Arrival Story:
A few weeks ago as I was volunteering at the local shelter the head volunteer presented me with this beautiful persian. She said the owners got divorced and the man got the cat. He said he didn't want it because it shed (can you imagine?!) and was going to shoot it if she didn't take it! How could I turn her down?

Bio:
Sweet cat didn't know how to be a companion! Doesn't know what treats are. She was declawed and has "issues" regarding the litterbox. She has a lot to learn and we are teaching her. 8-11-07 Phaedra had heart failure last weekend and has been at the vet's all week. Prognosis not good at all! Poor little kitty! 8-14-07 Crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

8-14-07 - I crossed the Rainbow Bridge

Today I crossed the Rainbow Bridge. My vet said he could keep draining off the fluid from my lungs, but they would fill up faster every time until I could no longer breathe. He recommended that it is time to let me go. They love me and so they did let me go to a better place over the Rainbow Bridge. . .

They found me holding the hallway wall last Friday night when they came in. We were to go to the vet Saturday a.m. but the Jeep had 2 flat tires! So they spent all day trying to get the flats fixed. They got me to to vet Monday afternoon after the Jeep overheated on the way to the vet. I think I'm very sick! The vet took my temperature and I had fever. Then he got blood work and x-rays. A milky fluid covers my entire chest cavity. Dr. Hall drained a lot of fluid off tonight, and gave me a gentle pat before he left. I don't feel like eating and have lost a lot of weight. Hey, I was only 6 lbs max and I feel horrible, can't breathe. I'm 30 miles away from Macon, in Gray. Whatever this is, it hit me suddenly. The vet says "heart failure" which is not good at all!

Not a "nasty" cat after all

I've been thinking about Phaedra's litterbox "problem" and have decided that she's only trying to do what she has to do. She apparantly was de-clawed as an adult cat. She "claws" at cardboard and hard smooth surfaces. She does, occasionally use the litterbox, but has decided to use the bathtub for her litterbox. Better than the kitchen, bathroom, and back porch floors. At least I can clean the bathtub after she uses it. It does provide her with what she's comfortable with: a hard smooth surface which can be cleaned up quickly. Ok, I can live with that.

Please accept my appology, Phaedra. You are not a nasty cat, just desparate. After all, you can't just "hold it" until I find you a place to put it! Poor little cat!
