<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Tully and I were chilling in the backyard on Saturday while Mom watered some potted plants. It was a beautiful day; the skies were blue, and the weather warm.

Mom spotted a little skunk in our backyard digging in back of the shed. She didn’t spray him directly with the hose, but tried to spray near him so she could steer him towards the gate and out towards the front yard. Well, it worked out as planned but she didn’t realize that he would suddenly make a run directly towards me and Tully who were sitting on the lawn. He came within inches of us but then ran quickly to the gate and out towards the front yard. All of a sudden Mom smelled that telltale sign of a skunk, and unfortunately he skunked me on his way out!

Pee yew! Mom has been using waterless shampoo on me every day to get rid of the smell. She went to the Pet Store and found some special shampoo she could have used for de-skunking, but the directions said it had to be left on for at least 5 minutes and then a regular shampoo applied, so she knew that wouldn’t work. I hate baths and get really upset if my fur is soaked with water, so she tried the waterless shampoo instead. It does seem to be working and the smell is almost gone.

Beware of skunks – they stink!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Last Sunday my sisfur Natasha and I celebrated our third birthday. Let me tell ya, it was a very exciting day! We got some special chicken treats in the morning with our breakfast and got to spend a little time outside in the backyard with Mom while she raked the leaves. Afterwards Mom decided to run some errands and grocery shop while Dad took his motorcycle out for a ride.

When Mom came home and was unloading bags from the car, she saw an orange cat that looked a lot like me sitting on our next door neighbor’s driveway. We know for a fact that those neighbors don’t own a cat, and we’re not even sure they like cats, so Mom got suspicious and walked over to get a closer look. That’s when I took off and ran and she could identify fur sure that it was me - MOL. The tip of my tail is almost all white, so when she saw me run off she was pretty certain that it was me. She chased me around the front yard for a couple of minutes until she finally herded me over towards our front porch. Once she got me on the porch, she opened the front door and chased me inside – I love being chased, it’s so much fun! It’s good for Mommy, too, she needs the exercise, hehehe!

Mom thinks that when Dad got his motorcycle out of the garage earlier that morning I must have snuck out under the garage door. Dad is usually pretty careful when he opens the garage and makes sure that we don’t get out accidentally, but this time I was too sneaky and he didn’t see me escape. The best part is that I didn’t even get in any trouble with Mom – but Dad did. It was his fault for opening the door and letting me out and Mom let him know this when he got home – hehehe.

It was the best birthday ever. Natasha and I appurrciate all the birthday wishes, gifts, and birthday pictures – thank you everybuddy!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ It’s been such a long time since I pawed anything in my diary. I have to get on Mom to be timelier with my diary entries, sheesh. Summer is almost half over, if you can believe it.

We’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors in our backyard. Mom has it cat-proofed so we can’t escape. At least us boys can’t escape. Natasha is still able to climb up the bushes and hop over the fence, so she is not allowed to go outside anymore. Mom made her a nice sunny spot in one of the front windows, so she has been hanging out there a lot. We're kind of sad that Natasha can’t play outside with us, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Mom tried to harness train her so she could still go outside, but Natasha will have nothing to do with it. She runs away whenever she sees the harness. She seems to enjoy her quiet time in front of the window and she can still watch birds and squirrels in our front yard.

Tully and I have become very good pals. Mom says we are both such mellow, laid back kitty dudes that we get along with almost everyone. We like to hang out together on the patio or lawn and watch Mom tend to her garden. She planted catnip, cat grass, and catmint this summer so we are enjoying having a little fresh nip and cat grass to chew on. The rest of the time we watch birds and squirrels up in the big oak tree and enjoy these long lazy summer days.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hot dog, I just found out that <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/283038"><B> Samoa</U></I></B></A> named me as Dreamboat in Training #37! Thank you Samoa; I am truly honored to be in the company of all your other distinguished Dreamboats, Dreamboats in Training, and Angel Dreamboats. I was glad to see you chose my Cat in the Clover photo for one of your featured pics of me in your diary, that one is a purrsonal favorite of mine. And yes, I still love to shred paper!

In honor of Super Bowl Sunday, I decided to huddle with Luke, Tully, and Natasha this morning and run some patterns and plays in Mommy and Daddy’s bedroom in the wee hours of the morning. While it was still dark in the house, Mommy heard one of us zooming up and down the hallway, back and forth, back and forth. Yep, it was me. Soon after, Natasha, Tully, and Luke were all chasing me down the field and it sounded like a herd of elephants was running through the house. We took over the ball at the 20-yard line and I took the snap, passing to Natasha. She made a leap grab and went for the touchdown – SCORE!

Mom was not amused. She finally got out of bed and fixed us our breakfast. I can’t wait to watch the Super Bowl!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Last night we watched one of our fave shows on Animal Planet called “My Cat from Hell.” We love the host Jackson Galaxy and think it is so cool that a big guy with earrings and tattoos is so into cats. He worked for years at animal shelters and saw a lot of cats get euthanized because they were anti-social and “un-adoptable.” He really understands us felines and knows what we need.

If you’ve never seen the show, Jackson goes into people’s homes every week and gives them advice on how to manage bad cat behavior. Mean and snarly cats end up acting like love bugs once Jackson gets done retraining the cat’s family members. The cats are not really bad; they are just misunderstood by their humans.

Here are a few of Jackson’s basic rules of having a happy cat:

•	Play with your cat often. Jackson reminds us that cats need to release energy through play. Aggressive behaviors are often a result of a kitty not being able to express their wild side which can cause stress. Stress can cause bad behavior.

•	Cats need to scratch. We are always surprised when Jackson goes into a home and the people are upset that kitty scratches up all the furniture. Then we see that there are no cat scratchers or kitty furniture or anything for the cat to scratch on. HELLO! Kitties need their own scratch surfaces, otherwise they will go for the human furniture.

•	The feline-human bond is very similar to the human-human bond. That relationship is based on love, respect, and compromise. Guess what? Since cats don’t understand compromise, it will need to come from the human. Thank you, Jackson, for pointing this out!

<a id="img8485794106" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert(\'Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.\');" href="http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224/kthautala/DSC_1234.jpg" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img8485794106');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224', '/kthautala/DSC_1234.jpg', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">My idol Jackson Galaxy</a>

Happy Sunday and remind your human to spend lots of time playing with you!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Last weekend our Mom was looking through some of the newsletters she gets in the mail from the local Humane Society and rescue groups she donates money to. It reminded her of how fortunate all of us are who have found our forever homes. We eat healthy food, have a warm place to sleep, have lots of toys to play with, and families who love us very much. There are so many sweet and beautiful kitties out there still waiting for homes and we know we are very lucky to have found ours.

Mom saw me first when she was looking for a third kitty to adopt, and was originally going to adopt only me, but when she saw how protective I was of my little sisfur, Natasha, she didn’t see how she could possibly split us up. Natasha and I used to comfort and cuddle with each other, Mom thought it was so sweet. We sure are lucky kitties and we know it.

Thank you everyfur who helped us celebrate our Gotcha Day today. All the sweet comments, pawmails, gifts, and mementos are very much appreciated. We have the best pals in the world.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hey kitties, is everyfur having fun getting ready for the holidays? I’ve been working on my list for Sandy Paws, but this morning Mommy informed us that Santa may not be coming to our house this year?!!!

You see one of us has been very naughty lately, especially this week. Mommy said to one of us this morning “_______, if you don’t change your naughty ways, there will be no treats or presents for you this Christmas!"

Who is she talking about? Surely, it’s not me? One of us is “The Master of Naughty” (#1), one of us is moderately naughty (#2), one of us is somewhat/a little bit naughty (#3), and one of us is hardly ever naughty/almost always nice (#4).

Do you kitties know who she is talking about? We’ll award a Christmas rosette to the first kitty who correctly rank orders our “naughtiness” using the #1-4 scale mentioned above.

Another rosette will be awarded to the kitty who can guess the top 3 reasons that “The Master of Naughty” earned his/her title.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ First, I want to meow my thanks from the bottom of my heart for all the birthday wishes and gifts our sweet furiends sent to me and Natasha. We are officially 2 years old now.

Mom has been hesitant to post anything in my diary about my health status and those yucky bladder crystals that have been bothering me. The first time she thought that I was getting better I had a relapse and had to go back to the vet for more fluids and shots. I didn’t start on prescription food right away, and that is what I needed to get these nasty things out of me. I’m drinking a lot more water because of the food and that is helping me get better. Thanks to everyfur who gave advice and shared their experiences with FLUTD with us, that helped us more than you’ll ever know.

I’m hoping that my worry wart Mom will stop spying on me while I’m in the litterbox. She watches me all the time and that makes me nervous, so now she’s trying to be sneaky about it. She thinks I can’t see her, but I know she’s there watching me. Can’t a kitty get a little privacy? Sheesh.

Mom and I appreciate all the purrs and support from our furiends, we don’t know what we’d do without you.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hello friends. Since Sammy is not feeling well again, and I mentioned to a few people that I was taking him back to the vet yesterday, I thought I’d do an update here.

A week ago today I came home and found little puddles of blood tinged urine in various locations around the house. I found Sammy squatting and straining to pee in various places outside the litterbox, so I knew something was wrong. I took him to urgent care that evening since I could not get an appointment. The vet who saw Sammy was concerned that he had a fever and signs of infection, so that is what he was treated for.

After receiving fluids, pain medicine, and 5 days of antibiotics he appeared to be doing a lot better. Although he was using the litterbox, and did not appear to be in any distress, I was concerned that he was not urinating normally. He was going more often and only producing small amounts. In the back of my mind I knew that there had to be an underlying cause for his bacterial infection, but I was really hoping that the antibiotics would “cure” him.

Saturday he seemed a bit off to me, but since he had been running away and hiding from me when it was time for his medicine, I thought he was just stressed out about that. Sunday morning I noticed blood tinged urine in one of the cat beds again, so I knew Sammy was not “cured.” I was able to get an appointment in the late afternoon so I took him back in. The vet who we had the appointment with (not our regular vet) was called away to an emergency for a critically ill snake, so he and the ER/ICU vet, a young woman, ended up switching patients.

It was kind of funny because the ER vet told us when she walked in that she “didn’t really like snakes” and was happy to see a feline patient – LOL. She reviewed Sammy’s history then took us to a room with ultrasound so she could aspirate urine directly from his bladder. She came back a little while later and gave me the bad news I was already expecting – struvite crystals – ugh. I already knew a little bit about it from what I have read in the pet health forums and heard from friends with cats who have FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease).

He received more fluids, a pain shot, an injection of an anti-inflammatory drug, Cerenia, and some pills to take at home. A funny thing happened as we were leaving, after I paid the bill and was walking back to the car with Sammy in his carrier. The vet tech ran after us saying “Wait, I gave you the wrong medication.” I didn’t look at it closely, but I handed it back to her. She came back outside with the same medicine a few minutes later and handed it back to me. She said she had checked with the vet because the box was labeled “for canine use only.” The vet had explained to me that she was prescribing a medication that is labeled for canine nausea and vomiting, but has been used off label for cats and has shown some benefits for pain and bladder inflammation. I went home and looked it up just to make sure. Since I work in healthcare, I know that medical errors happen every day and I wanted to make sure it was a safe drug to give to Sammy.

I ended up buying some prescription wet food at the vet’s insistence which I know is very controversial and I have some reservations about it. I asked her if I could feed my own store bought wet foods and eliminate all dry food since I have 4 cats and didn’t really want to go the prescription food route. She believes that Sammy needs the prescription food to dissolve and get rid of the crystals so I will follow her advice for now, but I hope to transition back to regular wet food at some point. I’m not thrilled with the ingredients of the prescription food, but so far Sammy has been eating it, so I’m hoping that once his crystals have dissolved I can transition him to something healthier. My ultra picky cats who snub their noses at Wellness, EVO, and some of the better quality brands seem to like the prescription food so far. It’s supposed to increase thirst so they drink more water, but hopefully we won’t have to use it for very long.

Sorry for the long post, but I think writing all of this out makes me feel better. I don’t like seeing any of my cats sick, but what makes this especially distressing for me is that Sammy is so young, barely 2 years old. He is a very sensitive little guy and I do think that stress played a role in him getting sick in addition to his diet. I love all of my cats dearly, but Luke unfortunately can be a bully sometimes. Most of the time he is a real sweetheart, but he has a very dominant personality, loves to be the center of attention, and has a tendency to pick on the other cats. I ordered a calming collar for Luke this weekend, so paws crossed that it mellows him out and he doesn’t pick on Sammy. I might get one for Sammy too to reduce his stress.

I know a lot of people on Catster have dealt with FLUTD and problems with struvite crystals in their cats, so it’s been really helpful to read about how others have dealt with this problem. Thank you so much for all the purrs for Sammy, it's helped me get through a very rough week.

Love, Sammy and Mom Kelly]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom and I want to thank everyfur for the sweet and supportive comments, pawmails, and rosettes for my recent illness. We are so fortunate to have such pawsome furiends here in Catsterland who love and support one another.

Mom was so upset when she found out I was sick on Monday night. She loves us like we are her children and it upsets her very much to see any of us sick or in pain. Her friends and co-workers are sympathetic, but only pet pawrents seem to truly understand how stressful it is to have a sick pet. It feels good to have a place like Catster where we can share our concerns and worries with people who understand and have been there themselves.

I’m on day #5 of my antibiotics and I feel a whole lot better. I’m using the litterbox and not leaving little pee puddles around the house anymore. I put up a good fight this morning when Mom put the little syringe with medicine in my mouth - she sees that as a good sign that I’m getting well.

I also wanted to say thanks to the diary gal for my DDP today, but I especially want to thank all of my furiends for their pawsome support. You guys rock!

She didn’t know what to make of it at first when she wiped it up, but later noticed the same thing on one of the bathroom floors. Then she saw a small drop of blood in one of our kitty beds. Her Mommy radar went up immediately, and she starting following each of us around the house to see how we were acting. She saw me squatting and straining to pee in different spots around the house so she knew immediately something was wrong with me.

She called our vet’s office right away - they have evening appointments, but none were available that night, so she was advised to go to their E.R. After sitting in a crowded waiting room with barking dogs and meowing kitties for over an hour, I was finally called in. I had a thermometer stuck up my bum and it was discovered I had a fever of 104. The vet lady took some of my urine and came back a little while later to tell us that I had red and white blood cells in my pee and I needed to get fluids and antibiotics right away.

I was a very good boy and didn’t put up much fuss when I got my fluids and received my shot. Mom saw that as a sign of me being very sick because normally I’m a wriggle worm. I got a pain shot, too, and that seemed to help. Mom was so thankful that I did not have to spend the night at the vet’s; she would not have slept at all if the vet had insisted on keeping me overnight. So I’m on antibiotics now for a week – yuck! I can now anticipate when my next dose is so I’ve started to hide from Mom - she’s not too happy about that.

I think I’m starting to get better, I pee in the litter box now, but this whole ordeal has really stressed out my Mom. Luke, Tully, and Natasha can also feel her stress so Luke’s been acting like a pain in the you-know-what. He gets very insecure sometimes when he’s not the center of attention and will act like a bully and pick on me. That stresses Mom out even more.

Mom just wants me to get well. I’m supposed to set sail in a few days on Captain Dread Zaxery Drake’s pirate ship and I’m also turning 2 years old next week so I need to get well for my birthday.

My good furiend <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/1032058"><B> Max</U></I></B></A> has also been sick, so if you could spare a few healing purrs for me and for Max, and for all the other sick kitties out there, I am sure that will help us a lot.

Love,
Sammy]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom has been shopping on the Internet again. She seems to be looking for something specific for us cats. Most of the time it’s a good thing when she shops for us. Sometimes she buys us new cat furniture, new toys, or yummy treats.

I got an uneasy feeling about this shopping trip. I heard her say “this would look adorable on Sammy” – ruh roh! The only thing I look adorable in is my birthday suit! What in the meow has Mom gone and bought this time? I guess I’ll find out in a few days…

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Oh boy, a yummy smelling package arrived in the mail this week from Happy River Dances Catnip Company. That can only mean one thing…pawsome catnip toys! Hooray! Our pal <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/1051661"><B> River</U></I></B></A> is the CEO of his own company!

These toys are extra special because they are patriotic. Red, white, and blue, stars, and stripes! Check these out:

<a id="img6017510247" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert('Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.');" href="http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224/kthautala/July%202011%20Kitty%20Pics/DSC_0061-1.jpg" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img6017510247');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224', '/kthautala/July%202011%20Kitty%20Pics/DS', 'C_0061-1.jpg', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">Patriotic Catnip Toys</a>

We saw these patriotic mousies at River’s Etsy Store and loved them! We wanted to order a patriotic bunny foot kicker to go with our mousies. River didn’t have one for sale, but when we pawmailed him and made a special request, his Mommy found this pawsome flag material:

<a id="img0523287787" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert('Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.');" href="http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224/kthautala/July%202011%20Kitty%20Pics/DSC_0080.jpg" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img0523287787');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224', '/kthautala/July%202011%20Kitty%20Pics/DS', 'C_0080.jpg', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">Flag Bunny Foot Kicker</a>

I really love my new toys. This bunny foot kicker is the greatest! And so nice of River to make it especially for me!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mommy has been feeling really pawful this weekend. She came home Thursday night from a business trip with a sore throat and woke up Friday morning with a terrible cold. She’s been coughing, sneezing, and sniffling all weekend and said she must have caught a “bad bug” from someone she sat next to during her meetings. I didn’t think bugs were supposed to be bad, I kind of like them. I like to chase ‘em and eat ‘em sometimes in the garden.

Saturday morning she still felt yucky, but she played with us a little and spent some time on the catputer. By early afternoon she had chills so bad she was shivering, so she went and climbed into bed. One by one each of us kitties went and lay down on the bed with Mom. Luke was first. He curled up next to her legs. Then Tully came in and lay across her neck and chest. He’s so fluffy; Mom says he’s just like an angora blanket. Then I came in to find my spot and ending up settling next to Mom near her neck and pillow. Mom could feel all this heat radiating from the three of us. She says it felt very warm and healing. Within no time, her chills were gone and we all settled in for a cozy nap.

Next time your pawrent isn’t feeling well, you should try a healing blanket. Mom swears it works even better than chicken noodle soup!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ This week started off with an eggciting trip to New Zealand with the Kewlest Catster Kitties Group. We hunted for eggs all over New Zealand – what a beautiful country! We had a lot of fun searching for eggs with our KCK furiends.

Then we hid Easter eggs all week long in Catstertown – how eggquisite! Kitties have been hunting for all the eggs and having eggcitable fun!

A couple of days ago I was a diary pick – how eggstravagant! Thank you to all the sweet kitties who sent me pawmails, left me comments, and sent me rosies. I am truly blessed to have some of the best furiends around.

Inquiring kitties want to know if I am still scratching the glass window next to Mommy’s side of the bed every morning to wake her up... well, what do you think?

MOL, MOL! Happy Easter!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I have discovered a fun new way to wake my Mommy up in the morning. For some unknown reason I’ve been jumping up on the cat perch next to Mom’s side of the bed every morning around 4 a.m. I stretch my front paws as high up on the window as I can reach, and then I scratch, scratch, scratch vigorously against the glass. It makes a terrible sound and wakes Mom up instantly – MOL! She chases me away when I do it, but I usually come back a few minutes later and scratch-scratch-scratch again.

She says she is getting really tired of it and may have to move the cat perch away from the window if I continue doing this. I told Mom that I have Cat Scratch Fever – teehee! They don't call me The Red Rocker for nothing!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Most of the time we are very good kitties. We sleep most nights although we do wake Mom up early and expect to be fed our breakfast between 5-6 a.m. That part is okay, Mom expects it and she’s gotten used to it. We even have occasional night zoomies, but Mom is okay with that, too. She has gotten used to it.

But every now and then we get the all-out night crazies and we tear the house apart. Last night was one of those nights. Mom could hear us running around, jumping on the dining room table, knocking things off her dresser, and being very active - all night long. She woke up several times because of the noise we were making, but she would fall back asleep again because she knew she’d have to wake up in a few hours to go to work.

Mom finally got up to feed us and make her coffee at around 5:30 a.m. Boy, did we have a surprise waiting for her! Somecat, I’m not saying who, had gotten a hold of some dinner napkins and shredded them all over the dining room floor. Kleenex was shredded all over the bathroom floor. Catnip toys were strewn all over the living room. No room was spared. We really went to town! Mom could not believe that four little felines could cause such a big mess.

The really surprising part was when Mom found a previously unopened bag of “Sun Chips” on the kitchen floor that somecat had chewed open. Those packages are foil and Mom has never seen any of us tear through foil before. She wondered if a mouse or other animal could have gotten in the house and done it, but the bite marks seemed too big to have come from a mouse. It did not appear that any of the chips or the package had been eaten, just torn open. You can bet Mom is going to be checking the poopie box for the next couple of days for evidence.

Anyhow, none of us are ‘fessing up to anything. Mom has strong suspicions of who did the paper shredding, but everything else is just circumstantial at this point. Innocent until proven guilty, right? Tee hee!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom has a torture tool called The Furminator. I hate that darn thing. She bought it a couple of years ago for Luke and Tully and they never liked it either. Tully tries to bite it if Mom touches him with it. She later switched to the Zoom Groom which is a gentler and more tolerable grooming tool for us, but she still has that dang Furminator that she takes out every now and then.

She discovered that it works really well at removing dingleberries, especially those pesky little ones that are squished into the fur and hard to remove. Mom saw me scooting my butt against the carpet this morning which is the telltale sign of a dingleberry. She ran for that awful Furminator and used it on my fluffy pants. I was pawsitively mortified.

There ought to be a law against those things!

I was very happy to see Catster chose my diary entry about the prezzie I brought my Mom last week. It isn’t every day that you find a lizard in your house, and I wanted to impress Mom with my hunting skills.

Speaking of lizards, wouldn’t it be cool if Catster offered a lizard rosette in the gift shop? Or a birdie rosette? I’m hoping they come up with some exciting new ones soon; it sure would be fun to give lizards and birdies as prezzies to everyfur!

I hope everycat had a great day!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I brought Mom a belated Valentine prezzie this morning…a lizard!

As she stumbled out to the kitchen to make her morning cup of coffee, she noticed Luke and me playing with something on the dining room carpet. She leaned in a little closer and saw that we were pawing at something on the floor. Good thing she turned the lights on before she walked in, or she might have stepped right on him! The little guy was already dead, so Mom picked him up with a paper towel and took him outside to the trash can.

She was kind of surprised because she didn’t even know we had lizards around our house. She thinks that maybe the wet weather brought him inside the garage last night where we must have caught him. I love giving my Mama prezzies!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Since I’m the only cat in my family that has not been tagged yet, I thought I’d join in and play. I had a really hard time coming up with 5 things that annoy me about humans, because I’m a very easy-going little orangie guy (says my Mom) and it doesn’t seem that much bothers me. I usually “go-with-the-flow” as the humans like to say.

I did manage to come up with a few things that annoy me about humans:

1.	Riding in the car or in the motor home. I usually throw a fit when I have to ride in a moving vehicle. Fortunately I have a sixth sense about these things, and I usually run and hide when I suspect that I might be going for a ride.

2.	Overzealous hugs and kisses from my Mom. These are not gentle kisses, mind you. She gets really carried away at times and practically attacks me with her lovey dovey hugs and kisses. Chill, Mom!

3.	Getting my pantaloons cleaned. Every now and then I get something stuck in my fluffy pants, and here comes Mom to clean it off. I can clean myself, thank you very much.

4.	Being told that I cannot shred or eat paper. Mom is constantly removing paper from the house or putting it in places where I cannot get to it. I LOVE to shred paper and scatter it all over the house. Sometimes I even take a couple of bites and swallow because certain types of paper are very tasty. Paper napkins are a favorite of mine.

5.	Halloween costumes. Luke and Tully told me to put this on my list because it really annoys them, and I don’t care for it either. Mom tried to put Tully’s pumpkin costume on me last Halloween, but I would have no part of it. I ran away and shook that dumb pumpkin thing off my head.

Hey, that was fun! If you haven’t been tagged yet, give it a try. I guess some things do annoy me after all.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ This chilly winter weather is making all of us kitties want to snuggle up as close as we can to Mom at night when she goes to bed. The trouble is those "Bed Hogs" (aka Luke and Tully) always wriggle in so close to Mom and stretch their big fluffy bodies out across the entire bed so there’s hardly any room left for little ol’ me – sheesh! I’m usually left with a little sliver of space at the foot of the bed which is not acceptable.

Drastic times call for drastic measures, so for the past couple of nights I’ve been going into the bedroom and getting on the bed BEFORE Mommy gets into it. That way, as soon as she settles down and gets comfortable in the bed, I claim my spot right next to her. When Luke and Tully come in a little while later, they get the leftover space –MOL! Tully was a little miffed at me last night because he likes to sleep where I was sleeping and had to resort to sleeping on top of Daddy – teeheehee.

Pretty good strategy, huh?

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I was really hoping to tell everyfur that the furry mouse toy I ate yesterday was spotted in my poopie today, but no such luck. With four kitties and four litter boxes Mom thinks it may be a bit of a challenge to find my exact poopie. When she scooped the boxes today there was plenty of poop, enough that she thinks I might have gone, but no telltale signs of a furry mouse. Thanks for all the purrs. I’m eating and acting like my normal self so Mom is hopeful that the toy mouse caused no serious problems to my insides.

Thanks to all our pals who stopped by today to wish me and Natasha a happy first Gotcha Day. We really enjoyed reading all the sweet and funny comments and messages and feel so fortunate to have so many pawsome furiends here on Catster. Mom can’t believe it’s already been one year since she adopted me and Natasha. It seems like only yesterday we were 3 month old kittens causing mayhem in our new home. Mom originally wanted to adopt an older cat, but when she saw my kitten photo on Petfinder, she couldn’t resist my orangie charms. When she came to our foster home to meet me, I made it clear to her that I had to be adopted with Natasha.

We were inseparable at the time and Mom would have felt terrible splitting us up. It turned out to be a good thing that we were adopted as a pair because I think I would have driven Luke and Tully crazy if I hadn’t had another kitten to run around and chase. I had so much energy and really turned our household upside down for a few months when I was chewing electrical wires, shredding paper, and causing quite a bit of destruction in the house. I guess I ate the toy mousie yesterday to remind Mom that she still needs to watch me closely.

To the dear kitty furiends and their Mommy who sent us the toy mousie that I ate, my Mom feels really bad that you would feel responsible in any way for what happened. It was an accident and we would never blame anyone for this. If anything, our Mom feels responsible that she didn’t take the toy away when I started licking it a lot. It was such a great toy and Mom enjoyed seeing us have so much fun with it.

Since it’s Catmas season, and many of us will be getting new kitty toys, this is a good lesson for all of us. Please be careful furiends and stay safe!

Luke and I both played with the little mousie yesterday and I licked it until it was soaked with Sammy saliva. Mom saw it this morning on the floor and noticed that it was soaking wet. She removed the eyes because she was worried I might swallow them. Next thing she knew, I ate the whole mouse! Well, maybe not the whole mousie, just the fur. I left the plastic innards on the floor. Mom has bought us toy mousies before but this one was especially tasty.

Luke ate a toy mousie once and he was fine. Mom is a little worried about me but so far I am eating and acting purrfectly normal. Mom will feel better when she sees me poop, then she will know that the mousie is not stuck inside me. I think I am going to be okay, but will say a little purr for me just in case?

Thank you for your purrs, Sammy]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Well, my “poor pitiful me” look may not have worked on my Mom, but it seems to have worked on the Diary Gal – thanks for featuring me as a diary pick today – woot woot! Concats to my orangie pal <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/1088657"><B> Pumpkin</U></I></B></A> who is also a diary pick today – double woot woot!

Thanks to all the furiends who stopped by my page and left me nice comments, gifts, and pawmails – I love my pals! Headbonks and purrs to another handsome orangie pal of mine <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/1032799"><B> Milo</U></I></B></A> and his family who are always there with special occasion mementos – their Mommy is so nice to take the time to make these special mementos for us.

I also wanted to meow my thanks to all my great Kewlest Catster Kitty (KCK) furiends – you know who you are! They are just the nicest bunch of kitties you could ever meet and they are always there to help us celebrate special occasions and have fun – thanks guys! I think they are the official “pawty animals” of Catster – MOL!

I’m furry happy to say that the sun is back today. We had a lot more rain yesterday and last night, but it stopped this morning and the sun even came out for awhile this afternoon – purrfect for an afternoon nap in a sun puddle.

We are looking forward to a visit from Santy Paws next week – hope all my furiends are having fun getting ready for the holidays! Thanks again for all the DDP wishes!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I did my very best to give Mommy my sad face when she left for work this morning. Tully taught me how to do this. He has this way of lying on top of the cat perch and hanging his head over the side while he stares down at the floor. It’s a pitiful look, and very effective at getting Mom to come over and give him scritches and belly rubs.

Mom doesn’t think he really is sad, but he sure looks like he is. So I did the same thing this morning while lying on top of the cat perch which looks out the front window. My head was hanging over the side staring at the floor. Mommy asked me if I was sad.

Yes, Mom, I am sad. I’m sad because it rained all night and all morning. And it rained most of yesterday, too. When it rains, it means there’s slim to no chance of us going outside for a little romp in the backyard (big sigh). Not that we would anyway during a weekday morning, but a kitty can always hope. Then there’s the fact that it’s Monday. Monday is the start of another work week (big sigh). That means we see less of Mom and Dad, which means less playtime and cuddles for us (big sigh).

Rainy days and Mondays always get me a little down (sounds like a song title, hee hee).

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Since my last diary entry was not very complimentary towards HQ about all the comment activity on the Purr Board and how much it was slowing us down in locating new diary entries and photos from our furriends, I now feel obliged to thank Ted and HQ for taking it out.

Yes, it was an improvement from the first time it was introduced, and yes the comments were at least linking up to the correct pages, but I guess enough cats complained/gave feedback that they still didn’t like it, so HQ turned it off. You’ve got to admit that HQ listened to us, and they responded.

You know, it’s really easy to complain about things, and not enough pawple say thank you or show their appreciation when they really should. So Ted and HQ, I’d like to meow my thanks to you!

Oh yeah, and when you commented on a diary, that diary entry would end up on your page making it look like you wrote it, causing mass confusion?

Yes, it’s happening again my furriends. I thought enough kitties meowed their discontent to HQ about this feature so that we would never see it again. It's baaaaaack...

I hope we can still find our furriends' recent diary entries...

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Lately there’s been a bit of disharmony in our house. My big brofur, Luke, has been a big grumpy monster this week and has been hissing at me. Mom’s not sure if her being gone last week may have upset him. He may be a big boy, but he’s kind of a baby. He likes constant attention and reassurance from Mom and Dad. Don’t tell him I told you, he’d hiss at me for telling you this – MOL!

Luke and I are both alpha kitties by nature, but Luke has always tried to assert the upper paw in our house. I’m an easy going mellow kind of guy, so I usually back down and let him maintain his Top Cat status. Besides he’s bigger and older than me and could kick my floofy orangie bottom if it really came down to it. But some day I may outweigh him. Mom’s kind of worried about that. It’s very distressing to her, she just wants all of us to get along. She gets upset when she sees or hears Luke picking on me. He’s not violent or anything like that, he just hisses or makes threatening sounds towards me if I get a little too close to him.

Daddy calls it Cat Politics. He says we will work out the balance of power amongst ourselves and Mom shouldn’t worry about it. Mom’s not so sure about that – has any fur got any advice for us?

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I know this is Sammy’s diary, but I felt I had to write something tonight. Sammy is home with his Dad and fur siblings right now while Mom is traveling this week for work. I have limited internet access, but I’m able to receive messages on my Blackberry. When I received an e-mail from Catster this morning that my sweet Sammy was Cat of the Day, I was ecstatic, but a little sad, too.

I was happy because I really love Catster and have made so many nice friends here - a few I’ve been fortunate enough to meet in person. We have so much fun and have received so much love and support from so many kitties and their humans on this site that it has become almost a daily habit to check in and see what’s going on with our pals.

Many of our kitty friends are like family members to us, and we truly get excited for them when they celebrate a birthday, receive a Catster honor, or have something good happen in their lives. We also cry with them when a kitty is sick or has gone to the Bridge. We know they would be there for us, too, if we needed their support.

I’m sad because I’m not home with my fur kids right now. I miss them so much! Yesterday it was Luke and Tully’s Gotcha Day and the looks on their sweet faces when I walked out the front door with my suitcase was enough to make me cry. I could not explain this to my work colleagues but I know my Catster friends understand this completely. Catster is the only place where I can act silly, have fun, and freely express the love I feel for my fur kids because you all understand that feeling as well as I do.

Thank you for all the nice comments, pawmails, and gifts for Sammy. I am missing my little orangie boy so much right now, not to mention Luke, Tully, and Natasha. Thank you again for your kindness – I am really missing my Catster time this week. Hope to catch up with you all at the end of the week.

Love and hugs, Sammy’s Mom]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I knew something was up today when Mommy woke up this morning and gave me extra loves and kisses. She kissed me on my head, kissed me on my tummy, and she wouldn’t stop until I finally had to squirm away from her and meow “enough already”! She can really get carried away with the smooches if you let her – sheesh!

I had to wait all day for Mommy to come home from work and log in to Catster…and wowza meowza, my page and Natasha’s were overflowing with birthday wishes, presents, and special treats! Did I ever tell you that we have the best friends ever on Catster? You all are so sweet and kind-hearted and we love each and every one of you! Thank you everyfur for all the love and good wishes - I pawmise to send a personal thank you later to all my pals who stopped by.

So I am one year old today, that’s what it says on my adoption certificate anyway. Does that mean I am a Man Cat now? I hope being a Man Cat means I can still run around the house in the middle of the night, jump on top of the tables, shred paper when I feel like it , and play like a silly little kitten. I don’t ever want to grow up!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I’ve been a furry busy kitty this weekend helping Mom with her chores. Yesterday Mom changed the sheets on her bed - I just love to help her with that!

As soon as she starts stripping the old sheets off, I jump up on top of the bed and try to hide underneath the sheets. Every time the sheets move, I attack them! This goes on for several minutes and sometimes Mom gets impatient and picks me up and puts me on the floor, but I always jump right back up again to save Mom from the Monster inside the sheets.

When she finally does remove the old sheets off the bed, she then takes out the clean set of folded sheets. I love this part! She shakes the sheets out to unfold them and tries to lay them flat on the bed. I hide underneath the fitted sheet so there is a big lump of Sammy underneath the sheet, making it impossible for Mom to put it over the mattress. Mom had the nerve yesterday to put me outside the bedroom and close the door on me so she could finish making the bed – humph! I scratched and scratched on the door until she let me back inside. Boy was I mad!

Why doesn’t Mom appurrciate it more when I try to help her with her chores?

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Oh boy, did I have some fun last night! Normally we are indoor kitties and we only go outside if we are on a leash or in our stroller. But now that there are four of us, it’s been harder for Mom to take all of us outside at the same time. We usually have to take turns, 2 cats at a time.

Last night the weather was really nice and Mom and Dad were both home to supervise us, so they let all four of us out in the backyard at the same time. We’ve done this before and usually we behave ourselves, but not this time.

It all started to go downhill when Tully decided to jump over our side of the fence into the neighbors’ backyard. Well, he jumped back over to our side on his own before Mom could even catch him, but she decided we all needed to go back inside the house after that happened. Well, I decided I wasn’t ready to go back inside just yet. I love being in my backyard and I love chasing the bugs – it is so much fun – so I RAN!

I ran behind the bushes, I ran in back of the shed, I ran all over the yard. Mommy and Daddy were both chasing me around so I thought it must be a game. That got me running around even more. That’s when Mommy decided to use her “Mommy Psychology” thinking cap and figured that I was running around so much because I was being chased. You know, the more something chases you, the more you run – MOL!

She told Daddy to go back inside the house with the other cats while Mommy stayed outside. She sat quietly for a few minutes on the patio waiting for me to calm down. That’s when she came over to the bushes, grabbed me, and brought me inside the house.

It sure was fun while it lasted!

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ My buddy and pal <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/999263"><B>Skippy Skipster</U></I></B></A> tagged me to play - yippee!

After reading Skippy's tag answers, I'm a little embarrassed to post mine - MOL! Skippy said that he sleeps all night and he never tears things up - is that even possible? I thought ALL kitties like to tear things up!

I'm going to look really bad in comparison to my pal, Skippy, but here it goes:

1. Do you ever wake your parent up during the night?

- Oh, yes we do...all the time! Our playtime is Mom and Dad's sleepy time so we wake them up just about every night. Notice I said "we." It's a team effort - Luke, Tully, Natasha, and I love to run around and chase each other at night. We don't mean to wake them up; I guess they are just light sleepers!

2. Do you ever tear up things?

- Oh boy, do I ever! Mom even calls me the "Demolition Expert." Demolition is my special area of expertise. I shred papers with a vengeance - newspapers, toilet paper, and paper towels are my favorites - I eat them, too! Fiber - yummy!

3. What is your favorite treat?

- I love just about everything. I love nom noms and I'm not too picky, but I especially love chicken and turkey that Mom gives us a few times a week as a treat.

4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?

- I don't really fetch things on command but I will catch the fly on the end of our FlyToy fishing rod when Mom or Dad plays with me. I catch it in my mouth and will not let go. One time I even ate the fly - it was yummy!

5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?

- Me and my sis, Natasha, lived in a foster home before our furever Mommy adopted us. Our foster Mom told furever Mom that we were found in a dumpster when we were 4 weeks old and taken to the SPCA. A rescue group got us out and took care of us until we were almost 3 months old. That's when Mommy found us and brought us to our furever home last December. We were her Christmas presents - Merry Christmas, Mom!

I am going to tag my sis, Natasha, and anyfur who would like to play!

Love,

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Natasha and I have discovered a fun new game. Every morning Mom has been putting ice cubes in our pet fountains so we have cool water to drink during the day. Both of us are fascinated by these big, frozen, slippery things that swim mysteriously around the fountain bowl. We have both figured out how to remove the cubes from the bowl with our paws and bat them across the kitchen floor - like hockey pucks! I even smacked one underneath the refrigerator today - goal!!!

There's something very strange about these hockey pucks, though. After about 5 minutes, they completely disappear and we can't find them anymore - now where do you think they go?

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Does anyfur besides me have a silly Mommy or Daddy who make up strange nicknames for their fur kids?

My longstanding nicknames have been Sampy, Sampurrs, Sammy Boy, and the Red Rocker. Those names aren't too bad. But every now and then Mom comes up with a real strange one. The latest ones are "Pumpkin Muffin" and "Puddin' Pop." I do not answer her when she calls me these silly names, but she just keeps on doing it. What's even worse is when she makes up songs with our names in them and sings them to us.

For meowing out loud - Mom sure is weird sometimes!

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I have been tagged by the Skipster, aka <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/999263"><B> Skippy Skipster</U></I></B></A>! Thanks, Skip!

This is a game to know your friends better, so here it goes:

1. What time do you go to bed?

--- I like to power nap in the afternoons. I crash on my cat tree the entire afternoon out in the patio room – zzzzzzz. I’m starting to sleep most of the night now that I’m getting older, but I’m usually awake and playing by 4 a.m. to Mom’s dismay. I walk across her on the bed and start licking her face and giving her sandpaper kisses. It’s my way of saying “Hey Mom – WAKE UP.” It usually works – hehe.

2. What is your favorite gift you have received and why?

--- Finding my forever home was a gift. Me and my sis, Natasha, were rescued from a dumpster when were 4 weeks old, so we’ve had lots of angels looking out for us :)

3. What’s your favorite way to wake up and what’s the first thing you do?

--- I like to yawn and stretch and roll onto my back to show Mommy my furry tummy. I’m quite fluffy on my belly.

4. What would you call yourself if you could choose your own name?

--- I think Sammy suits me. Dad chose the name because he had 2 cats when he was growing up, both named Sammy, and he’s a sentimental kind of guy. He also said that I reminded him of the singer Sammy Hagar with my long reddish-blond hair – rock on!

5. What was the last thing you ate that you really shouldn’t have?

--- I have always liked to shred paper and Mom has to empty all trash containers and hide the TP before she leaves the house – otherwise I will shred and eat anything that is made of paper... especially paper towels and kleenex tissue paper. Hey, Mom, it’s a good source of fiber!

6. What are you afraid of?

--- I still get a little scared when Mom and Dad take us cats out in the moving house (Mom says it’s a "motor home"). It’s really big and loud and I don’t like it when it moves. Otherwise I’m not scared of much.

7. Do you have brothers and sisters?

--- I have a sisfur, Natasha, who was adopted at the same time I was and is from the same litter as me. I also have 2 older brofurs, Luke and Tully. Tully is a mellow little dude, but Luke likes to put me in my place. He always likes to remind me that he is Top Cat in our house.

8. What is your motto in life?

 --- Sleep hard, play harder.

9. Would you like to be famous? Why or why not?

--- I am already very famous – with my pawrents!

10. What cartoon or comic book character best describes you?

--- Superman! Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall building in a single bound – that’s me!

11. What super-power would you most like to have, and why?

--- I would like to be able to walk on ceilings. I can already climb walls, but I haven’t managed to walk on the ceiling just yet – MOL!

12. If you could play sports, what would you play and why?

--- Snowboarding! I saw Shawn White (The Flying Tomato) during the Winter Olympics and he earned a gold medal after he did a maneuver called the Double McTwist 1260, a move with two back flips and 3 ½ rotations coming out of the half pipe – how cool is that?

If you had fun reading my answers and would like to play along with me – tag, you’re it!

Sandpaper kisses,
Sammy]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Tonight when Mom came home from work, I greeted her at the door with my sweet Sammy self. She bent down to pet me and was surprised to find leaves and pine needles stuck in my fluffy pants! Lots of ‘em, too! All of us cats have medium to long fur, so we have very fluffy hineys and stuff tends to get stuck back there, if you know what I mean, including poopies sometimes– MOL! But tonight there were no poopies, just lots and lots of leaves and pine needles. Mom couldn’t figure out what I had gotten into – hee, hee.

Paw came home a few minutes later and Mom asked him to barbecue some chicken for dinner. When Paw went out to the back patio to set up the BBQ grill, he called inside the house to Mommy “Tully is out in the backyard!” Well, Mommy came running immediately because we only go outside in our strollers or in our harnesses, so there was no explanation for why Tully was outside or how he got there. Mom ran to scoop him up and that’s when she saw Natasha running – MOL! She was running through the bushes. Mom put Tully inside the house first then came back outside. Natasha is furry fast, Mommy can’t usually catch her. Natasha ran around the side of the house and disappeared inside an opening to underneath the house. A board had been removed creating an opening from under the house to the backyard.

Mommy knew that the phone company had been out yesterday to fix the Internet and phone service and that the technician had been in the backyard working on the lines. So she suspects that the board had been removed by him and not replaced. She doesn’t know for certain, but she thinks that we all snuck out today because the garage door leading into the kitchen had been left open and we can climb underneath the house once we are in the garage. We played in the backyard while she and Paw were at work. We all rolled in the leaves and pine needles and had so much fun! She is furry thankful that none of us ran away.

So that’s my big adventure for today!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I’ve always been an affectionate little guy, but lately I’ve been downright lovey dovey. Mom doesn’t know what has gotten into me. She can’t sit down for a minute without me jumping up on her lap and purring loudly in her ear. I also like to knead biscuits on her lap and kiss her hands with my sandpaper tongue. Mom thought it was really cute for the first few weeks or so I started doing this, but now I’m making it downright difficult for her to read, use a computer, or do anything sitting down for that matter – I jump on her lap every chance I get! If she tries to read a newspaper or a book, I will chew the pages until she puts it down and gives me her undivided attention.

I used to be very bonded to my sisfur, Natasha, but now I’ve decided that I love Mom more. Natasha likes to hang out with Luke and Tully and I like to hang out with Mom. I have to be careful though. Luke and Tully get jealous sometimes because they are also Mama’s boys, especially Luke who likes to give me the evil eye. He thinks he is top cat in the household…well, maybe for right now, but waits until I get a little bigger!

I just adore my Mommy - all I want to do is spend time with her. She is using the computer now, so I gotta go jump in her lap again –later!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I admit it. I’ve been a handful since I was adopted with my sisfur, Natasha, last December. I’ve climbed the walls, chewed electrical cords, and shredded paper all over the house. I had to spend more than a few nights in the spare bedroom because I kept Mama and Daddy awake all night by running across the bed and scratching on the blankets while they are trying to sleep.

But lately I’ve been a mellow little boy. I follow Mama around the house like a little puppy dog, I’ve stopped chewing cords, and I look forward to going outside in my pet stroller. I’m sleeping through the night, well, at least until 4 a.m., and I don’t cause as much trouble as I used to. Mama still hides the trash bins every time she leaves the house, but that’s just because I get bored if no one is around.

I’m almost 7 months old now, so I think I am starting to mellow a little bit. Mama knew I was a special kitty when she first met me. She keeps telling Daddy that as soon as I get a little bit older, I will be a good little kitty. Well, I AM a good little kitty right now; I’m just a little mischievous. One of our kitty friends told us that greater activity level = greater curiosity = greater intelligence. Well, if that is the case, I am one smart kitty – MOL!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Wowee, I just received my first Catster honor ever today – Diary of the Day!

I had a feeling something good was going to happen to me today. I ran across Mommy’s pillow this morning at 4 a.m. and tried to tell her “Mommy, mommy, check your catputer, I think Catster is trying to tell me something!" but Mommy wouldn’t listen to me, she just rolled over and went back to sleep! When she finally got up at 5:30 a.m., she had to rush off to work and couldn’t check her messages until later. We almost missed it! Next time I hope Mommy listens to me.

Thank you Catster for this cool honor and thank you to all my pawsome friends who took the time to stop by my page today to concatulate me! It sure has been fun!

Happy purrs,

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I did it!!! I went for my first ride in my pet stroller! Mommy has been waiting for the perfect opportunity and today was it! She has had the pet stroller out for weeks now hoping that Natasha and I would sniff it, explore it, and get comfortable with it.

Luke and Tully stroll all the time. Tully even runs to his stroller if he thinks he has an opportunity to go outside in it. Well, I showed him I could do it, too. Mom scooped me up while I was sniffing the stroller and zipped me inside. She waited, not knowing how I would react to being enclosed in a compartment. I do not like to be confined in any way and I will actually throw a huge hissy fit if Mom puts me in a cat carrier. This was different. I sensed that this was something good. We went out in the backyard at first in the stroller and I looked all around. I smelled the spring blossoms. I heard birds chirping and squirrels chattering. It was very interesting!

Mom wheeled me through the side gate and we went to the front yard. Then she started walking down the street with me in the stroller. It was very exciting! There were so many new sights and sounds. I looked all around and seemed comfortable so Mom kept walking. We went around an entire block! Mom was so happy when we got back home, she couldn’t stop praising me for my bravery. I think I’m going to like strolling!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom and Dad put our cat toys and furniture into that giant moving house again this weekend and took us camping. I’m not sure I like the moving part, but it was fun once we got there. The sun was nice and warm and there was a sea breeze. The windows were open and I got to watch the birdies. There were some doggies in the camp site next to us so I watched them, too. I hid behind the sofa in the moving house when it was time to leave and Mom and Dad had a heck of time getting me out. I like houses that don’t move the best.

Oh no, Mom and Dad are talking about going somewhere next weekend in the moving house again…let’s see, where can I hide this time…

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Three cheers for <A class=bodyTextRev target=site HREF="http://www.catster.com/cats/883236"><B> Newman</U></I></B></A>! He wrote a diary entry entitled "Step Away from the Squirt Bottle!" I think he must have read my previous diary entry where I talked about Mom squirting me with water to prevent me from chewing on wires.

You see, I am a naughty little orangie kitten. It goes with the territory. I’m cute as a button, but boy do I like to cause trouble! I climb walls, shred paper, chew electrical cords, and cause trouble wherever I go. Mom was getting frustrated with me. She decided to try the squirt bottle as a last resort to see if she could deter me from chewing. Well, Newmie says that’s not a good idea. I’m quoting his diary entry:

“Squirt Bottles are a Terrible Cat Training Tool

Professional trainers all agree that using a squirt bottle of water is NOT an effective way to discourage a cat from any behavior. All it really does is make him fearful of the spray bottle itself - NOT the activity he's doing when he gets squirted.

Some cats will also bear resentment towards the person who wields the water gun, so not only does it not register to deter the unwanted behavior, it can also have a negative impact on your relationship with your cat."

I have stopped chewing cords, at least for now. Mom doesn’t know if it was the squirt bottle that actually stopped me, but she’s very happy I’ve been a good boy for the past couple of days. Mom felt terrible whenever she squirt me, but getting electrocuted didn’t seem like such a good thing either!

Thanks, Newmie, for sticking up for me! The Squirt Bottle has been retired!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I haven’t stopped playing my newest game where I run across Mom’s laptop while she is using it and then chew on the computer cord. Apparently Mom does not like this game. She created her own game where she keeps a squirt bottle next to her and sprays me with a stream of water if I don’t stop chewing the electrical cord.

Mom is usually a pushover when it comes to discipline. She usually lets us cats do as we please most of the time, so I was a little surprised when she squirt me. Don’t get me wrong, we are all very well behaved kitties...well at least Luke, Tully, and Natasha are. I’m an orangie kitten, I just can’t help myself!

She’s really worried about me getting hurt from electrical cords so she has taken this drastic measure of squirting me with water. So far it’s been working. I run away now when I see her pick it up. I might have to think of another game to play…

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I have a talent for making up new games. My newest game is to jump on Mommy’s lap while she is on the computer. I walk across the keyboard and chew on the cord. Mommy doesn’t like this game much. At first she thought I just wanted some attention so she’d put the computer aside and give me pets and rubs. But that’s not how you play the game. The rules state that the computer must be on Mommy’s lap and I must be allowed to walk on it, otherwise it’s not fun. And I must be allowed to chew the cord - that is the object of the game.

Mommy doesn’t know what to do with me right now. She’s already Sammy-proofed the house, or so she thought. Now she’s got to worry about me chewing on cords. Hmmm…what game shall I think of next?

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Oh my cat! I can’t believe it, but I have a twin brofur on Catster! Well, he’s not technically my biological twin since he’s a couple of months older than me, but we look so much alike that my silly Meowmy sent ME a heart rosie thinking it was my new friend. We both joined the Man Cats at Work-No Girls Allowed Group. Our main photos look amazingly similar with our MCAW hard hats so that when Momma tried to send him a heart rosie for me earlier today, she sent it to me by accident! Silly Momma!

He’s a sweet orangie boy who was abandoned as a baby just like me. He’s full of spunk and fire just like me. He’s a ball of mischief. He is cute and cuddly and loves his older brofurs just like me. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ Last night was one of the best nights so far of the Winter Olympic Games. Natasha and I love to jump up and watch our big screen HD TV. Sometimes we will try and catch anything that is moving on the big screen because it is so big and life-like. Last night I was watching the Olympics with Mom and Dad because there was so much action going on the big screen.

There’s a cool guy named Shaun White who is a pawsome snowboarder. He earned his second Olympic gold medal last night in the men’s halfpipe. He did a maneuver called the Double McTwist 1260, a move with two back flips and 3 ½ rotations coming out of the half pipe – how cool is that?

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom is concerned about my behavior lately. I have been extremely active, literally climbing the walls! Tonight I jumped on the top perch of the cat tree, which is about 5-6 feet from the ground. I stretched up high and was able to jump on top of the door frame. Mom watched in horror as I slid down the wall to the floor (note to self: do not slide down stucco walls, there is no traction!)

She then watched me as I ran and jumped up and scratched on the big TV screen. Did you know that HD is very life-like? I tried to catch a ball that was being shown during a golf tournament, but I couldn’t quite reach it….

Mom came home from work tonight and found waste paper baskets toppled over, newspapers, and mail shredded in a million pieces. The house was a mess. She didn’t see me do it, but she just knows it was me. Luke and Tully act appalled by my behavior and they are avoiding me.

What is wrong with me? Is this a temporary phase I am going through? Mom doesn’t know what to do!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Well, it’s officially been six weeks since I arrived at my forever home. I am eating like a little piggy and growing really fast. I play hard and sleep harder. My older brofurs, Luke and Tully seem to like me okay. I know I get on their nerves at times. I run around the house and act like a wildcat, I just can’t help it! There’s so much to do and explore in this house. I’m glad I have Natasha to wrestle with because I don’t think I’d want to take on the bigger cats just yet. They still outweigh me by 8-10 pounds. The big guy, Luke, could kick my butt if he wanted to, so I’m trying to behave and not get him too irritated with me.

Neither Natasha nor I have been very affectionate so far, but Mom is very patient with us and doesn’t force it. She pets us a lot while we are lying on the furniture or casually walking around the house and we purr like crazy, but neither one of us likes to be picked up or held.

I thought I’d surprise Mom by sitting on her lap today. She was reading a newspaper in the recliner chair this morning with her coffee and I thought I’d let her know that her patience might be paying off. I sat down on her lap and started up my extra loud purr motor. I gazed at her with adoring eyes. Mom really loved that - I just might be a lovebug after all.

purrs, Sammy]]></content:encoded>

1. Do you have a Valentine? If so... who?

I’m just a kitten. I’m too busy eating, sleeping, and playing right now. What’s a Valentine?

2. If not... do you wish you did? ... Is there anyone particular? ...Or would you rather be single? ...Why?

I’m happy being single right now. There’s a lot to do and explore in my new home.

3. What's your favorite Love Song? ... Who sings it?

Since I am named after the rocker Sammy Hagar, I’d have to pick one of his songs…“Love Walks In” by Van Halen (when Sammy was the lead vocalist) is a cool song!

4. What would be a Perfect Valentine’s Day for you?

I’m not sure what this Valentine’s Day is about yet. I’ll let you know next year!]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Boy, did I get in big time trouble today. Since it was a damp and dreary day outside, Mom decided to spend time reorganizing the home office, throwing away junk and just tidying things up in general. Natasha and I curled up for a nice nap on the chair in the office so Mom could admire how cute we are when we sleep. She kept on cleaning up while we slumbered peacefully.

At some point, Mom started doing laundry and stuff, and didn’t notice that we had gotten up from the chair. She was in the master bedroom in the back of the house when Luke came running in and jumped up on the cat perch next to the window. He does this often when he wants attention from Mom or Dad, so Mom started petting him. He was staring intently at something on the ground outside the bedroom window in the backyard. Thinking it was either a bird or squirrel, Mom peered out the window to see me and Natasha frolicking in the tall grass. Well, we’ve NEVER been outside before so Mom quickly ran and got the cat carrier then bolted to the backyard before we could make a fast getaway! We got so scared when we saw Mom that we ran back into the opening where we had come out from underneath the house!

As far as Mom can tell, we must have slipped out the kitchen door into the attached garage while she was doing laundry. We found an opening that leads from the garage to underneath the house and were able to escape out a small hole into the backyard – it was cool!

I thought I could trust Luke – he isn’t exactly an angel himself. Mom never would have looked out the window when she did if Luke hadn’t jumped up on the cat perch and made a big scene – what a snitch!

Well, that was my excitement for today!]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ When you are young and cute like me, you can get away with a lot. Like chasing the older cats around the house and biting their tails (who me? I’m just a baby!) And eating all the good wet food and treats so that the older cats are left with nothing but the dry kibble – MOL! I toppled over the waste paper basket today and shredded all the Kleenex and toilet paper I could find in the house (who me? I’m just a baby!)

Yes, it pays to be cute; you can get away with murder – MOL!]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi Kitties! It’s me Sammy. I’m new here.

I came to my new forever home just a week ago. I had a rough start in life. Me and my sis, Natasha, were found in a dumpster when we were 4 weeks old. No one knows how we got there, but someone took us to the SPCA where they cleaned us up, hydrated us, and fed us. We lived in a foster home for a couple of months until my new Mom came and got us. She was originally coming to see me, but when she saw how attached I was to my sis, she decided to adopt both of us. I love my sisfur so much; I keep her nice and clean by licking her. She licks me back, so I’m pretty clean, too.

Wanna know how I got my name? The rescue group called me Leo and my sis, Cleo but Mom thought rhyming names would be too confusing for us. She started calling my sis, Natasha; I guess that is who she looks like to her. Dad said I reminded him of the singer Sammy Hagar. With my longish reddish/orange hair, he said I was to be named Sammy. Sammy Hagar is nicknamed the Red Rocker, so that is my nickname, too. I have been rockin’ this house since my arrival – MOL! I am pretty hyper, but hey, I’m a kitten, what do you expect?

I like my new home. I have big brothers, Luke and Tully, who are pretty accepting of me so far. We only hissed and growled at one another a few times. There’s a lot of cool cat furniture and toys around so I can play to my heart’s content. Good food and treats, too.

I have to say that the kitties we have met on Catster so far have been super, duper nice to us. We’ve made lots of cool friends and had so many nice pawmails and gifties sent to us. Yep, I think I’m gonna like here!

Bye for now, Sammy]]></content:encoded>
