Arrival Story:
I found Nikki at a local Humane Society and when I first saw him he reminded me of a little Russian bear. He was mostly black with a gray ruff and gray hairs all throughout and just a touch of a white spot on his chest. He was so friendly and was too hard to resist and before I knew it he was on his way home with me. Saddly Nicci passed away this September 22, 2011. He went peacefully in his sleep while at Grandma's house. He is burried in their lovely garden and now can romp through the gardens across the rainbow bridge. You will be greatly missed my sweet, sweet boy.

Bio:
Nicodemus came from the Ramsey County Humane Societ off Como, now known as the Humane Society for Companion Animals. As he was growing up, he kept changing his looks. His ruff would get really fuzzy, then disappear alltogether. Then it would come back, no rhyme or reason to it like Seasons or anything. He was gray, then black, now a beautiful sable brown coloring. I think he might have some Siamese or similar in him because if you look close enough you can see he has the dark points. In 2003 Nicodemus developed Diabetes and for the first 6-8 months his blood sugar was all over the place. Really hard to get regulated but with the help of some great internet web sites and testing his blood daily, he finally got regulated and he is doing just fine now with his one shot a day of insulin every morning. Now if I can just keep him from sneaking the frosting off my cake... can't believe he ate the whole piece, wow, and was just fine...or snarfing up everyone else's food, his blood sugar should stay regulated. Update: 3-23-08. I have switched Nicodemus to canned food exclusively now after reading Megan the Cat Lady's web page about the connection of dry food and diabetes. His insulin usage has dropped by about half and he has eve dropped some weight. I now feed him Wellness canned and he is very excited to finally be getting some descent food. (Though he never really complained about the dry stuff. He just liked to eat) Here is the web site that really helped me out. http://community-2.webtv.net/getca thelp/thecatlady/
