There are 2 snake encounters I'd like to tell you about right now, before I forget them.
A few days ago, my owners came outside to discover a wonderfully (NOT) poisonous copperhead snake on their back deck. It looked young, but they'd heard that young snakes are more venemous, so they were even more freaked out. Mostly cuz Ashton and I were trying to play with it. BOL. Hailey ran around from the 2nd set of stairs to the shed, got the shovel, and came back. Then her mom killed the snake. It didn't move once during all of this, except when she killed it. Right before it died, it moved it's head and hissed, but it couldn't do anything about it.
The 2nd snake happened when Hailey, her sister, and her dad got home from him picking them up from school. They had been gone all day and their mom wasn't home yet, so no one had been up on the deck since around 7 that morning. Well, Hailey got on the deck first and said "Daaa-aad???" in a kinda panicky voice. I, Dusty, ran up on the deck, thinking maybe she was going to say "Im going to give Dusty some treats now". She didn't. He came up on the deck and saw the snake. It had lodged itself in the crack between the planks of wood and the deck. Ashton and I had clawed a deep gouge in its side, so they thought it was dead. Hailey managed to pull it out (wearing gloves), thinking it was dead she started freaking out when it started swerving while she was holding it, trying to get away. it wasn't a copperhead, they think it was a black snake. It had a gray body and a pink underside - and it was young. Hailey & her dad got pictures of it, and then they let it go in the woods by the driveway. It crawled off but probably died really soon.
Well I think I'd better go outside - Ashton wants to play hide and seek. Well bye! :D

Last Friday Ashton and I got fixed....The humans found out Ashton's actually a boy. Of course I could tell before that that he was but the humans noses arent as sensitive as cats'.
When we got home from the place they fixed us, we were all wobbly and unsteady and Ashton ran into the wall and coffee table a few times whereas i just couldnt think. It wore off in a few hours and we stayed inside for a few nights.
The humans made a makeshift litterbox and we got the hang of it pretty quick. The humans were proud. Each night when everyone went to bed, we got shut up in the bathroom with towels for us to sleep on, food and water bowls, and the litterbox.
We didn't have one accident in the house (: we only used the litterbox.
By the way, they (the humans) are keeping our names Dusty and Ashton. We're four months old already, well we will be on August 3rd, and they just fit (:
Catch ya later!

My owners have been talking about how they are going to change my name to Logan. Or Dusty-Logan. They'd call me DL for short. Hailey's dad suggested Logan because that's Wolverine's real name. They couldn't remember wolverine's girlfriends name. Thats what try were going to name Ashton, but now they think they are just going to keep her as Ashton.
My owners are proud of us. They don't know if it's Gypsie (my mom) or me and Ashton who are catching the mice/moles, but there have been tons of mole/mice parts on the deck now. We have been going more places without Mommy, and we are not so scared of going in the woods without her anymore.
Ash is more skittish than me. I love the humans, but she's more of an independent cat. She's going to be long and skinny when she grows ip, they think, whereas I'm going to be more powerfully built. At least I hope so. That way I can protect my territory fiercely!!!
Well I'm going to go hunt and/or sleep now. Bye!
