indoors and outdoors Arrival Story: I was looking for a kitten companion for miso, and had put my name down with several rescue vets and shelters. One vet rang me last week, said they had two kittens, one boy and one girl. I had intended to get a boy, as miso is female, but when I saw sumi, I couldn't leave her there. She's a calico and tortie angel! miso was seriously nose-out-of-joint, but we worked hard at integrating the two girls, and finally, after 5 weeks of rage and upset, miso calmed down. Sumi never understood the problem - all she wanted to do was play - and now they are friends, although it's pretty clear that tiny sumi is the boss. She is very feisty and bossy, and is always stealing miso's food after her own is finished, so we feed them in separate rooms. Now that sumi is 20 months and miso 2 years, they enjoy each other's company and play together a lot, but so far they are not cuddly with each other, and sumi is still fairly aggressive with her big sister. but we're hoping she will mellow. Bio: Sumi was found wandering in the street, clearly un-looked-after. She was quite grubby and starving. She was only just over 5 weeks old. A kind person brought her into the vet's where I found her. At ten weeks, sumi got very ill with a bad reaction to a worming tablet. She was on a drip for 4 days in the vet's, but every evening I brought her home and nursed her through the night, syringing dioralyte, water, broth and purreed chicken into her little mouth, because she just wouldn't eat. After 5 days she recovered, and was soon bouncing around as energetically as before, FRANTICALLY hungry! We were so thankful and relieved that she got well again; it was touch and go for one night. She is the most adorable, affectionate little character, even more so since being so ill. It turned out she had tapeworm eggs, and had become sensitized to the worming drug (she'd had two previously), which means she's allergic to it, and this had caused the terrible diahrrea and loss of appetite. We gave her a different wormer since then and she was fine with it. After being spayed at 6 months, she got a post-op infection which made her very ill again. Luckily she was insured this time, as she had to go to the emergency vet again. sumi is now 20 months old and very beautiful. She is gleaming with health, thanks to her raw diet, and full of energy and fun. She is a darling and intensely affectionate little cat who adores her hoomans. Every morning at 5am she comes up on the bed for cuddles, but mostly all she wants is OUT to watch birds...
