A big giant thank you to all of our thoughtfur furiends who sent us beautiful bouquets of flowers. Those flowers really brighten up our pages and we loved reading all the messages. We also love the Passover Cups we received even though we were perplexed at first why Catster would offer this gift for Mother’s Day. Then we found out it was a big time flea – MOL. We still enjoyed receiving them and hearing from our friends, so thanks Catster! It’s the thought that counts, right?

We are enjoying lots of warm weather here in sunny Catifornia - we’ve already hit 90 degrees a few days in April in May, and these aren’t even our hot months. Mom has the windows open almost every day so we all like to hang out and watch the birdies build their nests and smell all the wonderful flowers.

Hope everyfur is having a purrtastic Spring!

I have to list my 5 favorite things about Spring:

1. Fresh air blowing in from open windows ~ ahhhhhh!
2. Increased bird activity ~ I love to watch them build nests from my cat perch in the front window ~ fun!
3. Watching squirrels through open windows and listening to them chatter.
4. Longer days means more sunshine and sun puddles to nap in.
5. BBQ chicken. Warm weather means more barbecue time ~ yummy!

I will have to find some kitties who have not been tagged yet and ask them to play. Happy Spring Everybuddy!

Today is our Gotcha Day – hooray! Mommy found me and Sammy through a local rescue group and brought us home 3 years ago today. We had been brought to the Humane Society when we were itty bitty kittens after someone found us in a dumpster. A nice foster Mommy took care of us until we found our forever home. We are very lucky kitties, and we know this. Every kitty deserves a warm and loving home with plenty of food and toys.

If you can spare some purrs, can you please purr for our brofur, Luke. He started feeling sick yesterday and threw up a couple of times during the night. He is not eating very much and is sleeping a lot. He is not acting like our Lukey at all and we are very worried about him. Mom just got back a little while ago from taking him to see the vet. He received some fluids, a shot to prevent him from vomiting, a shot to make his tummy feel better (Pepcid), and an antibiotic since he is running a fever. Mommy decided to take the conservative approach first and see how he does over the next 24 hours with the medication and fluids. The vet did not feel anything suspicious in his belly, but if he’s not better by tomorrow, Mom will take him back in for some tests. He’s never been sick before so Mommy is quite worried about him. He can be a real pain in the butt sometimes, but we all love him just the same and want him well. My Gotcha Day wish is for Lukey to feel like his old self again.

Thank you to my pawsome pals who stopped by to wish us a Happy Gotcha Day. We will write more later and let you know how Luke is doing.

Yesterday Mommy and Daddy were gone for several hours to go to a picnic. Mommy wasn’t sure what time they’d get home so she put some extra cat food down in case she was back late to feed us dinner. It was a very warm day and she should have known better. When she got home in the early evening she noticed me, Sammy, Luke, and Tully staring at something on the kitchen floor. She looked closer to see what we were staring at when she noticed the army of ants. Ewwwww! There were lots and lots of them marching across the floor straight to our cat food bowls ~ ick! Mommy quickly picked up our bowls and put them in the sink and turned the water on and drowned all those critters. Then she got the mop out and cleaned the kitchen floor until there were no more ants.

Whenever ants decide to invade our house they usually come from underneath the house through the patio or kitchen door. It's always when we get a heat wave. Daddy got out the white powder and made a little barricade around all the door frames (*note from Mommy: the powder is diatomaceous earth). Mommy says the ants don’t like this white powder and it keeps them away. Plus it’s safe for pets and won’t hurt us.

This morning Mom went straight to the kitchen when she woke up to make sure no more ants had come in overnight. Nothing. Whew! Stay away ants!

“Ladies with an attitude
Fellows that were in the mood
Don't just stand there, let's get to it
Strike a pose, there's nothing to it” ~ Madonna

Mom says I am a very beautiful kitty. I have silky black fur and I am very petite and feminine looking – a natural beauty. So how come Mom can’t get any good photos of me that accentuate my beauty?

My silly brofurs hang all over the cat furniture, they sunbathe in the sunbeams of our windows, they sleep in cute and funny positions, and they play out in the open with all our kitty toys. They love the camera and they take great photos - you’d think they were posing for GQ! Mom has hundreds, actually thousands, of photos of Luke, Tully, and Sammy, but very few of me.

I do not nap out in the open; I usually find a closet or some small dark space to curl up in. I rarely hang out on the cat furniture or sleep in a sunbeam. I do not like to pose for the camera. I play with our toys, but usually in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep. My favorite spot to curl up in during the evening when Mom and Dad are in the living room is on top of our AT&T U-verse box under our television – MOL. Not exactly a glamorous, or even attractive spot for Mom to take flattering photos of me.

The best photos we have of me were taken in our backyard in natural sunlight last summer. But I am no longer allowed in the backyard, even with strict supervision. I have escaped over our back fence right in front of Mom’s eyes despite the fact that there is a cat fence in our yard to prevent us from climbing over. I am so quick and agile that I can climb up the bushes and hop over the fence in a matter of seconds. Mom can’t risk me eloping anymore, so I’m not allowed outside. Forget the harness; I won’t let that thing near me.

It’s been quite a while since Mom’s been able to get any good shots of me. She doesn’t use the flash much with us anymore mainly because she is not very good with flash photography and she thinks we look better in natural lighting. Mom is getting furry frustrated because she’d like to get more photos of me, but I just won’t cooperate.

Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it!

But you’d never know it by looking at my pictures.

Mom took some new photos of my brofurs playing with their new Catmas toys. How come there aren’t any of me you ask? Well, it’s because it’s becoming harder and harder lately for Mom to take any pictures of me - I run whenever I see the camera. I’ve never been fond of posing for the camera, but lately it’s become nearly impossible for Mom to get any pictures of me.

I love playing with all our new Catmas toys; I just won’t be seen playing with them in front of the camera. We had company over yesterday so the house was kind of noisy and I was in hiding for most of the day. I did come out last night and played with some of the new mousie toys. I also removed the tablecloth from the dining room table, which was fun.

I hope everyfur had a nice Christmas!

It’s starting to look a lot like Catmas around here. Mommy finally got the decorations out last weekend and started decorating the house. Everything was stored away in giant plastic boxes, so naturally we were all curious cats and had to circle around the boxes and check them out. We were a little too interested in the small Catmas trees that Mommy usually places on the hall and dining room tables, so she hid those away in the closet before going to bed. Too bad, it would have been fun to try and climb those little trees in the middle of the night and play with all the pretty lights.

Sammy and I celebrated our 2nd Gotcha Day today. Mommy can’t believe it’s already been 2 years since we have been in our forever home. She still remembers the day our foster Mom from our rescue group delivered us to the house in our little kitty carrier. She put the carrier down on the living room floor so Luke and Tully could meet us, and I hissed at Lukey – teehee! I was 3 months old, weighed only 3 pounds, and was a feisty little girl even back then.

Sammy and I were named "Leo and Cleo" when Mommy first met us. Our pawrents decided that those names really didn't suit our purrsonalities so we were given new names once we were adopted. Mommy wanted a Christmas name for me since we were adopted just before Christmas and Daddy named Sammy after the singer/rocker Sammy Hagar because of his long reddish blond fur, and because Sammy rocked the house – MOL. He really was a handful as a kitten but has matured into a sweet and loving boy, says Mommy.

Thank you sweet friends for stopping by today and leaving us so many lovely comments, pawmails, and gifts. We really are some of the luckiest kitties in the world to have found a loving home and so many wonderpurr pals.

Love and hugs,
Natasha

Does that surprise you? Mom sometimes wishes that I was a little less shy and elusive, but that’s just the way I am. She has a heck of time taking pictures of me because I run away from her whenever she comes near me with that camera – tee hee! My brofurs do all these silly lovebug poses for Mom and her camera - you’ll never find me doing that!

I was tagged by two of my favorite pals; the sweet and funny Tink and my sweet little orangie lovebug purr boy Ollie.

Since there are two different games of tag, I’ll start with Tink’s since she tagged me first:

1. Do you make demands of your human? Not really. 0 points

2. If you make demands by doing any of the following, give yourself 1 point for each:
Persistent meowing - no
Biting - no
Smacky Paws - no
Relentless staring - no
Inappropriate behaviors (i.e., chewing on furniture, electrical cords, the oven) I do jump on top of furniture and knock things on the floor – 1 point

3. If you make demands by doing any of the following, subtract 1 point:
Head bonking 0
Rubbing and purring on your human 0

4. If you let your humans rub your belly, subtract 2 points. 0

5. If you let anyone kiss your belly, subtract 5 points. 0

6. Are you Head of your Household (HOH)? Nope – that would be my big brofur Luke – 0 points.

7. If you have kitty (or other animal) siblings, do you (give yourself 1 point for each Yes):
Eat their food? 0
Demand that they groom you? 0
Chase them? 1 (tee hee!)
Stare at them relentlessly? 0
Stalk them? 1
Pounce on them? 1
Make them meow? 0
Steal their (well, *your*) toys? 1 (mine, all mine!)
Make them growl? 0
Make their ears go backwards? 0
Pretend to be grooming (or staring at the wall, ceiling, etc.) while actually stalking them? 0

8. Have you ever destroyed household items? (1 point for each yes)
Furniture? 1
Clothing or shoes? 0
Kitty Toys? 1

9. Please list any other crazy things you do that are ridiculously feisty (1 point per).
1 point- drawing blood from Daddy whenever he holds me to get my nails trimmed
1 point- jumping on top of the bedroom armoire in the middle of the night and making a lot of noise
1 point – dismantling the pet fountain and splashing water all over the floor

Total Score (Place your score/name in your Diary Title):

My Score is 10 – I’m a cool cat of course!

6-15 COOL CAT: You are one cool cat. Smooth with a touch of mischief. You’ve got a bit of feisty in you and a bit of lovebug. Balance is good; you know how to have a good time by chasing and pouncing AND you know how to have a good time by being a mellow kitty and just hanging out. You are a cool cat!

Now for Ollie’s tag game - this is “getting to know you better” tag:

1. Do you wear a collar? If so, what color?
I have a pink collar, but rarely wear it. Mommy is afraid we’ll get injured since we are a rowdy bunch of kitties. I wear my collar with my emergency tag if I have to go to the vet or outside the house - all of us are microchipped, too.

2. What kind of food do you like?
I eat wet and crunchy food. I love shredded chicken and turkey when Mommy allows me to have it.

3. What are your favorite treats?
Freeze dried chicken treats.

4. Do you have a Valentine or a significant other?
My little purr pal Ollie was my very first Valentine! He’s so cute and funny.

5. Do you get table scraps?
We sometimes get chicken and turkey from the table. Mom has offered us salmon and other fish, but we don’t seem to like it much.

6. What is your favorite toy?
Catnip mousies. I also love my Kickeroo. Mommy laughs when she sees me carrying it around the house in my mouth because it’s almost as big as I am – tee hee!

7. When is your Birthday?
September 23

8. How many times a day do you eat?
I’m a nibbler and like to have small meals throughout the day.

9. Do you have a favorite color
Pink!

10. Do you have any siblings? If so, do you like them?
Sammy is my littermate and we were adopted together, so I have special bond with him. I adore Tully, he’s super sweet and gentle and allows me to snuggle with him. Sometimes Luke will lick me on top of the head, so I guess he’s okay!

I'm not going to tag anyone in particular, but I hope you will consider playing if you haven't already!

I was just sneaking quietly around Catster tonight and I got tagged! Yep, my gal pal Zoe Kona Sunshine just tagged me. I guess I’ll have to be quicker and sneakier next time - MOL.

To play, copy the 6 questions below and paste/answer them in your diary. Then tag some friends to play, too!

1. Meow! Are you a noisy kitty or a quiet kitty?
-- I am VERY quiet. No one usually knows if I am in the room or not. I am a Ninja kitty and can appear anywhere when you least expect it! Tee hee!

2. Litterbox! Cover your business or let some other kitty cover?
-- Are you kidding me? I am a lady cat, not a stinky boy cat. Ain’t nobody’s business but my own - I always cover.

3. Happy! Favorite Daily Routine?
-- I don’t have a lot of routines. I like to keep things interesting and mysterious so my humans are always guessing about me. I do get a serious case of the zoomies several times a week and fly around the house like a little bat. I run up and down the hall, jump on top of the furniture, on top of the armoire, I love to run and climb on tall things - that’s how I got my nickname Bat Girl.

4. Hiss! Least Favorite Routine?
-- It’s a toss-up between nail clipping and topical flea treatments - both of those things really tick me off. I have been known to draw blood if the humans attempt to come anywhere near me with nail clippers or “flea juice” as Daddy calls it.

5. Ding-Dong! What do you think about visitors to your house?
-- I don’t like visitors; I never have and never will. I like my privacy and will hide under the bed or inside the closet whenever strangers come over.

6. Friends! Do you like other animals?
-- I love my brofurs. I was very bonded to Sammy at one time but now I adore Tully. He allows me to snuggle with him on the bed. I’ve never been around any animals except my kitty brofurs. I don’t like those barking things – they are very noisy and not very smart as far as I can tell.

If you are reading this and you want to play, consider yourself tagged! Be sure to let your friends know they've been tagged by sending them a message or rosette. Angels can play, too. Tell us about your life at the bridge or your life at home before the bridge.

I see a lot of furs have been tagged already so I’ll have to think about who I can tag next!

He made such a racket I had to run and hide under the bed. Luke, Tully, and Sammy are hiding, too. We don’t like strange people in our house and we especially don’t like all the noise.

I heard Mommy talking to the man about installing a new tub and shower and some “fixtures.” Don’t know what those are, but do we really need them? Why do humans even need a tub and shower anyway? We kitties stay perfectly clean without them.

I’m going to hide underneath the bed today until this strange man leaves. Please purr that he doesn’t stay too long ~ I'm very scared right now.

So Mom has been trying to “train” me to use a harness – MOL, good luck with that Mom! Ever since my escape from the backyard a couple of weeks ago, she thinks she can put a leash on me and walk me like a dog.

Just because Luke and Tully are puppy cats and were able to be harness trained, she thinks she can do the same with me. I am more like a wild black panther, there’s nothing dog-like about me. Mom is not optimistic about me adjusting to the harness, but she hasn’t given up hope yet. She has tried to put it on me in the house, but as soon as I see it, I run. Isn’t gonna happen. No way, no how.

I read some sad news this morning. A sweet kitty named Charlie went to the Bridge on Thursday, May 26. He didn’t have a lot of furiends on Catster and his human is so sad. If you have a moment, will you please stop by his page and offer your paw in friendship and purrhaps leave a comforting word on his diary today?

Thank you so much - the love and support of our Catster furiends is just pawsome!

Oh kitties, you must testify on my behalf! I did a bad, bad thing.

Some of you know that we have cat fence to help keep us inside our backyard. We are indoor kitties but Mommy knows how much we all love the great outdoors so she allows us outside in the backyard when the weather is nice - with supervision.

Last Sunday, she let her guard down and I escaped from the yard. We were all outside in the backyard in the morning and Mom went inside the house briefly to do something. I took advantage of the situation and hopped the fence. The boys don’t seem to know how to escape, but I am an excellent climber and can use the bushes to help aid my escape, cat fence or no cat fence. I did not come home for the entire day. Mom was frantic. She searched the entire neighborhood for me.

Mom was up all night with a flashlight looking for me in the yard. She called my name. She prayed I would return home unharmed. I did not come home, not until the following morning. No one knows where I was. Mom was so relieved to see me in the backyard the next morning. I ran up to her all bright eyed and bushy tailed.

But now I am under house arrest. No more going outside for me. I am so sad. I love to go outside and explore, but Mom will not permit me to go outside anymore.

I’m afraid Mom will never let me outside again.

I have been tagged by my cute furiend Skylar to play the Name Game!

Here's how it works…

What's in a name?

Copy and Paste, then Tag 2 cats
If your kitties may not be known then leave their url or create a link to them. Your kitties can be anybody! Cool! Can't wait to see your answers.

1) cat with a human name - Zach. His full name in Zachery Tristin Byrne, but we just call him Zach. Concats to Zach for being Cat of the Day today, he’s just an all-around cool Dood!

2) cat named after a famous person - Napoleon. Our wonderpurr Catstertown co-admin and good pal, he is a funny kitty with a great sense of humor.

3) cat named after a food or drink - Samoa. She’s sweeter than a cookie and smart as whip - no wonder this girl is head of her household!

4) cat named after an inanimate object - River. Even though he looks a lot like my brofur Luke, I think he’s purrty cute, and how can you not love a kitty that does the Happy River Dance?

5) cat named after a celebrity or character - Dirty Harry. He may be a tough guy on the outside, but he’s really a sweetie whose nickname is Cookie Puss – MOL!

6) cat with coolest nickname I know - Olivia Pickles aka Ollie Popoki – love both of her names!

7) cat with the coolest name ever – this is really tough because we know a lot of kitties with cool names, but one of the coolest cats we know is Gump named after the character Forrest Gump. This is one of Mommy’s favorite movies and Gumpy is one of our favorite kitties here on Catster!

8) cat with a name that just screams summer - Sunflower. A purrty kitty with a lovely page covered in sunflowers!

I think a lot of kitties may have been tagged by now, but if you haven’t been tagged yet and would like to play, please consider yourself tagged!

I decided to play an April Fool’s joke on Mommy this morning. Because we’ve been having such warm weather the past couple of days, Mom has been letting us go outside in the backyard for a little while in the morning to get some fresh air and sunshine. Since I am such a good climber, she really has to keep a close watch on me because I can jump up on the roof of the shed which is then an easy hop to the top of the back fence. A couple times I have even jumped into the neighbor’s yard. Sure enough, mom was distracted for a few seconds this morning, and that’s all it took. Voila, I was up on the fence! Mom was able to coax me down and bring me back inside. I was just trying to play a little game with her. Chillax, Mom!

My really exciting news is that my purr pals from the Kewlest Catster Kitties (KCK) Group are honoring me as April’s Kitty of the Month. I am the first one in my family to be a Kitty of the Month - I am so honored! They sent me a giant trophy, a purrty picture memento, and my photo is on a banner on their main page – how kewl! They are such a fun group, I love to hang out with those kitties. Thank you KCK Group!

I want to wish all the kitties celebrating a birthday or Gotcha Day today the very best! Lots and lots of kitties are celebrating today - woohoo!

Thank you Catster for featuring me as a diary pick yesterday! And thank you SO MUCH to my pawsome friends who stopped by to leave me comments, pawmails, rosies, and so many beautiful picture mementos. I’m such a lucky cat to have so many wonderpurr pals!

It was my human Daddy’s birthday yesterday so we had a double celebration. Mommy and Daddy went and played in the snow all day to celebrate Daddy’s birthday, so we didn’t find out about my DDP honor until this morning. Mom and Dad were supposed to spend the night at the ski area last night, but since snow was coming in again late yesterday and they didn’t want to get stuck in the mountains, they decided to drive all the way home last night after spending the day skiing.

Good thing they came home when they did because they made it just in time to catch a new episode of “Must Love Cats." Kitties, if you get the Animal Planet Channel, you must tune in to this show because it is a winner! It features great stories about people and the cats they love. They replayed the “Tats for Cats” story and also showed a new episode we had not seen before. So many paw inspiring cat stories, I hope many of you were able to watch it.

Although Mom is very intrigued about getting a “Cat Tat” she really is afraid of needles. Also, she would not be able to get a tattoo of just one us, it would have to be all four cats and that’s a lot of tattoos! So for now, Mom won’t be getting a Cat Tat, but she loves the idea and she also loves that the tattoo artists in Chicago are donating all the proceeds from this fundraiser to a local no-kill shelter. High paws to them!

We were watching one of our favorite kitty shows on the Animal Planet channel last night with Mom. One of the stories was about some tattoo artists who create the most beautiful tattoos from kitty photos that their owners bring in. All the proceeds go to an animal rescue organization in their town.

I thought this was the most purrtastic story! Do any of you kitty Moms or Dads have any tattoos of your fur kids on your body? My Mom is a big chicken when it comes to needles, and probably wouldn’t do it, but I’m trying to convince her that a little portrait of me on her ankle would be oh-so-classy!

I have exciting news! I have a special Valentine named Ollie. I can’t believe how much we have in common. He is very shy like me and loves to play and snuggle with his brofurs. My brofurs are very special to me, too.

I’m not even sure Ollie knows this, but his brofur Alfie had a special part in bringing us together. When Mom first joined Catster in early 2009, she only had Luke and Tully. There were a couple of handsome orangie kitties on Catster at the time that Mommy fell in love with and one of them was Alfie, now a sweet angel. She really wanted to find an orangie kitty that would fit in with Luke and Tully.

Mom searched the SPCA and local rescue groups for an orangie and found my brofur Sammy. She went to visit Sammy one evening at our foster home and found him running around the house chasing me. We were 3 months old at the time, younger than Mom was looking for, but Sammy had the purrsonality she was looking for. Mommy could see how bonded we were to each other and didn’t see how she could possibly split us up. So if Mom had not adopted Sammy, she never would have found me. And if Mommy had never seen Alfie on Catster, who knows if Sammy would be here?

Neither of our Moms allows dating or marriage, so we are very happy to be good furiends. I love Ollie very much and am so happy that he asked me to be his Valentine!

My purr pal, Hunter, just tagged me. I am supposed to list 5 of the most annoying things my humans do…really, only five? I’m sure I could come up with a longer list, but I’ll play by the rules:

1. Not being allowed outdoors. I know how to jump over the back fence and escape from the yard, so I am not allowed outside anymore (boo hiss!)

2. Getting my nails trimmed. Daddy holds me in a bear hug while Mommy cuts with those nasty trimmers – there really should be a law against this.

3. When humans try to pick me up or hold me. I will tolerate a small amount of gentle petting, but I do not like to be held. Admire me from afar, please.

4. Not being allowed to eat chicken (the human kind) for every meal. I get it as an occasional treat, but most of the time we get food from a can – how uncivil can you get?

5. Being told that I cannot climb on top of the bedroom armoire in the middle of the night. I don’t know why the humans insist on making such a big deal out of this.

I'm supposed to tag some friends now, but it looks like a lot of cats have been tagged, so please consider yourself tagged if you’d like to play!

What a wonderpurr surprise to be honored yesterday as Catster’s COTD! Thank you HQ and thank you to my purrtastic furiends who stopped by to celebrate with me. But where in the heck is Mom? I haven’t seen her since Monday morning when she left the house with a suitcase. I’m so upset she’s not here to celebrate with me…

*From Natasha’s Mom* I am so sorry to have missed my little girl’s special day yesterday. I had to travel to Portland, Oregon for a conference this week and we haven’t been on Catster since I left Monday morning. I knew something was up when I received a larger than normal amount of e-mails yesterday, and then I saw the one from Catster announcing that Natasha was COTD. Naturally this made me start crying because it just reminded me of how much I miss my sweet little fur kids when I have to be away from home.

The worst part of traveling is being away from my kitties (and my dear husband, of course). I cannot sleep at night without them next to me on the bed. I miss watching them run around the house playing and acting silly. I even miss them waking me up at the crack of dawn. A big part of my home life revolves around the cats, and when I don’t have them around me, it leaves a huge void and makes me miss them all that much more.

Thank you for all the sweet messages, comments, gifts and pawmails for Natasha. As we’ve written before in our diaries, these Catster honors would mean very little to us without having our furiends here to help us celebrate – we really do love you all.

Much Love, Natasha and Mom

We have a lot of fun cat toys at our house, but my all-time favorite (for this week anyway) is a mouse that squeaks when I carry him in my mouth or bat him around in the air. Mommy heard that mouse squeaking all night long. I carried him from room to room and played with him. Squeak, squeak, squeak. This morning Mommy found Mr. Mousie next to one of the cat food bowls on the kitchen floor. A few days ago she found him IN the cat food bowl – MOL!

Mom wonders why I am doing this. Humph! I guess she doesn’t get my hint that I’d like a mousie burger for my next meal!

Today marks one year since Sammy and I came to our forever home. Mom can’t believe it’s already been that long. It seems like only yesterday we were 3 month old kittens chasing each other around the house. Now we are 15 months old and still chasing each other around the house - I guess some things will never change!

Life didn’t start out so good for us. The story goes that we were found in a dumpster when we were 4 weeks old. No one knows how we got there exactly but our Mommy chooses to believe that maybe our Momcat gave birth to us there and not that some mean human could have put us there on purpose. Lucky for us, someone found us and took us to the animal shelter. A nice rescue group took us from the shelter and we were fostered by a very nice lady who lives in our city.

I was 3 months old and weighed about 3 pounds when Mom took us in. I was one of the most timid kitties Mom has ever met. I stayed by Sammy’s side and would cower and hide if anyone tried to come near me or pet me. I’m still very timid and don’t like to be touched much, but I’ll let Mom groom me occasionally and I will sleep next to her on the bed as long as she doesn’t pet me too much. One of Mommy’s favorite memories is when our foster Mom brought us over to the house in our cat carrier; she placed it on the living room floor so Luke and Tully could sniff us and check us out. Well, I hissed at those big boy cats, I did not want them near me. Mom knew right then and there I was going to be a feisty girl. When you grow up in a house surrounded by boy cats you have got to let them know who is in charge (giggle giggle).

Here it is one year later and I have to say that life is pretty good. We have warm beds to sleep in, good food to eat, and plenty of toys. I wish all kitties could be so lucky. Thanks to all my wonderful furiends who stopped by today to wish me a Happy Gotcha Day!

Hi Kitties, I wanted to paw a little note in my diary since it’s been awhile since Mom has sat down and helped me type anything.

When you live in a house with 3 brofurs who are bigger and more demanding of Mom and Dad’s attention, sometimes you feel a little left out. Mom tries to give all of us equal love and time, but those boys can really be attention hogs. They are always hanging around Mom or Dad while I’m content to be off by myself in another room playing with my toys.

I’m going through a growth spurt right now although I’m still on the small side. Mom doesn’t know my exact weight; I’ll get weighed later this month when Sammy and I go in for our annual checkups. I think Mom said something about shots, too (ouch); I’m not looking forward to that.

My Gotcha Day is coming up in a couple of weeks, so that will be something fun to celebrate. Oh, and Christmas, too. I can’t wait to see what presents Santa brings us.

Kitties, before I sign off, I have to mention something that I read in a furiend’s diary last night that made me really sad. This furiend wrote that he and his family were thinking about taking a permanent break from Catster because of some hurtful things that other cats said to him and his Mommy. This is not the first time we have heard something like this and it saddens me to think that anyfur would leave Catster because of hurtful things other cats have said. Catster is supposed to be a fun place for kitties to love and support one another and there is no need for hurtful words to be tossed towards another kitty or his family.

That's all for now, hope everyfur is finding some time to enjoy a little holiday cheer!

Many of us set our clocks back one hour this past Sunday. Mommy doesn’t understand the logic of “springing forward” one hour or “falling back” one hour, and it always throws her off for a few days whenever we change the time.

Sunday morning she was happy to gain one hour of sleep, or at least she thought she did. With us kitties in the house, Mommy actually loses sleep regardless of the time change – MOL! We have our own internal clocks and we decide what time it is to wake up.

Yesterday when she came home from work, she felt like she lost an hour because it was so dang dark outside. We are used to going outside in the backyard when Mom comes home and now it seems we won’t get as much play time outside until next spring when the days are longer. When Mom came home she felt like there was barely enough time to cook dinner, feed us, then it was time for bed. Wait Mom; didn’t you gain an extra hour? Somehow is doesn’t feel like it.

I don’t know about this time stuff. If it’s dark outside, I like to play. If it’s daylight, I like to sleep. I think humans have it all backwards.

Mommy remembers a song from the disco era from a Pop Diva named Donna Summer called “Bad Girls.” She says the entire lyrics are “not fit for my young ears,” whatever that means, but I reminded her of the song and the refrain “toot toot, hey, beep beep” when we went on a recent road trip.

You see, Mommy insists on taking us kitties camping in our motor home even though I try to tell her that “kitties don’t camp.” Mommy refuses to leave us at home with a pet sitter, so the four of us go along, reluctantly, on these “trips.” Daddy votes for us staying home with a pet sitter, but his vote doesn’t count as much as Mommy’s – MOL!

A few nights ago, around 2 a.m. (Mommy distinctly remembers the time because she looked at her watch), she heard us playing in the front of the motor home as we often do in the middle of the night. She and Daddy were trying to sleep in the back of the motor home (I emphasize the word “try” - giggle, giggle) while the four of us were running around and playing.

All of a sudden, Mommy heard “toot toot, hey, beep beep.” Silly Daddy forgot to tilt the steering wheel of the motor home before he went to sleep, so I was able walk across it and toot the horn in the middle of the night! We were in the middle of a crowded camping ground, so I’m sure the ALL the campers heard it, too! Mommy flew out of bed to see who was blasting the horn, and of course it was MOI!!! Tee hee!

Toot toot, hey, beep beep!

Oh my catness, thank you to all my wonderpurr friends who stopped by today to wish me and Sammy a Happy First Birthday. Mommy and I were overwhelmed by the pawmails, comments, and presents that were sent to us. Birthdays are so much more special when you have great friends to celebrate them with. Mommy will help me write all my thank you’s later when she has a bit more time. She says something called “work” is interfering with our Catster time this week – I’m not too happy about that, I might add. But we really loved reading all the comments and kind words, so know that it means a lot to us!

I guess you get to make a wish on your birthday. Some people say that you have to keep the wish a secret in order for it to come true, but I don’t believe that. Some people say that black kitties are bad luck, and we certainly know that isn’t true! You may know from reading my story and Sammy’s that we were rescued from a dumpster when were about 4 weeks old. A rescue group took us from the animal shelter and fostered us until Mommy adopted us when were 3 months old. We know we were very fortunate to end up in a safe and loving home, not all kitties are so lucky.

This is a very big wish, but I’m going to wish for it anyway. After all, it’s my first birthday, so I can wish big, can’t I? There’s so much love and kindness here on Catster, I wish there were a way to share it and spread it around more so that kitties who are not loved and who don’t have homes, could feel some of the love that most of us here on Catster are so fortunate to have.

That would be the best birthday present ever!

Mommy thinks I am one of the shyest kitties she has ever known. When she came to visit me and Sammy at our foster Mom’s house last December, I ran away and wouldn’t come near her. Foster Mommy told her that I was very attached to Sammy and she hoped we could get adopted as a pair. She also said I would need to go to a special home where they could be very patient with me and help me overcome my shyness. Mommy had her eye on Sammy at first, but when she saw how small and shy I was, she decided that she wanted to adopt me, too. Mommy likes a challenge – hehe.

I am not very social around people. I love my brofurs, but I don’t trust people yet. I’ll stay in the same room as Mom and Dad, but I always remain several feet away from them either curled up on the cat tree or perched at the edge of the carpet ready to flee at a moment’s notice. If any human gets too close, I run and hide.

Lately I’ve been coming out of my shell a little bit, especially when I am outside in the backyard. Mom likes to Zoom Groom all of us outside so the fur doesn’t fly all over the house. At first I would not let Mommy near me with the Zoom Groom, but now I really like it. If she is grooming Luke, Tully, or Sammy, I will push my way in and insist on getting groomed, too. I purr and purr and Mom can tell that I really enjoy it.

Maybe I will surprise her one day and jump in her lap – now that would really make her smile!

I got my morning off to a purrfect start today – with zoomies!

I started zooming around the house starting at about 4 a.m. I ran up and down the hall, back and forth, at top speed. I flew around the corner of the dining room and kitchen and skidded across the floor. I splashed water from the pet fountain all over the kitchen floor. I pushed Mommy’s keys off the dining room table (giggle giggle).

Let’s see, what else? I jumped up on the dresser and looked around for something else to knock over, but then Mom heard me and started to get out of bed, so I RAN. I got the boys chasing after me, too, so we created quite a stampede. Then I joined Sammy in the bathroom where we shredded some toilet paper together – MOL!

Zoomies are just so much fun. It’s going to be a great day!

So here I was trying to enjoy a beautiful summer morning in our backyard. The sun is shining, it’s a comfy 73 degrees, and I’m exploring all around the yard. I’m chasing butterflies and smelling all the flowers when out of the bushes jump the paparazzi, aka Mommy!

I’ve only been outside a handful of times, and always under Mommy’s watchful eye, so you’d think she’d let me explore the backyard in peace. But no, she’s got that annoying clicking thing called a “camera.” She’s following me around the yard, calling my name, snapping her fingers, cooing, making kissy noises, anything to make me look at the lens. I mainly showed her my backside! (giggle giggle)

Sorry paparazzi, not this time. A girl needs her privacy. I don’t want my pictures splashed all over the place. Mommy got a few snaps of me but nothing that is cover girl material. She took some pictures of me chasing bugs and chewing on some blades of grass, but she doesn’t have a good camera for capturing action shots so they didn’t come out very clear. She did get a cute picture of me next to her Garden Fairy, so she might put that one on my page. I also chased the boys around the yard a few times but those pictures are just a blur – MOL!

Well, I need my beauty rest now, so I guess I’ll stretch out for my afternoon nap (yawn).

In case any of you were wondering if I am still dismantling our pet fountain and playing in it, the answer is YES! (giggle giggle).

The past three nights Mommy has found the ceramic dome on top of the fountain pushed to the side of the reservoir, the plastic piece covering the motor pulled off, and a little stream of water shooting straight up in the air like a geyser - MOL! I love to play in my fountain and splash water all over the floor - it's a lot of fun!

My brofur Sammy finally tagged me. I am the last kitty in my furmily to get tagged this week, and do you know why that is? Because I am the fastest runner and I can outrun my brofurs any day of the week! They chase me around and around the house but can almost never catch me!

1. Do you ever wake your parents up during the night?

- Um, yeah. I am quite good at it, in fact. 3 a.m. is my favorite time. I either start a buffalo stampede and get my brofurs to chase me around the house or I jump on top of the bedroom armoire and then climb on top of the valance of the vertical blinds and walk on it like a tightrope. When Mom sees me doing this, she jumps out of bed really quick! Silly Mom, I'm not going to fall!

2. Do you ever tear up things?

- I like to roll things off tables and countertops like pens, cell phones, and sunglasses - that's more my style. But I do like to scratch the carpet and the dining room chairs, so yeah, maybe I do tear things up sometimes.

3. What is your favorite treat?

- I love chicken and turkey. Mom cooks chicken breasts and puts it on top of my wet food sometimes - it is yummy!

4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?

- Fetching is for dogs, so no, I do not fetch.

5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?

- I came from a foster home before my Mommy found me and Sammy and brought us to where we live now. The rescue group told Mommy that me and Sammy were found in a dumpster and taken to the SPCA when we were four weeks old. Our rescue group took care of us until we found our furever home last December - we are furry lucky kitties!

I hope any fur reading this will consider themselves tagged and play along - it is so much fun to learn more about your friends!

Last Christmas our Mommy ordered us a fancy dancy ceramic pet fountain. It has a big ceramic dome on the top where the water is pumped up from the basin and then cascades back down into the reservoir. Up until recently, I paid little attention to it other than stopping by for an occasional refreshing drink of water.

Over the past week Mommy has noticed that some cat (giggle giggle) was making a big mess in the pet fountain. One day she even thought it had sprung a leak because there was so much water all over the kitchen floor. She cleaned it up and refilled it with fresh water but couldn't figure out how in the world so much water was getting all over the floor.

Last night Mommy heard a commotion in the kitchen. She thought she heard running water coming from somewhere so she came out to see what was going on. Some cat (giggle giggle) had managed to move the heavy ceramic dome that covers the top of the fountain. The plastic piece that covers the pump had been removed and there was a little stream of water shooting straight up in the air. There I was caught in the act of playing in the water! Mommy cleaned up the mess and refilled the fountain. Right after she put it back down on the floor, she saw me playing in the fountain again trying to put my paw under the dome to remove the plastic cover - I'm a very clever girl!

Mommy thinks that now that the hot weather is here, I've discovered how much fun it is to play in the water - it's like having my own private swimming pool!

We woke Mom out of a dead sleep this morning by racing through the house and knocking things off dressers and tables - MOL! The stampeding went on and on until Mom finally got out of bed - mission accomplished!

We read Newman's diary while Mom was waking up with her morning cup of coffee and he was having a contest to commemorate the one year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death - just guess the name of the MJ song on Newman's page - easy guess for me because I was "Bad." Mom thought that was purrty funny given my naughty behavior this morning. See Mom, my naughty antics pay off sometimes!

Mom's a big MJ fan and grew up listening to the Jackson 5 and Michael's music. He died before I was even born, but Mom has his DVD of his last rehearsals for the concerts he never got to perform last year because of his death called "This Is It." Mom and Dad can't watch that DVD without getting up and dancing around the living room - Mom says it is impossible to listen to MJ music without wanting to get up and dance - it is pretty hysterical to see Mommy dancing - MOL!

Rest in peace, MJ, my Mommy and all your fans sure do miss you!

Mom thinks Sammy and I have calmed down considerably now that we are almost 9 months old, but last night I had to remind her of what things used to be like so she’d appreciate it more when we are good. I can usually get my brofurs involved in my shenanigans which makes it all the more fun!

Let’s see, first I jumped up on the dining room table to see what interesting stuff I could knock off onto the floor. I found Daddy’s cell phone, Mama’s sunglasses, and a pen – all were on the carpet this morning when Mom woke up. Sometime after that I came into the bedroom and jumped up on top of the armoire. From there it’s an easy climb to the valance on top of the vertical blinds. I walked across it like a tightrope, but Daddy woke up and made me get down. I decided to get Sammy in on the action so I helped him topple over a waste basket in the bathroom and we shredded Kleenex and toilet paper together – that was a lot of fun. Sammy didn’t think that was enough though, so he found yesterday’s newspaper and shredded that into hundreds of tiny pieces across the living room.

We also had a fun time chasing each other around and wrestling so there were clumps of cat fur all over the carpet. Mommy was kind of upset because she had just cleaned the house yesterday – now she gets to vacuum again and clean up after us – tee hee! Did I mention we made her get up and feed us at 6 a.m. because we were famished after all that exercise?

That was purrty exhausting work last night, so I better go catch some zzz’s now.

Ma and Paw took us kitties camping this weekend – I really liked it! When I say “camping” it’s really going out in the moving house and spending the night somewhere. Some people call it a “motor home.” Some people call it “RV.” It’s kind of like our house, but smaller, and it moves. Mommy packs our toys, kitty furniture, and potty boxes so we kind of think of it like a home. Oh, and we get yummy food and treats, too. Mommy made us chicken breasts for dinner one night because we get kind of finicky and don’t want to eat much when we are traveling. Chicken is so yummy – I gobbled mine up.

We don’t really like it when the moving house is actually moving. It’s a little scary. It makes a lot of noise and moves around a lot. Us cats try and hide until it stops. But when the moving house is still and quiet, we really enjoy it. Mommy opens all the windows so we can sniff the breeze and hear the birdies. Tully and I saw a deer eating grass from the front window this morning while we were looking out – I never saw one before! It was so cool! Tully wanted to chase it – MOL!

What I like most about camping is that usually there is no TV or computer when we go – that is the BEST camping! We get Mommy’s undivided attention while she reads her books and takes pictures of us kitties in the windows because we are so relaxed and the scenery is so pretty. It’s very quiet and we all just sit and enjoy the peace and the scenery. She got some good pictures of me on this trip. I’m usually very hard to photograph because I’m fast and run around a lot and don’t sit still for very long – but this time Mommy was happy that I was more relaxed and sat still and she was able to take some nice pictures of me.

Thanks to all my friends who sent me yummy BBQ treats over the Memorial Day weekend – I enjoyed every bite!

It seems I have earned a new nickname in my house – “Naughty Natasha” is what Mom has been calling me this week. Now that my brother Sammy has started to calm down and not act so naughty all the time, I’ve decided to take over the honors.

This week I have awakened Mom and Dad almost every morning around 4 a.m. with my antics. One morning I decided to jump up on top of the bedroom armoire and from there jumped on top of the vertical blinds and walked on top of the valance like a tightrope. That got Mom out of bed REAL quick – MOL! I also jumped up on top of the dresser a few times and knocked a couple of picture frames off.

Just when Mom and Dad decide to go to sleep for the night, I get the other cats revved up by running through the house like a banshee. I knock things off the dining room table and bounce off the furniture. The other cats start chasing me and we have so much fun! Oh, and I have also learned how to unplug some of the lamps (hee hee). When Mom gets up and it’s still dark, she tries to turn the lamp on but it doesn’t work! Aren’t I talented?

I’m not sure why Mom thinks I’m naughty – girls just wanna have fun!

I like to watch TV, especially HD TV. I stand up on the television stand and stretch my little paws up on the gigantic screen. Last night Mom and Dad were watching highlights from the Masters Golf Tournament and I became very interested in what they were watching. I jumped up close to the TV and they saw my eyes following the rolling ball on the green and into the cup. I stretched my paw way up to catch the ball but I couldn’t quite reach it.

This HD TV thing is very cool – it looks SO real! The boy cats in this house show no interest in TV watching whatsoever – they don’t know what they are missing!

Last night all four of us cats decided to sleep on top of Mama, like a cat blanket. Luke slept on Mom’s left side and Tully slept across her neck. Sammy and I were lying on top of Mom’s legs keeping them warm. Let’s see, with a combined weight of about 36 pounds that’s a lot of heat and it kept Mom pretty toasty. In fact, it was too warm. She’s going to take the flannel sheets off the bed and put the cotton ones on because we cats generate so much heat.

She wants to know why Daddy didn’t have a cat blanket on his side of the bed…after all, there are enough of us to make an entire cat blanket across the whole bed. I guess we’ll have to work on that one.

I know the group is called “Man Cats at Work – No Girls Allowed,” and my brofurs are proud hard hat wearing members, but I thought it would be fun to crash the group and cause a little commotion. My friend Daisy and I both put on pink hard hats and joined the group. Oh, those boys went crazy – No Girls Allowed! One Man Cat even suggested that we could cook for the group – I don’t think so!

You see, Luke, Tully, and Sammy have been strutting around the house lately and acting like typical Man Cats. They hog all the wet food, monopolize the FlyToy, mess up the litter boxes, and generally act like silly little boy cats. I wanted to show them that I can play their game. I am girl cat, hear me roar!

Yolo, a very handsome Man Cat who is one of the administrators of the group, sent me a very nice, respectful pawmail requesting that I please remove myself from the group.

It’s okay. I am not offended, Man Cats. It was just a little joke. I just wanted you to see how cute I look in my pink hard hat.

I still think that Girl Cats Rule!

I don’t get boys. My brofurs Luke, Tully, and Sammy recently joined a Catster group called “Man Cats at Work – No Girls Allowed” and they’ve been strutting around the house all week in these silly yellow hard hats. I just don’t get it. Why would a Man Cat want to wear a hard hat and talk about a house they are building and what they are going to eat at a BBQ? Big deal! They brag about their “Man Cat” appetites and what they are going to eat at the BBQ –BORING!

Last night Daddy had the FlyToy out and played with all of us cats. Guess who jumped the highest and played the longest? Moi! Even Sammy the “Flying Tomato” couldn’t keep up with me! I overheard Daddy tell Mommy that “Natasha is the smart one” – MOL!

Watch out Man Cats, us Girl Cats Rule!

Some sweet kitty left an anonymous Valentine on my page. The only clue they left was “I hope you don’t think I’m too old.” Well, since I’m only 4 ½ months old, that could be almost anycat! I’m not even sure what Valentine’s Day is yet, but there seems to be a lot of smooching and loving involved from what I’ve seen so far.

Thank you Secret Valentine, whoever you are!

Tonight Daddy introduced me to the best cat toy I’ve ever met…Da Bird! I know most of you kitties have probably already met Da Bird, but he’s new to me and Sammy. Luke prefers his FlyToy and Tully likes catnip mice, but Mommy decided to pick up a couple of Da Birds anyway when she went to the pet store to buy our food today. Me and Sammy like almost any cat toy we meet, but this toy is extra special.

As soon as Da Bird flew through our living room I was hooked! I really lived up to my nickname “Bat Girl.” I flew through the air after Da Bird…I even caught Da Bird a few times. I became Da Bird! Daddy thinks I should enter the Catster Olympics. My jumping skills are superb! I am light as a feather so I jump even higher than the big boys, Luke and Tully.

Holy catnip, Batman, Da Bird is simply da best!

Thanks for tagging me Kibbles! I’ve never been tagged before, so this is going to be fun!

Cupid wants to know:

1. Do you have a Valentine? If so... who?

I’m only 4 months old – what’s a Valentine?

2. If not... do you wish you did? ... Is there anyone particular? ... Or would you rather be single? ...Why?

I think I’m too young to answer this question…right now I’m trying to manage with 3 bigger brofurs - I don’t think I could handle another boy in my life!

3. What's your favorite Love Song?... Who sings it?

"Power of Love" – by Luther Vandross

4. What would be a Perfect Valentine’s Day for you?

I’ve never celebrated Valentine’s Day before because I was just born last September, but I think it’s supposed to be a fun day, yes? If so, my idea of fun is to chase feather toys and anything on a string! Oh yeah, and I love wet food and treats, so I’d eat plenty of that, too!

If you are just reading this, and have not been tagged yet... and would like to play...consider yourself tagged by Cupid (Me)! ♥

Mom has wanted me to start a diary since all the other cats in this house have one, but I’m very shy. I don’t have a lot to say yet…but I can tell you about my silly brothers because I find them very entertaining.

I’m the little sister of Luke, Tully, and Sammy. I was adopted 3 weeks ago with my sibling Sammy. We were found in a dumpster when we were 4 weeks old, not exactly a happy beginning in my young life. But luck was on our side and someone found us and took us to the SPCA. A rescue group placed us in a foster home until our new Mama came and adopted us. She was originally looking to adopt only Sammy, but when she saw how small and adorable I was, she decided to adopt me too.

My nickname is Bat Girl because I have ginormous ears and I fly up and down the cat furniture and around the house like a little bat. I’m very quick, even quicker than these boys I live with. I’m small but feisty. You have to be when you live in a house with 3 bigger brothers. Even though Sammy is my littermate, he outweighs me by at least 1-2 pounds. He’s been eating like a little piggy since we got here, so I bet he’s close to 5 pounds by now. Since I only weigh 3 pounds, I have to stand up to these boys; I don’t want them pushing me around.

I think the biggest boy in this house, Luke, kinda likes me. I hissed at him when I first got here and he hissed back at me. He had to show me and Sammy who is boss in this house. But over the past few weeks he has started to like me. Mom has caught him grooming me a few times. He licks me on the head and watches out for me. He’s my protective big brother.

Tully’s okay too. Sometimes he’ll let me chase him around and bite his tail. When he’s had enough of me, he hides somewhere where I can’t find him. Yesterday when he was napping on the cat perch, I snuggled up next to him. He didn’t seem to mind!

Sammy is my best friend and soul mate. He is much more outgoing than I am and has a lot more confidence. But we are the best of friends; I would be lost without him. We curl up and nap together. We chase each other around the house. Sammy is my favorite brother right now, but the other two aren’t so bad.

Having big brothers right now is nice…but we’ll see what happens in the next year!

Love, Natasha
