus- When I first got here, all my humans really had to go on in naming me was that I was a purr-a-holic. THey took the word "Purr" and tried fitting it into any name they could think of. Nothing seemed to fit my amazing-ness, though... Then one night they were at something called a "Planetarium" listening to a star talk about constellations. They both got wide eyed and looked at each other saying "PURRseus!"

Bad news on my health front: I'm back at the Vet place again today and tonight. I woke up this morning and made a tiny tiny puddle on the floor. Then another on Mom's yoga mat. She went to touch my belly and see if my bladder was hard (Why does she DO that!?!) and I hissed at her. That's all it took, she called the Vet and had me in there this morning. At first I was just happy to see my Vet human buddies again... But then I realized they were poking and prodding in places I did not find comfortable. That was NOT pleasant or fun. I tried to purr through the whole thing. But after a while, a guy just has to howl and hiss and fuss.

They told Mom that I have another blockage and infection. They are putting me on more medications and for longer this time. (Maybe it's the same infection that wasn't totally cleared up by the meds?!) This afternoon they were all excited that I peed on my own. Huh? I thought peeing on my own is what got me back here!?! Whatever. I am one happy little medicated guy tonight. I only wish I was home with my family.

That redecorating of my litter room (though not nearly as fabulous as the Tabbies O Trout Towne suggested) seems to be doing the trick! Mom's so happy and Dad's so proud of me. They even told a friend who came over the other day that "He's acting like our baby Purrseus again!" I guess in all this illness, I must have been kinda grumpy and rude to the humans... But now everything's back to normal! I get hugs and play time, treats, sleeping on the bed, playing with my brothers, and only going in the basement to hangout when I want to! Today Mom and I cuddled, and then I let her cut some of the knoted dreadlocks out of my fur... So nice to have loving human servants again! And so nice for them to have me with them again.
I've been showing Mom & Dad all the great advice you cats have been giving me & Sparkman. THANK YOU! Mom was chatting over how I'm doing with a friend last night and she suggested that my dislike of the litter box might totally be what the Tabbies suggested; something bad I'm associating with the litter box. But that's where Mom and I were stumped. I mean, nothing horrible really ever happens to me! My brothers pounce on me to wrestle, and I purr. Even when I first moved in and Moose was wrestling me out of anger; Mom says I still purred at him and thought it was a game. (Wait, Mom... You're saying it WASN'T happy play?!) Anyhow, Friend pointed out what the horrible thing was; the bladder infection! Oh, duh! It hurt like heck to go in there and to be a good kitty I pretty much was living in there. So now Mom and Dad are trying to make my litter box new and fun. They laid down a new shiny vinyl flooring for me to try and make it to the litter box. (Smells so different!) And they've started giving me treats and hugs for going in the right place. (That's just weird.) And and and you know that great kitty air freshener the vet prescribed?! It's in the main litter box room! Oh I just want to go in there and sniff the lovely air, makes me so happy! Purrrrrs!

We are working on it!

And in other news; today's the last day of my pills! Whoo hooo!

I can't help it. When I feel the urge to pee lately; I just find something to sit on, or hide behind and go! Mom and Dad are not too excited about this. But you know; they have had to unpack more pee-ed on boxes and wash more floors than since I don't remember when! They should really be thanking me for getting them rolling on the unpacking and cleaning realm. Why aren't they happy?! They keep putting me in the basement when they get mad at me... That's great! I LOVE the basement! Except around 2 a.m.. They locked me up all night last night and in the early morning hours; I was quite vocal about not wanting to be down there any more. 2 a.m. is play time with Sparkman! This sucks. The humans just need to accept that I'm not wanting to use the litter box no matter how clean it is... I'm still on pills and shots! I'm still sick. Right?!

I had a good night! I got to sleep in bed with Mom, Dad and all my brothers! They're still grumping at me now and then... Even Sparkman! Mom said he missed me; but you wouldn't know it from the mean things he's been saying.

The humans keep finding places I pee-ed when I was sick. They think some might be new, but I'm insisting that they're all from before. (Don't rat me out, Sparkman!)

I don't like these pills they give me. I spit them out at Mom. She keeps shoving them back in till I swallow. But I guess if they feed me more greenies afterward, maybe it's worth it.

Tabbies of Trout Towne told me to get in a car and drive a bazillion miles an hour on the road to Re Cover Eee... And I'm sure trying! My feet can't reach the pedals, so I'm trying to get Sparkman to work the gas pedal for me. Puuuuurrrrs & ZOOM!

I'm home!!!! Mom came and sprung me from Vet Kitty Jail! She's always the one who bails me out of jail. What a Mom! She gave me a little bath when I got home and then fed me TWICE as much wet food for dinner as I normally get! Either she mistook me for two cats; or she missed me; or the Vet told her I needed more. Probably the last one since the Vet says over all I've lost some weight.

Everybody was sure excited to see me and smell me. I got sniffs and sniffs and sniffs! Sparkman gave me the wide eyed "Is that really YOU?!" look, which felt nice. I'm not patrolling the house looking for Dad. Mom says he's at that "work" place; but I don't believe her.

Wow it's good to be home!

***********************************************************************
Note from Mom:

He's doing GREAT! Looks a little skinnier than before this whole thing, and has a shaved forearm (Which annoys him). But overall he's looking good, active & purring little guy! They sent him home with a couple meds. And decided in the end it was a bladder infection coupled with a blockage... Something that can be fatal! We are so grateful for your purrs & loves.
I get to go home! I get to go home! I overheard the Vet tell one of my parents (I sure hope it was one of my parents) that I passed all my tests this morning! Wow. I thought the tests would be hard but all I had to do was lay there and try not to bite the Vet Humans while they did stuff too impolite to talk about... They said I had a writer's block and an infestation of blad-purr or your-e-trek [Side Note From Mom: Blockage and Infection]. I have no idea what the infestation thing is about. I mean, I get sooo many baths, those can't be kinds of fleas! But writer's block I hear is a bad thing. It keeps amazing talented people from writing anything... So I must be an amazing talented writer! I better get composing now that I'm un-blocked:

Oh, let me compare you to a greenie;
So nutty and salty and tiny;
Sometimes when I wrestle my brother;
I bounce around ankles of my mother;
And then I fall on my hind-ie.

It worked! Now for some weird reason, the Vet said I have to wait here until 5 pm for Mom to come get me. Something about fluids? I think we have water at home. So they can't be trying to water me like a plant... I think either the house is flooded; or the Vet Humans are lying so they can get in more cuddle time. If it's the house being flooded back home; I blame that Pirate Guy! Captain Morgan's always rambling about the sea and the ocean and the bounding maine. (Huh?!) I bet he filled the bath tub and it over flowed and now the whole house is filled with water... In that case, I'll stay right here! Thanks for watching my back, Vet Humans!

Mom, Dad and I all went to the Vet. All my brothers hate going there, but I love it! There's so many more humans to give me cuddles! I love cuddles. Just not from Mom... Anyways, it was a new vet lady and I think she's the coolest. She even let me give her nose to nose rubs and kisses! There were soooo many more humans at the Vet office for me to love on; I had a great time. Except that Mom and Dad left me there for like a whole hour or six while they waited for me to give a sample of something... I didn't understand what they were asking for. So I just purred and chattered at them, and then took a nap in this nice glass bead lined bed they provided! But there was no litter pan in that suite they set up for me, so I just did my piddle business beside that nice bed they made me. It was red, painful and scarce like it's been lately. The Vet humans even said "Oh you poor thing!" What?

Then humans came back and the Vet people talked to them about my stress level were there any changes around the house? Well, YEAH! Mom and Dad are painting the kitchen! It's a totally different color in there! And Sparkman's been having an attitude this week and picking on me... Mom thought it was because he knew before the humans did that I had a UTI. But Vet Lady said it might be that something set off Sparkman and started him picking on me. Then I got upset and more upset and MORE upset and started having internal swelling! Vet Lady says I get these problems so often that they probably are not UTIs but instead they're psycho-sum-addict, caused by stress. (I'm a Psycho!?! I saw a movie about that once... I don't think there were any cats in it.)

So I'm getting anti-in-flame-bees and pain meds. (I have FLAMING BEES in me! Coooool!) But the fun things: I'm also getting fish oil every day and this air freshener thing that smells like HAPPINESS! I sniff at it and PURRRRRRR! Wow that thing's great! The humans said that once they're sure I'm not going to pee on everything I can come back upstairs. Oh I sure hope they bring my air freshener! This thing really smells great! When Mom came down to check on me, I was like "Let me show you the air freshener. It rocks. Behold. Sniff. ADORE!!!" She was giggling and happy for me... Can't she smell how HAPPY this thing is?!

She tried to bring me upstairs for greenie and potato treat time. Sure, I came up for a few minutes... But then back to my air freshener! This thing is PAWSOME!!!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!! Mom and Dad say i get to spend the whole day and night in the BASEMENT! I just LOVE the basement lately. It's the coolest place in the world. There's spiders and ground level windows and a worm compost thingie and all sorts of fun! Plus Mom put a litter box, food, water & even a little pillow bed for me. Awww! And they keep coming down to visit. I greet them and walk them around to the neat things I've found since their last visit. I'm like "Mom, you GOTTA see this dust bunny! It has a dead fly in it!"

Mom and Dad say I get to live down here for a while because they suspect that I have another UTI. I'm not in pain at all, but I'm peeing in weird places. Also, Mom says it's not a normal color... Who looks at the color of that stuff, now really?! I don't care. Also, the other cats keep picking on me because they know I'm being naughty... I can't help it! The litter box gets soooo boring the 100th time you visit it in a day... It's okay, I'm just going to stay in the BASEMENT!

Meanwhile Mom called my vet's office. They aren't open sundays, but I have an appointment to get cuddles from a Vet person tomorrow morning! And they gave her a list of things to watch for in my behavior to make sure it's not anything worse, and that I don't need immediate medical attention... But so far I'm just being my normal purry happy self! Especially now that they say I can live in the basement for a day! Oh boy! I LOVE this!

And life may never be the same... So THAT's what Da Tabbies O Trout Towne are always purring about! That stuff is amazing!

I walked into the living room where Mom and Dad were eating lunch. And some of it smelled really good, I mean REALLY GOOD! I sat calmly and patiently and sniffed in the air at them. Mom broke off a bit of cracker, spread some smelly goodness on it and offered it to me. One lick and my eyes lit up completely, TROUT! It was in a spread called "Smoked Trout Spread." I think from the taste it was mixed with catnip & ocean whiffy fish flavor catfood & milk & fish food. It was THAT good!

Mom let me lick out the container and everything! My buddy Captain Morgan came over to help me, took one sniff and started burying it. He just had NO IDEA what he was missing out on! OH! I could eat this stuff every day. I am in love.

I love the attic in our new house. It's mine. It's got carpeted stairs up to it and then it's all insulated and finished. And because my humans haven't really got a clue what to do with it yet, it's all empty for me to romp and roll around!

There's two little windows up there at my height. The first tiny one overlooks the backyard and roof pigeons. They look in at me, I drool at them. The other window had lacy white curtains, but I redecorated. They're now my lacy white, fluffy kitten bed! And of course that's the room all flies in the house eventually go to die. So I have things to chase and snacks!

Mom put my ball in track toy up there too so I can play and it can echo and sound like a HUNDRED BALL IN TRACK TOYS!!! Then she says she knows where I am.

My brothers come up to my attic floor when they want to wrestle. We like pouncing and playing up there at night because it's right over Mom and Dad's bedroom. We can make noise to wake them up, then chase each other down the stairs, through the hallway, and bounce onto the bed with them! It's great fun. Captain likes running across their pillows, Sparkman likes that route too, Moose likes running across their stomachs, and I like it when I can manage to get up there! You see, I have short little legs and a whole lottah fluff. So sometimes I try to jump places the other guys go and I just plop down on my little rump.

But you know what the real reason to hangout in the attic is?! I'm the tallest cat in the house! Which of course means that I'm the leader. Raw raw, King PurrC!!! I'm king of my domain: the ATTIC!

WOW, Mom is slow! I was a daily diary pic almost a week ago! And she's just now helping me discover that. Of course, I knew! She's so silly! Thanks friends for the cool pic and award and cat and leafies!!! I was sure excited.

I'm having a blast in our new house. That's right! Our humans moved. And they took us with! (That hasn't always happened to me, so I'm just thrilled that I got to come along!) There's carpet and stair cases and all sorts of new doors for me to play my favorite game. I hide behind the door, wait for one of my brothers to walk past, and then I run at them chirping! Mostly I just flop over when I reach them and ask if they wanna wrestle... But if it's Moose, I don't ask. I just pounce! That guy's always up for a rumble. Sparkman, I often just roll around and lick his head. And the Captain I don't wrestle. I just run around with him and then we cuddle. Yup. I am still having a blast with my brothers. I love it here!

It's my birthday! It's my birthday!!! I'm 2 whole years old now. Is that much older than 1 year old? I'm so confused. But I'm having a blast. The humans moved us to a new house & there's so much more room for me to lounge and chase my brothers. There's even a huge carpet for me and Moose to do our morning wrestling match on!

I asked Mom what we were going to do about my birthday, and she said we're going to go bake a cake & open a can of kipper snacks when Dad comes home from work. She says I'll love kipper snacks cause they're fish. And apparently I love fish... Really?! I'm so excited!

I'm going to go purr/chirp at the window again and wait for Dad. Did I mention I adore Dad? Me and Moose know who's the coolest human in the house. Or maybe even the whole world. I just can't stop giving him nose kisses and licking his beard. He's the coolest! Dad dad dad dad dad dad. DAD! Purrrrrs!

Uh-oh! Mom's figured me out! She said that the house has just been smelling like cat pee everywhere lately. Dad thought it was just wafting smell from the liter boxes... But she's figured out that I'm peeing in naughty places! Oh, noes!!! I had a accident on the bathroom carpet, TWICE! And on her soft velvety chair Moose sleeps on. Don't tell her I also pee-ed in that secret location in the basement & that other one on the front porch! She might not like that... It's a good thing I've been here long enough that they call me their kitten & part of the family. Because I overheard Mom and Dad talking, and all they plan on doing is taking me to the Vet to get checked out... Checked out?! I don't understand what that means. But I'm just glad I didn't hear her say "back to the shelter!" or "You are now our outside cat." Phew! It's good to be loved so much... Especially when I'm being naughty!

I think my humans are crazy. Today they took me for a drive. A DRIVE! When I first arrived here over a year ago, they used to take me on road trips and everything. I actually loved being in the car with them back then. But lately they hardly take me in the car for anything other than the Vet visits. And that Sparkman guy's been telling me all about the Vet. Sounds like a place I don't want to go! So today in the car I didn't just sit on Mom and purr like I used to; I squirmed and cried and silent meowed and panted and then I sat there and purred. Mom and Dad were a little confused as to why I wasn't just chillaxin' and purring by the air conditioner like I usually do. Oh, well. My days as the Car Cat might just be over.
I get to exercise every morning with the Sparkman! I LOVE hanging out with that guy. He plays fetch each morning with Mom while she drinks that coffee stuff. (YUCK!) And when he starts slowing down, she pulls out the lazer pointer! And then that red dot invades the house for a while. Battle stations, cats! Down with the red dot!!!

At first she said that I had to do five wall hops before I could give up. But she's since decided that I am actually in better shape than that. So now I have to do ten wall hop/belly bops on the wall! That means when the red dot is up the side of the wall, I have to jump up pounce at it so fiercely that my little chubby belly kinda bounces me off the wall; belly bop! She's also calling what Sparkman does for the red dot "Wall hop/belly bop/4 up/2 ft high!" meaning that he's not only hopping against the wall to get the dot, he's also bouncing his belly, getting all four feet off the ground to do it, AND he's bounced his back feet a foot or two off the ground! Wow that cat's an athlete. I'm learning from the best, I tell you.

Just between you and me, I love Mom but I think her funny terms for what we do in exercise time are just a little too alley-oop-fakey-fakey-360-double-McTwisty. That said, Sparkman must be the feline Flying Tomato cause not only does he have red hair and totally lead the competition to a new level; he likes veggies. That weirdo!

Okay, I gotta go get back to my important activities fo the day like foot washing and window watching... Or was that foot watching and window washing? Hrmmm... I better lick both just to be on the safe side. And pounce on my Moose friend.

Dad took me to the Vet for a trim in a weird place. Trust me friends, you don't want more information than that! Anyhoo, while I was there the Vet took my weight and gave me an exam for the pet insurance people. And according to the Vet I'm fat and bordering on obese! What?! Mom says I'm not fat; I'm just FLUFFY! And my Mom wouldn't lie to me. What do you think? Does all this fluff make me look fat?!

Dad said he asked her if it wasn't just part of me being a Maine Coon/possible Norwegian Forest cat breed. She said no, that she was basing her assessment on my profile. That I'm missing some nice trim shape tuck thing near my hind quarters... Whaaaa?! The only cat I know with a trim tuck is Captain Morgan. And he's obsessed with food.

The Vet told Mom & Dad to stop just putting out bins of food for us and start regulating us to half a cup of dry food a day... GROAN! That's no fun! I'll starve!!! Mom says she's trying exercise first and researching this a little. She says I keep "pudging out and then getting taller." And since Maine Coons take 3 years to get to full size; she thinks I might just be preparing for a growth spurt.

Right now we're having a box convention on the living room area rug (aka my carpet troll domain). You should try it! It's fun... Mom and Dad keep letting us keep boxes that come in the house and right now there's enough on the carpet for me, Moose & Captain Morgan to each have our own... Captain of course is sitting in one too small for any grown feline, but purring in it. Moose is napping. And I'm up and watching Mom type, and telepathically commanding her to write this. Sparkman's still campaigning for potatoes from Mom and sitting on her so she doesn't leave us on a stay-cation while another of us gets a daily diary pic! Good work, Sparkman. Keep Mom sitting!
It's sure rough being the big mouser around here. I've spent most of every day this week in the basement, hunting. Sparkman says I caught the only one down there and to give it up... What is he, nuts?!

When I'm not hunting, I've been getting in my daily fiber. And by fiber, I mean I've been gnawing on the kindling by the fireplace. Yum! I sure love the roughage!

Other than that I just had a big Attack-Lick-Rumble with Sparkman in the hallway. We run at each other, do flips and bunny kicks... Then when one of us is pinned down we both start licking each other like crazy. It's a way more fun way to get clean than just sitting and licking my fur myself. And it gets some of Sparkman's angst out. Gee that guy gets grumpy when the neighbor cat is out! I get growled at a lot when that happens. And I've learned that when he growls, he means it. When Moose growls, he doesn't always mean it. I can still attack lick the Moose when he growls; but NOT Sparkman... Mom's so proud of me for learning my brothers' boundaries! It's only taken me a whole year!

Oh, and as for Captain Morgan; I can lick him but I can't rumble at all. Apparently he's a peace loving pirate.

I'm Cat of the Day?! WOW! Thank yous HQ! And thank you to my friends! I gotta go read and thank you guys for the rosies and presents... You cats are great.

And here's my OTHER big news Mom was logging on to help me write:

I caught my first mouse!!!! Dad says the good news is that I'm a mouser; and the bad news is that it was a baby mouse. I didn't know what they meant by "Baby Mouse," so I asked the guys. Moose said it was a specific breed of Mouse, like hamsters and Mickey. Sparkman said it means that I'm a bad mouser and can only catch the little guys... Then Captain Morgan piped in and explained that one baby mouse is actually good news for us cats: means there will be a whole bunch of baby mice to pounce on! Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!

I caught it in the basement. Dad was downstairs with us when I saw it behind the paint can shelf. I pounced and dragged it out to show Dad. Moose and Captain came over to investigate, so I started growling. That's when Dad turned around and saw all that was going on. He made me drop it in a used coffee bucket so he could bring it upstairs to show Mom. She was so excited anf happy for me! I gotta go catch another... That was sooooo fun!

Dad hooked up something called a Sub-Woofer. I was scared at first that it would bark at me, but it didn't. Mostly it seems to makes boomy loud noises that shake the carpet I live on and scare Moose and me. Captain and Sparkman just look over at the TV, see it's on and ignore the noises. But me and Moose get startled and creep around looking for the scary noisy monsters. When I find Sparkman sleeping through it, I figure it out sometimes. Sparkman's such a smart kitty. And that Captain is even smarter. I sure hope I'm as smart as those guys when I grow up. Sparkman's right; it's hard being the baby!

Holy Bastet! I had no idea THAT could happen! I was outside with my brothers and humans, helping to clean up the garden. My self-assigned job was to trim the dead stickie things. So I was out there gnawing on the roughage, when something felt funny. I started gagging and pawing at my mouth, but the weirdness persisted. Mom tried to grab me and I assume kiss me, so I growled at her. Then she kept following me around with that whimpery voice and trying to grab my face. I was all "NOOOOoooo, Maw! Hiss!"

I seemed to calm down after we went inside. So Mom and Dad went off to do errands. That weirdness persisted. I kept drooling, gagging and pawing at my mouth the whole 10 million minutes they were gone. But I was also rolling around on the floor purring, so it must have looked really weird to Sparkman and Moose. When the humans came back I walked up to Moose and Mom pawing at each other through the mail slot, and did my pawing/gagging/spitting thing again.

That's it! Mom said something about calling the vet and Dad said "I'll take a look at him." Dad pick me up and look in my mouth? Okay! I just LOVE Dad! But just then I saw a chipmunk out the window so Mom and Dad were cradling me like a doll and trying to pry open my mouth while not disrupting my purr-drooling over the chipmunk.

After quite the struggle, I finally let Mom peak in my mouth. She gasped and gestured to Dad that there was something wedged up in the roof of my mouth. It was a sticky thing that was broken off and fitted in my mouth like something Mom called a dentist's bridge device or retainer (Huh?). I didn't quite understand what the humans were up to, it mostly seemed like Dad was sticking his fingers in the sides of my mouth to chew on. So I just purred and gnawed as that weirdness finally stopped!

They let me close my mouth, and there were Mom and Dad examining a wet slimey stickie thing from the garden that they claimed had been in my mouth... Nooooo! I'm not THAT weird! Oh, wait... Where'd that chipmunk go?! Ooooo! Greenies for me? Thanks Mom!

Wow, Mom's MEAN! She woke up, declared that I was stinky and gave me a bath (I just got a bath last week! I had the whole shampoo and conditioner thing. Crazy lady.). It was embarrassing, and I had to hiss at her for wiping my under tail. That's private! I was gunna clean up later, honest!

Then she grabbed Moose and took him away! She put him in a cat carrier, shoved in one of Dad's t-shirts for him to cuddle with, and off they went in the car. And here's the scary part: she came back WITHOUT THE MOOSE! I think she left him somewhere. And judging from the things he was yelling at her when they left, it was no where good. Mom says he's at the Vet getting his teeth cleaned. Moose calls them the Vampire Vets cause they always draw his blood. I don't personally know what the fuss is about if that's where he went. I love the Vet! They give hugs there. And I just can't get enough hugs.

Sparkman was sure spooked after the bath time and Moose-napping. He spent all of fetch time giving Mom loves rather than playing. I think he was trying to calm her down so she wouldn't pick on him next... Good luck with that one Sparkman! She is just a mean mean human. You can't reason with humans, they don't sleep enough. That's why they're so crabby and rude and insist on leaving the house so much... I wish they could understand cat so we could talk about these things.

For Potato Time, (Sparkman gets potatoes, the rest of us get treats.) she opened up the same old bag of treats and they were disgusting! She and Dad have been so slow at doling out this bag that the last quarter of the bag is just stale. Captain Morgan still loves them, but Moose and I are used to the finer things. If he'd been here he would have boycotted treat time with me. Instead I was alone in my snobbery and soggery.

Anybody want a human? If she doesn't bring back the Moose soon, I'll be giving mine away for real cheap: FREE! Mean cruel lady. Just wait till Dad comes home from work, he'll be on my side.

I had a new BUDDY! Her name is Abi and she loves me. CLEARLY! She came to visit and even let me spend the night in the guest room with her. I followed her around a lot, and did a lot of climbing up her leg and purring at her. She even helped me get to the big red boa (Mom hangs it over a door so I can't completely kill it.). She smells like a birder. I told her I'm a birder, and showed her my MouseBird. I also rolled around on the floor a lot to show her my mad kitten gnawing and playing skills. I've pretty much decided that the area rug in the living room is my carpet. I pounce on other kitties who lounge on it and human feet that linger too long. It's great being a kitten. I'm telling you, Captain and me were ALL OVER the house; climbing walls, running on the ceiling, flipping all ninja like through the air... Moose watched.
Mom held me down and cut my fur off! Again! She keeps trying to cut off these things she calls "burrs" or "dreadlocs." They're my fur! I need that. Especially in this time of year called "winter." She and Dad even tried to shave/buzz cut my knotty fur a few days ago. I had the last laugh, their little robotic de-furred lost battery power in the middle of it's attempt to torture me.

Dad found me my own stick from the fireplace to gnaw on in retaliation for the torture. Mom says I can mail the knots to my brother/cousin in Wisconsin! (Biologically he's my big brother; but adopted human family wise, he's my cousin.) Oh, boy!

I gotta get back to pouncing on Sparkman. Purrs and love everykitty!

I was a Daily Diary Pic yesterday!?! That's so cool!!! I'm going to write more today, just because I'm famous. Was that my first ever?! I think so!!! Thank you friends for all the presents and well wishes! This is just so so so exciting!!!

Mom and Dad have been wrapping up stuffs in pretty tastey colored paper and getting boxes in the mail that area also fun to gnaw on. My rescuer Mommy said that I used to chew up and shred cardboard. I haven't done this since I moved to this house, but I sure love gnawing on corners of boxes! And oh boy is that paper ever fun to claw and chew on. I know Mom says "NO!" but I just can't help my kitten self.

Sparkman specializes in helping Mom wrap stuff by bunny kicking to death the cardboard tubes after the paper's gone. Captain Morgan sits there trying to steal the tape to chew on. And Moose usually pounces on the scissors while Mom tries to cut the paper. So if you ever get a present or mail from us: rest assured it was through great effort on our parts to restrain ourselves long enough for that.

My other fun this week has been hiding in closets and cabinets. Mom opens something, I climb in when she's not looking, and then she has to come find me later when I'm done napping and start crying! It's a great fun game. You should try it!

There was a HUGE squirrel that came to eat out of the window feeder every day. I kept running over there to watch it and drool. The birds out there were fun to watch too, but that squirrel was as big as me without my fluff, Mom said!

And lastly, Mom and Dad brought me something called a "Cattail" that they found outside. It was fluffy and fun to bat at, but don't lick one of those things. Yuck! That fluff just sticks to every prong on your tongue! So here's a great pic Mom took of me making my Yuck Face.

I am visiting my Grandma & her cats! That Rainbow cat is sure purr-y. He even licked my head the first day I was here! Tutu the cat seems to hate me. She has a very loud hiss/spit/growl. Rainbow's little sister Niinii growls, but mostly just tries to ignore me. The humans talk a lot about missing Spot. Apparently they miss him every day here. I'm trying hard to purr and sit on laps and give loves like he did, but geez that's exhausting!

I'm having a great time hunting mice in garage, bugs in the basement, and eating TWO wet cat food meals a day! I kinda miss my brothers, who are having a vacation from my kitten-ness (According to Mom). I kitten called the hallway for Sparkman or Moose to come out and play... But these older kitties are more into napping than wrestling. Mom brings out the ball-in-track and wand toys for me.

I'm looking forward to this turkey thing that's gunna happen tomorrow! I hope you're all as lucky as me to be in the same room as a bird three times their size!!! Happy Turkey Day!!! Purrs!

Moose and I are having a regular morning wrestle match. We like rolling and bunny kick fighting in front of an audience, so we wait until Mom and Dad are drinking their coffee stuffs. Moose starts it out by walking to the carpet, flopping over like he's doing that weird Moose-Yoga stuff.

I walk in the room, give out a little "Mmmm!" chirp sound, and Moose answers with a huff or another chirp sound. I chirp back, and then run over to pounce on his exposed belly. We roll all over the carpet, play fighting and play growling at each other. It's great! And usually we're flipping each other in the air, we're bunny kicking till our ears wanna fall off, and we're only pausing now and then to catch our breaths.

And I gotta tell you, that Moose guy packs a mean wrestle! He really good and rolling me into a ball, holding me down so I can't move, and then just biting me all over. His other signature move is to get us both in a roll, then toss me up in the air to land awkwardly on my back... Yes that's right, I'm a cat, but I land on my back! He's just THAT good.

This morning, though... We're tired! But too stubborn to give up our game. So We started out the chirp and chirp back. I slowly walked over and just put my head in his paws for biting and bunny kicking. Moose kinda slowly rolled me over and bit my head, then licked it, and then bit it again. We paused as I yawned. Then we rolled a little more, but in slow motion. After a few more kicks, we unlocked our wrestle embrace and licked our paws. Then we both wandered off in opposite directions without eye contact. I went to the food, Moose to the glassed in porch. Yawn! Too early for wrestling today!

(Isn't he a blood thirsty Pirate?!) As for the humans, I've decided that Moose is right, and that Dad is just wonderful. Mom? She's okay if Dad's at work. But Dad's so cool! He lets me ride around, draped over his shoulder and bite/licking his ear! And his beard is a great place to scratch my face and shed fur on. Purrrs!

And I finally got my own harness for going outside. It's as big as Sparkman's, but a nice grey-blue color. I look so handsome! I still don't understand though, why I'm supposed to wear it. I often wiggle out of it so I can reach that grass just out of reach, or hangout with the humans by he clothesline and such. They always look down, see me naked, and then pick me up and bring me inside. I don't get it.

Anyways, I just heard Moose make that chirpy noise that lets me know I can play chase games with him! Gotta run.

As I've said before, I'm totally thrilled and delighted to have a big brother Sparkman. I pretty much follow him around all day and try to get him to play or cuddle with me. Lately I've noticed that at treat time, he gets special treats. Capt. Morgan says not to bother with his taste in foods, but everything about Sparkman fascinates me.

First he was hanging out by Mom, chattering at her, while she cut up something called "Po-tah-toes." Sparkman was lapping them up one right after the other. I sat down beside him to beg for one too. Mom leaned over and offered me a piece... I can't say it even smelled like something I wanted in my mouth. I took a sniff, and then realized it smelled like Sparkman! I sniffed him, sniffed the potato, sniffed him again... I decided to lick his head instead of the potato. And he ate the potato.

But this afternoon Mom's making something called "pickles." So she keeps throwing Sparkman things called q-come-burrs and green beans. I licked a cucumber and made a yuck-yuck head twitch at Mom. But those green beans are another story... I don't want to eat them like Sparkman, I just want to play with them! I stole one from him and hid it under the carpet. Now him and me are chasing each other around the house. He keeps pausing at the carpet and reaching under for the bean, and I pounce him. How long will this go on? I hope for HOURS!!!

I still have no idea what I am, breed wise... But hobby wise I am officially a Canoe Cat! So far I've been on two canoe day trips: Rice Lake (Minnesota) and the St. Louis River (Minnesota, Wisconsin border river!). Mom and Dad bought me a life preserver. I wear it for them now and then, but I have a hard time getting in my covered litter box with it on, so I squirm out of it a lot. Mom slaps it back on me though, whenever I start looking out at the vegetation or wild life with that lusty drooly playful expression.

So far I've only jumped out of the canoe once. We were near some cattails (CATtails?!) and I was dangling over the side batting at stuff. Then I started climbing the edge. At first Mom thought I was being clumsy and helped me back in before I touched the water. Then she realized that I was jumping over the side intensionally, and let me.

The water was muddy muddy muddy. And it smelled like a swampy mess. Mom caught my leash as I swam away from the canoe. She pulled me back in by the handle on my harness. I was all glowing eyed and happy! She seemed surprised by that. (They have a cat that eats socks and veggies, and they're surprised that the Canoe Cat likes swimming?! Goof balls!)

When we got home, I ran up to Sparkman to show off my muddy dreads. He took one sniff, laid his ears back, and ran away... I guess I was really stinky cause Mom dragged me in the bathroom and dunked me in the bath tub. Noooooo! I like swimming, but I HATE bathes. Afterward I went all wet and still kinda smelly and bathed on the bed, on the hoomins' blankets. Ha! Take THAT Mom!

But the St. Louis River went even better! I thought about hopping out when I saw the lilly pads, but decided to stay inside the boat this time. It's sure fun dangling over the edge, feeling the breeze in my fur, sniffing the air, and watching for wildlife. Those duck things are fun to watch! But watch out for those cranes & herons... They're HUGE! I went in my litter box when I saw them.

Yup. I'm now all about canoeing. And chewing on my friend Sparkman... Gotta go find him and bite him. Purrs!

I told my parents, and they've been reading and reading and looking at me all funny... I thought about it too, and decided that it's best to ask actual experts on the subject of cats: CATS! So what do you think?! What AM I?!

ps-- to help decide, I'm posting a picture of another kitty found in the same parking lot as me... We're pretty obviously biological brothers. But according to the humans, he's now my cousin!

And now they're accusing ME of giving them ringworm possibly?! Oh, sure! Blame the New Guy! How rude. I don't know why anyone would think a guy as fluffy as ME has ringworm?! Honestly!

Now if my Sparkman buddy would only stop pouting and come play with me, everything would be fine again. He's just been moping all day since that bath... It wasn't THAT bad, Sparkman! It was kinda fun!

I have a buddy! I have a buddy!!!! Me and Sparkman are like mouse-keteers. We're like titans. We're like Apollo & Artemis... okay maybe not Artemis. But it's so cool! I have a buddy to romp around the house with and bite on and play with and everything!!! Periodically he gets annoyed with me and tells me to go take a break. But mostly, he just lets me follow him around.

And we're teaching each other what Mom calls "Bad habits." Apparently he's being bitey with Mom when they play (like me when I'm excited). And I've started growling and protecting my prey when I catch it outside... But one thing we're up to that Mom LOVES is that when Sparkman finds something and tries to eat it, I steal it from him and take it over to show her! She's just so happy. Apparently he EATS this stuff?! That's one habit of his I'll skip!

Whoo hoo! I'm gunna go bite my buddy's head now.

I'm being a good kitten. This last week, the humans think I've been only doing my business in the litter boxes!!! And I've befriended the orange hissy guy & grey growl/hiss dude. My Captain friend is nice to me, but he doesn't seem to be much into wrestling. That orange guy, though! Wow! He really packs a bunny kick! We're getting along great.

And I caught another mouse in the garden. This time it was a tiny baby mouse with BIG eyes... Mom's wondering if that mouse Sparkman & I caught last week was a girl mouse with babies! This time, she got the mouse away from us before we killed it. Then I got loves and praises from my Mom. Good human, I like you too! Purrs

Most cats don't like being in a car? Huh?! What's not to like! The humans have nothing better to do but sit there and pet you! I personally kinda like it... So I just went on a little road trip with my humans! We went across the state to check in on my Auntie's & Uncle's House (It's doing fine, still on the market.), then to someplace called Itaska State Park where the Mississippi River starts.

Along the way, they told me the story of Perseus. And I learned something new: My Dad is ZEUS! My Mom's a mortal Danae, which is great too. But ZEUS?! Whoa! I better start calling him by his proper name, or he might smite me.

The Itaska place I wouldn't recommend for other car cats. I got out of the car and was standing there on my leash by a sign that said "800 feet to start of Mississippi River." And I was all set to go, when I saw the biggest dog ever. It had a thousand teeth and then I noticed screaming, hyper children with a hundred hands to pull cat tails!!! I freaked out. The car's not scary; but kids are TERRIFYING! I accidentally clawed up Mom while she was getting me in the car. But she and Zeus seemed to understand that that last 800 feet was just too much for me. So I stayed in the car with my water cup and munchies. Had a great time! They came back to find a purring Purrseus. I sniffed Zeus's feet all over (he'd walked in the headwaters), so I know just what it looks like. It's great, but too many kids.

All in all it was a great bonding experience for me and the new humans. When I got back inside last night, my new brothers sniffed me all over. No one hissed at me! They could smell Mom and Zeus all over me and just knew... I'm part of the family now!!!

Oh! So that strange, badly shaped litter box by the fireplace isn't a litter box? It's apparently something called an "Ash Bucket." All I know is that it's so small that I was missing while perching on it, and then having to paw that powdery gray stuff out of it and onto the floor (and some books; and the cat beds...). Oops, my bad!

New Mom says it's gross, but an honest mistake. Then New Dad cleaned the bucket, while Mom vacuumed the floor. Man, these are the moments that I realize I've found a good home. I hear that missing litter boxes & using the wrong places are like #1 on why cats lose their homes... My new humans just cleaned it up and forgot about it! Phew!

And as a side note; I think that Sparkman cat's a Gorgon. When he looks at me and makes that noise, I swear I turn to stone every time. He's one scary dude cat. I'm not gunna mess with him any more. Captain, however, is still very fun to jump on!

HUGE news! Last night for the first time: I chased Captain Morgan, and then he turned around and chased ME!!!! I think I finally have a friend! I'm following him around and purring at him this morning. He's kinda lounging a lot on tall things and looking down at me. He doesn't want to play every minute of every day?! What gives?!

That big orange guy, Sparkman sure doesn't like me being buds with that Captain Morgan guy. He keeps coming over, hissing, and then trying to get the Captain Morgan away from me. Captain Morgan's kinda ignoring both of us. He's more interested in nose kissing Mom and asking for greenies. (Is THAT how you get more treats around here?!)

My new humans left all weekend. And apparently the proper response to them being gone (as Captain Morgan has taught me) is to howl and cry and throw yourself on the floor in a mellow dramatic fit of starvation. Then you get wet food! Whoo hoo! Great trick, Captain Morgan! But warn me next time you do it. This time I totally thought that you were dying.

And this morning the humans set up something called a Fan. It moves around and blows air and scares me. I'm hunching up like a halloween kitty and racing around, away from the invisible monster blowing air on me. And chirping like it's a game of course. And Mom says she's about to chase me around with a camera, but with how fast i'm racing; there might not be a picture of this. (Mom says: Dang it! He's too cute!!!)

I'm sure wishing these new brothers of mine would play with me. I have high hopes for that Captain Morgan guy. He lets me bump noses and eat out of the same catfood bowl already. But those other two sure have the growls. And that Sparkman character fluffs as big as a titan when he seems me. And I swear his growls will turn me to stone soon.
