Monida's mom here.
I'm hoping some of my catster friends can help me out. Today I rescued a one-eyed siamese from the shelter, where he's been for the past month. I don't know why I feel in love with this guy, but I so want to find him a home. My plan is to foster him until I can find a great place for him.
However, he's so cute and I'm already worried about finding someone who will truely care for him. But I feel so guilty because I feel like I'm betraying Monida, who doesn't know why this other cat is suddenly here eating her food and sitting in her spots. We finally had a routine and now I'm worried everything with her will change.
Have any other kitty parents felt this way? Any advice?
Also, has anyone ever fostered kittens before? How do you deal with giving it away? I just know this is going to end in heartbreak for me.
yes, with Rose...but she fit in after awhile...just introduce them gradually..purring for you all
Yes, keep the introduction gradual. Keeping the new kitty in another room where they can sniff under the door, occasionally trading out toys so they get used to each others scents. Feliway is supposed to be good for calming kitties too, as are several other natural remedies... you can google them or talk to someone at a PetSmart. I'll have mama get with some friends that do fostering and ask them to stop by. Good luck!!
We agree with Chef Rooster and Kittanna. Take it slow and let them do their thing. We have 18 in our family. We love each other and sometimes can't stand one another. We are just a big family. Good luck, with your new kitty.
Have a wonderful day.

I'm sorry Monida that I have no advice. Emily and I are littermates so we have been together furrever. But we think it is purrty pawsome of your mommy to foster this one-eyed Siamese boy kitty! :~) And maybe, just maybe, you might end up liking a companion around the house?
